This treasury of vintage crime offers a vivid picture of Minnesota from the time it achieved statehood in 1858 through 1917. It also traces the gradual changes in social attitudes from the days of frontier justice to the abolishment of capital punishment in 1911.
This was written in 1962, but it is actually pretty fascinating. I guess I never really thought about what Minnesota was like before it was settled and made a state. Incredibly interesting read and gave me some interesting ideas.
This collection of homicide cases was originally published in 1962. Some chapters were fascinating, others boring. Overall I'd have to say I enjoyed reading it.
A tough read ... Slow.... But if you are from Minnesota the stories are neat. I would read one chapter and then pick up a more interesting novel. Took me two months to read this but I am glad I did.
