For starters this is not horror, this is not smut, this is not dark romance … this is an all out weirdly fetishized erotica. The authors trigger warning of CSA hardly scrapes the surface. If you can read beyond the first chapter and believe this is even remotely okay, and not realize the wildly repugnant nature of this book then I am concerned.
I would never trust my own children, or any for that matter with this author or anyone who enjoyed this “book”, as a mother, knowing the author is one as well I am truly concerned. This book is pure deceptive filth and simply put should be called Pedophilia for Dummies with a completely different cover for any redemption at all, instead the covers it has been released with present incredibly different depictions of what this book is about. The author, and readers, should probably heed the unspoken warning considering it is constantly being banned off Amazon and other platforms. I don’t like leaving “bad” reviews but the author quite literally asks for it. Just ew.

Not worth the time it took to read

If I'm going to have to read pedo smut, it had better have a purpose like some wicked retribution or something. This feels like it had no purpose aside from saving the couple's marriage which just isn't a compelling storyline in my opinion. This was CSA just for the fun of it (barf) which is just not my thing. I had high hopes for this one and love extreme horror/depravity/brutality but this just really missed the mark for me. I've read plenty of abuse tales that made my stomach flip but that felt like a real story that had impact, like What Good Girls Do, and this didn't feel like that. I feel like I need to wash this one off me and in this case that is not a compliment.

‼️SPOILERS‼️
🔅TW’s (child stalking and child abuse both physical and sexual)🔅

3.5/5⭐️
100/10 🤮

So this book was really hard for me to get through due to its content. The writing was solid. But I just wasn’t vibing with the story. This is the authors debut so I’m very excited to see what else she writes.

The concept of this book is what really caught my eye, the thought of two pedophiles marrying each other unknowingly. But later in life reconnect inside their marriage through their pedophilic desires is WILD. I would have liked to see the concept executed a bit differently maybe. But overall I like where her brain went developing such a concept.

There were parts in the book where time was skipped and for me I didn’t want it to be skipped. I wanted the full picture. Also the thought of a boy completely disregarding his sister’s safety over a stranger’s boobs was a reach. But I also don’t know how boys minds work at 10 so maybe I’m wrong.

If anything this book just made me want to teach my daughter stranger danger even more now. Because wtf was the 6 year old thinking agreeing to go regardless of what her brother said. The promise of pizza isn’t a strong one for most kids to follow strangers to a hotel room (minus boobs of course).

The story goes exactly how you would think, the kids are kidnapped and abused physically and sexually. The actual abuse scenes made me gag. They were extremely graphic and descriptive so if you have any triggers to do with children period, find a different book to read.

I'm honestly not sure I can rate this one ..... for a new author, she's knocked it out the park with this debut it's well written the story flows well BUT the subject matter is fucking awful its extreme and I had to take brakes because its full on! This book will definitely divide people and hand on heart I wouldn't honestly recommend, but I think this is an author to watch things just got interesting!

5 🩸 ⭐️ Holy shit …. What a way to make a debut. Caleb works too much and his wife Stacy is tired of it. It is having major effects on their marriage. They decide to take a weekend trip. During this trip, they both divulge their deviant desires. This book was completely insane to say the least. Although it was short it packed many punches to my eyes . If you have any triggers I don’t recommend reading this book. It was vile and grotesque. If you can handle the most extreme of books, then Hughes is one to definitely watch out for.

I have been so happy lately with authors bringing it all with their debut novels, being brave and crossing boundaries and marking off all the trigger warnings. Did this book make me uncomfortable? Very much so but I enjoyed it due to the captivating writing and if this is S.S. Hughes first novel than I am excited to see what is next.

Wow. Just wow. I always think with the latest book I'm reading that I've just read the most disgusting thing ever, but time and time again, I'm proven wrong. This book is heavy on pedophilia so be warned. It has an interesting storyline, but lacks a lot of depth. There is a sequel to this that I will probably check out. 3/5 stars.

I am giving this book 4 stars because it is well written and I wanted to know how it ended. But this book definitely has me questioning my morals and whether or not reading this book and WANTING to get to the end makes me a bad person or not. Now, this book is about p3d0ph1l3s so there is a lot of child abuse and child s a . If you are unable to stomach that and understand that it is a work of fiction written to elicit rage and disgust then this is definitely not the book for you and you should absolutely stay away from it. I don't usually go for splatterpunk heavy on child s a but the books I put down have the s a in there completely unrelated to the story and the s a in this book is a big part of the plot of the story. I spent the whole book reading wondering how it was going to end....and while I knew there wasn't going to be a happy ending, that was definitely not the ending I had expected.

Now Im gonna go take a shower n scrub my skin til i feel cleansed and then read a happy story with zero sex in it to try and wipe that story out of my brain lol

Bravo to SS Hughes for writing a completely morally grey depraved story!

This was disgusting. I saw a bad review and the cover drew me in. I wouldn't of read it if I knew what it was about but that's on me for not looking into books before reading so I can't complain about the content. If you want something shocking then go for it but look it up first

Dark content aside, there’s several grammatical errors and it just felt pretty unpolished to me. I think this could have used some heavy editing.
As for the content, I saw a mention of this in a splatterpunk group I’m in and didn’t read too much of the post but decided to check it out. When you download the book on kindle it opens up past the trigger warning which isn’t the author’s fault but is definitely detrimental in this case.
This book is pretty bleak and I just struggled the most with how unfinished it felt. It seems like all too often splatterpunk isn’t edited and there’s a lot of errors that make reading less enjoyable.
As always with splatterpunk books, and this one in particular, if you’re a friend of mine or follow me, I don’t recommend this book to you. 💀

Wow! I work for DCF and I see and read many scary, horrifying events. I truly thought I was desensitized! This is the first book I have read that has turned my stomach and stole sleep from me. I just finished this up during my lunch hour, in which I could not eat because my stomach was turning. I am scared to see what book 2 will bring! 🤣 Kudos to actually getting to me and making me feel more than I wanted. LOL! This is only the beginning, here's to your long career of vileness. 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

While reading this book, all I could think of was how this almost certainly happens in real life. I strongly oppose disgusting acts towards children, but I can respect this fictional short story for what it is. Slatterpunk. If this is not your genre of choice, don't read it. There was little character development, relying instead on the graphic plot.

Why I’m avoiding: the nature of this book is often found in extreme horror (graphic SA against minors) but not even close to the same way this one has presented itself. Glorifying pedo’s… no thanks. I’ll absolutely pass.

Trigger Warnings: Paedophilia, child sexual and physical abuse, in graphic detail.

Two paedophiles fall in love and marry, but neither of them know about each others darkest desires.

I'm choosing not to rate this book for several reasons. I didn't hate the book, I actually enjoyed it for the most part. Some parts were just too graphic and detailed for me, and oftentimes, I felt like it wasn't even needed. Literally nothing phases me or makes me uncomfortable in books, but I had to stop and breathe many times while reading this story. I contemplated not finishing a couple of times, but curiosity got the best of me.

This story was well written, and the plot and storyline are unique and interesting, in my opinion. I did feel as if some parts were just rushed and skimmed over. I genuinely think the fully detailed scenes of sexual abuse of minors were unnecessary. I do believe that some description is needed to impact the reader, especially relating to this topic, but fully written smut scenes of a minor is just excruciatingly uncomfortable to read.

The concept was an interesting idea, and I would have loved to have read more about the psyches of our protagonists and their behaviours. I would have liked this novel to be fleshed out more a bit, minus the detailed smut scenes.

This is the debut novel for this author, and I'm definitely going to be checking out the rest of their work.

This was a VERY DIFFICULT read. The subject matter way too intense to discuss. I'm a huge fan of extreme horror and splatterpunk. Definitely not for the weak hearted. This genre pushes some serious boundaries!

Ty but needed a little extra

My biggest issue is we didn't get much perspective of the kids and seeing their decent Into hopelessness so basically I wanted more book which is never a bad thing

Intense!

This one didn't waste any time that's for sure. Quick read, fast paced, depraved. For all the perverse things Caleb And Stacy did in this story, I feel the outcome was poetic justice in a way. Makes me wonder how the little bean would turn out. Great piece for a first novella!

This book is under 100 pages & it kept me hooked from the start.

PAY ATTENTION TO THE TRIGGER WARNINGS!!!

Obviously I'm numb to any warnings so far regarding splatterpunk books. The cover of the book is intriguing on it's own before! I liked how there was an actual story to it all and not just gore. Although I do have questions about the ending & I'd wanna read more about Caleb & Stacy.

I would definitely read more books by S.S. Hughes!!

Hmmmm.

So this will have spoilers below.

So this book will be a hard pill to swallow for most people out there. I admit I had my moments with it since there is csa in it but tbh with how the children acted I keep seeing them as older then they are. That was the only way I was able to finish it. That and I keep telling myself it's not real (even tho I do know this sadly does happen more then we know). With being a mom myself it reminds me why I'm so ocd with my child. Hell I don't even post photos of my kid online due to fear of others. I will also say I kind of hope there is a sequel. I would love to see how the family grows and moves forward...

I truly had high hopes for this book, seeing as to how it is a banned book. The beginning was fairly detailed, and, yet disturbing and horrendous to think about, was actually going somewhere with the plot. However, the further I got, the more disturbing and heartbreaking it became. I felt so heartbroken for those children.
Now, what really peeved me about the whole was the writing style and how rushed the book was, especially at the end. Also, where the hell were the parents to these children? Why did we not get their points of view? What happened in the two or so weeks that the children were locked away in the attic? Why was the author so rushed to just kill these two kids off without any more information about them?
There were just too many open holes to this book, rushed and stopped at a very awkward spot.
Normally, I can handle books that have adolescent harm (Jon Athan and Aron Beauregard, have some that are good), I know they are just stories from a creative mind. But, this was just straight to raping and killing... no actual build-up.
I hope this author finds her niche and can take the opportunity to improve where her readers are expressing their issues.

This book has 0 stars for me, this is absolutely disgusting and the fact that the author has children to is concerning, yes this is fiction and not real however that doesn’t excuse how detailed and graphic this book was. People need to consider that actual pedophiles purchase this book and get it off. If anyone enjoyed this book and claim that it’s because it was well written and the plot was good I hope you never have children and are never around them because that is actually disgusting and unacceptable. There is a line between splatterpunk/ horror or whatever this genre is. I heard that she also attacks and deletes comments when people make bad reviews and that even proves my point. Clearly she has an interest in SA and pedophilia because no mother would ever write a book like this, and would be highly concerned and disgusted about this book. I don’t care that this is fiction or not real this is still highly concerning and this book should be banned anywhere. And the fact that you can get her book only on facebook is also very suspicious.
