Rate this book
This is the remarkable true story of Greyfriars Bobby, the world's most devoted dog. When his policeman master, Auld Jock Gray, died, the wee Skye terrier was grief stricken and at the funeral solemnly fllowed the procession to Greyfriars Kirkyard. That night, he began a remarkable vigil which was to last 14 years, until his own death, guarding Auld Jock's grave... and woe betide anyone who got in his way.

I bought this little book at St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, just down the street from Greyfriars churchyard where Bobby and John Gray are buried. At the time, it seemed to be the least fictionalized account of this faithful little dog. I did get a different view of his story from the standard Disney version, and while his story was still a testament to love and faithfulness, I found that I missed the real tear jerking quality of the more embellished versions. I still love that little guy!

Bobby's story really moved me when I first visited Scotland in 2016. It shows, once again, animal's amazing loyalty and love towards their family. This little book is a great for anyone who loves this kind of stories!
