Husband with Benefits was so good! I love how this book was written, and how Heather Ryder mention about cancer that really moved me, it gives me perspective’s on how people with cancer have to fight until they go in to remission, and get the word that they are finally cancer free that’s shows me how strong they are. Maddie’s and Tyson’s love story really shows me what love really is. They supported one another, care for one another, protected one another, and loved one another. This book was many of the first books I read about people who falls in love with and have cancer. Heather Ryder did a good job on writing her first book and y’all should definitely give it a read on February 20 which comes out next Tuesday!!!❤️
Thanks Heather Ryder for sending me a eARC, I promise this is my honest review and I enjoyed it!! Congratulations on your upcoming book Husband With Benefits!!!❤️🎊

ARC Review ✨ Husband With Benefits was such an easy book to read! The FMC Maddie is such a beautiful character🥹 I loved her personality, and the way she handled everything life hat to throw at her. She looked for the positive in everything, and we could all use someone like that in our life. When Maddie was diagnosed, she chose not to let that bring her down, and she kept her head up the whole time. Let's not forget her best friend Aria, who stayed by her side every step of the way! That's an amazing friendship, one that should never be taken for granted! 💞 Tyson, the MMC, came into Maddie's life at the perfect time! Heather's writing for this story was perfect, and if you love emotional reads like I do, then add this to your tbr🤗🥹 This story was such an emotional read, and really hit home for me🥹😭 With that being said check TW just in case ✨🖤
They've known each other since her best friends sister, sparks appeared, but it was not the time, yet... Months later, life puts her in a place you wouldn't wish your enemy to be and she finds him again.
Imagine beeing a twenty four year old, no family, no place to stay, absolutely nothing and to find out you have brain cancer and need to have a surgery. What would you do? How will you get past this?
To be honest, I didn't know what this book was about and it broke me from the first line. I am used to medical shows, big fan of Grey's Anatomy, but I don't really find this king of topics in books. I loved that I found it here, the author wrote this book so beautifully, puting the FMC through so many hard phases of her disease.
We have a forced proximity who turns into marriage of convenience and then into such a heartbreaking and heartwarming love story. We have two subjects who are hard to read, military life and medical problems and this two make you feel all the emotions and feel everything with the characters.
Maddie and Tyson caught my attention and I read their story in a sitting, I wanted more and more and I was happy, sad, crying, laughing. I am so excited for what the author will write in the future. And I really recommend this book to everyone who knows they can read with such hard topics.
Thank you @heather_ryder_author for the eARC and congrats for this amazing debut 💖
Trigger warnings: Brain tumor, anxiety, homelessness, drugs, cancer, surgery, human trafficking, child trafficking, military
The experience of almost dying can bring people together.
Husband With Benefits by Heather Ryder is a standalone novel and is filled with intense, emotional, and sexy moments. Maddie is on her last limbs of surviving a brain tumor with the only option being a surgery she cannot afford. Tyson, the brother in law to her best friend, decides to marry her to save her life. But what happens next, does the arrangement end with her good bill of health or do they build a real relationship?
This was a very tough and emotional roller coaster of a story. There’s so many deep situations that come up throughout the story and can take a toll on you, but the love story is cute. It’s kind of an instalove situation that is mixed with the fake dating/marriage of convenience situation and it comes off nice. I liked that it starts with Maddie being at complete rock bottom but is still very strong and pushes through. Also, I love that the friendship between Maddie and Aria is so deep and genuine.
There’s a lot of mystery with both Maddie and Tyson that makes you want to keep reading to finally find out their secrets, which is always fun. But, it can get a little long waiting. While the beginning introduces Maddie and her problem, it takes a while to really get to the point and get into the relationship with Tyson. She’s in her head a lot and it could be shortened to get to the point a bit quicker. Also, I didn’t like how parent-like Aria was with Maddie. It felt like it was a bit too much, especially since they are the same age and only 24. Aside from that, it was a nice story.
This is great for anyone who loves a story with some deep themes, intense situations, things that will make you cry, and some steam. It has some marriage of convenience, one bed, military/cop, found family, fake relationship, and best friend’s BIL tropes within as well.
*This was an honest review for a complimentary copy of Husband with Benefits from Heather Ryder
Husband with Benefits by Heather Ryder is a fake relationship, forced proximity, life threatening health issue, with a dash of humor and suspense to keep a reader on their toes. Heather Ryder pulls on reader's heart strings from the start with the FMC facing a life-threatening event. Her ability to make the characters feel instantly familiar, draw readers in and gets you invested in the story line, their development and if they'll get a HEA. I also appreciate Ryders vary real and raw details about the health issue the FMC deals with, not just the health issue itself but the insurance and costs that most people in real life struggle with. Ryder takes her readers on an emotional rollercoaster in the all the best ways with Husband with Benefits, a definite must read for a reader's 2024 TBR!
FMC Maddie life takes a drastic turn when right in the middle of her last day of school and final exam she has a seizure and ends up in the hospital. So many things were already going wrong for her living paycheck to paycheck and currently living in her car, and now doctors tell her seizure is due to a brain tumor? With best friend Ari at her side to help give her the strength to keep going she goes to Houston, Tx for a chance at a treatment trail that could potentially save her life. Things start to look up when she gets into the trail, but now she needs somewhere to live and with doctors telling her not to work, where is she going to go? Ari's husband offer's up his brother Tyson's place for a couple months since he knows Tyson it out on a job and shouldn't be back for a while. Maddie is fighting for her life and things are starting to seem like they'll work out for her. MMC Tyson has been on a mission to help build a case against a notorious child trafficker. Unable to stand by while 3 children's lives are about to change forever, he chooses to break his cover and save the kids. Now off the case and taking a break, he heads home only to find Maddie crashing at his place. Not knowing why she's there and mistaking her current physical state for drug addiction that he sees in people all the time in his line of work, he kicks her out. In the chaos of trying to figure out where she'll go Maddie has another seizure, but this time in front of Tyson. While on the way to the hospital he finds out what is really going on with Maddie and realizes the mistake he's made and knows he has to correct it immediately. Knowing more details Tyson makes Maddie an offer, marry him so she can get on his insurance and have the lifesaving surgery she needs. At first Maddie is hesitant but then quickly realized she has very few options. Will living with Tyson prove to be more than Maddie can handle and blur the lines of the plan they've made? Will Tyson give in to his feelings for Maddie and realize there may be a possibility for this marriage to become real instead of the fake one it started out as? You'll have to read Husband with Benefits to find out if together Tyson and Maddie can fight all life throws at them and find their HEA in the end.
A terrific debut novel from Heather Ryder. This is a beautiful story with elements of suspense. It grabbed me at page one and held me until the end. It’s the story of Maddie, a struggling homeless student who’s just trying to graduate and obstacles keep preventing her from moving forward. Maddie is strong and keeps going no matter what is thrown at her. Just when she’s finally at a breaking point, Tyson comes back into her life and offers his help. Tyson is her best friend’s brother-in-law, so they have a brief history. Tyson is coming off a very stressful, undercover assignment while facing his own past demons.
They marry so Maddie can undergo the lifesaving surgery she desperately needs and be covered by his insurance. While living together they soon discover their initial attraction is still there and as strong as ever. I liked that they didn’t drag the ‘is it real or is it still fake marriage’ on too long. They went with their feelings knowing that life is precious, and you are not guaranteed tomorrow. I enjoyed seeing their relationship grow. They were truly what the other needed to grow past traumatic events and move forward.
There may be a few triggers for some that include cancer, child trafficking, drug use, homelessness. But ultimately, this is a romance story at its core with some elements of suspense. I couldn’t wait to see Maddie and Tyson get their HEA. It’s a quick, entertaining read from start to finish.
So far this is one of my favorite books of the year! My family just experienced a cancer diagnosis, so this story truly hit close to home. But it was done in a very understanding way that although you see the negative aspects of cancer, you also discover the small flickers of hope and the strong support from family and friends that comes with the diagnosis!
Maddie, recently diagnosed with brain cancer, goes to Houston for an experimental treatment and stays at her best friend’s brother in laws (Tyson- who is an undercover cop) place. Due to unforeseen circumstance, she must marry Tyson in a marriage of convenience to get the surgery. You then see how their “fake relationship” plays out throughout her cancer treatment and beyond.
No matter everything that was thrown at Maddie, she had this quiet strength to her. In the beginning she never even wanted to bother anyone with her health. I was so glad she found Tyson and had amazing friends in Aria and Joel! I loved loved Tyson!! He was the sweetest and really supoorted Maddie from the start! It was great to see how their relationship grew from friends to lovers!
Add in some sweet friends, a mostly big supportive family, a mild suspense plot line, and no third act breakup - you have one of the best books by debut author @heather_ryder_author !!
Thank you for the opportunity to review this book! 🦋🩵

This book is such a sweet story. There’s plenty of playful banter between Maddie and Tyson; and there’s sexual desire (and plenty of sex scenes) with a swoon worthy delivery. Ty may have agreed to marry Maddie to help her get a life saving surgery, but neither of them realized how much they needed each other. As someone who reads primarily mafia and dark romance, Heather’s book was such a sweet change of pace that still had me glued to my book wanting to know more and laughing with the characters. The ending was NOT expected with that nice little twist but such a great twist to add to Maddie’s story. I loved how Ty was all “no girls, no relationship, job ONLY” only to have Maddie (who I might add is strong AF and doesn’t let death scare her) come in and turn his life upside down. Seeing him grow from a rough guy to the one to carry her when she’s tired was so amazing; I loved seeing his soft side! And Maddie, my girl is strong and has a sense of humor I can connect with! Seeing her scared of the unknown and scared to let herself love someone, let alone Ty, and seeing her fall head over heals for him was so perfect and sweet! I loved Ty’s family and Momma B was having me wish I had a Momma B! Honestly, this book is sweet, funny, steamy (very steamy) and just the perfect little romance.
This was a strong debut romance novel for Heather Ryder. Maddie is a college graduate (well basically graduates at the beginning of the book) who we find in a medical crisis that is unexpected at her age. Already dealing with troubled circumstances, homelessness and money issues, we see her continue to struggle with now a brain tumor requiring treatment she cannot afford. With the help of her best friend and her BFFs husband, she is able to get into a cancer testing trial. This is where things get interesting and she falls into the daily life of Tyson. Tyson, an undercover cop finds himself home early from assignment only to find someone living in his house in Houston, that person being Maddie. When. He finds out about her diagnosis, he helps in the only way he can think of, marriage of convenience to get her on his insurance.
While I really enjoyed the interactions between both Maddie and Tyson, I found that their previous unknown attraction to each other didn't allow their falling for each other to have the payoff that it could have. I also felt that more could have been explored with Maddie's continued care and recovery before jumping into Tyson's background.
Otherwise this was an easy flowing read, I read it in a few hours. Ryder shows promise with her storytelling and dynamics that hit a reader in the feels. I look forward to reading more of her work.
~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~>~> Just WOW. Did i finish reading this book in just one day?! A BIG YESSS.
This is really a beautiful, heartwarming and at the same time heartbreaking story. Tyson and Maddie's story was so so good, i couldn’t put this book down, really i was so caught up in their story that I didn't realize I was already at the end. The characters, the chemistry between Ty and Maddie, the storyline, the trauma, the angsty and the whole story and the side characters, everything was just perfect. Their story had turning points and some spicy scenes, which were very well written. 😏
Tyson, how should i describe a man like Tyson. He is an Angel but in a male angel. He cared so so so much for Maddie. He was a blessing for her, sure he had his own trauma but was always there for her, even though he married her to help Maddie. And Maddie, diagnosed with brain tumor and tries to get her life under control by herself. They were the perfect match for each other. This book is called "Husband with benefits" but let me say both had their benefits with this "fake" marriage.
Can only recommend this book and like ALL of the books check always the TW before starting with the reading.
* Best Friends Brother in Law * Marriage of Convivence
This was really really good. Maddie was going through a horrible thing. She didn't know how or if she would get through it. She moved for a trial and was crashing at Tyson's (his brother said it was fine....). But Tyson showed up unexpectedly. Once he found out what was going on he knew he needed to do something after their connection at the wedding that he denied because of work. He was so sweet & caring. Maddie had no one with her until Tyson came home. I DID NOT expect that ending with the plot twist with Chris. Maddie recognized him when she first saw him and her first emotion was anger... can't blame her. Over all this was an amazing book.
I cannot even begin to describe how much I loved this book. Maddie and Ty are my favorite.
This was my first book by Heather and I was not disappointed at all. I loved her style of writing. The story line was so easy to follow. The character development flowed so smoothly and the just made you fall in love with them from the beginning. I was so drawn into the Maddie's story from the very first line of the book.
The plot twist at the end was mind-blowing and completely unexpected in the best way possible. I did not want their story to end. I felt like I was involved in their story, living every second of their story. I could not wait to read what happened next.
Thank you for allowing me to read this early! Cannot wait for more!
Maddie has no other option. She can’t afford her surgery that will save her life. She doesn’t know what to do. Until she finds out about a experimental treatment in Texas. Maddie and her best friend Aria go and stay at Aria’s brother-in-law, Tyson’s house to see if Maddie qualifies while he is gone on a mission. Tyson ends up coming home early to find Maddie staying at his house by herself. Maddie and Tyson end up getting married to help Maddie out. But is the wedding just to help Maddie and then they will go there separate ways or will they stay together? Do they actually love one another? Will they get caught?
Husband With Benefits was such a sweet and inspiring love story. This book does have done heavier topics with cancer diagnosis, so if that’s hard for you, maybe steer clear. I did love the way the story portrayed Maddie and her illness. It was very real feeling but also not so overpowering that you lost the love story aspect it felt completely overwhelmed with negative feelings. This is very much a marriage of convenience trope, but done in a way that I don’t think we see very often as readers. And it’s something that could be so realistic. This isn’t a super fast paced read but would be a wonderful palate cleanser! In thoroughly enjoyed it.

This story is intense, emotional, real and had it's light moments. For a debut novel, I'm curious to see what else is to come.
Maddie's life isn't going the way it should and her diagnosis is the latest blow, but she won't let it stop her. Tyson is an undercover cop and her best friend's brother-in-law.
A move to Texas for an experimental treatment brings their paths together again. Will it always be fake or something more?
I was given a free copy of this book and I'm voluntarily leaving an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This was jammed packed with romance, thrills, mystery, and more. You don't want to put it down! I hope there is more to come with these two main characters. You easily fall in love with their romance and root for their relationship. I would say there is a bit of a trigger warning with this book so just go into knowing that. I don't want to give anything away but wanted to forewarn. I hope you'll check this new author out as I see many books in her future. Thank you @Heatherryder for the great read! I look forward to more from you.😊
With MANY Different Kinds of Benefits 😉 Tyson. Maddie. Wow. This story had me so emotional. I could feel the turmoil Maddie was going through in her journey and my heart strings were holding on tight for that loneliness feeling. I wanted so much for her - and thank goodness she found it! This one has hope, life lessons, strength, spice, and I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I had to keep reading, forget all other responsibilities!
I really loved this book and honestly it was heartbreaking and heartwarming equally. Tyson was such a wonderful MMC and his dedication to Maddie was actually really inspiring. If you enjoy marriage of convenience tropes I would highly recommend this story. The only warning I have is that Maddie does have a brain tumor and cancer so if you or any loved one has had that just be aware it is depicted in this story.
This book was very unexpected. I really thought it was going to be a romcom/lighter book but by the first page I knew it wasn’t going to be that. The author really did not sugar coat the cancer process and hardships of it. Which I really appreciated. I did feel at times: what more could happen to these main characters. It was a lot but I was invested in the story. I feel like too much happened toward the end and it made it a little unrealistic to me.
There was a lot going on in this story with illness, human trafficking, undercover cops and insurance fraud. I have been watching a lot of Greys Anatomy recently so I was excited about the idea of a massive brain tumour that needed to be removed, drug trials and a marriage of convenience.
TW for CSA in the past.
Thank you to the author for the ARC.

Man this book was so dang good. Right off the bat it had me hooked. The writing and the detail was just so good and let’s not forget the spice because it was amazing. I really loved how the book had a little bit of everything like the romance was so good the spice was perfect and it also had a little suspense. The ending was so good it had me on the edge of my seat I literally couldn’t wait to see what would happen.
Such a cute love story. Both Tyson and Maddie had things that happened to them in there past that they didn't want anyone to know about. When I started to read this book I swore it was going to break my heart, it had me in the edge of my seat the whole time. The ending was amazing and not what I had pictured in my head!!! Such a great read!!
I made quick work of Husband with Benefits by Heather Ryder! It was a gripping story, first with Maddie and her health. Then we meet Tyson and the story takes a shift that kept me reading! It has romance, spice, laughter, danger, and characters with incredible backstories that have you rooting for them pretty quickly! It’s a definite must read!
This book had me hooked from the beginning. It was given me Teddy and Henry vibes from Greys Anatomy at first, but mannn was I wrong.. Who knew the twists and turns that would come up in this book! It was a very good read, and a very romantic one at that. Marriage to help save someones life to being soulmates (best friend's brother in law).
I LOVED this book! The storyline, the characters, everything! I could and did not put it down (I stayed up half the night ti finish it) It was that good! I can’t wait to read more of Heather Ryder’s books!
My review is listed under Kristen for this book. Idky it chose my first name and not middle, which I go by. Definitely check this book out! You won't be sorry.
This story is a new take on the old classic of marriage for convenience romance. The two main characters couldn’t come from what see seems like further worlds apart from each other, but as time goes on they are a better match for each other than the other realized. Maddie falls into Tysons world just when the both needed each other, in more ways then they will admit to. Plus Tyson is an AMAZING book boyfriend - hot secret opps agent with a heart of gold for those he holds close to his heart. Super attentive and caring. Total swoon worthy!
Throughly enjoyed reading this book! It’s a little slow at the start but you need the details to understand their twos foundation ❤️ trust me and stick with it. The steam picks up fast!
