His proximity alone sends a shiver through me, but how he says my name erases all doubts about my feelings. I want him. But I can’t have him. We’re friends. Only friends. Nothing more. -Lauren

Old friends.
New feelings.
Will that be enough?

Lauren has only two kinds of relationships with the men in her friendship or weekend fling. Her past left her too emotionally and physically broken to allow anything beyond that, and she mastered the art of hiding her fear of history repeating itself behind her extrovert nature.

Only Henry sees through her act now that he wants to break free from the friend zone. When he stirs feelings inside Lauren that she considered buried and lost, hope resurfaces, but trusting a man with her heart again proves to be more complicated than she assumed.

Also, Henry’s life is dictated by his father, who wants to mold him into the next CEO of the family company and is against a relationship that doesn’t serve the business. But Henry is willing to stand up against his dad—and fight his way through the walls Lauren built.

When she finally lets him in, he makes her experience things she never thought possible. But will that be enough?

Super easy read because it’s predictable and there’s not much going on in terms of plot or whatever - it is just a basic contemporary romance after all, so that’s ok

I wouldn’t re-read or read others in the series but it was fine as a palate cleanser between fantasy books 😅

Also says “Spicy” on the cover but nah, sis, it’s steamy at best.
I would rate it like a 0.5 on the 🌶️ scale.

Until We Surrender is the second book in the Until series. I haven't read the first book in this series yet, and this was my first book by Lilly Henderson.

I really enjoyed this story, and it was a fun read. Until We Surrender follows the evolution of Henry and Lauren's relationship. Lauren's past relationships have left her with lots of emotional scars. Henry is her friend who she has a crush on. I loved them together, and they had amazing chemistry. The story had just the right amount of banter, angst, tension, and buildup. I was on the edge of my seat, waiting for them to finally give in to their feelings. Once they did, the passion and spice were perfect. I love that Henry and Lauren's connection was deeper than physical attraction. Lilly created some great characters. I want to read the first book to learn more about Ben and Amy. Until We Surrender was a bit of an emotional roller coaster with enough drama to keep me turning the pages. I love how Henry and Lauren were able to overcome their obstacles and have their happy ending. I'm excited for the next story!

Thanks to Lilly Henderson and Butterfly PA Services for the e-ARC. Opinions expressed are my own.

I was an arc reader for this book. Before my review, some content warnings. My e-reader app jumped straight to chapter one so I did not realize there was a trigger warning page. It is for graphic descriptions of domestic violence. I would also include a trigger warning for an overly controlling and arguably abusive father.

As for the book, the story was fun. There were a couple things that kind of turned me off but as those are directly connected to an abusive controlling parent in my past, I don’t hold it against the book. I never got fully sucked into the story but it was an enjoyable friends to lovers romance with a cute piano playing billionaire and a supportive friends group.

🌶️? Love? Drama? Check, check, check. Lilly delivers with this novel. Sweet, spicy, at times suspenseful. I found myself smiling ear to ear while reading. Lauren and Henry will have you giggling, tearing up and swooning. Second in the series but can be read as a standalone. Friends to lovers, light work relationship, HEA.
Trigger warnings: domestic violence, attempted murder, abuse

Oh Henry! This is the second book in the Until Series and I could not put this spicy page turner down! Lilly has become one of my one click authors as her books always suck me in! Lauren and Henry are friends until one fateful work meeting inside an elevator makes them realize there’s way more to their friendship then meets the eye. Sadly Lauren struggles with an abusive past and isn’t so quick to fall for Henry’s swoon worthy charms. And Henry’s father and ex don’t make it easy either.

Never fear this story gives you heart clenching and thigh clenching scenes and keeps you guessing till the bitter end will they be able to overcome all the adversity and fear, surrendering to their feelings for each other?

Guess you’ll have to read it to find out! 😉

I highly recommend this book along with book 1 and I can’t wait to read more from Lilly! Five gloriously hot 🥵 stars

I really enjoyed this story. The main characters Lauren and Henry were so sweet and relatable that we could see them as one of our friends.

Their story begins with them as friends who have feelings for each other and through out the book they act on those and give us all the butterflies we can have because of all their sweetness and spicyness.

In between the romance their story envolves both characters problems, traumas and fears, and we can see them evolve together and with their friends support (I really enjoy good friends as side characters. It always give hope that they have their own storyes afterwards...).

I've also rediscovered Henry's therapeutic song. Nostalgic but so beautiful... . It is a really good choice for those melancholic moments.

Lilly's books were a new but very good discovery this year. I can't wait to see what comes next! 🥰

The second in the Until series by author Lilly Henderson, Until We Surrender does not disappoint. This healthy modern romance takes readers on a rollercoaster journey with Lauren and Henry where love grows amid drama, laughter, and a few heart-aching, teary moments.

Plus there are suspense-filled cliffhanger scenes where you’ll be crossing your fingers hoping nothing goes wrong for Lauren. Will Henry be there for her when she fights her toughest battle with scumbag Sean? Will there be a happy ending Henry and Lauren?

I loved reading Until We Surrender and can’t wait for the third installment in the series - Tessa and Paul’s story.

Just as cute and easy of a read as the first in this series. I enjoyed Henry and Lauren more then Amy and Ben. Their chemistry was hot and I adored them. Henry was adorable and i just wanted to squish him in a hug. A quick fast read perfect for a cozy afternoon.

-ARC REVIEW -

I am so happy to have received this book as an advanced reader copy because I enjoyed every minute of it!

For me, it was an emotional rollercoaster! My love for Henry grew as I got deeper into the book, he’s such a sweetheart.

Lauren’s story had me in a chokehold, I’m so happy that in the end she found someone just as perfect as Henry!

The smut is this book too was fire 😍

There are trigger warnings but they were written so thoughtfully.

Until we surrender was a cute, easy to read spicy romance that made you not only fall in love but heal from the past. While there are trigger warnings in this book that I suggest taking into account, they were written about tactfully and clearly. Henry is a solid male character who was easy to fall for and Lauren knew that. With scars from her past threatening her present, this book will walk you through them with her as she navigates being more than friends from a safe spot. Highly recommend reading this book!

I am not usually one for romance novels, but this new installment in the Until series was just what I was, hoping for. There were many opportunities for the author to choose a cheesy trope to get out of a situation, but instead she leaned into real life possibility and made it very believable. I really enjoyed learning about Lauren and Henry and how their past impacted their connection. Overall, I was very happy with this book, and I recommend it to romance readers!

I really enjoyed this! Friends to lovers can be tricky to get right sometimes but I definitely think Lilly nailed it. Lauren and Henry's relationship was wonderfully sweet despite some darker themes in their lives. It was so good to see how they took charge of their lives and found ways to move forward. Also loved being Ben and Amy again 😍

I received an ARC and this is my honest review

Phew! The tension and build up in this book had me squirming in my seat.

This story ticks all the boxes for the perfect romantic read:

✓Sexy flirting? Of course!
✓Delicious sex? Hell, yes!
✓Emotion and rawness? I'm still recovering.
✓Banter and great friendships? I want to be part of the friendship group in this book!

Actually- I want to be Lauren in this book!

The pace was on point. The build up was fantastic. This is a standalone however I think it makes more sense to read Amy and Bens' story first, and why wouldn't you read it? Lilly Henderson is a fantastic story teller!

Thank you, Lilly for another fantastic story which I was unable to put down ❤️ .

I'm so excited to read more from Lilly Henderson in the future! Until then, I'm going to cool myself down because all the fictional men that Lilly's created have left me hot and bothered!

Excellent!

The Sophomore release for the Until series is even better than the first book. This time, we follow Lauren, a coworker with a train wreck past of badly chosen and ended relationships. The scars from these relationships have left her wary of of moving forward with anything new. Her extrovert nature tends to disguise this problem.

Henry, the son of the CEO falls fast and hard for Lauren, against his father's wishes, (I felt he was also a bit of a as...jerk) Henry has a charm to him, brilliant book boyfriend material.

This book marries angst, spice, fantastic writing and brilliant characters to take you on a delightful ride that I'm being see to as Lilly Henderson's fantastic style.

Please be aware that this book does contain discussion of domestic violence. I feel like I can relate to the FMC (Lauren), not only because we have the same name, but because I also was very reluctant to start a new relationship and experienced the self sabotage my brain and anxiety put me through due to experiences in past relationships. Lucky for me, I also found my Henry (MMC name). That being said, I did not experience domestic violence in a past relationship that Lauren did. The author depicts the emotional turmoil that Lauren goes through when it comes to a relationship with Henry. One minute Lauren is all in with Henry and wants to be happy with him, then suddenly one simple feeling or sentence can bring back the doubts and anxiety of what she has gone through in the past. Henry is so sweet and understanding but also challenges her in the relationship, so much so that Henry finally gives her an ultimatum. Lauren has the choice to choose him and to choose happiness, or choose to lose him and to live with her demons and succumb to the self sabotage.

I was an arc reader for this story and I really enjoyed it! But I think I should mention, that I didn’t realize there was a trigger warning page at the front of the book as I read on my kindle and it jumped me straight into Chapter 1. Totally my fault for not going back and checking.

Besides that, I really enjoyed Lauren and Henry’s characters. The story felt super relatable from the very beginning. They start out as friends, then as the story goes on they become more than, giving us all the feelings. I don’t want to give too much away but the story really is so beautiful. I highly recommend it!

Until We Surrender

Lilly Henderson wrote another intoxicating romance book with a significant amount of spice!

Lauren has been friends with Henry for over a year and has developed strong feelings for him. She knew it wasn’t reciprocated, so she didn’t say anything.

Henry also shared those same feelings, and once he discovered she wanted more, he seduced her. Their relationship turned from friends to lovers.

Lauren struggles with mental anguish due to her past and may make the biggest mistake of her life. Will she conquer these issues to keep her soulmate in her life?

Lilly has a tremendous talent for creating beautiful romance books. She captivates you throughout the book, and you feel like you are part of the story.

Grab a fuzzy hot chocolate, the softest comfiest fuzzy blanket, and curl up on the sofa surrendering to Lauren and Henry's love story, a friends-to-lovers sweet and angsty romance.

Lauren's story is heart-wrenching. Escaping a relationship straight from the worst nightmares of any woman, she works hard to put herself together. To rediscover who she is AFTER.
Her trust in relationships? Gone. Commitment? Run away.

But as it happens, when she reaches a point in life where everything seems to fall back on tracks and life goes better than she thought it would in the aftermath, all it takes is one look from her friend to knock the air out of her lungs and have her heart go pitter-patter.

It all starts with a crush. With swoony moments, steamy nights, bumps in the road, and self doubts.

This is the first book I have read from this author. And Lilly made it so easy for me to put myself in Lauren's shoes, to cheer for her, to laugh with her, to cry with her.

To envy the support she gets from her friends.

The tension between Lauren and Henry is palpable pushing you to devour each page, pushing you to root for them and scream at every roadblock in their path. Such a rollercoaster of emotions.

Can't wait to see what Lilly brings in the next book of this series, hoping I get to see Lauren and Henry again. <3

Until We Surrender is book two of the Until series written with care by Lilly Henderson. A note that while it is the second of the series it can be read on its own. Before I dive into my own thoughts I would like to caution future readers that you need to pay attention to the trigger warning page for this particular romance. That being said, this book handles a lot more heavily weighted topics than the first of the series at least in my opinion which isn't a damning thing, purely because Henderson does it respectfully.
Henry and Laurens story is a classic friends to lovers story. I will say these two characters were both prominent in book one so it was really gratifying to watch their characters develop throughout this book. The reader quickly sees that both of these characters are in dark places at the beginning but Henderson skillfully navigates both the characters and the readers to safety. Henry has depth in his need to escape his problems utilizing his gift with the piano. I do think at times the friends were in their business too much but we did see that in the first book with Lauren demanding to know about Amy. So as they say, payback is fair.
Having read both book 1 and book 2 I think I can see a slight improvement in writing from Henderson, almost as if her confidence is growing with each book and story she has to tell. I can't wait to read the next book.

Have you ever wanted to jump in a book and slap common sense into characters that was me with Henry and Lauren 😭😭. I swear those two were oblivious and every one else saw what was going on. Ben and Amy is better than me also because I would have gathered them and said Henry like you Lauren and Lauren likes you Henry, and scream yes!!! More than friends!!!! NOW KISS 💋

God bless that little Moan Lauren finally gave that gave Henry the Green Lignt, was I shouting at my phone and saying FINALLY!! Yes, yes I was. Spice was a 3/5 but it was still good and the build up even made it better. I was so happy that they got together and even thou Lauren was insecure he stayed trying to help her. But On God , I wanted to fight Lauren, I understand that you are scared but don’t do that to Poor Henry 😭😭 Baby!!!! I’m so hurt.

Also ain’t no way y'all let homegirl go through all this trauma 😭. I was wishing for her happiness so badly 😂😂. I love the book so much, it made me laugh, angry and cry. Lilly you really took me on a roller coaster of emotions. I would definitely recommend this book as a good friends to lovers book.

Definitely check this book out!!

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

A sweet and steamy, friends to lovers office romance that has you rooting for the main characters both individually and together as a pair throughout the book.

The tension was yummy and the steam was spicy! I enjoyed reading the different relationships and their connections you see in the book. I also liked the character development of Lauren and Henry as you dive into each of their many layers that they have to acknowledge and overcome together. It may be a little tougher for others to read, so definitely be aware of the trigger warnings. I thought Lilly did a great job of thoughtfully writing about the more difficult and emotional layers of the MCs while still capturing the romance!

Although I loved the dynamics of the characters, I couldn't really get into the dialogue. The conversations felt a bit flat, a little awkward, and pretty repetitive for me- I was hoping for a little more depth in the overall dialogue and a little less pushing from the friends.

Other than that, it was a great ARC read, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to have read this sweet story!

Friends to lovers is my all-time favourite trope to read and Ms. Henderson gives us that with Until We Surrender. This story is captivating, emotional, heartbreaking, and one that will have you swooning over Henry and hugging Lauren through all the pain and suffering that she goes through. The writing is gripping, easy to read and so beautifully done that you will not want to put the book down.

Lauren has a past that haunts her and she is trying to get over the emotional and physical damage that her ex caused. Henry is trying to live his life but it seems his father has a grip on him and he fights to be the person that he wants to be. Henry is one man with whom she feels something, but will the attraction that they both feel be something more and something they act upon? Their chemistry is off the charts and when that friendship line is crossed, the sparks that ignited set the pages on fire. Not only do they have this physical attraction, but there is something deep inside their hearts that sees the two of them as the ones who help one another heal and become the person they want to be.

This is book 2 in the series and it was Lauren's story loved meeting Lauren in book one as Amy's best friend.
This was a slow burn and a lot of yes and no back and forth.
Loved Henry he finally gave in and risked his friendship but once he was in he was all in. I loved how patient he was with her, knowing she has past trauma causing her to be a commitment phobe.
Lauren was still the fun friend but she valued her friendship too much to ruin it plus her ex really messed her mentally.
I understand that but I felt she kept sabotaging their relationship a bit too much.
Loved the friends group and was great to see Ben and Amy doing great. Thanks to the friends pushing them both to make a move we finally get it. The chemistry is great and it's fantastic when they accept to take next step.
But Lauren past and Henry's dad's high expectations cause issues.
Read and see how they overcome all their hurdles to get that HEA.
Great banter, emotional, heartbreaks, drama, love and extra hot spice.
So glad we will be getting Paul's story next, can't wait.

I did enjoy this book. A short book of 260 pages. I read it quickly. Even though it's book 2 I was able to read it and get into it. The chapters were short aswell. Read in two sittings. I did like Lauren and Henry. I liked how they were with each other. I loved Amy her friend. I did feel for Lauren. I just wanted to jump in and hug her. I loved the ending. Can't wait for the next book. 4*.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is the second book in the Until series by Lilly Henderson.
This time we are following Lauren and Henry, two friends of Amy and Ben from book 1.

Lauren works at the same office as Amy and Ben, and Henry is one of the band players and Ben's friends. Lauren and Henry have known each other about a year, however she doesn't know anything about Henry's day job until he walks into her office!

Lauren has a traumatic past and therefore it's difficult for her to trust men. She sees Henry as a big flirt and not as relationship material. However they both can't deny the *spark* they are feeling when they are in close proximity.

Henry works for his dad who is the CEO of the company. His dad wants him to take over as the next CEO and therefore work is the most important thing and having a girlfriend is only a distraction.

Can Lauren overcome her past and see Henry for the good guy he really is? Can Henry stand up to his father and break out of the friendzone?

Read it in this friends to lovers, billionaire romance, and discover if they are meant to be!

Until We Surrender is the second book in the Until romance series. Lauren has a past that has left her broken and uneasy with relationships. She’s recently developed feelings for her friend, Henry, but is unsure if she should act on them. Her past has scarred her for future relationships and she’s skittish. When the line between friendship and lovers is crossed, will Lauren be able to move past her past and explore all that Henry has to offer?

I love a good friends to lovers romance and this book delivered! Lauren and Henry are the type of main characters I love seeing. Lauren is strong and independent, but haunted by her past and Henry is the lovable good guy who you can’t help but root for. Instead of just being a sunshine and rainbows type of romance, this book pulls in a little more drama and danger related to Lauren’s past and I think this is the perfect way to offset the sweet romance between the main characters. I liked this element and think it added so much to the storyline. The steamy scenes in this book were also the perfect addition to everything else. Overall this is a really enjoyable romance book that is worth the read! I haven’t read the first book in this series, but am definitely going to go back and do so.

i’ve had the honor of being an arc reader for lilly’s second book ‘until we surrender’. henry is a ceo’s son in training to take over the company one day. lauren is an assistent in another company. the pair has met at a pub in where henry plays with his band every friday night and share mutual friends. for a year they’ve been just friends and when they realized they’re having feelings for each other they’re friends start pushing them together. they go through ups and downs together, lauren has a traumatic past in relationships and henry is very understanding 🥹💘. i really loved this book.

the slow burn, the realization that lauren loves henry but finds out too late 🥹 the necessary plot twists i loved intensely!! and i had hoped her ex would show up 🤭 thank you for this amazing opportunity lilly!! 💘

life happened and it took me a longer time to read the book but i promise once you start reading it’s a struggle to put it away

Simple, quick friends-to-lovers romance

CW: domestic abuse

This was a quick read that I picked up after the author came up in a suggested post on social media. This is the only book I’ve read by this author. Overall, the story is a pretty cute friends-to-lovers romance. Includes a cutesy nickname, office setting, spicy scenes, he “falls” first, and a MMC that actually wants to talk about feelings (here for that!)

Just a couple things I struggled with:
Some phrases were used over and over again. “My hormones went crazy”, so many “shivers” and “flinches”, “Look at me, please”, and “just friends” was also said repeatedly and felt a bit drawn out, even for friends-to-lovers.

Also, the third-act break-up. Without giving too much away, the timing was bizarre to me. Like, surely in that moment he would have been the MOST patient and understanding with her hesitations? But then the resolution also felt rushed when her therapist gave her a sudden revelation.

This is the second book that I’ve read in the Until romance series. This book focuses on the friends to lovers office romance between Henry and Lauren. I’m a sucker for the friends to lovers trope! Henry and Lauren have an obvious crush on each other that their friends try to push them to explore. Lauren is relationship-averse due to an abusive relationship in her past and Henry is worried about ruining their friendship. When they do get together, sparks fly. They need to work through their own obstacles on the way to their happy ending though, which results in a third act breakup (one of my least favorite tropes). Overall a fast paced read for anyone in the mood for a sweet and steamy low stakes read.
