Interesting overview of the story of the Clyde and its chequered history of use for trading, transport and shipbuilding. Some interesting photographs show the scale of the activity and also reveal that, despite our romantic memories, the riverside areas and the industry they spawned were ugly and desolate and the river itself foul. Useful for present day Glaswegians to appreciate that the present city is magnificent and is complimented by a post-industrial river which is again clean and its riverbanks are again enjoyable.
