“Mika, however, saw threads. Millions of them, spooling out everywhere in different colors, lengths, and thicknesses. There was barely room for her to move. The threads reached out to her and threatened to tangle her in their jumbled mess. Cautiously, she tugged at a blue gold one and immediately was sitting at a table with a quartet of souls; smiling people, laughing over their mugs. They spied her sitting there, and their smiles grew warmer. They reached out their hands. Come join us, they all but said. Bartender, Dock 302, she remembered and she let go of the thread.”
‘Twice-Marked, Wild Against City’ by R.Z. Held and A.T. Greenblatt’s ‘A Black Spot Among the Chaos’ were my favourites of the four stories in this issue, though I enjoyed ‘Tell The King’ and ‘Do Not Waver, My Heart’ as well. Really good issue all ‘round.
