Pastor Joakim is one of my all-time favorite speakers; he has a knack for telling stories in a way that engages and inspires his listeners to go out and make a difference for the Kingdom of God. This book illustrates his ability to do the very same through writing! (As an added bonus, I could not read this without my mind narrating it in his Swedish accent.)
God is light. Darkness does not exist in and of itself, but is rather the phenomenon stemming from *absence* of light. Sin distanced mankind from the Lord and His wonderful light. Jesus coming to earth brought that light back down to us, and we as believers now live with the mission to shine that light within us and share it with as many people as possible.
Lundqivst digs into the exploration of God as Light and what that means for us as His children. He shares powerful testimonies of people, past and present, who chose to illuminate God's love and light through unique and sometimes unsuspecting ways. Many of these heroes were ordinary people just like you and me, providing a strong reminder and encouragement that everyone is called to be a shining light for the Lord and can make a difference in their world.
The book also includes a wonderful illustration of each individual as their own lightbulb that brings necessary and unique characteristics to the Kingdom. Just like the Church is a body made up of many different parts, each lightbulb represents a different personality created for its own God-given purpose. You may be an oven light, a flashlight, a disco ball party light, or even a weird green lightbulb with spikes, but your ultimate goal is still the same: Shine God's light wherever you go!
