AI in a Nutshell: Bridging the Gap Between People and Technology
Hello everybody! My name is John Scherer and I am excited to tell you about my new book AI in a Nutshell. I am trying to bridge the gap between people and technology. Build a foundation of understanding so we can know where technology is taking us. Can you believe how far we have come in this age of rapid technological advancement? Artificial Intelligence (AI) has gone from being a concept in sci-fi movies to a major part of our everyday lives. It's like AI has seamlessly integrated itself into our existence, shaping how we live, work, and connect with the world.
I remember the early 2000s when the internet was just starting to make waves. AOL, Yahoo, personal websites, MySpace, EBay, ECommerce, then Amazon and then they flowed in from there.. Even Walmart.com is like Amazon now. And then the term Cloud hit the airwaves. Cloud this, cloud that, everything is moving to the cloud. Well it is and has been. Microsoft, Google and other big tech companies have developed and continue to improve on the development of AI. Now, it's hard to go a single day without encountering AI in some way. Whether it's our trusty virtual assistants like Elexa and on our smartphones, Siri, Hey Google, those recommendation algorithms on our favorite online stores, or the sophisticated safety features in modern cars, AI is everywhere!
My book gives an overview of where we came from, the foundation that we already built, where we are in the present, how you are already using a tech stack, and what the future holds for us. It helps us understand how we're already using AI in our daily lives, often without even realizing it. It aims to demystify the technology, debunk common misconceptions, and explore how we can responsibly harness the power of AI to enhance our lives.
I believe together we can learn no matter where we are in our experience with technology and together we grow from our own experiences to better ourselves and help each other. Let us bridge the gap between humanity and technology, tapping into the potential of AI technology as a tool that enhances our quality of life, boosts our productivity, and enables us to solve complex problems.
Through this exploration, we'll realize that the story of AI goes beyond just technology. It's a human story, driven by ambition, creativity, and an insatiable thirst for knowledge.
