Royal Hearts #4

A Royal Promise

Rate this book
Two best friends.
One promise that could change everything.

Prince Andrew has been in love with his best friend, Bri, for as long as he can remember. Of course, he would never actually tell her that. When his parents try to force him into a marriage of convenience, Drew decides to enact the marriage pact he made with Bri when they were kids. While she might think he’s faking everything with her for the public eye, Drew finally has the chance to show his best friend how much he loves her and why they would make the perfect couple. Drew can only hope that their forced time together will show Bri what has been right in front of her all along.

Princess Brielle agrees to be her best friend’s fake fiancée to save him from a desperate situation. Emphasis on the word fake. But the more time she spends with Drew pretending to be a couple, Bri begins to see him in a new light. He’s no longer the scrawny, awkward kid he used to be. Drew is an attractive, confident man who makes their charade look effortless and has her heart racing on more than one occasion. As the lines of their fake engagement and her feelings begin to blur, she’s left with the biggest decision of her life–Bri can either allow herself to fall in love with Drew or potentially lose her best friend forever.

A Royal Promise is Book 4 in the Royal Hearts series. This is a sweet, closed-door romance and can be read as a standalone.

4.5 stars!

Well aren’t Bri and Drew just the most adorable couple ever! So cute! Bri and Drew have been friends since children and at one point they make a marriage contract between them, Bri doesn’t think anything about it these past years but Drew has. He is love with his best friend and has been. When it looks like he will be forced to marry another he enlists Bri’s help and brings up their marriage pact. She agrees to a fake engagement. Now Drew hopes to convince her of marrying him for real but won’t make a move until she shows a sign that she likes him romantically too.
I really enjoyed this story! It was so cute. I loved watching Bri slowly fall in love with Drew. And Drew is just the sweetest towards Bri. He will do anything for her and knows her so well. I really enjoyed their friendship and then romance. Overall, I thought this a very good Friends to Lovers story and I definitely recommend!

What a stinking sweet and swoony friends to more, fake engagement, royal romance! I loved the history between these two, the secret, one-sided crush, the marriage pact, the slow fall, and the dynamics brought on by faking and the public eye.

Things I Loved:
-The Marriage Pact
-Pinky promise
-Friendship bracelet
-Practice
-Game night
-Truth or Dare
-Solar system facts
-Bastian

This is such a feel good read! He falls first in the best of ways and there is just something beautiful about realizing a deep, friendship kind of love can be so much more—I loved watching Bri discover that—it’s just so swoon worthy! Do not miss out on Drew and Bri’s sweet story!

“If you say I’m yours, I’ll try anything you want.”

Prince Andrew decides to enact the childhood marriage pact between himself and his best friend, Princess Brielle, and what results is the sweetest, swooniest, friends-to-love royal romance ever.

Watermelon-obsessed Bri is adventurous and sweet and I couldn’t get enough of her conflicted emotions with all the flirty banter being launched around. Drew is a space-loving guy and I love how many of their connections and dates revolve around constellations and the night sky, but it’s the way he falls first, deeply and completely, that sold me on his lovable charms. This author does a phenomenal job of creating the perfect balance of blurred lines between friends and more. Fake dating with a couple of royals? That’s a big resounding YES, PLEASE!

From the gorgeous cover to the delicious exchanges lined with swoon, this story hit the spot.

This was such a cute book! A Royal Promise was fun, adorable, and just the sweetest read. I really enjoyed Bri and Drew's characters. I loved seeing some of the other character's from the previous books as well as just getting these character's story. I loved how Amanda added past and present chapters to show the full scope of Bri and Drew's friendship over time. If you are looking to read a sweet, royal, best friends to lovers romance, then I highly recommend this one! I also liked how this book was a little bit different from Amanda's previous books in this series since this one didn't have a more triggering theme behind the characters' growth. It was just like these two were sunshine/sunshine characters, and I really enjoyed that, especially how Drew would pretty much do anything for Bri. I can't wait to read the last book in this series as well as see what Amanda comes up with next!

I received an eARC of this book from the author; however, I had already preordered the ebook.

Amanda gives such beautiful stories. Filled with heart, laughter, and hope. I enjoyed every minute of this read. I needed Bri and Drew’s story and it was better than I could have imagined. All the tender feel goods and sweet moments.

Andrew or Drew is the sweetest most caring, thoughtful, and giving MMC and best friend ever. I couldn’t get over how much he did for Bri and how he had been head over heels for her for more than a decade. Melt in a puddle right!?!

Brielle or Bri was a ray of sunshine and adventure! Always onto the next thing she almost missed what was right in front of her and would make her life more full. She tried really hard not to “catch feelings.”

“You’re going to have to spell it out for me, Drew. What exactly does it mean for us to practice being cozy?”

Because of their friendship the openness was so sweet and truthful. Even as they held back so long to not lose their friendship. Sigh. This was just one of those truly well don’t Friends To Lovers!

This was a delightful sweet romance! I love this world and the characters in it! Both main characters are relatable and endearing. You can’t help but cheer them on!

Drew has loved his best friend, Bri, ever since they were 12. He’s been waiting for over a decade to enact their childhood Marriage Pact and telling her how he really feels.

Bri never feels better than when she is traveling the world, experiencing something new. Or hanging out with her best friend.

After entering a fake engagement, will Bri learn to see Drew as more than just a friend?

Drew and Bri were so cute and sweet together! I liked the combination of childhood friends to lovers and fake dating/engagement! There were so many sweet moments I couldn’t pick a favorite and Drew really is wonderful! This is such a realistic representation of what a friendship turned more relationship could look like!

There is no swearing or innuendo in this story and only mild kisses and a brief, mild panic attack.

A Royal Promise is the fourth book in the Royal Hearts series. While characters from the previous books make some appearances, this could absolutely be enjoyed as a standalone as well. (That said, it's a fantastic series and one that I would highly recommend.)

Just when I think this series cannot possibly get any better, we Drew & Bri's story... and oh my goodness, it truly is the absolute sweetest. The two had been best friends since they were just seven years old, and Drew had been in love with her for nearly as long. I always love a good 'he falls first' story... and there was something especially sweet about his longtime love for her. I loved seeing the glimpses of their history together, finding those moments to be some of my favorites. That moment when they were writing their marriage pact at just twelve years old... wow! It truly was the sweetest moment ever and one that I won't soon forget! Mix in a fake engagement, practice kisses and perhaps a bit of meddling too, and I couldn't help but find myself completely obsessed with these two! It was definitely a bit of a slow burn--- especially for him, but the payoff was absolutely worth it! This was a perfect example of what a best friends to love story should be!

A Royal Promise is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

First off let’s take a moment to appreciate Drew and his flirty self in this book 🤭
Ok. Moving on. Maybe.
Bri & Drew have been best friends forever & they have a big secret!! I LOVED this book! It was so sweet & fun! I loved the cute text messages each morning and the protective side of Drew over Bri. I have to add this other line that I really enjoyed from the book. It really shows Drew’s personality which I adored!!
—> “You don’t have to try to impress me with your muscles. I already said yes to your proposal.” “I didn’t mean to. My muscles are just so big that sometimes they flex all on their own.” <—
I am a sucker for a flirty MMC 🫠
Be sure to get this one whenever it releases on September 9th! Thank you, Amanda for this beautiful book 💕👑

Reader’s Notes:

– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone

– this is told from Drew & Bri’s points of view

– there is a pregnancy announcement for a side character

– a character has a minor panic attack

Review:

I loved getting to know Bri & Drew in A Royal Arrangement and was so excited to see they were getting their own story! I loved getting a deeper look at their friendship within this book! I loved Drew’s deep love for Bri and his desire for her to return his feelings. I loved that he took care of Bri in so many little ways and that she came to realized it bit by bit as the story progressed. I loved that Bri wanted to do anything she could to help Drew and that she did inevitably fall for him for real. I loved watching all the different steps of the growing true love relationship between both of them. I also loved seeing so many different close friends and family members rooting for their relationship!

I can’t wait to find out more about Wes’s soon to be relationship & I want to know more about the two royals that glared at each other during the Fenimore meeting/dinner night!

Summary:

Drew has been in love with his best friend since they were young. Bri’s the only one he’s ever wanted to marry and he’s held onto hope that she’d one day return his feelings. When put into an undesirable position, Drew makes the decision to claim Bri is his fiance and enacts their marriage pact that they made as kids in order to get her on board. She thinks that they’re faking a relationship, Drew knows that every moment together is another chance to show Bri how he really feels about her. And hopefully Bri will not only see the truth in his actions, but also she’ll see that they are meant to be more than just friends…

Bri knows something is wrong with her best friend when his messages to her become short and off compared to his consistent timing. When Drew finally tells Bri in person what the issue he’s dealing with is, she’s ready to do anything to help him. Even if it means that they’re pretending to be each other’s fiances. They agreed that their fake relationship wouldn’t create real feelings. But with every look, touch, and event they attend, Bri finds herself fighting those unexpected real feelings. Which is the worst things possible… because Bri values her friendship with Drew and doesn’t want anything to break that valuable relationship between them…

This was such a cute book! Drew and Bri already seemed adorable together after Rosalie’s book, but we get to see them connect even more.
Drew was adorable! He was so cute as he tried to show Bri how much he loved her. I thought it was sweet as he tried to plan things that would make her smile and help her see him differently. I think his reluctance to tell Bri his real feelings made sense to me, and I admired how hard he was willing to work for his country.
Bri was a little bit more clueless, but she was also sweet. She had always loved Drew as a friend, but as their charade went on, things started to change. I thought she was a fun character, and I loved how adventurous she was. And I thought her interactions with Bastien, her guard, were so fun!
The storyline of this one is sweet as Bri and Drew figure out their feelings for each other. I did think I had some trouble getting into this one, but it was still an adorable royal romance. This is a clean read that I would recommend to anyone who loves friends to lover stories!

Cinnamon roll hero anyone? Because Prince Andrew of Glencrest is definitely one of the best there is!
This sweet, tender, and beautiful love story is a fantastic conclusion to a wonderful series!

Drew (Andrew) has been in love with his best friend Bri for years. Too bad she has absolutely no idea and doesn’t seem to feel the same. He has secretly hoped and waited for the right time, but a surprise from his parents forces him to enact the “Marriage Pact”.

Bri loves her adventurous and free spirited life style and doesn’t see ever really settling down. But when her best friend needs her help, she’s willing to fake an engagement. But soon she is seeing a whole new side of Drew and starts wondering if best friends is really all they can be.

I love the genuine friendship Drew and Bri had! Drew was the sweetest and his devotion to Bri was so tender! I loved the way Bri believed in Drew and cheered him on always. Their progression from friends to lovers felt so natural and organic!

This was the last book in the Royal Hearts series, but can easily be read as a standalone.
I am so excited to see what the author does next!

Thank you to the author for an arc copy. All thoughts are my own.

“What did you wish for, son?” Drew’s eyes darted to Bri to find her staring right back at him with a wide grin. Her. I wished for the confidence to tell my best friend that I’m madly in love with her.
💍
This was the sweetest love story! Drew and Bri have been friends since they were kids, and Drew has been in love with her for almost as long. When his parents decide it’s time for him to marry, and an intimidating prospect is looming, he enacts a marriage pact he made with Bri when they were younger and hopes it will provide him the excuse he needs to reveal how very much he loves her, and wants to be her fiancee for real.
💍
I loved Drew & Bri’s friendship and the memories the author spread throughout the story! I also so enjoy when the guy sets out to win the heart of his love and Drew pulled out all the stops! I was so enchanted by how he showed he cared in both big and small ways!
💍
There were so many sweet, romantic moments throughout as well- it felt like a movie reel playing out in my mind! In my reading experience, friends to more can be such a tricky trope, and Amanda weaved a beautiful story and journey!
💍
I have loved each story in this series and the characters and look forward to what comes next!

10/10! I knew Drew and Bri’s book would be my favorite! I absolutely loved their friends to more story!

Drew has been in love with his best friend for most of his life, while she has been completely oblivious. When Drew’s parents suggest that he marry another woman, he blurts out that he’s already engaged… to BRI! And well, that’s just the beginning!

Marriage pact, pinky promises, best friends. A love so strong and so much history shared. This is classic friends to more trope with a splash of fake dating/engagement and it was EXCELLENT. I loved seeing Drew finally be able to show Bri how he felt, even if it was technically “fake”, nothing he did was ever not real. And then Bri finally coming to see Drew in a romantic light! YES YES YES! The dates they had were so sweet and it was clear they were totally meant to be together. I loved every moment of this story and the ending was lovely! Definitely my favorite in the series! Highly recommend!

“Drew is my best friend. But Drew is also the most attractive man I've ever seen. I would never do anything to hurt our friendship. But I think I would like a repeat of yesterday's kiss.”

*swooooon* I just read one of the sweetest best friends to lovers books of all time!! “A Royal Promise,” by Amanda Schimmoeller captured the ultimate friendship, with Bri and Drew! And she so seamlessly wrote their story!I loved seeing their friendship change to more!

I loved their dates, and how every interaction was just so wholesome and heart warming! It really was such a treat to read this book! Some other tropes you’ll find in this one are fake dating, he falls first, and maybe even a practice kiss

Definitely add this one to your TBR list for this month! It will release on Sept 9th!!

Drew has been in love with Bri since when they made a marriage pact when they were children. Since she only sees him as a friend he wonders if he’ll ever have a a chance to move into a deeper relationship with her. When his parents begin to push for a possible match with an awful woman, Drew puts a plan into motion that he hopes Bri will realize how much he cares.

Things to Enjoy:
friends to more
forced proximity
the Ferris Wheel
star gazing
constellation lore
rowing crew
the French Open
Bastian the bodyguard
movie lines and dances
midnight hike
epilogue

This is the fourth book in the Royal Hearts series but can be read as a standalone. I have enjoyed every one of the books (and this one too!) with various royals and romance as kisses only.

A beautiful and heartwarming conclusion to the Royal Hearts series! I always love a childhood friends-to-more story, and was so excited for Drew and Bri’s book! When Drew’s parents encourage him to marry a woman he doesn’t even like before he is crowned king, he turns to his friend Brielle and reminds her of the childhood marriage pact they made. A fake engagement (and of course very real feelings), ensue. This book is a perfect example of he falls first and she falls hard! Schimmoeller crafts such gently unfolding love stories, and this one in particular is full of pining. There are lots of previous book characters that pop up as well. I’m so sad to see this series end!

Ahhh this is such a good Friends to Lovers story! From the Marriage Pact they made as kids to their first and second kiss during a fake engagement, it was so fun to read abotur Bri and Drew realizing how much love that have between them.

Here is my favorite quote:
"He was a little ashamed to admit he'd pretended to be scared during takeoff so Bri would hold his hand."

Drew has been in love Bri most of his life, but Bri hasn't really considered him as a possible romantic option, even though they have been lifelong friends. Drew uses her love for watermelon, sweet tea, and his love for stars to show her that they can have an amazing romance, all while being fake engaged.

Overall this was a fantastic read! Perfect for teenagers and older who want a royal romance with kissing only. Thank you to the author for the advance copy of this book. A review was not required.

I was so excited to read another book from Amanda Schimmoeller. This book has many of my favorite tropes! I loved this best friends to lovers story. Especially the engagement of convenience, best friends to lovers, he falls first, marriage pact, he cooks for her, and so many more.

I really enjoyed the glimpses of their friendship when they were kids. I love it when we can see the history that connects the present so well. Drew was always so aware of Bri and her needs. It was so sweet.

There were so many characters that shined. Bastian and Drew’s mom especially. It was fun to see Colin and Rosalie too. And the dual POV is always my favorite. I loved seeing Bri’s feelings change and the cute and sweet moments each character brings to the story.

I can’t wait for another book from this author.

Bri & Drew

Amanda knows how to write the sweetest romances! I love joining Bri and Drew on their journey. Bri and Drew have been friends for 16 years. Best friends. And for most of that time Drew has been in love with Bri. But she’s had no clue.

Bri had some growing to do. In a way I think she had to learn to be selfless. To truly look at the world around her, and the feelings of others.

Drew had to work up the courage to tell Bri how he felt. Even at the risk of rejection. It was obvious to him, to Rose, to his parents even that he was in love with Bri, but she couldn’t see it until they were both given a little push.

This delightful book comes with witty banter, lots of watermelon, and sometimes swoony kisses!

I love all of the little things that Drew does to show Bri that he loves her. It is so sweet! I love when He finally tells her how he feels and then when she realizes her own feelings.

It was so fun seeing the characters from the previous books, especially Rosalie and Collin.

If you are in the mood for a feel good story that will make you swoon and sigh, this is one to check out. This series can be read in order or this can be read as a stand-alone, although I highly recommend reading the entire series. There are so many great characters throughout this series and watching the friendships blossom and the way they support each other as the series progresses is so sweet. Not to mention the fun banter and swoony romance. 😉

Be sure to check A Royal Promise out so you can enjoy:
🩷 childhood friends to lovers
🩷 marriage pact
🩷 forced proximity
🩷 fake dating
🩷 he falls first
🩷 royal duties and expectations
🩷 all the pining and swoony tension 🥹

The last book to this debut series and it was an absolute delight! Y’all know I LOVE a friends to lovers romance, and this book has all of the elements I love. We had flashbacks galore, we had inside jokes, we had him knowing all of her favorite treats, it was awesome! Drew was the sweetest of all MMC’s with his caring nature and his constant checking up on Bri’s needs. I also loved Bri and her growth throughout the story. Set this all to the backdrop of European royalty and the whole thing feels very Princess Diaries, and we all need more of that in our lives ;)

This is the final book in the series, so I’d highly recommend reading the others first, but it’s not necessary to enjoy this story!

This book is the sweetest! Two of my favorite tropes are fake dating and friends to lovers and this book has both and then some.

Drew and Bri are too adorable for words. Their friendship and connection was everything!

Drew is just the sweetest, most attentive best friend. The way he loves Bri is endearing. He knows her better than she knows herself.

Watching Bri begin to notice things about her best friend is the best! Since when does he have muscles?

“This new version of Drew continued to surprise her. He spoiled her with her favorite snacks. He flirted with her. He got her heart racing at the mere sight of him. He quoted her favorite movies. He kissed her, and she hadn't been able to forget it since.”

Gah, so good!!!

I loved the glimpses into their past. Seeing the foundation for their relationship and how perfect they are for each other. I loved their families as well. I especially loved the little surprise reveal at the end.

Some things I loved:
Treehouse
Space facts
Ferris wheel
Friendship bracelet
Her cooking 🤣
The stars

The perfect sweet escape that gives you all the smiles and butterflies watching these two realize they’re each other’s home and heart.

I received a complimentary copy, but a positive review was not required.

A Royal Promise by @authoramandaschimmoeller
Book 4 of 4: Royal Hearts
COMING OUT Sept 9th!!
4 out 5 stars
'Best friends to lovers' is one of my favorite tropes!!
Drew is in love with his best friend, and when his parents try to marry him off to someone else, he enacts their marriage pact.
I hadn't read the first 3 books in this series and I still really enjoyed this as a standalone! I am going to go back and read the first three because I enjoyed this book so much.

This book was the cutest, sweetest story!! 😍 I adored Bri and Drew’s relationship, of how they were the closest of friends first and then fell in love (at least for Bri, poor Drew was whipped for years 😂). A lot of the time the friends-to-lovers trope heavily relies on miscommunication, which can be annoying, so I really liked that this one didn’t. If you’re looking for a royal romance that’s completely clean, has fun and likable characters, all the space facts, and wholesome scenes, I recommend A Royal Promise!! 😆

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is book four in the Royal Hearts Series and can be read as a standalone. A Royal Promise is told through Bri and Andrew's pov and is a sweet friends to lovers romance.

Right from the start, I was invested in Bri and Andrew's story. I loved how they were childhood friends who would do anything for each other, which resulted in Bri agreeing to a fake engagement to protect Andrew from an unwanted marriage. Although they grew up together and knew each other better than anyone else, Andrew kept his romantic feelings for Bri hidden and I enjoyed how she began to see him a new light the more time they spent engaged. Though they were opposites with Andrew being comfortable with a certain routine and Bri liking the freedom that came from an adventure, they complimented each other well and it was easy to root for their love to come to fruition. Once he decided to take a chance, I loved the gestures Andrew made to show Bri how he cared for her as more than a friend. Overall, I really liked their story and know readers of the friends to lovers trope, and fans of the series, will love this book too.

The absolute sweetest story of Bri and Andrew.

Andrew has been pressured by his parents to marry and take over the throne so they can retire. In order to avoid an unwanted match, he convinces his best friend to fake an engagement. Only he isn’t faking anything. Bri agrees to this only to save her best friend from a terrible marriage. Besides she only views Drew as a friend. She could never see him as anything more, right?

Drew is the ultimate MMC in this sweet, kisses only romance. From silly games, to the most swoon-worthy gestures, and funny side characters. This is a must read!

A Royal Promise

A Royal Promise is a lighthearted fairytale type book with the typical HEA. After reading numerous clean romantic suspense books I like a lighthearted story that leaves an uplifting impression. Princess Andrew and Princess Brielle have that type of story. When Drew’s parents try to force him to marry the clingy Clarissa, Andrew tries to enact the marriage pact he and Brielle signed when they were much younger. She agrees to be his fake fiancé. Drew wants the engagement to be real. Will he be able to convince Brielle that their love for each other is true?

The way Drew and Brie would interact with each other, the hidden looks and longing made this a super easy and sweet read! 🥹

This was my first book by Amanda, and it most currently will not be my last!

Drew and Brie said it best it’s:
“a love story so beautiful, people would make a constellation about it and tell our story for generations to come.”
