She is happiest with her nose in a book, pinned down by a cat, or surrounded by nature; whether that's lying on the grass or diving in the ocean.

✨3.75 (rounded to 4) 🌶️4.25 📖~405 📚Anthology with 12 short stories 🎬Halloween romance ❓Would I Recommend? Yes!
✏️Review: Things Get Dark arranged by Katherine Isaac et al is a Halloween romance anthology featuring 12 short stories with various characters and slightly differing plots, but all venturing towards the same goal: giving the reader a spooky, and spicy, Halloween read!
🔥 Demons and witches 🔥Masked men 🔥Haunted houses 🔥 MF, MM, FF, MF+ 🔥Elements of horror 🔥and more!
My two favorites were Ouija Oopsie by K.L. Thorne and One Fateful Halloween by Isla Harding. I found the characters in these super fun, and extra felt their connections, even in such a short span of pages. If that didn’t intrigue you enough, Ouija Oopsie features a lust demon MMC with an Australia accent and double 🍆. You’re welcome. One Fateful Halloween is MMMMF+ and was done so well, every MMC was distinct and intriguing, and the FMC felt like she fit right in, versus being forced in, story wise.
I broke reading this anthology up into 2 or 3 stories at a time in between other books, because the overall theme of Halloween and some repeating tropes/plotlines started to feel a little repetitive, so I would recommend this approach if you’re feeling like you’re losing steam.
This anthology is a worthy addition your spooky tbr, if you’re also down for the spice!
A little bit of aliens on the side, a little bit of masked men know how to hide, a little bit of why choose for the ride 😈
12 Authors - 12 dark Halloween stories 🎃 Some authors you will recognise, some you may not. One is a a new author and this is his debut, and I have to say his writing is WTF profound, I hope he continues.
⛔️ᵣₑₐd ₜₕₑ ₜᵣᵢggₑᵣ wₐᵣₙᵢₙgₛ⛔️
The stories are set on all hallowes eve, there is a variety of scenarios, some darker than others, smut, why choose, masked men, haunted experiences, primal there may or may not be demons involved 😈 there may or may not be tails and double 🍆 However, as you know I don’t give spoilers away, as such I’m not at liberty to it divulge too much 🖤 I totally enjoyed it.
Things get dark anthology- Absolutely everything that you could ever want out of a Halloween dark romance anthology! I have added all of these authors to my TBR and I can’t wait to read more by every single one of them. Very well done! 🚨 Attention authors Please please please give me extended versions of these stories. 🙏
Ouija Oopsie- Well that was fast and hot! This is what I love/hate about anthologies. I get sucked into a story and then I’m hooked and I want more. Do I get more Az in the future? Because I would like to…Such a sweet little smegs demon 🫠
Hadeon’s Prey- Ooooooooo boy was that a spicy little story…does Hadeon get a happy ending because that ending hurt my heart for Darcy. This is one of my favorite Halloween tropes and you knocked it out of the park.
One fateful Halloween- Lexi is a little firecracker and I am here for it. Oh my goodness, these four mmcs had me clutching my pearls… I would love an extended version of this story, please please please I need more! I normally have a favorite when it comes toRh, I do not in this case… I need more please 🙏
House of the damned- Oh this little story hurts my heart for Nox, Callan & Levi. I love a hea, and as much as I loved the ending, I need more from these characters asap please and thank you. Loved the world building and these three mmcs got the spicy that I love with dark romance. Can I pretty please have more?!?
Prey for us- Oop. This 👏one 👏is 👏my 👏favorite 👏👏👏! Thank you for confirming there will be more to this story cuz imma need it asap please and thank you. I love/hate anthologies because they’re such a tease with stories. I love a thicc girl rh and add in haunted mazes, sold- give me 14 of ‘em… ooooo I can’t wait for the full book version of this 🖤
See you next fall- Ooooo boy this short story was DARK and I am here for it. Tilly and her guys are great and the tension was superb. Please tell me we get more of their story in the near future? I have so many questions.
Fright Night- Good lord gravy…this was everything that I wanted from the Devil’s night series by PD that she didn’t give me… This author DELIVERED!! She understood the assignment! Oooofff I need a cold shower after that short story…I totally would not be sad to see more from these characters **hint hint**
Manifesting Manon- Oooooo please tell me this story turns into a full length novel?!? I’m not one who usually reads FF but the story might have to changed my mind. Manon is hilarious and I need to see more of her. Poor Poppy, her struggles tugged at my heart strings but I am loving the support Manon is giving her 💖
Atlantis- Well sh¡t, that was the trippiest thing I’ve ever read…very intense and I’m not sure how I feel about it. The writing was absolutely fantastic though.
Seeds- ooooooo who loves a good cult romance?!? This chick right here. This was all the kinds of spicy that I love from dark romance and the twins and their dirty mouths…wooo had this girl melting…🫠 I would love to see a full length novel for these three. Gimme more please and thank you
Pretty little nightmares- Oooooo this could be the start to an annual comfort read for me. This start of a rh with masked men just makes my heart go pitter patter…oof that whole little smutty story is going to live in my mind for a long time to come…please make it a full length 🙏
Little rabbit- Dang Mora… I thought I was getting one thing with the story, but I got a completely different thing. That surprise was amazing… I would absolutely love to see more of these three. Who doesn’t love a shifter story, especially one that is mostly a chase scene, woo! This girl needs a cold shower…when does the full length book come out?
“We’re going to get on like a house on fire, I can already tell.” -Az
So which Roomba needs to be purchased to summon a sexier than sin demon? All in the name of science. 😉😈 Listen. My house would be so clean you could eat off the floor. Two? That is a great two for one.
Hadeon’s Prey:
Her demon in terror and darkness rocked her world then disappeared? Oh hell no. He is a red flag and you deserve better!!!
One Fateful Halloween:
Oh Lexi. What she did for her safety will haunt her. It would anyone. What needs to happen now is she stays with the boys. Let them take care of you!!!
House of the Damned:
“Ew, people like that are the worst. They deserve a punch in the nose and LEGOs in their shoes.” -Lena
How come my town doesn’t have fun events like this? My crazy self would be going every year. Nana would be clutching her pearls, so details of the events would not be discussed. Hopefully no one sees me smiling like a loon thinking of it all though.
Prey For Us:
“I’d love to give you pleasurable memories of giving up control.” -The Plague Doctor
Whoa. Wait. She didn’t choose them? But… No… Ahhh… Go back. Right. Now!!!
See You Next Fall:
That is not a place where I want my hand to be when my internal clock wakes me. Nope. Gross 🤢 So… When do we get more of this story?
Fright Night:
“But for me, a curious young woman with a fascination for the macabre, Fright Night is not a time to cower in fear.” -Little Hare
What? So many questions are running through my head. Ma’am. When are we getting the rest of this. Holy crap.
Manifesting Manon:
“Popping candy, my little Halloween snack, I need you to come for me.” -Manon
Real quick that doesn’t have a lot to do with the story, I hate the worst demure now. It is a real word that apparently is “cool slang” all of a sudden. When I hear it now my eyes roll of their own accord.
Back to the book. I need this in a full length novel. Please and thank you.
Atlantis:
“But self-promotion has never been my thing. Anything involving making the first move in social situations has never been my thing.” -Jamie
Umm… What. I kind of understand, but I really don’t understand. That was over my head a bit. Yeah…
Seeds:
So filthy. Just how it should be. Question: What happens now? Will there be more? Please say yes.
Pretty Little Nightmares:
That is some night. It was a lot for a first time, right? Not mad about it, but there was a lot that seemed off. Maybe she is in shock, but she took it all so well with no anxiousness or taking time to think it through. Hmmm…
Little Rabbit:
Even though this had a little too much Stockholm syndrome for me, it was good. It was the wolf shifters. They would make me stay while they tell me we are mates while they do all the naughty things to me. Wait. What was the question?
Who wants to read a compilation of super smutty sorties? Yes is the only answer here people. My favorite part is they all were set around Halloween. The bestest holiday ever!! 🎃👻💀🐺😈👹
I digress. Hear me out. These were good which made my dark smutty heart happy. As with all anthologies, the stories ended too soon. Where is the rest? Tell me more of the things. When will these been turned into novels? Give. Me. More!!!
Collection of short steamy stories packing a punch of spice as well as spooky/horror factors! Mixed bag of writes and steam levels but overall a great introduction to lots of new to me authors giving me feels for what else they may write as well as getting me in the mood 😉😉 for spooky season 🎃🎃🎃
I am currently only reviewing Ouija Oopsie, and need to take a breather before I read the next one. 🥵 I also need to go buy a roomba and a rug🤣. Loved this story so much, it's funny, filthy and fabulously good! I love K.L.Thorne's book anyway❤️. I'll add to my review as I read the rest 😊

I've never been one for haunted houses and spiders, but hot damn, did I want to be in Hazel's spot. Definitely would be super excited if there was more.

4 ⭐️ 12 short Halloween stories, and I want more from almost all of them! I need to learn that me and short stories like this doesn't mix well, because I need more. They all ended so quick, but I hope we get more fleshed out stories in the future.
What is not to love about an Australian demon, a pink demon, a blood witch and a ton of masked men that like to chase you through the woods? I mean, all the bases were covered here. I bought this on pre-order and while i did wait a bit to read it, it was worth it. This wonderfully spooky anthology of Halloween short stories from these talented authors was incredible. I laughed, i gasped and obviously I kicked my feet and giggled (cause masked men? obvi). If you are looking for a quick read with some great stories, try this one on for size. And if someone offers you and invite to a Fright Night? Take it.
Wonderful collection of short stories! Great read! I look forward to more stories from the different authors that are included in this anthology of stories!
Ouija Oopsie by K.L. Thorne ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “Oh, God!” she cried out,” “You had to go and ruin it by mentioning him, eh?” he said,”
Oh my I need a Roomba it what one is best for summoning a list demon with a little enchanted rug? This was cute little read that was hotter than a house fire. (Wink wink)
“We’re going to get on like a house on fire, I can already tell.”
Hadeon’s Prey by S. Lucas ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This one is hot, Dirty, bloody… Not all sacrifices goes as planned, Instead of being the sacrifice Darcy gets a night she will never forget after being saved by the monster himself.

We’ve got “pimple popper” for a safe word
House of the Damned by Katherine Isaac ⭐️⭐️⭐️ When your date is boring and you get an offer to explore a haunted house why not spice it up the night.
Prey For Us by Natasha Pierce ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Going to the corn maze isn’t the funniest thing when you’re scared of them. All though she finds way to make the nice better.

Seeds by Drea Denae ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Twins Mikeal and Amos share their childhood best friend.

This story was cute and fun I enjoyed it. She was happy in her field of flowers until the big bad wolf came calling.
All in all most of the stories ended to soon I would have loved more. If you’re looking for a spicy Halloween read look no farther.
This anthology consists of a variety of Halloween themed short stories. Some had great potential to be full books. My fav was Manifesting Manon. ——— Ouija Oopsie - K. L. Thorne ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a funny little story. There’s a meme for this scene lol: “Oh, God!” she cried out,” “You had to go and ruin it by mentioning him, eh?” he said,” ——— Hadeon's Prey - S Lucas ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hadeon saved Darcy from a sacrifice, intending on taking them all out but was drawn to her scent & decided to make her his Queen. ——— One Fateful Halloween - Isla Harding ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was an erötic take on a hörror house. Lexi decided to play their game but it ended up going sideways when someone else showed up uninvited. ——— House of the Damned - Katherine Isaac ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I like this one. Hazel tried having a date at the haunted manor & he turned out to be a dud but unexpectedly she ended up getting the scares she wanted in the spirit of Halloween. ——— Prey For Us - Natasha Pierce ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I’m glad the end said this story was gonna be made into a full novel cause I feel like this story was just starting when we met all the mysterious guys. ——— See You Next Fall - TL Hamilton ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tillie seems happily psychö in this one. I feel like this story should also have a continuation. ——— Manifesting Manon - Alice La Roux ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This story had a great start that I’m hoping has a full book coming. I thought Manon’s teasing names for Poppy were kinda funny. ——— Atlantis - Sam J Patterson ⭐️⭐️⭐️ This story was a confusing trip lol. ——— Seeds - Drea Denae ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was an intense glimpse of this cült they’re a part of. I think Reina was confused how she should feel about being claimed by Mikeal & Amos. ——— Fright Night - Crystal North ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This story has lots of potential to being a full book & would def be added to my tbr if it was. ——— Little Rabbit - Whimsy Nimsy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This story was quirky & fun. I would love to see more to their story. ——— Pretty Little Nightmares - Rosa Lee ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ These guys seemed almost feral at first but all had a gentle side too.
What a great collection of short steamy romance with a darker twist. Lots of different stories by some great authors who show there's a fine line between being frighened and being turned on.
⚠️ There are lots of trigger and content warning for each story, so please read them first. ⚠️
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ouija Oopsie by KL Thorne M/F. I love that the s3x demon was summond by a roomba on a ouija rug! This was very spicy with some humour too.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hadeon's Prey by S Lucas M/F. Darker with some violence (baddies) but still very steamy. A sacrifice to Hadeon doesn't exactly go to plan.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ One Fateful Halloween by Isa Harding MMMF. Fearless Lexi visits a Halloween experience attraction and experiences something completely different than expected.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ House of the Damned by Katherine Isaac RH. Hazel 's date is boring, so when she gets an offer to explore a haunted house, she can't resist.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Prey For Us by Natasha Pierce RH. Alex has a fear of mazes, so a spooky farm with some pseudo friends isn't her first choice, but she finds someone to distract her.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ See You Next Fall by TL Hamilton RH. This was the darkest one so far. Tillie does what she needs to to make sure her guys are with her on their special night.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Manifesting Manon by Alice La Roux FF. Poppy summonds a demon to help her find her magic. This book ends with a .... to be continued.
⭐⭐⭐ Atlantis by Sam J Patterson MM. No steam. This wasn't dark. It was a wild psychedelic experience. Very descriptive.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seeds by Drea Denae MFM. Twins Mikeal and Amos are dark and light, and tonight, they finally get to share their childhood best friend.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fright Night by Crystal North MFMMMM. She returns to her hometown to learn the mystery of the Halloween night screams but falls prey to a group of guys instead.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Little Rabbit by Whimsy Nimsy RH. She was happy in her field of flowers until she wasn't alone anymore.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Pretty Little Nightmares by Rosa Lee RH. Foxglove goes into a Halloween themed abandoned theme park with her friend, only to get separated and then chased.
A book for a good cause. I love reading books like this where you get little taste from different authors
Ouija Oopsie This is fast paced and just hot. We have all wondered what would happen if you have a ouija rug and a Roomba.... well this one tells you what could happen
Hadeons Prey This is just hot and dirty fun with a monster who saves the girl and gives her an amazing night One Fateful Halloween When you sign consent forms? Always read the fine print. One night definitely changes her life and theirs House of the Damned A fun night at a haunted mansion with a bad date turns very interesting. Just beware of the spiders Prey for Us Going with friends to a maze and being the DD, didn't really sound like much fun but something changed when she handed over her ticket. And left her phone behind. See You Next Fall Once a year she gets a night with her men, Tilly hopes that soon she will be with them for longer than just one night Fright Night Fright night is a night when most people stay inside where it's safe. But something happened years ago and she needs to know if what she saw was real or not. She just never expected to encounter them Manifesting Manon Just wanting some powers, she tries to summon a demon and gets Manon. And a prophecy that she knows nothing about. It will be interesting to see how it goes Seeds They grow up as friends and think they will have to choose. But the brothers make their own rules
I’ve been seeing this one posted about in a few RH groups as being hot and spooky and Halloween but also very dark. Great! Horror-ish erotica novellas! Sounds fun. With the descriptions given I was expecting novellas and little stories along the lines of the ones in the Family Affairs anthologies.
Nope. Just no.
I don’t know what these were but it was nothing like I was expecting. They were like all romcomy?? And super freaking OTT ridiculous. I love campy and these were not even campy. It was cheesy!
We’ve got “pimple popper” for a safe word.
A demon summoned by a roomba who uses the world’s “curvaceous, nubile flesh” and suckle. Gah! The fuck.
They were all wordy too! I was liking one of the them but then the h goes and just has a whole phone conversation with her BFF right in the middle of it. Like why?? Why are we’ve given so much backstory and details in so many of these??
Worst of all the chemistry in these was majorly lacking!
I did enjoy Little Rabbit though. It was still OTT with all the “spearing” of the h but at least it was the most focused and least silly. That one was three stars for me. I liked their chemistry too.
Perfect for the time of season, this charity anthology is full of Halloween goodies that are sure to delight all! These collections are always a hoot because not only do you get snapshot of a story from several authors, some authors a reader may already know and some who can now become new favs, but readers are also giving to a unique cause. For example, each story focuses on a different fear because proceeds of this anthology are donated to No Panic, an organization that helps those will several different anxiety disorders. Readers also have an opportunity to either binge multiple stories or take their time and read one at a time, especially during the busy spooky holiday season. I also love finding out when some of these shorter reads are then expanded into either longer reads or used as novellas in a new or already established series. Some of the novellas to highlight were Prey For Us by Natasha Pierce and House of the Damned by Katherine Isaac. I would love to see an expansion on several of these tales and especially these two! I look forward to checking out more in this collection.
This is an anthology of dark and spooky stories just in time for Hallowe'en.
As with all anthologies, I enjoy dipping in and picking up stories from authors I know and love, and finding new ones to follow.
See You Next Fall by TL Hamilton, is the tale of how Tillie resurrects her men each year on Samhain. This is short and steamy, and leaves me so many questions - what happened to bring them to this situation, what Tillie does the rest of the year, and how they can solve their situation long term.
Fright Night by Crystal North is the story of a woman going back to her home town to find out what exactly happens on Fright Night, and learning that the truth is maybe more than you want to know.
All the stories have a list of warnings at the start - as I said these are dark stories, so please read these carefully for each one.
Overall, this is a great mix of spooky stories which are perfect for this time of year.
Great charity anthology of dark Halloween stories with romance thrown in.
Prey For Us by Natasha Pierce Read Trigger/Content Warnings first always. A night out with friends leads to experiences that she’ll never forget for one girl that has seen heartbreak. Two experiences help our FMC overcome her fears and push her limits. This was a fast read, but it was engaging and had good bones to it. It is left on a kind of cliffy but it says it’s going to be made into a full story later.
Hadeon’s Prey by S Lucas Read Trigger/Content Warnings first always. When the night goes dark for Darcy she doesn't expect to be rescued by a monster. What starts as a hunt for a monster ends up with him finding his queen and a night they both won't forget. Great story, love the bad guys got what they deserved. Our FMC and MMC had chemistry and a bond.
I honestly loved this anthology! I thought the stories were fantastic. All stories featured lots of spicy fun times. I think my favorite stories were Ouija Oopsie, House of the Damned, Prey for Us and Little Rabbit. I loved the kind of hilarity in Ouija Oopsie - kind of karma but also kind of awesome. House of the Damned was a creepy spice but the all the guys in that story were droolworthy in the best way. Prey for Us was a story I'd love to see become a full novel! I loved the component of the plus-size FMC and how it was never even brought up by any of the guys. I also felt like that plot was great and it was the one cliffhanger in this book that really got me! Little Rabbit I just loved because of who the FMC ends up being. She seems like a total baddie and I love the absolute adoration the guys give her.
Things Get Dark is a charity Anthology and I was able to read Prey for Us by Natasha Pierce.
I'm so excited this will be turning into a novel because I felt like the story was just about to take off by the end!
Alex goes to a haunted house/corn maze with her 'friends' after a night out with Mexican food and margaritas, only they designate her as the driver for the night.
Once they wrap up for the night naturally she realizes she left her phone and has to return the next day... She not only meets the mysterious plague doctor from the night before, but a scarecrow and a clown too.
I cannot wait to see where this goes! It was fun and sexy, with the perfect spooky Halloween vibes! I also plan to read the rest of the anthology when I can and will update my review then. 💛
Prey for Us by Natasha Pierce is so good. You jave Alex who is out with her girlfriends and can't help but feel they aren't really her friends with her being on the plus size and them always having her be the designated driver and other things. When Alex and the girls decide to go to a Halloween festival that is doing pre shows at a farm, the girls all drink except Alex.
Alex has some fears because of her ex and she can feel her anxiety being there. But while there, she notices five different guys in costumes that watch her and all seem hot. After doing the corn maze, she's a bit out of sorts. Some things happen for Alex in this little novella that is seriously hot. Oh and that ending?! No, I need more! Can't wait for the rest of this book!
It's that time again! Halloween is coming and what better way to spend Halloween, while waiting for the trick or treaters, then reading stories that get your fear factor up and with a sizzling aspect to keep you so intrigued. What is even better it is an anthologies of different stories and authors. Each author brings a different and unusual slant to their stories of a monster and the paranormal. Katherine Isaac's story of “The House of the Damned”shows that maybe that boring date, can end better then expected. In my opinion these stories were so great, I would say read them anytime, just read them.
I absolutely love all things Halloween, and this anthology hit the spot for me and my creepy love of Halloween. I love being able to read the stories from each of the 13 participating authors.
Each of the stories that not only were spooky, but they also included some spice – which I thought was fantastic – some stories were just the standard M/F, but there were several that included either trios or harems of sorts. Each of the main female characters all had to do something they didn’t initially want to do but had to overcome their fear.
Well, sometimes you find the anthology with the perfect name, and "Things Get Dark" fits the bill. This book is filled with short stories with an edge, and some are definitely edgier than others. If you like short and spicy stories, where vanilla seems to be to nobody's taste, you will like this one. As always, there were some stories I liked more than others, but they all fit the title perfectly. And while there were some where the characters spoke to me, I don't believe this is truly about the character building. It's about closing the blinds, creating a cozy reading corner and devouring something dark and spicy while Halloween is on its way. Enjoy!
Things Get Dark: A Halloween Charity Anthology is here to spook up your love life, and it's juicier than a freshly carved pumpkin. These stories bring all the chills and thrills, mixing haunted hotties with bewitching love tales that'll leave you breathless (and maybe a little scared to turn off the lights).
With everything from sultry witches to steamy ghost encounters, each tale serves up the perfect blend of passion and paranormal. Plus, it's for charity, so you can indulge your dark side and do some good. Win-win, am I right?
Grab this anthology and prepare to be swept away by seriously wicked love!
✨ARC Review✨ Things Get Dark is a Halloween Charity Anthology which donated all proceeds to the “No Panic” organization to help individuals and caregivers of individuals who suffer from anxiety and panic disorders. Overall the average rating from all 12 stories was 4 stars. I VERY much enjoyed this anthology. A good portion of the stories were why choose and paranormal. There was a sprinkling of contemporary as well. All the stories were set in a spooky fun Halloween type environment. All stories contained some spicy goodness. A good portion of the stories led me to follow the authors on social media for their next upcoming books as well!
Get ready for some spooky Halloween romances. I love anthologies! You get to have a little taste from multiple authors. Things Get Dark include thirteen spicy chills that get your blood pumping from your head to your toes. Depends on your tastes which will be your favorites, but for me, Hadeon’s Prey, House of the Damned, Seeds, Fright Night, Little Rabbit, and Haunting Foxglove were my top picks. It’s a good read! Have some Halloween fun, because once you go monster you don’t go back.
