Tasteful Anarchy and Tangled Auras

Rate this book
After World War II revealed their existence, the Fae of mythology and folklore were thrust into human society. Resettled in America, the Fae have mostly refused to integrate with their human counterparts.

But Adelaide, granddaughter of the Queen of the Nymph Court, has been living a content life in Boston amongst friends, lovers, and a bustling coffee shop. Her mixed heritage has allowed her to spend most of her life avoiding royal commitments. Until now.

The queen must change the inheritance laws, requiring Adi to rejoin the confines of etiquette, obligation, and the occasional torture session.

Forced to take consorts, Adi finds herself surrounded by male nymphs seeking power and passion. However, when a revolutionary group approaches her, Adi's life gets a whole lot more interesting. And when the dark and brooding Captain Bryn's aura starts to intertwine with hers, Adi begins to question everything.

With her homelands—and bedroom—in chaos and ripe for rebellion, the future of the Fae rests solely on her. Adi must decide: Does she want the throne, or does she want to see the downfall of the monarchy?

who doesn’t love a why choose fantasy romance with a strong, kickass FMC and two vastly different, but equally as obsessed, MMCs???🤭
the world building and lore of this book is so different from anything else I’ve ever read, and I love it! I couldn’t put this book down once I started it.
it gets five stars from me, and a 2.5/5 for spice!
can’t wait to see what happens next👀

This was a solid 3.5 stars for me.

ARC Review

The lore and set up were interesting, if a bit drawn out. I felt like I was playing catch up for the first 1/4 of the book, making sure I understood what was actually happening.
That being said, the characters were dynamic, ruthless, and interesting. Adi was the black sheep of a family of power hungry fae royals who had insecurity driving the beginning of her relationship with Bryn. Ossy ended up being the glue the held their little reverse harem together because he was no nonsense and tended to be slower to anger than the other two.
I think the author shows promise and I’m hopeful for future books.

Spice: 5/5

Triggers: sexual harassment, SA (dubcon-y ritual), violence, gore, emotional and psychological abuse, fat phobia, explosion

The characters? The smut? THE MEN? Perfection 🤌🏻
Each character is so carefully crafted & the dynamic of adi, bryn and ossy is just my favorite.

One of biggest things is while the spicy scenes are SPICIN, the after care is written perfectly and to me for some reason- reassuring.

Shout out to Tilly for showing me I have some new kinks 💀
Now excuse me while I RUN to book 2🫶🏻

Tasteful Anarchy and Tangled Auras by Tilly Bramley is a bold, lush fae court dark romantasy about Adelaide (Adi), the mixed-heritage granddaughter of the Nymph Queen who is lifted out of her cozy life in Boston and thrust into a world of magic, monarchy, rebellion, and passionate bonds with not one but two fierce male nymphs as she navigates duty, desire, and revolution within a secret fae society living alongside humankind. The novel mixes political intrigue with sensual tension as Adi must decide if she will embrace her royal inheritance or help dismantle a system built on tradition and control.

Right at the outset I was struck by how Bramley wove together mythic lore with modern emotional beats, letting me feel both the weight of Adi’s responsibilities and the thrill of her defiant humor; being pulled from her coffee shop comforts into court etiquette made her both relatable and fierce, as she constantly questioned who she was supposed to be versus who she wanted to become. Bryn, the brooding captain with an aura that both unsettled and intrigued her, gave the romance a slow-simmering heat, while Ossy’s steadfast strength brought a grounding warmth that made the why-choose tension feel alive in every scene.

Some world-building felt rich and imaginative, yet in moments I wished for clearer explanations of certain mystical elements so I could sink even deeper into this alternative fae world, but overall the emotional landscapes were vivid, the stakes felt personal, and the chemistry between characters was electric. I would give Tasteful Anarchy and Tangled Auras 4 out of 5 stars because of its compelling protagonist, intricate court dynamics, and the way it made me feel swept up in both romance and rebellion, eager to continue Adi’s journey in the next installments.

*4.5 star review

I wasn't entirely sure what to expect when I started reading "Tasteful Anarchy and Tangled Auras", but I have to say the title describes it perfectly. The author of this book gives us a fascinating world filled with fae, a royal house in trouble with declaring the new heir, and rebellion brewing within. There's magic in this world, and some fated mate bonds make it even more complex for Adelaide to re-enter the world she tried to leave behind.

I love the connections between some of these characters, and how the bond between mates works in this world. Even though Adelaide is born from royalty, she's quite down to earth and I enjoyed watching her interact with everyone around her. There's plenty of spice in this book, but it's nicely balanced with plot development. The only thing that made it hard to read this book at times, and resulted in me deleting half a star, is the complexity of the worldbuilding and how it needed a bit more explaining for me to really understand everything about it. At times, it felt like the author had been living in this world so much that she seemed to forget readers didn't have it envisioned the same way yet. But since this book is a new author's debut I believe it's excusable, and I'm definitely going to pick up book two to find out what will happen next.

First of all, I am blown away by the scope and complexity of the worldbuilding this author achieved within this fast-paced, 200 page book! Surprisingly lush, the royal fae court setting was beyond vivid. This one was literally made for readers like me who love to read about the richly interwoven fae folklore and culture!!

The characters in this book are similarly beautifully developed! I absolutely adore Adi, the FMC, who’s got no shortage of feminine rage and badassery I can totally get behind. Then there’s the two toe-curling male love interests: Bryn (the moody captain) and Ossy (Nordic/Viking nymph). The medium burn romance and fiery dynamic between these three made me think that this series is going to be perfect for fellow fans of the Cupidity series by Raven Kennedy!

Final thoughts…DANG those spicy scenes and oh man, that ending!! Tilly almost had me raging and rioting at her—IYKYK!!

What to Expect:
—Bi FMC
—Why Choose
—Touch Her & 💀
—Only One Bed
—Fated Mates
—SPICE 🌶🌶🌶

Thank you so much to the author for sending me a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review! All thoughts and opinions expressed above are entirely my own.

"For someone who wants to dismantle the monarchy, you sure know a lot about how the Court works." "Just because I don't give a fuck about the game doesn't mean I don't understand how it's played."

So I devoured this book in one sitting. Which I can NEVER do anymore .... & I did.

Because it is so friggin good ... like insanely good!

All three of the main characters are absolutely amazing. I love how different they are, but how they each love those differences.

I cannot pick between the two MMC's, I need both in my life forever.

I loved the plot, the spice, the fluidity in their sexuality, and the lore & history. It had me hooked from start to finish.

You get:
• Dark Romantasy
• Why Choose
• Royalty
• MFM
• Spicy
• Touch Her & ☠️
• Matriarchal Society

Book two is coming out June 15th ... & I am so beyond excited to keep going with this series! Available on Amazon, through KU, ebook, and paperback.

Several elements in this fae story seem non-consequential to the point of bewilderment. As soon as Adi returns to the FEC, the human world and all its gadgets seem irrelevant, if not for the Arthur Weasleyian enchanting of iPods, blenders and whatever else appliances Bramsley wants imported into the fae realm.

The story had some interesting world-building until the book became as much about having intercourse as anything else in the narrative. I shouldn't read the equivalent of an adult film, and then complain about the lack of plot progression, but here I am doing that anyway.

Beautiful

I really enjoyed getting to know Adi, Bryn, and Ossy! The side characters in this are also fun and well-written. I'm intrigued by Adi's relationship with Sean's partner. Are they mates also? The tension and banter with Bryn and Adi was deliciously frustrating! I loved how easy her development with Ossy happened! I'm glad there are two more books because I love this and can't wait to delve even deeper.

Tilly Bramley’s "Tasteful anarchy and tangled auras " is a spellbinding tale that seamlessly weaves fantasy, romance, and political intrigue into a captivating narrative that leaves readers breathless. The story unfolds in a post-World War I America where the Fae have emerged from the shadows of mythology, and it is within this vibrant setting that we meet our protagonist, Adelaide, the granddaughter of the Queen of the Nymph Court.

Bramley’s writing is nothing short of enchanting. She crafts a richly detailed world filled with magic, complex characters, and the weight of tradition that feels both timeless and contemporary. Adi’s life in Boston, surrounded by the warmth of friends and the buzz of a coffee shop, quickly shifts as she is pulled back into the royal fold, and the author masterfully captures the tension between her desire for freedom and the heavy mantle of royal responsibility.

Adi is a wonderfully relatable character—strong yet vulnerable, rebellious yet respectful of her heritage. The conflict within her is palpable, especially as she navigates the treacherous waters of court politics and the expectations placed upon her. The introduction of male nymphs vying for her attention adds a delightful layer of tension and competition, but it is the dark and brooding Captain Bryn who truly captures her heart—and ours. Their chemistry crackles off the page, making every moment they share electric and filled with potential.

What truly sets "tasteful anarchy and tangled auras " apart is Bramley’s exploration of themes such as power, identity, and the struggle for agency. As Adi confronts the revolutionary group and the impending changes to her monarchy, readers are drawn into a rich tapestry of rebellion and self-discovery. The stakes are high, and the choices Adi faces are both thrilling and heart-wrenching. The question of whether she will embrace the throne or fight against the monarchy will keep you guessing until the very last page.

Bramley's ability to intertwine the personal with the political makes this story resonate on multiple levels. The vibrant aura of the Fae, the lush descriptions of their world, and the emotional depth of the characters create an unforgettable reading experience. "Tasteful anarchy and tangled auras" is not just a tale of fantasy; it is a poignant exploration of the choices that define us and the power of love to ignite change.

In conclusion, Tilly Bramley has crafted a masterful work that deserves a place on every fantasy lover’s bookshelf. "Tasteful anarchy and tasteful auras " is a thrilling, romantic, and thought-provoking journey that will leave readers eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Adi’s remarkable story. Highly recommended!

ARC Review: Tasteful Anarchy & Tangled Auras
Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice: 🌶️🌶️ 1/2

Tasteful Anarchy & Tangled Auras by Tilly Bramley is a captivating reverse harem/fated mates romance that delves into the shadowy realms of fantasy. Set in a world where the Fae, once hidden in myth and folklore, have emerged into human society after World War II, this novel weaves intrigue, passion, and rebellion.

Adi, granddaughter of the Queen of the Nymph Court, leads a seemingly idyllic life in bustling Boston. But fate intervenes, thrusting her back into the rigid confines of etiquette and the occasional torment.

As the queen alters inheritance laws, with Adi set to inherit, she must take consorts. Surrounded by choices and fated mates, anarchy builds in the background. Adi grapples with a pivotal choice: embrace the throne or champion the monarchy's downfall? The tension between duty and desire, loyalty and rebellion, pulses through every page, leaving readers spellbound.

The romance is tantalizing, with little to no slow burn—a departure from the usual trope. Fans of passionate encounters will find this aspect enticing. Fans of slow burn however, may find themselves wanting more.

While the novel immerses readers in the Fae world, there are some holes in the world-building. Certain creatures lack clear definitions, leaving room for improvement. High fantasy enthusiasts might crave more intricate details. Those primarily interested in romance may overlook the world-building gaps, while high fantasy aficionados might yearn for a more robustly painted universe.

Bramley's deft storytelling transports readers to a realm where love and power collide, and where one woman's choices will shape the destiny of an entire fae kingdom. I’m anxiously waiting to see what happens in future installments!

This one was an absolute RIDE from start to finish. I read it in less than a day because I couldn’t put it down. The book is a different twist on Fae, where it takes place in modern-day and there are areas around the US that hold pockets of nymph and other non-human populations. Some are of mixed heritage like the FMC - Adelaide/Adi - who is nymph, selkie, and human. And in the nymph Court, Adi is part of the matriarchal royal lineage, though considered to be too far removed to be of importance. However, there appears to be a hiccup in “continuing the line” so the Queen (Grandma) opens the royal ranks to allow Adi the opportunity to take the crown. Through conception. Which is NOT what Adi wants. She just wants to go back to her coffee shop in the human world. SAME, GIRL. Then the male nymph consorts start flooding in and here’s where we meet Bryn.

Bryn is tall, dark, and moody and knows his way around the Court. And I’m ALLLLLL for the sexual and political banter between these two while Bryn opens Adi’s eyes to everything happening outside of Court. The TENSION between this two is SO FREAKING GOOD. I love when two people fight attraction that is CLEARLY. THERE. and try to work around it. Good f*cking luck.

And then Ossy comes into the picture, the large Nordic nymph that has me swooning. These three then get into all sorts of situations - some that I want to be a part of and others, not so much. The spice between them was PERFECTION.

And the part where Adi must follow through as priestess to seal a deal??? I will not give it away but I’m an absolute sucker for female rage and violence. Bring it on.

Obviously, I LOVED THIS BOOK. It was short, intriguing, spicy, and I can’t wait to jump into the next one!!

Diving into this series, this was such a well thought out introduction for the new world we are jumping into. We have so much going on in this series - aside from the romance and relationships of course - and I wasn’t expecting as much political discourses as we got. I didn’t hate it, don’t’ get me wrong, I just had pictured pure filth and lots of angst between the three MCs haha

Individually, I really liked the three characters. I’m super biased and loved Bryn more than Ossian, but that’s just because I like them dark and moody. Adi has her work cut out for her between these two, especially as someone who isn’t ready for a relationship. Not that she isn’t scared of them or anything, it just isn’t a priority at the moment. But then finding out she has not one but two mates? WOW haha. Adi is a chaotic mess with no sense for her own safety and I felt bad for her men at a few times lmao She was just throwing herself at everything while they followed along trying to make sure she was safe.

Ossy was adorable! He literally met her, loved her, claimed her all within a few hours. It was such a difference between him and Bryn. Bryn was a bitch, but I loved him lmao.

There was a lot of world building in this first book, which I expected, and it was surprisingly really easy to follow! The descriptions were perfect and we were introduced into this world quickly and I was able to understand the politics going on fairly easily.

𝐓𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐲 & 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐬 is an entertaining reverse harem/fated mates romance by Tilly Bramley that explores the darker side of fantasy with a rebellion bubbling up inside a Fae community that has been ruled by a monarchy for centuries. When the rules of succession are changed so that Adelaide can assume power despite her mixed heritage, her whole life is turned upside down. She has lived a much more free life in the human world. Does she want to perpetuate the rituals of the monarchy, or does she want to make drastic changes for the good of her people? With danger on the horizon, every decision could be a matter of life or death.

The world building was complex with many unique characters, great imagery, and an engaging plot. I’ll admit that I did get a bit tangled up in trying to keep everything straight at times, but I never lost interest. There was plenty of drama, action, twists, and the fantasy elements added an extra layer of fun to the story. I enjoyed the fated mate concept and the bonds evolved, as well as the witty banter between the characters. The spice level was definitely a five-alarm fire, but it made sense for the story, given the description of the characters and their traits. This was a very complex story to tackle in a debut novel, but it was very well done. I’m curious to see what happens next!

I received an ARC for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

My rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️(3,5)

Tasteful Anarchy and Tangled Auras (TATA) delivers a delightful mix of romance, fae politics, and intrigue, set in a post-WWII world where the Fae exist alongside humans. The story centers on Adelaide, the granddaughter of the Queen of the Nymph Court, who is pulled away from her life in Boston and back into the treacherous realm of royal obligations. It’s a gripping why choose romance, and the book does a great job developing the dynamic relationships that unfold throughout.

One of the standout features is the balance between a slow-burn and fast-burn romance. Adi’s different relationships evolve at unique paces, and watching these dynamics intersect towards the end is one of the most compelling aspects of the book. Adi herself is an interesting lead—torn between the life she’s built in the human world and her responsibilities back in the fae realm, she faces not only romantic dilemmas but political ones, too. The court’s intrigue and power struggles add depth, though at times the political elements can feel slightly overwhelming. That said, it never detracts too much from the central narrative and keeps things engaging.

Roxanne Devereaux’s narration truly elevates the audiobook experience. Her voice work is captivating, with clear differentiation between characters, making the listening experience all the more immersive. If you’re considering this series, I highly recommend the audiobook version.

Overall, TATA offers a lot to enjoy: complex characters, romance, and a rich fae world with plenty of twists. It’s a promising start to the series, and I’m eager to see what comes next for Adelaide

ARC review.

Tasteful Anarchy is a fun start a new series about nymphs, Fae, fated mates, rebellion on both a world and personal level, and discovering your path. Its a fun, engaging, and sexy read that was compelling enough that I look forward to continuing with the series.

The world is extremely interesting and one of the book’s strengths. I didn’t find the worldbuilding too much but everyone will be different in that regard; I was curious to learn more about the settlements where the Fae live, the Courts, and different types of Fae. I loved how lived in the world felt, nothing seemed forced. The anarchy plot is also such an intriguing way to explore the world and the characters.

Adi, Bryn, and Ossy are likeable protagonists that you want to follow. Adi is a great entry to the world as she’s spent most of her life living outside her community. She’s headstrong and insouciant, but still hurts from being the black-sheep of her family. Her natural interest in the anarchist plot makes sense. Bryn’s an idealist who doesn’t mind getting dirty, and Ossy’s no-nonsense but sweet. The way the mating bond works in their world is interesting, and their connections feel natural. It doesn’t just feel like a bunch of sexy people thrown together so we can read about sexy times, they seem like they would find each other even if a bond wasn’t involved.

Spice: Lots of spice, but it’s not on every page and works with the plot.

Violence: There is some violence, not as much as there is spice, but it doesn’t feel gratuitous and is not very graphic.

I listened entirely to this on audio (thanks to the author for the ALC) and I have to say first of all that Roxanne Deveraux gives the best audio performance I think I’ve ever listened to. Her ability to do the different voices for the characters— including convincing male voices and extended passages in a Norwegian baritone— is absolutely astounding. Is this her first audio book? Cause I’m going to need her to record at least ten more immediately, please and thank you. Five stars for the performance.

3.5 stars rounded up for the book. The characters are compelling and the world they live in is fascinating. In many ways this story feels like what Anita Blake’s Merry Gentry story should have been? My one big issue was that there’s too much time spent on details we absolutely don’t need— what everyone looks like, what they’re wearing, in depth anecdotes from Adi’s past about all sorts of weird random stuff like her coffee shop employees we don’t even properly meet— and then less energy and description is spent on proper worldbuilding things, like the different fae species (I still don’t know what a joint-eater is and I had to look up a bunch of things), what exactly Adi’s role as a priestess entails, or why the hell everyone gets horny if anyone is mad? Or details felt buried, like how Adi’s aunts were trying to kill her. I spent most of the book not sure why the EA was even organizing a rebellion in the first place. But I’m definitely invested! Why am I such a sucker for a big Viking cinnamon roll? And Bryn is wonderfully angsty. I just wish we’d seen the two of them bond more, rather than being told about it… and then had Adi’s breakfast described in detail. I hope the next audio version comes out soon, I want to wait for it, but I might not have the patience!

This is a quick read about a badass woman bringing down the monarchy with two sexy men at her feet. I cannot believe this is a debut novel.
The steam is so steamy and the romance so sweet. The setting and fashion descriptions are not too wordy but paint the picture perfectly. The triple POV is done well and the characters are different enough that I didn’t lose track of whose thoughts I was in. I loved the pace and the action and adventure.
There are so many interesting magical elements: the spelled bed that burns up clothes, mirrors that become portals, an enchanted piercing for shape shifting clothes, doors that unlock with hand prints rather than keys, soulmate threads, shape shifting creatures…
As nearly a fantasy virgin, I found the magical parts so cool and not too overwhelming. And yet I’m sure that there was so much that was too over my head for me to even recognize or appreciate.

I was not an ARC reader but I hope I can be for book 2 so I don’t have to wait much longer to read more!

Being my first read from Tilly and Why Choose, I wasn’t sure what to expect from this author or the book. It was the historical retelling and fae components that truly drew my interest.

Tilly provides a fresh perspective on fated mates. All three characters are written well. This was a quick read for me, but I appreciate how well the plot is balanced with the spice. The spice was great, but didn’t take away from the anything else in the book.

Why Choose is a trope that I am still new too, and I appreciate how Tilly approached it. It wasn’t just two mates for the sake of spice, but both these men were needed by the FMC. Tilly took great care are providing representation to many diverse lifestyles without overdoing it. It was tasteful, but you can tell she is passionate about what she writes. Her passion is obvious in this novel and I can’t wait to read more.

As always review trigger warnings before reading.

I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. Tilly gives us a unique taste on contemporary fae in an alternative universe where the fae revealed themselves to after the world war.
Adelaide is pulled from her life of leisure in the human lands and forced to enter her grandmothers race for the throne. A world of sex, politics and tension. The plot was a whirlwind of adventures and very very spicy scenes. Despite the high stakes, there is humour on every page and the chemistry between characters jumps out. Bryn, you have my heart. Unique take on mates and the beginnings of some really beautiful world building, cannot WAIT!! For the next book.
I only wish this was 100 pages longer. There’s so much rich world building that I felt we only got to touch on and I want to be immersed even more. Let me get lost in this alternative world!! (I am bias to a long book, what can I say?)

This Book This Book Thisssss Book!
I have read fantasy’s but this is my first “Dark Fantasy” and I am in love. The way this world is set up is “chefs kiss”. There is something about Tilly’s writing that encapsulates a particular world she is setting us up for. The characters are well thought out, the FMC is strong and you fall in love with the 3 main characters. The spice is intense, I blushed at most parts because girl, hot damn 🥵. This book was a good starter in getting back into the fantasy genre. Personally, I will hold this book as my metric to Dark Fantasy/Romance books. It’s an easy read, and once you’re sucked into Adi world, you’re hooked! This is only part 1 Adelaide’s story! Tilly has 2 other books in this particular series and I am sooo excited to review it for yall!. Tilly I’m gonna keep an eye on you 😉.

Book is available on Amazon, Kindle and bookstores!

If you love an FMC who loves to banter, not your typical damsel with a mixture of fae mythology, Celtic folklore, hints of Norse, and tiny hints of history, this book is a definite must read. I'm not going to give a synopsis of the book but rather what stood out to me and why I kept reading.
You are thrust into a modernized world where fae and humans coexist after the events of World War II, which I thought was a fun concept. I think the beginning was slightly rushed but it pans out and starts to make sense the more you got into the story. The spice level was low to start and doesn't pick up until the 2nd half of the book. Did I mention found mates? And fake dating... and your dark broody male and ray of sunshine male. The book leaves you on a cliffhanger so prepare to yourself to be gutted because you have to wait for book 2.

ARC Review: Tasteful Anarchy & Tangled Auras
Stars: 6
Spice:
1/2
Tasteful Anarchy & Tangled Auras by Tilly Bramley is a captivating reverse harem/fated mates romance that delves into the shadowy realms of fantasy. Set in a world where the Fae, once hidden in myth and folklore, have emerged into human society after World War II, this novel weaves intrigue, passion, and rebellion.

This book was a really good read about the world's within the fae this story has a strong plot throughout with well developed character's. Like most fairytale books are quite serious this one was less it had a more interesting way of approach.
Adi who is the main character is living a normal life among the humans until she finds out her grandmother the queen has gifted her with an inheritance where she has to come and live a new life amongst the fae.
