Reading has always been one of my favorite hobbies, even as a little girl. When I was a toddler, my parents would read stories to me over and over. I would hear them so often that I had the books memorized and could recite the story word by word.
My favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, and contemporary romance. So of course that's what I'm inclined to write.
I have a husband, two young daughters, and a mini Australian Shepherd. I've lived in Tennessee the majority of my life and love the state.
I'm extremely addicted to caffeine and enjoy drinking coffee and lattes. I am so pleased that you stopped by my page! Please feel free to follow or contact me at the following pages -
“Wolf Mate” left us hanging by a thread with that cliffhanger, and “Wolf Bitten” did not shy away by yanking us right back into the chaos.
Skylar is constantly dodging danger left, right, and centre, and just when you think things might settle down for a cup of tea (because seriously, these characters deserve a break!), another plot twist explodes.
But here's the thing: it's SO GOOD, and the story is addictive. We see Skylar blossom into this fierce, independent woman, and Raffe is fully redeemed, and I love him! Plus, the side characters are like the best group of friends you could ask for—they crack me up and keep things lighthearted even when the world is falling apart.
Now, let's talk about the ending. Jen L. Grey, you are a cruel, cruel genius! That cliffhanger AGAIN!? The book left me with more questions than answers and a desperate need for the next book. Unfortunately, we have to wait until JUNE for book three -- JUNE! The struggle is real 😫. My brain is already coming up with a million theories, and I can't wait to see if they pan out.
Seriously, if you haven't started this series yet, get on it! Just be prepared to fall in love with Skylar, Raffe, and friends, and maybe start a support group for people who need the next book, like yesterday. Anyone else in? 🐺
It's funny because I read the first book in this series on a Sunday in one sitting, and here I am now finishing book 2 in the series in one sitting also on a Sunday 😂. I love that Raffe stepped it up more in book two, and without giving a spoiler, it was nice to see Skylar figure out her magic! That ending, though, has me dying for book three! Can't wait to see how it all wraps up!
Let's be real, this was a good book, but it was highly predictable at times - I knew what was going to happen/be said even before it was said/done. That being said, this was still a great book, and I will be continuing on to finish the series. I can't wait to see what is in store for Skylar, Raffe, and the rest of the gang.
3.5 stars...wow a lot happened in a short amount of book. There's some spice, supernatural beings (Vampires, shifters, Witches etc) some comedic relief, a whole lot of drama/mate territorial jealousy stuffs. All in all I enjoyed it and will read the 3rd book when it comes out in June as it ended on a cliffhanger. Can't wait to find out wtf is going on and more Raffe.
The last book ended off with a cliffhanger so I had to keep going!
This continued the writing style of the previous book with a fast paced plot, easy to understand world building and all the fated mate content we love.
I’m enjoy the series still but I’m noticing a lack of depth that is making me detach from the characters a bit. I’m not as emotionally involved this time if that makes sense?
Overall, I’m still looking forward to the next book and reading more of the story!
Would I recommend? Yes, but it wouldn’t be my first pick.
“When I bit you, that made you it for me … for my entire life. Our bond is unbreakable.” ❤️❤️❤️
Super swoony!!! I love me a good wolf shifter story and this one is amazing!!! I love the chemistry between our leads and the true friendships this squad has !! Plus Raffe being all “growly and alpha makes him sexier ! 😅 He really outdone himself and proves he is the best mate for skylar!
“ I’m not leaving her side. I’m not sure how much more f****** clear I can be.” 👀
The first book wasn’t good but i needed a no brainer read so i kept on reading god do i wish i didn’t. The constant fights they have because he says one wrong thing then there is an earthquake like i kid you not that is the story line. I have wasted hours on this book i can never get back and i have to live with the regret that i subjected myself to this god awful book for the rest of my life. If i could rinse out my brain with acid where this book is to my utter demise imprinted into memory i would. Save yourself and the years of literacy you have built up to this point because i wish i was that wise before starting this absolute nonsense.
Well I decided to keep reading the series since I finished the 1st book. Hoping she will develop more and own her power but still staying weak and naive.
I get that they are fated, but he is an asshole! And she keeps letting him off the hook way too easy.
Still going to push through it since I've continued this far and still hoping she will step into her strength.
2.5/5 ⭐️ 1/5 🌶️- Second book in the series. Not loving the character development. Very repetitive…..and for the love of god the FMC needs to stop being a damn cry baby about EVERYTHING!!!
I can't get over how easily Sky is manipulated but I understand that this is a whole new world for her so there are difficulties but a least she's starting to find her backbone with them. I like Raffe a little better, it took him way too long to step up and be better. It must be said that Lucy is my favorite character, I adore her, she's open-minded, and caring and I love her spunk. Lucy is a main character living a side character's story and I'm ready for her to have her own series.
It's a crap show. Problems are being thrown at Sky and Raffe left and right. A jerk of an Alpha, a shady AF Priestess, and now a secret society that had a very cult-like vibe. It was a lot but what really grabbed my attention was Skylar herself. Something was most definitely up and while I had a theory but I needed it to be acknowledged. It was killing me. Oddly enough I got what I wanted only to end up with way more questions, especially after those plot twits.
I thought the beginning of Wolf Bitten was nothing but chaos but it has nothing on the last several chapters. I was like "wtf?" The drama was undeniable and so very entertaining. Wolf Bitten left on a cliffhanger with a very important question hanging over our heads and I'm ready to find out the answer in Wolf Touched.
I have been waiting for this book ever since I finished listening to the cliffhanger that was Wolf Mate. Luckily we jump right back in with Wolf Bitten and oof, poor Skylar. Y’all, this poor girl continues to go through it in this book. It feels like every time she turns around something or someone else is gunning for her. I will say that because of this we get to see Skylar really come into her own and show that she’s fierce and has no problem taking care of herself.
I was totally invested in this book from the very beginning. And while there were a few things that were a little repetitive, it kept my attention throughout the entire book to the point that when I got to the end, I just stopped and said “Wait. That’s it? That’s the end?” I totally called the revelation at the end, so it wasn’t surprising, and the end wasn’t really a cliffhanger like the last book was, but it definitely made me want the next book ASAP.
The narration on this was just as great as the last book. Marnye Young did an amazing job brining these characters and story to life and I can’t wait to see what she does with the last book.
Picking up where the last book left off, Skylar wakes up to realize that she was kidnapped. Unsure of where she is and who took her, she tries to figure out what is going on and escape. But with no windows and a magical barrier preventing her from leaving, she knows it won’t be easy. But she is determined to make it back to Raffe. While captive she learns a lot about who are captors are and what they want. They believe they are on the right side of things, but Skylar can’t be easily swayed when they had kidnapped her in the first place. Even once she escapes and is reunited with Raffe, there is still so much to figure out. Her magic, Raffe’s father who has his own reasons for wanting to tear Raffe and Skylar apart, Raffe and her fated mate bond, and so many other things. We get some neat twists and turns in this story! A huge surprise when it comes to Skylar and of course a cliffhanger that leaves us desperate for the next book! You definitely don’t want to miss this book and I can’t wait for the next one!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It's been a while since I've read a shifter series that didn't feel completely recycled from other popular shifter series. If you read a lot of shifter books, you'll find it doesn't deviate a ton, but enough for it to feel more unique.
I like this series. The characters aren't completely loveable, but they're not unbearable either.
Skylar, like many FMCs in most PNR/Fantasy books finds that she's more than just human after growing up as an adopted child. To be honest, I'm a little tired of reading this trope. I get that it's popular, and that's not on Grey by any means. I would just love to see more diversity in characters' back stories.
There are some unique plot points that feel just similar enough to know the magic systems (to a point) without having to go into significant detail so that it leaves more time to world build and take a bit of a deeper dive into the character development.
Overall, this book was a fun read, relatively fast paced, and I enjoyed the ride.
Brb, diving into the newest release from today 🥰. I'll report back 🫡
I didn’t think the 2nd book could get better BUT BOOM 🤯 Jen took this one up a notch.
The character growth, the supporting characters growth, the emotion, and don’t get me started on the cliffhanger 😆 (but hey if you have read any of Jen’s books you know she loves to leave you with jaw dropping cliffhanger!) which is worth it! 🩷
Skylar that girl goes through even more in this book, But she keeps fighting! Even with all the crappy situations coming from different directions the girl doesn’t stop!
Raffes character take on a whole new level in this book! He’s definitely got that alpha hole going for him still, but he’s a big old cinnamon roll towards Skylar.
The side characters oh gosh they bring the book together like always! You have to love them all! They being the comedy, that has you laughing out loud.
I highly recommend this book! And look forward to jumping into the next one!
As “Wolf Mate” left me struggling to search for who might have wanted Skylar so bad they would ambush her and spirit her away. For what purpose? Good or bad? Who? And why would a friend betray her? So many questions left me hanging. But Jen L. Grey is a storyteller that can twist a tale so you might never guess where she is going until she leads you there. And so, on to “Wolf Bitten” which is now available today. The story picks up just as she left us in “Wolf Mate” and delves deeper into Skylar’s magic, how she landed at EEU and the changes within her as she slowly evolves. But Rafe is close behind as he has realized that his interest in her isn’t just going to go away. This tale just gets richer , more involved and oozes drama everywhere. I highly recommend you check this trilogy out, with the final tale coming out on the heels in June.
I have been provided with a copy of Wolf Bitten from the author and I am voluntarily leaving an impartial review. Wolf Bitten is the second book in the brand-new The Forbidden Mate Trilogy series and I just loved getting to reenter this amazing world. This book picks up immediately where book one left off so make sure you're caught up otherwise you’ll be really confused. This book was just so good. The ups and downs just had me on the edge of my seat. You would have these quiet moments and just finally be coming off the adrenaline high of the previous reveal or circumstance and then bam something else happens and your emotions are spiking again. Even though I saw the ending coming it was done in such a way that I was still asking myself what just happened I was just so floored. I need the conclusion to this series as soon as possible.
I love how the book picks right up after the first one. And ohh book 2 did not disappoint! Finally Sky and Raffe get more time together and things really pick up between them. 🔥🔥 But they have even more obstacles. So much happens with sky and her powers and we still need more answers. And then the biggest change she went through had me so happy but still needing answers. Raffe continues being my favorite book bf right now. And I really hope his dad comes around and changes. And just like the cliffhanger in book 1, book 2 does not disappoint either. My jaw dropped and I was like like... Jen did not just do that to me...again!! This series is such a great paranormal fantasy romance. And I love how so far the main male character (Raffe) is being more alpha with the main female (Sky), more dominant. I love a good dominant male lead especially if he deserves it.
I am absolutely loving this series. The first book was full of bully goodness, but this second book was all about fated mates and gahhhh I love Rafe and Sky. This installment was full of suspense and action while we work on uncovering the secret society. It's mildly spicy, but what there is is so perfect.
Josie and her love, my heart. That ending was such a surprise and I really hope we get more because I adore her and I love the whole idea of their relationship.
And then that cliffhanger! We have more questions than answers as we finish this one, but it just has me racing for the conclusion to this trilogy, I can not wait for the audio to release.
Marnye Young is amazing and I love her as Skylar and co. She brought these characters to life so wonderfully and I had such a great time listening to this book.
This was a good sequel. It did feel a little info dumpy compared to the first, but I just think that’s bc there wasn’t a lot of clear cut info in the first. Of course Skylar’s a wolf shifter. And Slade and the coven definitely have something cooking. The king can go and die. I don’t even think Raffe wants to rule, so the king has nothing to hold over him. I want Skylar and Raffe to run together in their wolf forms. I think that would be so cute. I want more Lucy!!! But I’m happy that Skylar is becoming friends with Hecate. I need more info on this scholarship and why they wanted Skylar there. And I’m pretty sure the parents know something too. I still feel like this is set at a high school. They seem too immature for college students and there’s a big emphasis on football. Very high school. And what’s up with Josie and Dave??? I need to know more. And why is Cat-Keith so cute???
I like a touch her-or-die leading man like any other paranormal romance, girl, but this couple I find to be frustrating, annoying, selfish, self-centered, and unredeeming. There is no sense of family or genuive care shown from the H’s to the friends around them. The leading H essentially treats everyone like a servant. What's suppose to be an alpha protecting his mate constantly feels like a teenager, throwing a tantrum. Our lady h’s growth as a person is essentially stunted by a romance atc that's frankly boring. I don't get butterflies, deep sighs nothing. Also nothing is interesting about her outside of brief descriptions of her not fitting in.
The plot of this series continues to leave me on the edge of my seat waiting to uncover everything. I was completely engaged with the story from start to finish, going through a range of emotions. Like hate, I hate Raffe’s dad. He’s a real a-hole. I’m hoping he redeems himself for Raffe’s sake but we shall see. But then we have the best interactions between Raffe and Skylar or Keith, he was pretty funny in this one! I don’t know why I was surprised by Skylar’s development in this because I knew there was more to Skylar! But then there’s that cliffhanger! I love/hate it! I can’t wait to find out what’s going on.
Because Skylar didn’t have enough trouble, she needed another few enemies. Kidnapped by a secret society trying to brain wash her, her old friend, Slade, drops by for a visit. He lies about not knowing which witch was leading her captures. He then helps her escape. Not without harm. Raffe finds them once they have escaped. They are confronted by Slade’s mother over an outing to visit Raffe’s dad. That didn’t go well. Skylar is attacked by three wolves and nearly killed. She survived by turning into a wolf herself. When she and Raffe complete the bond, all the parents disapprove. That might be an understatement. Will all the parents come out to play?
And again I couldn’t put this book down! So many twist and turns in this series will Skyler ever get a handle on what exactly her power is and what the crap all of the changes mean!? The bond between them seems to have both her and raffes family on edge neither seem to understand it for completely different reasons. And sky keeps finding out more and more about her powers and what they are capable of. While they navigate this new life their enemies seem to just keep coming out of the woodwork! …. Again with the cliffhanger ending that jerks you to the next book no time for stopping! Must see what happens next!😂
MAKE SURE TO READ BOOK ONE: From the first page this book takes off right where the last one ended, after she realizes she has been taken her wolrd emplodes, Raffe and the others are looking for her but with each page a new twist, a new plot, more people out to keep them apart. One you start reading you won't be able stop. It emotional, heartbreaking, action packed, suspense, and more with an ending that will blow your mind a have you wanting more. I so can't wait to see what happens in the next.
Wolf Bitten begins where Wolf Mate ended so it's necessary to read this series in order to understand what is happening. Skylar is finding out that not all is what it seems at Evergreen Elite. Being kidnapped had just added more questions to her ever growing list of who she is and who is out to destroy her. Read to find out what it takes to get some questions answered and for Skylar and Raffe to complete their bond. Expect twists, action, betrayal and surprises. Oh and beware.....the cliffhanger will have you begging for the next book to come out now.
Jam packed is an understatement for this one! We got it all… fight scenes, spice, banter, fated mate insanity…. 😂😂😂 I gave this book 3.5 stars, I felt it was a decent read and definitely kept me entertained but Sky is so annoying to me and it just ruins the vibe for me sometimes… she is always second guessing herself and her mate and it just gets a little repetitive. Overall I did find this book very entertaining and would recommend it and I am looking forward to reading the next/last book in this series!
