SKIP...NOT WORTH THE TIME TO READ & HURTS THE VALUE OF THE SERIES AS A WHOLE
☆☆☆ Maybe?
Inheritance: Book Three (Castaway 3) by Vlad ben Avorham just doesn't work for me. Sorry, Vlad. The first two books were great and really enjoyable.
It seems to me there should have been an additional book or books between book two and three. The author jumps ahead in book three referencing events and people that were not discussed in the prior first two books right off the bat without going back to explain leaving the reader confused and lost and that's just in the first couple of chapters. From there, it gets worse.
This reads more like a historical outline of a society than a novel based on time travel. Not saying that that's really a bad thing if you are looking to read are historical timeline of events, rulers, and the fall of a society but that's not really what this book is. It's not a historical timeline line it's a piece of fiction. This book seems more like an author's notes of people and events he/she would lay out in order to build the story into an enjoy sequence of characters and events in order to keep himself or herself straight.
That being said, this book might appeal to some but it fell far from the mark for me. It's not like me to give a three-star rating to a book but to tell you the truth, I had a hard time justifying a three-star rating and that is saying something.
The first two books in this series are interesting and well worth the time to read them. This final book really could have been left out and would have been more beneficial to the series in whole to do so.
Quotes:
"Love of money leads them into all forms of corruption. It is like the gateway to all manner of evil."
Completely disliked this book! It seemed to me that the author came to dislike the original intent of the first book. There was a huge amount of material to be written about as a second book the genre is ripe with opportunities. The second book was alright and did follow along however not to the extent and imaginative detail I would have liked. The reason i disliked book 3 was that seemed to have lost the plot. He jumped over multiple generations in about 5 pages and went from the time of Dag's children to many many years in the future to a place that was not very interesting at all.
Just about every one of the seven deadly sins overtook Dagon City and its subjects. How many generations passed is somewhat unimportant as it grew like a snowball rolling down hill. Did not enjoy this book As much as the earlier two. A rather blah ending feeding deniers and conspiracy theorists.
Books # 1 & 2 were good. The plots were unique and creative. On the other hand, this book # 3, lacked a clear plot or purpose. It rambled. All three books need editing for spelling and grammar (even characters’ names get misspelled from time to time).
The first two books were quite interestin, but the last one left my why I even read it. My guess is the author was trying to wrap it I to a neat package and missed. Don't waste your time on third one.
The first book was interesting, the second so so. This one sucked. No closure really and essentially just a rambling list of a few hundred years of a fake history.
Alt history fans who enjoyed books 1 and 2 in the series will be disappointed. The author rushes Through dozens of generations with no character development or purpose. Dont waste your time
And this king begot a son who sucked and he begot many sons that all sucked. . . Just skip to the end and read how the story ties itself back together and save yourself the waste of your time.
