Well, it was quite amusing, but also a bit annoying, because Tan and the King are being rather stupid. So, I'm still bored and annoyed that I have to finish the series because my head demands it, but somehow I'm not motivated to do so ...
There were only these tiny moments that reminded you of the greatness of the story that had come before. Oh well...

It's picking up. The gang vs pirates. I did like how it was settled in the end. I'm curious about the death revivals Tan and Niran glossed over. I'm almost waiting until Steve says Booooone in each part now.

“For Bone Daddy!”
I absolutely love getting new adventures in Devan and Tan’s world. Tan’s ridiculousness and Devan’s prayers for patience never grow old. The following were my favorite quotes from the book:
Devan felt like he was the only voice of reason in Tan’s world. He also felt like he was speaking that reason into an endless void some days. Most days. Okay, all the time.
The dildo of consequences never arrived lubed.

Another funny instalment with Tan wanting to officiate at 6 weddings between the pirates.

I’m reviewing all the stories together as it really is just one full book, each part starting where the previous ended. These aren’t short stories. They are groups of chapters.
There are lots of funny moments in this, although no laugh out loud ones. The quest seemed ridiculous at first—how many bones are in a dragon’s body? But it turned out the bones were just in groups. They hadn’t been broken up into very many individual pieces.
I liked the characters. At moments, Tan reminded me of one of the crazier of Alice Winters’ characters. The idea of Steve was funny although not as much in presentation. The apprentices were great and I loved the skeletons.
One thing I really didn’t like was that some horrible men harassed the 11-year-old apprentice, which they took very seriously, but they kept talking about them harassing women. Throughout the story, including at that point, she was referred to as a young girl. They weren’t just harassers-trying-to-be-rapists, they were child molesters. Yes, in medieval times (which this world seems modeled after) it wasn’t unheard of for eleven year olds to be married off, but my understanding is that females weren’t considered adults until menses. The younger children married off were for political reasons and weren’t made to have sex until they were older. At least that’s my impression. And certainly eleven is still quite young in this book’s world. So call the men what they are: child molesters.
The book was pretty sexist with very few women. Tan’s other sibling, a woman, was called in to help but left behind leaving the party still heavily skewed towards men. The female apprentice was great as was the female pirate and older woman but there were so few women and the good ones were all tiny, no big physically strong women. And then someone said something along the lines of knowing to never argue with an upset woman. How about an upset person? Or is it just women who can’t be logical when upset?
I didn’t like these quite as much as the first batch but they were still really good. The story was left with plenty of room for growth. I hope the author writes more. I’ll for sure read them.

high sea shenanigans! Pirates and wedding planning! just epic stuff and fabulous

As Cute and Sassy as Tan
Let me say I wish I had written this series! When I say the written language is perfect I mean that each phrase adds to the creation of the characters while separately weaving delightful tales.
Tan is an exuberant yet errant pup and Devon is the only thing that can temper the tomfoolery but in most cases he doesn’t. In fact Devon though responsible in the extreme has become a playful sort. His thoughts are as clever as his actions and together the two characters paint the pages of this journey with more and more unexpected but hilarious characters.
*spoilers*
We are on the second leg of the villainy quest and this time they are facing pirates. I love that a woman pirate is the most feared. It is within moments of meeting King & Consort that she becomes a fast friend. In fact Tan & his Necromancing brother Niran befriend all the men they’ve slaughtered. If the royal family isn’t careful they may run out of enemies to ally.
With six weddings ahead is there really time to find all of Steve’s dragon skeleton?

My only real complaint is that these are so short....and not just because I want more of these stories. It seems, at least to me, that they could be a little more detailed. I understand they're short stories, but they seem rushed in some places. While I greatly enjoyed the fun with the pirates, I felt that situation got resolved a bit quicker than it should've, especially the compromise they came to and knowing Devan, while he's been somewhat corrupted by Tan, still has some morals.
But....
Still greatly enjoyed it! Lesia was especially adorable in this, a very clever apprentice. And Tan's such a romantic! Though part of it is just him wanting to throw a party!
I highly recommend and will definitely be continuing.

Crazily Good
This serialised story is crazily good. It is also very addictive and unless you have more self control than I do totally frustrating as you wait forever the next ‘Bone’, to be published. I’m consoling myself with the thought there are only two more to go. I personally hate the wait. I want them right now. Okay tantrum over.
Seriously even if you do have to wait for the next episode this is a truly fun if utterly crazy read. Then it is the crazy that makes it soooo much fun.

There was one small, itsy-bitsy problem with realizing their dragon bone was on a pirate ship. Two, really. First one fairly obvious.
We're back to regular programming with Devan, Tan and the crew! This installment bordered back on the 'zany' side - but what can you expect when your raiding a pirate ship?
Only two parts left to release! It's been such a pleasure getting this extended adventure. I'm going to have to take the time and find my next AJ Sherwood series to start <3

More glimpses of why we love Tan wrapped around an encounter with pirates. From my (perhaps warped) perspective, the encounter goes pear-shaped (pointing toward a better than expected outcome) courtesy of not Tan, Devan, nor the apprentices, but the pirate captain herself!
Definitely worth the read. Lots of fun and a few delightful quotes... and much anticipation for the next segment of the story!

Another great section! We finally get to the piracy part of this story and it holds up well. Planning; on point at first (it is done by Devon). Execution of plan; mixed. Plan in contact with the enemy; demolished in the best of ways. Things change! And change again! We see black sorcerers! We see pirates! All around fun with some maybe future regret choices but really worth it in the end. Let's see what mad actions happen next on the quest!

This is another arc to the overall Villainy series. The serial is just as funny and ridiculous as the first story. Tan and Devan have another adventure and Tan's apprentices just add to the overall enjoyment. Not to mention a dragon skull named Steve. What more can you want from a set of serial stories? I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Liked the book but did not love it. I think the introduction of the second apprentice caught me off guard in a negative way because, at least with the first one, I had some good story behind him. It's still an ok read, but I liked the first part of the series best. Onto my next adventure, Happy Readings!!!!

Tan and devan never disappoint. it was so funny. I love tan and devan chemistry. It is an epic quest. I laugh wholeheartedly when I read it and love to read it repeatedly. I hope to read more of it.

This book is just as hilarious and easy to read as the others. It’s a great palette cleanser. And the greatest sentence I’ve ever read. “The dildo of consequences never arrived lubed.” So funny. So true. This is a must read.
