For three years, Sebastian has lived as a blood slave, giving his blood and body to vampires. He’s a prisoner, owned by the blood house he serves. Sebastian dreams of freedom, of feeling the sun and wind on his face once again.

Valentin has earned the title of vampire prince. But status and age haven’t brought him love. When his blood craving grows too demanding to be ignored, he goes to the blood house and finds himself entranced by the spirited Sebastian.

Their passion is strong, their connection to each other undeniable. Sebastian wants to be Valentin’s, and Valentin wants to keep Sebastian—forever. The danger of giving the blood slave his freedom is high and the price might be both their lives.

Blood and cake!

Don't let the blurb scare you. This has mild angst, some comfort and healing, and evil vamps running slave houses, but mostly this is all about love.

Never thought I would giggle at the antics of two vampires, a demon, and a demon's pet, who looks like a badass prehistoric crocodile but has a heart of gold (just stay on his good side).

Valentin and Sebastian couldn't get enough of each other, so there was lots of smexing and biting.

I'd love to read sequels about Baz and Sal.

3.5 HEARTS--"Everyone needs some brain candy once in a while."

What do you get when you mix the Vampire Diaries (minus the whiny teens--on second thought these vampires in the book were on the melodramatic/ cutesy side for being so old), the Care Bears (there must be a Sugar Gumdrop Care Bear that can also drop fang) and Benny Hill -like antics from paranormal folk?

Why, "Vampire Prince" by S.J. Frost, of course.

Twenty year old blood forced sex slave Sebastian has not see daylight in three years. He's a kidnapped runaway forced to service vampires any way they want on threat of death in a blood slave whore-house type of establishment. The bricked walls, rape and harsh life is getting to him and he longs for death to end his hellish life. His life went from crap (his parents are homophobic bigots who kicked teen Sebastian out for being gay) to crappier (abuse from vampire patrons and evil housemaster Wesley and cronies). One night changes his life when a vampire British prince, Valentin Wyndham, comes into the shabby establishment because he was too hungry to resist paying for a meal. Valentin is dazzled by Sebastian and can't help but show Sebastian a bit of kindness. He seduces, treats Sebastian like a human and listens.

And whoo boy did they have hot sex too. The two start this sexy little vampire protector/ slave relationship that amps up hot sex and possessive feelings within a few days. In paranormal romances, I'm not picky about insta-love as much. And I let some sweetened practices slide sometimes too.

And this book is filled with sugar.

Lots.
Tons.
Heaps.

These vampires and other supernatural folk were basically paranormal versions of the Care Bears. See even the Bears agree with me.

Also with a cast of characters, there's Valentin's vampire cousin and housemate, Basil who's memorable characteristic is giving Sebastian sex advice on screwing his cousin and being nice, Sal, the smack talking demon of love and other housemate, Beezle, Sal's supernatural reptilian spirit animal, a witch named Calvin, tons of jerk vampires, evil vampire cronies...tons of characters.

The plot weakened in the second half, the cast of characters adding to it. A lot of TSTL choices were made by nearly all. What saved this book? The sex and Sal.

Sal! *breathy sigh*

What a breath of much needed snarky, fresh air. He's funny, he's a ginger and a demon. Sometimes he got caught up into the cutesy, diabetic vibe of the Paranormal Care Bears crew...I mean, he's a member. But he's not as sugar laden as the other two. Plus, he has a cool pet, Beezle, creature from the other side.

My favorite Sal quote:>

"He's a stiff old vamp, that's for damn sure. But maybe you're just what he needs to loosen him up. But as Baz said, it'll take a lot of patience. And lube. Lots of lube. I think that might be more important than patience."

I read there with be a sequel to this book. I plan on reading it and hope Sal is a MC. I hope he won't be injected with too much sugar and lose his sense of coolness. I'll be sad if he turns mushy like his mushy friends regardless of his demon powers.

But this story could not be carried on Sal's shoulders, sadly. It lost its steam and replaced it with sweetened mush. *pouts*

Now my issues:

- the weaker second half - once love was on the table so did the main character's common sense. Seriously, the melodramatic declarations of not living if the other one died, or a human playing martyr to save paranormal beings that could level crowds with their powers and weapons or sugar diarrhea that splattered all over with no end in sight...what happened to the strong sexy first half? That was great! The second half...eh, not so much. Plus, I start looking at Valentin, Basil and Sal as the Paranormal Care Bears because they laid their friendship-love-family schtick pretty heavy. I was okay for the first couple of mushy cheesy lines because it was kinda cute. But after the tenth time...cut it out. Even Sal commented on the mushiness. Gag me with a spoon.

- the paranormal Care Bears way of handling things - What the hell man? Valentin hinted at being this super mega bad ass with a temper. (I'll admit he did a few moves in the beginning) But he let the bad guys go and just drew out the inevitable. And then the bad guys were weak too, plotting and pushing out their chest to see who could be the lamest of the lame. (newsflash: Both Wesley and Caden were tied) But it was like reading a Benny Hill-esque version of badassery. They're just running around, breathing hot air, puffing out their chests and not getting anything done. Ugh, wimps. *rolls eyes* They talked everything to death, feelings and emotions instead of just killing anyone who messed with Sebastian. Hello, did you guys forget, you are supernatural beings, not humans?

- the mush - Yep, I'm still gagging.

- the cliches - Sweet Cheesus, I didn't put the cutesy name of Valentin and his birthday together (one guess what famous lovey-dovey holiday?) until 3/4 of the way in. C'mon! *giggles*

Despite my issues and cavities, there is a plot. Strong? I guess. And I plan on reading the sequel. And I love the Vampire Diaries (television show) and even when the gang on the show talks their way to death and make the same sweeping declarations and dedications...I still watch. And I finished this book with a smile on my face (jury's out if it was from laughing at the book or smiling at the characters). So maybe I do agree with my opening quote and the book, a little "brain candy" never hurts sometimes. The characters were decent enough, some more than others *cough*Sal*cough*. I liked the unexpected twist with Malcolm (Valentin's scorned lover). I have feeling Calvin and Malcolm might return in future book(s). I'd also like to see this.

The story is HEA (could you expect any less from mush?), heavy on the romance, likable (sometimes eye roll worthy) characters and decent paranormal world. I do like the hierarchy of vampires and the tie British nobility rankings to age as well.

Story's readable but might be appreciated more by readers who like to mainline sugar and enjoy more humanized supernatural beings.

P.S. Being as this was a purchased book (at quite a steep price), I must comment about the poor editing. There were glaringly obvious typos that I'm shocked the editor did not pick up. This did not affect my rating but I felt it should be known.

God, I loved this book so much. I wanted to read this for so long and I finally got around to it. Was it as good as I thought it would be? No. It was even better than I anticipated. S.J. Frost has made me fall in love with another set of her characters. And this time, it's vampires again.

I know from experience that she writes very sweet, sexy books that always leave me wanting more. Her MC's are always wonderful. Always. But she also does secondary characters really well and I think these are probably my favorites of hers so far. I so want books for Baz and Sal (and Beezle, of course), but I also want more from Sebastian and Valentin. Even if she does something similar like her Instincts series, I would be so happy with that. I'm not even kidding, it would make my day if I heard she was doing that.

Anyway, back to this book. Vampire Prince is a very fitting title because Valentin, the vampire in this book, has reached Vampire Prince status. He meets Sebastian in a blood house when he goes to feed. Unlike most vampires, Valentin won't take a blood slave unless they are willing and he's a lot nicer than most vampires. That confuses Sebastian who isn't used to being treated nicely by the vampires who feed off of him. And soon after they meet, a connection is formed and they start to develop feelings for each other. But things happen and everything gets more than a little messy.

Some people might expect a really dark, angsty book. But Sebastian and Valentin were a very solid couple after a while. Nothing stupid happened between them anyway and it was mostly outside things that added in a bit of drama. Everything was wrapped up perfectly in this one, even if I was left wanting more. And I can't wait to see if S.J. Frost turns this into a series.

Vampire Prince is definitely a book I would recommend to people. Even if you're not overly fond of vampires, I think you would like this for the characters alone. It's really very good.

Definitely NOT what I expected when I saw the words “blood slave” LOL.

All right, the book was not without flaws – which I will mention later – but sometimes, I need a book that is light and easy. I was a bit weary approaching this, due to the words “blood slave, giving his blood and body to vampires” on the blurb. I was not in the mood for a dark story. But some of my friends’ reviews made me decide to jump on it.

Well, it turned out that this story was sweet. Yep. Sweet. Not exactly what I imagined from the blurb *haha*. While Sebastian did start as a prisoner, his ‘bad life’ happened off screen, before the story started. Once he met Valentine, it was clear that this vampire prince would take him out of his prison. Yes, there was a case of instant attraction – and quick progress of falling in love followed by the mushy romance … but somehow the easiness of S.J. Frost’s writing made the story enjoyable.

The secondary characters were really fun to read as well – Basil (Valentine’s cousin) and an amusing demon named Sal, along with his alligator pet, Beezle. These characters raked up the entertainment factor. So yes, it was smooth and practically no significant issues that added to the thrill (well, there was one with Sebastian’s master, but it was also solved rather quickly) but again, it was what I needed.

Or maybe I was in a good mood.

I did feel the plan to separate Sebastian from Valentine as rather silly. I wouldn’t spoil it, but I just thought it was a very poor plan, and the fact that Sebastian fell for it, well, that was just stupidity on his part (or a lazy plot from the author).

I really hope that there will be two more stories. Maybe Sal and his witchy poo and Basil with Malcolm? Because I was feeling delicious tension there near the end for Basil and Malcolm.

I really hope that there will be another book with these characters. I honestly don't think I could pick a favorite, they just were all great, including Beezle. I can see another story (or least I am hoping for one) with Sal and Calvin, I think that would be great, I can only imagine what that relationship will be like, especially with Sal calling him witchy-poo already. Then of course we have to have one for Basil. I have a soft spot for vampire stories and this one really worked for me.

Vampires, blood slaves, exes, and a wise cracking demon, what fun! A bit of instalove, but I expected that going in from this author. Still, a very solid story. It has another thing I've come to expect from this author, a deep, caring friendship among the men, which is always nice

Dare I hope for sequels for Basil and Sal? Maybe Sal and the witch, Calvin?

Is this gonna be a series? Because it REALLY needs to be a series. Or at least have a sequel for my new favorite demon Sal and his pet crocodile Beezle. They stole every scene they were in and I simply have to have more. Of everybody. Valentin and Sebastian are already perfect for each other and smoking hot together , Valentin's cousin Basil has a big heart and great sense of humor so I think he needs a man of his own, and of course I'd like to see Sal help out witch Calvin, who seems to have some sadness in his life that only Sal and his special brand of magic (and underwear) can cure. Throw in some more evil foes and their stupid minions and it's all good. This was a very enjoyable read for me so I'd like some more please. :)

This was a really good book. For three years, Sebastian has lived as a blood slave. Prince Valentin is a 300 year old vampire who moved to Georgia with his cousin and a friend. He visits the blood house and is taken with Sebastian and the owner of the house doesn't like so he decides to teach him a lesson and Valentin doesn't like it. Valentin buys Sebastian and gives him his freedom. This was a very good book that I have been wanting to read for awhile. The sex scenes in this book were hot. I also liked that Valentin's cousin and his friend were willing to protect Sebastian. I am hoping that Ms. Frost writes a book two. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling like all of Ms. Frost books. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Fun. That's how I would describe this read. Yes, it was heartbreaking seeing Sebastian treated so awful at the beginning but then we got Basil and Sal. We did have quite a bit of sticky sweet here but it didn't feel over the top to me. Vampires using blood slaves, vampires fighting vampires, demons fighting vampires and witches summoning demons, we had it all. Completely enjoyable and I really want to read Bas and Sal's stories!

One of my all time favorite m/m authors has a new vampire romance out? Yes please!

I just LOVED this! I adored Sebastian and he was just perfect for Valentin. They were just smokin' hot together and I loved their chemistry right from the get go. I really liked the world building in this and I especially liked that it was different enough from her other vampire series that it was still fresh and new. Terrific start to what I hope will be a series.

So now I want Sal's story!

Just finished rereading one of my favorite vampire romances. I still loved it. I hope the author will release the series again. I lost the copies of the next two books in the series *cries* Still, Vampire Prince is definitely a good, comforting read for me and it was really nice to revisit some old friends.

3.5 Stars ~ "The vampires had taken everything from him. Not that he had much to begin with, but he wouldn’t let them have his emotions, his mind, his heart."

I really like sinking my teeth into a good vampire story. Yeah, I know, that was totally corny. Too bad! When I read the description for 'Vampire Prince' by SJ Frost, I thought the idea of blood slaves and houses to hold them in sounded interesting. Not to mention, I was looking forward to Sebastian finding his prince to save him.

Sebastian broke my heart right from the get-go. Kicked out of his house at seventeen when his dad discovered he was gay, Sebastian spent three months living hand to mouth on the streets of Atlanta, until a man gave him an offer he couldn't refuse. Of course, it wasn't a man, it was a vampire who is master of a rather deplorable blood house. The vampires even call them donors, as if they have a choice in the matter. For over three years Sebastian has suffered, until the night he meets Valentin, a vampire prince.

Valentin is over three hundred years old, which in vampire hierarchy earns him the title of prince. Very quickly he becomes attached to Sebastian - his strength of will, his wit, his passion - and continues to visit him at the blood house. Until the night the house master, Wesley, tries to undermine him, resulting in a fight with another vampire who was abusing Sebastian, and leads to Valentin buying Sebastian's blood contract. What happens now, though, when Valentin takes Sebastian home and frees him?

Valentin and Sebastian have a few misunderstandings and miscommunications to work through, but eventually life settles down. Of course, Wesley isn't going to stop trying to get Sebastian back, since all of his other "donors" have begun to rebel after witnessing Sebastian leaving. Unfortunately for Wesley, he has no idea the power that Valentin, Basil his cousin, and Sal their demon roommate, have at their disposal. That doesn't stop him from finding an old "friend" of Valentin's who is willing to betray him again, though.

A very enjoyable vampire read. I liked that Valentin and Sebastian found their true love with each other. Some of the ending was predictable, but there were enough shocks I didn't see coming to make it all worthwhile. I'm looking forward to the next book, and to seeing more of all of these men.

4.5 STARS

I have been on a m/m romance kick as of late and pair that with one of my favorite genres, paranormal, and the Vampire Prince had me hooked from the absolute start. I could not put this one down and wanted more when I finished. This is one hot erotic read and I loved it. What I wouldn’t do to be a fly in their bedroom.

A Vampire Prince is a title given when a vampire reaches a certain again. Valentin knew immediately that he wanted Sebastian as his own, and not just for his blood either. He will stop at nothing to have Sebastian, just the thought of another being with his Sebastian brings out his jealous side something fierce. He hasn’t found love in the long time he has been a vampire but all that could change if he can have Sebastian. Valentin, OMG he is extremely sexy, thoughtful, protective, and while he at times can be uptight he is willing to try new things just for Sebastian.

Sebastian wasn’t a blood slave by choice, he had been tricked into and had no idea what was expected of a normal willing blood slave. He hated vampires, he knew that his death would come eventually from one. He didn’t know how to react to the treatment he received from Valentin, he never had a vampire want to pleasure him as well as have their own. He quickly begins to fall for Valentin and when he is removed from the hell he has been forced into, he falls even harder. I love how he didn’t hide his emotions when it came to Valentin, and showed him that it was ok to fall in love.

I loved the other characters in the book as well, Valentin’s cousin Basil and their resident demon Sal with his pet added humor and just made me want to reads books on them as well. Please write books for Basil and Sal, please, pretty please. S.J. Frost was a new author for me, and one that I am going to add to my ever growing list of authors to explore more.

Whoa!!!! The blurb was so scary! Using words like "blood slave" "kidnapped" and I even add wrong tags like "abuse" to this book! That was BEFORE read it!

*This story is soooooooooooooo (infinite "o") sweet! It's romantic, erotic (there is A LOT of sex scenes) and NO DARKNESS at all! Neither angst! It's really a VERY romantic book.

*All secondary characters were AMAZING! But this is not a surprise. I read S.J.Frost before, I knew her stories were full of great characters. My favorite? SAL! Obviously! So sarcastic and so freaking FUNNY his badass pet!!!! I WANT A SEQUEL WITH HIM!!!!!!!

*Ok, I must admit it was sort of ridiculous the way the "bad guys" acted in the story. Reeeeeeeeeally ridiculous and absurd, BUT I don't care! It's so romantic I can forgive such easy plot.
I must admit I love so much the book I will not give less stars because of the obvious conclusion of Sebastian problems in the blood house... But... I hope next books (I WANT A SEQUEL!!!) will have less moronic evil guys.

LOVED IT! <3 I read it all in one sitting and wanted more! Didn't want it to end! Hopefully we get to see the other characters introduced in the novel, get their own book as well. I loved Bastien and Valentin. Their chemistry was HOT! I really love S.J.Frost's characters that she writes, and enjoy reading all her books ^^ she's one of my favorite authors, and you all should check out her other series as well if you haven't =D I want to know what happens to Sal and Calvin ^^ I seem to sense something happening here lol as well as Basil and his story. Maybe even throw Malcolm in the mix as well, I wanna know what happens to him, and what he did after that horrible thing that he did.... I actually started to like him towards the end. Overall, a great read and a great first start to a series in the making?? I hope so ^^

REVIEWED FOR PRISM BOOK ALLIANCE

I seem to be on a run of Vampire books at the moment and this one did not disappoint!

When Sebastian is kicked out of his home with barely the clothes on his back by his bigoted parents his life just carries on going downhill. Picked up off the streets and offered food and shelter leads him into signing away his life for the next 3 years. He has signed an unending contract as a blood slave and now his life revolves around staying healthy enough to feed vampires.
In his time at the blood house he has been beaten and abused but still manages to cling to a small part of his old self. He dreams of being able to go outside once more to see the sun and the stars but is enough of a realist to understand the only way he will leave will be through death. His defiance has kept him alive so far but even that has its limits.
Valentin is a centuries old vampire and has earned the title of Prince. He prefers to hunt rather than use blood houses but as he has just relocated he makes an exception. That decision will change his life and start mending his heart. A century ago he gave his heart to a blood slave who used him for what he could get and then left him alone. He is now cold and cautious when it comes to other humans.
This changes almost the moment he sets eyes on Sebastian. He is completely taken with his beauty and calm strength. The pair seem almost drawn to each other and Valentin is the first of his kind to show Sebastian any kindness. As hard as the young blood slave fights the attraction Valentin breaks down his walls. He asks for his opinion and listens to his answers and shows Sebastian respect, something no vampire has done in all his time there. The Vampire returns night after night and suddenly Sebastian has allowed himself to start dreaming of freedom and a life with his handsome Vampire. Even if it can never happen the hope alone soothes his soul.
When Wesley the tyrannical housemaster feels that Sebastian has been spoiled and is receiving preferential treatment from the Prince he brings in a vampire brute to teach him a lesson. As this lesson is being taught Valentin arrives and saves Sebastians life.
If Valentin can help Sebastian out of the blood house what will become of his life?
Loved the characters in this and that both the MC’s were so wary of trusting their hearts for such different reasons. Sebastians resilience was amazing! I have my fingers crossed for a sequel....surely there is someone out there that could love a demon 

Ok, I loved this book. It is probably a 4.5, but I am biased about this author. She can write a great descriptive love story with action and great characters (always great characters). This book is about Sebastian who is a "blood slave" imprisoned in Savannah, Georgia who had been (I know you will be shocked) kicked out of his house for being gay(It makes me want to go start a Lost Boys home for all gay teens who are kicked out by their homophobic, bigoted ass hole families who should be brought up on charges of abandonment, for this kids).

These blood slaves or "donors"' are used by Vampires for blood and sex or whatever they want for pleasure. Sebastian is a feisty 20 yr old that has been there for three yrs when he is picked by Valentin, (the Prince) and who connects instantly through attraction. He is also the first Vamp that shows Sebastian, respect.

The blood house is run by greedy, arrogant ass, named Wesley, who coerces his slaves to sign blood contracts that sign their lives away. When Wesley is humiliated by Valentin, he plans on making Sebastian unavailable for Valentin when is comes back for his third day in a row. Caden, the abusive Vamp who likes to teach slaves a lesson, is abusing Sebastian, when all Hell breaks loose.

Valentin ends up humiliating Wesley, beating Caden, and buying the blood contract from Wesley to free Sebastian. This begins a revolt among the other slaves. As Wesley starts to lose money and "face" because of the loss of one of his prized possessions, he plans revenge on both Sebastian and Valentin with Caden's help.

During the planning to recapture the prize, Sebastian regains his freedom while trying to build a relationship and trust with Valentin. Valentin has his own issues to conquer as well.

These characters are great. Frost has a way of describing and intertwining funny, sad, serious, and sadistic characters in one book.

I cannot say who my favorite character is in the book, there are so many. I loved Sal, the love demon, Basil, the cousin vamp, and Beezle (the morphing croc). I even loved Malcolm (ex lover vamp) and Calvin (witchy poo) (a little). Benny, the vamp ass kisser, not so much :). You cannot help but love the main characters, Sebastian and Valentin.

I hope this is a series and we get to read about Basil and Sal (with Calvin). Enjoy the read, it is not earth shattering, but very entertaining and kept my interest from the first chapter until the end. Worth the read!

REVIEW @Scattered Thoughts and Rogue Words

Vampire Prince is the story of Sebastian, a young man taken from the streets three years ago by Wesley with promises of a better life (or at least some food) and brought in his blood house as a blood slave, where people like him, runaways and people no one is going to miss, are used and abused by vampires. This mansion is become his prison, but he has no choice, he needs to stay safe and play the good boy, pretending to enjoy the entertainment he provides vampires. But Sebastian is really tired, three year in this life are really too much and he knows the time for his death is near.

Prince Valentine has just moved to Savannah from England. He doesn’t like the kind of blood house he’s going to, but it’s his only choice at the moment to not become a danger with his thirst. There he meets Sebastian and the insta-attraction will bring them to a sweet and steamy relationship.

I enjoyed this story a lot, I haven’t read the previous edition so I’m not sure about differences or changes SJ Frost made in the plot/writing. I found the writing good and I was surprised by the plot, I was waiting for the usual “vampire story”, instead I got an interesting and original book, light and funny. I felt soon a connection with Valentine and Sebastian, both well developed and likeable.

I can say I am particularly curious to read the next books in this series. Sal and Basil, Valentine’s friends, were both so well done, sometimes took away attention from the MCs.

The reason why I can’t give Vampire Prince an higher rating is that I often found myself bored by too many sex scenes and sugary sentences (a little too much even for me). Still I can’t wait for the next one.

Cover art by Scarlet Tie designs. I really like this cover, it’s mysterious and dark, and it soon caught my attention

While I rate this 4 stars, I can't really recommend it due to the price. It was $7.35 on Amazon and $8.99 on ARe (but I got it cheaper since I got a rebate). If I am going to shell out that much, I really expect perfection. I got a sweet story, but also typos that even I picked up on and I don't really notice things like that.

Yes, I liked the story. I liked Sebastian and Valentin. I liked Sal and Baz. I liked Beezle. I loved Sebastian's attitude. I loved Valentin's support.

I am hoping to see some sequels here, cause I loved Sal's personality :) Ooo...can you see him getting all protective over someone?! EEK! WANT!

I liked it. Thought it was a good read and it paced well. I personally feel the two main characters fell in love too quickly, but it moved with the story's pace and not against it so it's not a complaint- just my opinion. I liked all the characters but I really enjoyed Sallos and his sense of humor. I would also love to know more about Calvin's story since he was introduced at the end. All in all a nice quick read! :)
