Texas Empires

Texas Empires: Longhorn

Rate this book
A vulnerable beauty must overcome a bitter man's resentment toward his father and his family before she can claim his heart.

***

Texas: it was a land of dreams, of unlimited possibilities. At least that's what Maddie Hardin had thought before she arrived and settled on her dusty run-down cattle ranch. Alone but for a few head of cattle, and the rowdy inhabitants of the Nueces Strip. Maddie didn't think things could get much worse. Until Daniel Kent walked back into her life.

Her windswept blond hair teasing her features, her intense blue eyes blazing defiantly, Maddie could still affect him like no other woman. Daniel wanted nothing more than to taste her sweet kisses and feel her soft body beneath his. For though neither he nor Maddie could deny their tumultuous past, Daniel knew that they were destined to share a love as vast and untamed as the wide Texas sky.

Don’t get me wrong...I love my husband...but I’ve spent a lifetime caught in a passionate affair. My lover taunts, teases, enrages, thrills, amuses, and ultimately satisfies. His name? Language. Readers, you know what I’m talking about. Whether written, spoken, or sung, words entice me as no other human invention could ever do. Okay, music is a close second; when you put the two together, the result is sublime.

Like most writers, I came to this devilish profession through a love of reading. I’ve worked as a crime reporter, teacher, librarian - challenges all. They culminated in the creation of stories of my own, both contemporary and historical. My wish is that you let them seduce you

I live in San Antonio with my husband, dote on five grandsons, and travel whenever and wherever I can. My photo was taken on the dock in Liverpool, England, in front of a modern sculpture of a “lamb-banana,” the artist’s whimsical cross between a lamb and a banana. This was shortly before an emotional trip to the boyhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney.

This book fell into my lap, was given to me so I read it. I really don't like this authors style and she bores me. That said, this book was better than the cover and the jacket description indicated it would be. Something about the way the characters are developed leaves me with the feeling more is needed. I had to push myself to finish this book, and I usually wizz thru a paperback in a day. This book took me about 4 and it isn't a thick book. I won't look for this authors books...and will avoid them from now on.
