And why should she? A prince, in Astoria, Oregon? Highly unlikely.
Emma Prescott has been fighting to save her town from becoming a run-down relic at the end of the Oregon Trail, but when Prince Edward Grafton Windermere III, Duke of Finnsgate (if that's even his real name) strolls into town she's not about to let him take credit for fixing the place.
Nothing is better than curling up with a feel good book and that’s exactly what Sasha has accomplished with “The Prince of Oregon”!
The story starts off with Edward (our Prince) jetting off to Astoria, Oregon, a town within America that isn’t America at all.
As he makes his arrival to claim the town, he meets Emma, a fiesty, determined bookstore turned wine shop owner who’s goal in life is to turn her hometown back to its former glory, free from the hands of the mayor.
When Edward and Emma form an unlikely truce, there’s no telling what they discover.

I was not able to put this down. It’s not your stereotypical rom-com. It’s a rom-com with a twist of mystery. I had to keep reading to piece everything together! Sasha weaves the story of Edward and Emma so well and even though they’re the main characters, you fall in love with everyone else in the novel (except for someone you’ll have to read the book to find out).
This book is a great read if you need a story to escape your everyday life. Definitely a book you can read in one sitting!
When I tell you I could not put this book down - I could NOT put this book down. Sasha has created a cast of characters that are so lovable and charming. The book is told through multiple viewpoints, which I think helps you create a connection to each character. This is the perfect rom-com with a touch of mystery. Will Emma save the pier? Will Edward take his place as ruler of Astoria?
This is the best story about Astoria since the Goonies!
There are very few books that have the power to capture the reader's attention from the first page itself. "The Prince of Oregon" written by the author Sasha Quinn is one such book. It is the story of Prince Edward and Emma Prescott. The story is set in Oregon and the author has done an amazing backdrop setting.
King Alfred told his son Prince Edward about the grand history of trade and commerce in Astoria but because of its poor condition, the tourism has reduced and something needs to be done to restore the former glory of Astoria. Emma Prescott is running for City Council. She knows people aren't easily persuaded. People don't even care to pay attention. She is focused on fixing the systemic issues plaguing the little port town of Astoria.
The characters are written well by the author. The narration is smooth and strong. The story is well paced and I had a great time reading this book. Those who are fans of romantic comedy should definitely get their hands on this book.
Super cute and sweet book! Emma and Edward’s dynamic was so good! Add a little touch of historic preservation and I couldn’t put this book down! I hope to see more from Sasha soon!
DNF. It took me quite a few weeks just to get to page 100. I’d pick it up, read a chapter, and then have no desire to continue. The writing style wasn’t the best and it is littered with typos. I liked the plot well enough but when you get to the 100th page and nothing significant has happened, it’s quite obvious that there is too much filler. And maybe that’s on me—I like a plot driven story with flushed out characters. Sadly this book wasn’t for me.
"The Prince of Oregon" by Sasha Quinn is about a prince who is sent to Oregon to rule as his royal family in England insisted. When he arrives, he realizes the people of Astoria, Oregon (his people) have no idea they're not citizens of the United States. Prince Edward makes quick friends with some of Astoria's citizens, Emma included. Emma is running for election to a city council seat in Astoria to improve conditions of the city. The two team up to learn more about Astoria's history and to help Emma win the election.
This book was a breath of fresh air. I had been in a pretty significant reading slump and "The Prince of Oregon" snapped me right out of it. With the likable, relatable characters, to the refreshing sense of humor, it was a great read. Quinn's voice and humor shines through this story in such a big way which makes it all the more fun to read. It's been a while since I've laughed and smiled this much while reading a book.
I look forward to reading more books released by this author!
"The Prince of Oregon" written by the author Sasha Quinn is a romantic comedy and the story fits my reading taste perfectly. The main characters of the story are Prince Edward and Emma Prescott. Prince Edward has recently landed in Astoria, Oregon. On the flight, he met Mike Donnelly, a fisherman.
Edward's father, the king, wanted him to help in restoring Astoria to its former glory. When Edward went to Astoria, people weren't taking him seriously. He was also put in jail but on Mikey's request, the Prince was released from jail.
On the other hand, Emma was running for the City Council. She realized that people are happy with their current lives and aren't very open to accepting any changes. Read this story to know will Emma believe Edward is a Prince.
The writing style of the author is nice. The language used in the book is lucid. I had a great time reading this book. The storyline is written well. The cover photo of the book is eye-catching. Go ahead with it without any second thoughts.
I am a big fan of romantic comedy stories. Recently I got my hands on Sasha Quinn's book "The Prince of Oregon". It is an intriguing story. Emma and Edward are the two characters who would win your heart in their first description.
Edward's father Alfred James Grafton Windermere the Second is the King of the Whiteloch Isles. He owns Astoria, Oregon. Alfred's son Al and James have taken most of the good posts and he wants Edward to look after something too. Alfred and his wife Queen Gweneth asked Edward to help in returning Astoria to its former glory. Mikey told him that earlier they were far better. The tourism and the trade in their town was flowing well.
As both Edward and Emma start to look after the issues of the port town, romance starts to spark between them. The author has given historical touch to this book and I loved that. The characters are immediately likable. I am glad to read this book. It would be interesting to read more books by the author in the future.
With the overall stars this book got on here, it makes me wonder if I read the same book or not. The idea behind it was cute, but it almost seemed that there was not an editor that read this before publishing. Several errors throughout the book, and around page 80 I got annoyed enough by the amount of times the author drug out a word (example: exaaactly) that I started highlighting them every time. 54. And that’s not counting the first 80 pages. Goodreads, you let me down with this one.
This is the perfect cozy book, exactly what I look for in a “palette cleanser” book between heavy high fantasies. The characters had me rooting for them the entire time, and I feel in love with the quaint little town immediately. Very witty prose, and I loved the little bit of mystery to it! Support this indie author!
Emma has been fighting to get the pier fixed in Astoria, OR. After a year of getting no where, she decided to run for city council. Prince Edward of Whiteloch comes to town claiming Astoria belongs to Whiteloch.
What is the truth about who owns Astoria?
My thoughts:
I really liked Edward and Emma’s character. I was guessing to the end who could have been helping the mayor and I was completely wrong.
The plot of the story was well thought out and written. I also liked how each character was short which helped the story flow.
I do think The Prince of Oregon could have used another round of editing and formatting checks. These minor issues were in a few spots and is the reason this isn’t a five star read.
Thank you @sashaquinnbooks and @librarythingofficial for the giveaway win
I think this was a great book, but I definitely think I would have liked this a lot more if. I read this in high school. The story read far more young adult than I was anticipating. I wanted a bit more development of the characters relationship, as it seemed to move from hating to liking to loving very quickly. All in all, its a sweet little story with characters I liked.
The Prince of Oregon by Sasha Quinn was one of my favorite Rom-Coms I've read! I really didn't want my time to end with Emma and Edward! I was initially drawn to the story from the name and beautiful cover. By the time I was done, I was completely invested in their story. There is a bit of mystery and fun throughout the story that made it a really unique, slow-burn romance!
The story centers around two 30-something year-olds: Emma, who has lived in Astoria her whole life and is fighting to make improvements. Edward, who just so happens to be a Prince whose family actually owns Astoria? While this pair may not see eye-to-eye in the beginning, they both have the well-being of Astoria in mind!
I loved how the fantastical aspects of this book merged with the more realistic situations! It took some adjustment to understand the situation and the format, but after the first 30 pages, it flew by too fast! I would recommend this book to everyone! Contemporary romance books are not usually one of my favorites, but this one hit home with me! Check out this five-star read!
This book was so adorable and a welcomed light-hearted read. If you like Hallmark movies, you’ll love this. A little realistically silly sometimes? Duh. But isn’t that why we love books? Don’t give me real life. Give me a world I wish to escape to. Without this mayor though.
Sasha’s Astoria was painted like a city I actually wish I lived in because everyone was SUCH characters. I want to go to the wine bar and meet Sarabeth and ask her to google all the things. I want to meet Miley and have a coffee from his wife’s diner. I really want to meet Edith. And hi, I neeeed a continuation of Sb & Jonah because I knooooow there’s something there.
I loved Emma. Sasha makes her easy to root for without her coming off as the Mary Jane of the story (you know, everything always goes great and gee golly she’s just so perfect). You get angry with her, frustrated and gobsmacked with her, and most of all charmed by Edward with her. Umbrella Parade? Yes. Yes please.
For a debut novelist with a self-published book, this knocked it out of the park. If it were published by a big house company we’d be hearing about it no doubt. I look forward to more by Sasha!
Such a cute story! I took my time getting through the story. I typically read a chapter before bed every few nights and it was such a nice part of my evening routine. Each character seemed so realistic to me and that compelled me to care deeply for the story and the little town of Astoria. The romance was such a secondary part of things for me. The relationships built around Edward with other characters like Mikey and Edith were so endearing. The friendship between Sarabeth and Emma was precious and felt reminiscent to friends of my own.
If there’s one thing I could have added a bit more of it would be seeing other characters fall in love with Astoria through the story and their service to their community. Emma’s love for her town was clear but I would have loved to see the others be able to see it from her perspective.
Overall, this was an easy and cozy read! I loved every second I spent in it. I cannot wait to see what else comes from this author.
What can I say? I love this book. Stumbled across the author online and started talking about books. When she told me about the premise of her book, I was intrigued. So naturally I ordered it. I liked it so much that I went on her website and also bought an autographed copy so that I could have a shelf trophy. This book is pure fun. It's a different story and NOT just a cookie cutter version of multiple books that have been written before. I thoroughly enjoyed it It was cozy, funny and had a little mystery mixed in. I highly recommend picking up this book.
BUY THIS BOOK!!!!! OMG what an amazing story! I fell in love with Edward and Emma. The story was so well written I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to defend Emma against the antagonist and wanted to throat punch him!’ Can’t tell how many times i shook the book in frustration… and the end.. ugh the end melted my heart.. such a fun and amazing book.. and so many parts i laughed out loud to!! Like I said- BUY THIS BOOK
Much like the author's sister who has a quote on the back cover, this isn't my usual genre of book (no dragons or magic), and yet the characters drew me into this sweet story. I found myself rooting for them and seeking to get to know them better. The cover art is adorable and filled with little Easter eggs from the book. If you're looking for a feel-good story that will draw you into a rainy town that's gone a bit off the rails, this is it.
Reading used to be a joy of mine on a consistent basis. When I entered the world of academia my reading was solely academic books and everything else was forgotten. Prince of Oregon is what brought me back to the joy of reading again. This book is so CUTE and is designed so that it is not an overwhelming read for us neurospicies (short chapters etc). HIGHLY recommend!
This book captured me with the cover art plus the fact that I’ve actually lived in Astoria. It was cute to see how Sasha incorporated different places in Astoria (even if some were make believe). She nailed it with all the rain lol. The story took a while to get into, could use some editing and was rather predictable but it was cute and I could easily see it being a Hallmark movie.
Love love love this author, Sasha! I may be a bit bias. I’ve followed Sasha on her slime journey on TikTok and then realized she wrote a book. I of course had to get it! This book has many twist and turns. Certain parts made me either gasp or giggle. I couldn’t put this book down! I typically use audible because I read slow. But this book was easy to read. I hope for a sequel! Good job Sasha!
What a great feel good world. Sasha Quinn does a great job of creating a world that you can get lost in and crave to stay in with a hilarious cast of characters that brings this charismatic and hilarious world to life.
