Squire Landry has lived in a hell of his mother's making ever since she joined up with a hate-filled church that's now led her to Humans First, the domestic terrorist group determined to rid Earth of aliens. Squire doesn't believe the aliens mean any harm, but when his mother and her pastor insist he apply to become a sex worker—the only thing the aliens have asked of humans—Squire sees a chance to escape.
Administrator Ghosha Progoni Rijal has reached the end of his rope when it comes to dealing with human politicians who would rather condemn than encourage free will. He'd known humans could be prudish about sex, but hadn't expected this much pushback over a viable and highly-desired career choice. And then he meets a frightened, desperate young man who is his fated mate.
Believing he's finally free, Squire also figures he'll have no problem at all becoming a sex worker if his reaction to the big tiger alien who's recruited him is any indication. Maybe Ghosha can be the one to train the virginity right out of him? But when Ghosha explains what Squire is to him, it's pretty clear Squire has won the relationship lottery.
Bound to the Tiger Scout features an anthropomorphic tiger as an alien, a virgin her, hurt/comfort themes, scratchy tongues and dirty talk, found family, sex workers, finding one’s purpose, overcoming bad actors who can't accept help from aliens, and a HEA. This is the third in a planned 6-book series featuring different couples that should be read in order. See my website delaneyrain.com for content warnings.
I was in the mood for a short, easy read with something a little different and spice and this book did not disappoint! I have read the rest of the series too and do suggest reading in order to get background for this story. I’ve enjoyed all of them and they are all great, quick reads.
I really enjoyed Squire’s character in this story. He had such a sad backstory and I loved that he was able to get away to a better life situation. I felt for him so much during one scene! I loved how feisty he was with Ghosha and finally found his confidence to not take any shit!
This book was very much about sex workers and brothels but was done in a very positive way that empowered the workers and gave them better benefits than some other jobs do! I liked that take on it. Ghosha was a great character as well and he is a big advocate for this.
I enjoyed their ending and very much look forward to reading the next book in the series!
I really liked this one, although there really wasn't a whole lot of conflict. I guess that could be a good or a bad thing, depending on what you were hoping for. I wish something had happened with the Human's First people after the MC left Earth. We had this whole build up with his mom and the pastor guy and then nothing happens. At least he got to live happily ever after with his Khess/tiger mate. And we finally get to see a bit of Nor! I really liked both MCs and I liked seeing characters pop up from previous books. I just wish these books were a little longer.
I think I might have to peace-out of this series, tbh. I SO want more good m/m alien romance, and I love the *idea* of furry romance, but the execution is just... super blah? And look, I am all for smut and erotic romance and explicit sex scenes in m/m. I don't always READ them, because a) I'm not always in the mood 🤷♀️ and b) not all authors write them well, but I'm certainly not put off from a book over the idea that sex is a big part of the plot and/or the purpose (i.e. in 🔥🔥🔥 well-written pwp)... but while I actually kind of loved Scout as a character - he was fucking adorable, and I'm all for him escaping the situation he was in - there really WAS no (engaging) plot. There was just a few paragraphs of advancement in the whole humans-are-assholes-yay-furry-nation world building, interspersed with another reason for Scout and Ghosha to fuck, rinse and repeat until a yawn-worthy epilogue. So, was I bored? Yes. Was I disappointed? Yes. Do I still get excited about the next book being about a dragon? Yes...... but I may have learned my lesson with this author and decide to skip it. We'll see how I feel when it drops 🤣
Somehow this series turned out to be different to what I expected it to be. I don't know how I feel about their primary and tbh probably only goal being finding prostitutes for their home planet. You have to have a certain attitude and outlook to be able to work in that field. While I think it is a valid field of work and lets be honest, something that will always be needed no matter how much some might not like it, it is not something I could do or would want my partner to do. These books are meant to be short, fluffy and sexy with some plot to keep you entertained. While the characters were all lovable so far this book felt a bit bla for me. Something was missing and part of that something for sure was the plot this time. Usually Delaney Rain manages to deliver enough plot to make it more than just smut but this time... Maybe it was the lack of anything truly tangible that would make them fall in love with one another before their declarations or more time spent outside of their quarter's or a bit more insight into the alien planet. Who knows. I also felt as though the ending came quite abruptly and left me suddenly waking up asking what just happened.
While there wasn’t anything inherently wrong with this book, a couple of features gave me a bit of an ick. First was Squire’s name. I’m not sure why it annoyed me, it just did. It could’ve beenScout, or Scooter, it just seemed to reinforce his childness. Second was the combination of his age and experience. Until the middle of the story I thought he was a teenager; that’s certainly how the book read and how he acted. And then there’s the weird power imbalance. He basically agrees to work as a prostitute for a man who’s going to “train” him personally. The entire beginning of the book just felt a little skeevy to me, maybe it was supposed to….
I did like that Squier came into his own at the end and found ways to exert his autonomy and authority. He actually became a little bit of a tyrant, but in a good way. I was sad to see that he never “claimed “ his mate back. He was definitely offered the opportunity.
Squires mother and her pastor are part of Humans First - a hateful church group that are intent on destroying everything about the alien race that have come to earth offering medical and technological help in exchange for volunteers to be ax workers on their planet - an offer that comes with many benefits.
They are forcing Squire to volunteer so that he can give them insider information - little do they realize he hates everything about them and what they believe and wants freedom. He signs up and is chosen as a special candidate as the Nor group have identified from his interview that he seemed to be distressed and coerced. When Squire arrives for his in person interview, he is greeted by Ghosha - who he is instantly blown away by and he shortly finds out after that he is Ghoshas mate.
I really enjoy this series, it’s very sweet, has plenty of heat and is such an interesting read!
80% in this book is the first time we’re on Nor. We saw a little while they were at Ghosha’s brothel, but we didn’t go out to explore and see stores, etc. Since all the “aliens” came from there, it would have been nice to see more of it.
I’m disappointed we don’t really see other people. We get like two short scenes with Prince Alam, a handful of scenes with Ghosha’s assistant, and Ghosha’s parents were mentioned but we never saw them in the book or his sister with her kids. These books really just focus on the main characters and we saw almost nothing of secondary characters.
Typos like “Mama Pastor Halbert” with no comma between their names, her instead of hero in the book’s summary, etc. Epilogue kind of left off on a weird note (discussing children without any real answer). 3.5 out of 5 stars?
Squire: gay, 22, dad died, mom moved them to cult-like town Ghosha: pansexual
Ghosha is sent to earth to expand the sex work on his home planet. In the process of interviewing human volunteers he meets Squire, who was sent to volunteer by his mother and her pastor to spy on the Nor. Needless to say as soon as they meet Ghosha sees right through Squire and offers him freedom. Squire jumps at the chance and follows Ghosha to the ship. From there they develop their relationship as mates. This was good but similar to the second book just kind of stops, as if the story stops in the middle of a scene. Despite that this was still a cute book with very low angst and hardly any stakes (. i.e., they weren't in danger or anything like that). Spice level: 4
This one is about Squire (!) who has been forced by his mother and her preacher to become a spy for Humans First, and the tiger-like alien Ghosha who is on Earth to screen the humans who want to come back to the planet Nor.
The drama is out of the way very quickly, and then there's just getting to know each other - which is mostly about Squire and Ghosha fucking, sucking, and fucking some more. Then Squire studies Ghosha's language so he can become his assistant, and then they fuck some more.
This series started out strong, but #2 was disappointing and this one even more so. I won't be continuing.
Oh gawd it was hard to read people being mean to Squire, but thankfully it was for a very short time in the beginning. Has someone from Louisiana, I have to praise Delaney Rain for using Southern sayings correctly! "Bless your heart." Is one of our very nice ways to insult people with different meanings depending on circumstance lol. In Squire's use pretty much said, "You little piece of sh!t." That was great! I think Squire alone made this book, one of my favorites in the series so far. He's just so freaking cute.
I was really looking forward to this book. I love Ghosha! The author is soooooooo Southern though. It's apparent in the first couple of books, but because Squire was as well it made it more so. It's fine just slightly irritating because they use the word "hollered" alot for most audible sounds. 🤷♀️ Overall very cute but a bit repetitive.
I loved this book soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much! also, i really see myself in the characters because my pastor tried to get me to become a sex worker too. but anyway i L-l-l-l-l-l-oveeeeeeee Square SO MUCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH she made me bust kike 2209859834768943176-18479867134-9867139486-983469-81364-7683475-134976893475 times especially when the pastor made her sex work.
Delaney Rain is one of my one click authors. She never fails to deliver a story worth re-reading and Bound by the Tiger Scout was no exception.
I love how the relationship between characters in this series has very little angst. They fall in love quickly, have smoking hot sex, and get their happy ever after with ease. The low angst, quick and easy read hits the spot every time.
2.5 Stars I usually love Delaney Rain books. But this series was just not it for me. I just did not click with it. I cannot say there is anything in particular wrong with it, but it's just a bit.. meh... It lacks something. I guess 'aliens' for me, brings the expectation of more excitement.
Ghosha meets his fated mate when Squire applies for the alien sex worker program. Low angst and practically instalove. It's entertaining and I do like the other characters. I'm on an alien kick right now so this fits the bill. No typos that I could find, editing was sound.
I enjoyed it. It was a nice little story. It was the third story in the series and I think it’s progressing nicely. I can’t wait to read the fourth book. I really like this characters and I like where the story is heading so far.
As always, I enjoyed the story and am always a bit shocked when I get to the last page as I am left wanting to know more. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I like the positivity around sex workers from the aliens here and I liked that that Squire at the end had a lot more confidence in himself , they were an okay couple for this series, not my favourite.
These Furry Alien Mates books are light and fluffy (no pun intended) ways to spend an hour or so. They’re not incredibly deep, but that’s what makes them fun.
Love this series the characters are well written and likable. The story line is believable and interesting. Can’t wait for the next book to be released.
My god I didn't know I would like this series so much. And now I have to wait almost 2 WEEKS FOR THE NEXT ONE?????? Oooohooohoooo Delaney Rain you better write fast cause I need more!!!!
