When Addie Keane finds a dead body at a wedding reception, her witchy senses cry murder—even though the hot sheriff doesn’t suspect foul play.
If she can unravel the cryptic clues in her psychic visions and put another killer behind bars, she’ll be one step closer to freeing her family from the centuries-old curse that controls their supernatural powers.
Yet with her magical abilities awakening in ways she doesn’t understand, she has more questions than answers.
Like, why is someone tracking her? Why is her warlock nemesis dating her very human best friend? And why is her niece, so eager to help break the family curse, suddenly sabotaging their investigation?
With the killer on her tail, if Addie can’t figure it all out, then nothing about her freedom-at-fifty dream will be smooth sailing.

Clare Lockhart writes light-hearted, paranormal, cozy mysteries featuring middle-aged sleuths who are going through a few changes. Some are welcome (freedom to live the dream) and some not so much (supernatural abilities and a rash of murders).
If you like reading about best friends who find themselves in the odd pickle, twisty murder plots, and cheeky, paranormal visitors, then you’re in the right place.
Clare lives in a small town, a stone’s throw from Lake Ontario, in Canada, and has recently taken up sailing with her partner John. Sailing has to be one of her most challenging and rewarding life experiences. She loves to read, of course, travel and is a bit of a foodie.
Clare comes by her interest in the paranormal honestly. Her dad loved this stuff, so it was natural for her to believe there was more to our world than we perceive. Therefore, you may find a ghost, a psychic witch, and even a parallel universe in her stories.
She also writes time travel romance under the pen name Sharon Clare.
I know a cozy mystery is working for me when I start imagining living in the community where it is set. Addie, the protagonist of this series, lives on a sailboat moored in a tiny town in South Carolina town. I’m not that crazy about boats, and I hate hot weather, yet I’ve been pondering the economics of such a move for myself. Luckily I have this charming series to satisfy my curiosity. Again, Addie finds her magical powers strengthening as she draws closer to satisfying the number of murders solved according to a curse put on her family’s powers generations ago. This series has engaging characters, clever plots, and benign magic to add to its appealing setting. Very enjoyable light reading.
Another amazing book!!! I was hooked from the start and couldn't put it down. The suspense and twists had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't wait to find out whodunnit. This is another amazing series from Clare Lockhart and I highly recommend reading it. I definitely look forward to reading more from Lockhart.
I stopped at 30 percent. I couldn't stand how other witches were against the main character. I know what it is like to have people being prejudice against someone. I like the character was middle aged.
Liked that new characters were introduced and to see the growth in the current characters. The mystery to be solved was a good one and well developed. If you like cozy mysteries and some quirky characters you will like this series.
I loved this book. I like the series. The characters are very interesting. The plot was great. I enjoyed reading this book. I will read more from this author.
This was a great paranormal cozy mystery--it was full of action and twists and turns as Addie, her aunt and niece all try to find the guilty party. Addie learns more about her magic and she may have got herself into a tight spot. Recommend reading.
