I really enjoyed this volume but it’s not without its flaws. I enjoyed the Ally/Allan story from Allans perspective the most. At times it gave me D&D vibes. While the Anne story was enjoyable overall, it did feel like it lacked any mystery, always foreshadowing what was coming up next. The best parts were less her lesbian relationship and more her various friendships and jobs along the way.
The art while mostly great, has details missing from panel to panel. Like a Tshirt suddenly having nothing printed on it or a collar only being in every other panel. The back of characters, and other things closer to us, progressively got less detailed and made some panels look rushed. It’s small things but they added up and seemed to get worse as the book went on.
Same thing for speech bubbles. Some text felt way too cramped in with no white space and at one point Allan’s reply was simply on Aly’s shoulder with the white bubble missing completely. (Really starting to wonder why the editor didn’t point out any of this!)
So overall, still well worth the read. My biggest critique would be, cut back on the foreshadowing and get a better editor.
