I haven't read any books by Jo Davis yet, so I didn't know what to expect. And I was positively surprised.

Usually, I don't like the idea of love at first sight, but in this story, somehow, it's cute and sweet. And that's how I think about this story in general - sweet. But, once again, in a positive way, not like it's so sweet that I feel my teeth ache. I often complain about the lack of proper romance development and the idea of insta-love, but not this time. It somehow fits with the whole story.

The suspense part is really interesting and unique. I wish it were a bit more developed, as it could be. But for such a short story, it is well-constructed and absorbing. I like that the cops really investigate the case and don't just wait for the killer to reveal himself, which I sometimes feel is the case in books like this.

The characters are quite likeable. Robyn keeps repeating that Chris is too good to be true, but I don't have that impression. Actually, he seems believable and very likeable. So is she. Even though the story is short, I didn't get the impression that the characters are just some shadowy people.

Three stars for this story, and I will definitely grab another book from Jo Davis one day.

(Oct) Chris is a Sugarland detective, cousin to Shane and Shea. He's not been feeling well, and does not know why. He meets Robyn (and her daughter), a doctor, on one of his walks and there is an immediate attraction. They meet a second time at a bbq, and then they finally have a date, which ends in bed. Robyn has a DARKSECRET from her past pertaining to her dead husband, but while she is reluctant to share, she is more than happy to continue to see Chris. Chris feels ok, then he gets really sick again and ends up in the hospital, almost dying. Chris and Robyn, with some help from other detectives and hospital staff, realize that the rash of burglaries Chris is researching is connected to a rash of dead heart attack victims Robyn has seen in the hospital. Robyn ends up in danger, and Chris rescues her. They proclaim their love and presumably live HEA.

There was nothing wrong with this book, but there was something lacking. Chris was a perfectly pleasant guy, and Robyn was a perfectly pleasant lady. Not sure why her DARKSECRET was such a big deal but at least she shared with Chris (she at one point said "I just don't know if I can ever talk about it." - like that would have been ok!). The sex was almost too plentiful (a rare complaint for me!) - it was kind of bland and boring (odd since JD's When Alex Was Bad was incredibly naughty/hot!)- a bit of oral, a bit of missionary or girl-on-top, but it just seemed, IDK, not very hot or that passionate. Also, some of their dialogue when in the bedroom was out of character - a combo of too-young-speak and incongruous pseudo=dirty-talk.

I haven't really read any other reviews, but I am wondering if anyone else felt the connection between this book and my all time favorite CR, Mr. Perfect. . Anyway, I'll read the next one, because, well, why not, but these Sugarland books just don't have the charm, heat, or compelling characters as the Station 5 books did.

While In His Sights is the third in a series, it didn’t need the preface of the first two books to make it readable. The only way I could really tell this was a series was the presence of blissful couples who had all the insights on happy relationships.

I had a hard time getting into these characters. Robyn is yet another perfect woman. She is beautiful with nary a stretch mark. Not a blemish or deficiency was to be found. And everyone loves her. She also has the perfect daughter who never gets into trouble, never says anything embarrassing and never has scratched knees.

Chris was a bit more realistic but not by much. At the beginning of the book he is recovering from a recent auto accident (which must have been in the previous book). As the story continues, he is suffering from a mystifying ailment that has him keeling over on a regular basis. On the not-so-real end of the spectrum, Chris is another of those beautiful people who is perfect in every way.

I much prefer to read about people that I might meet in real life. The characters that reflect the one-percent of our population just don’t interest me. I find these types of characters false and they leave a bad taste in my mouth. I like realism – characters with flaws and marks, characters who can be bitchy or snarky or say the wrong thing.

There was a lot of extraneous information in the book that just didn’t need to be there. Do I really need to know that Chris’ sandwich had tomato, lettuce and mayonnaise? No. There was no value added to the story, only word count. These are the things that bother me when I’m reading a book. I want pertinent details, not fluff.

Overall this was an okay book but just not my type of read. I’m sure others will disagree and find it delightful but I have a hard time getting past characters I have nothing in common with. What it comes down to is reading style. It’s not mine but it might be yours.

Jo Davis has not disappointed me yet. In His Sights is another great addition to the Sugarland Blue Series. It had a good murder mystery, suspense and a sweet dose of romance.

Chris and Robyn have a very adult relationship. Obviously, they are older and they both know exactly what they want. I enjoyed their story; it was honest and straight to the point. Their issues, as far as their relationship, were all valid, and the way they dealt with them were never overdone and it was with very little angst. The mystery and suspense were light and enjoyable.  Davis added a Psycho theme to this novel that I never saw coming. And as many times as I’ve watched that movie, it never fails to creep me out. With that said, there was a scene here that was totally creepy, but fitting to the story.

Ms. Davis, of course, gives her readers a taste of her Firefighters of Station Five. A few of the fireman at Station Five as well as the men at Sugarland P.D. attended a party together. It was kind of awesome to see the two series merge like that.  There were a few updates on the characters from the previous books.  One that surprised me was about Drew, Kayne’s Godson.  Wow, I didn’t see that coming.  But as I said from my Hot Pursuit review, I have a feeling he will get his story told someday.  I can't wait to read more of the Sugarland Blue series.

I first became addicted to Jo Davis’s writing style with her original romance suspense series, The Firefighters of Station Five. She continues to feed that addiction with the spin-off series, Sugarland Blue.

Ms. Davis keeps thing fresh and enticing with the romance that develops between Chris and Robyn. They fit together perfectly; the author gave their courtship just the right mix of passion and desire. As far as the suspense element, it blended seamlessly into the overall story – always nearby yet never dominating.

I applaud the authors handling of a working single mother reentering the dating world. She realistically addresses issues that often get ignored/overlooked. Plus Chris in the fatherly role is swoon material.

This author has something for each romance reader.
Looking for a sexy romance trilogy, then I recommend Torn Between Two Lovers.
Is paranormal romance more your style then I recommend her alter-egos Alpha Pack series?

This book was an intriguing murder mystery, tender love story and fascinating psychological drama all rolled into one satisfying package.
This is the third in the author’s Sugarland Blue series, an offshoot of her Firefighters of Station Five series, and we get to revisit some of the characters from both series. These books are well written, with interesting characters, a complex plot, and some hot sex scenes.
Chris Ford, a detective with the Sugarland, Tennessee, Police Department is playing the field while looking for the one woman for him. He believes he finds her in Dr. Robyn Lassiter, a physician who works in the emergency room of the local hospital. But Robyn has her own baggage, including an adorable six year old little girl, Maddy, who captivates Chris almost as much as her mother does.
As these two find their way into a relationship, sinister forces are work in the community, with a serial killer on the loose. And Chris is directly in his sights.
My only complaint is that Chris is too perfect. The way he deals with Robyn and handles Maddy is flawless. He appears well adjusted in spite of a crappy childhood and he’s sexy to boot. I’d have been happier with a flaw or two.
Robyn comes with flaws, but she’s a smart, strong woman, who deals well with single motherhood and is key to discovering that there is a killer on the loose.
Overall, a finely crafted, well written romance by a talented author.

The Hot Bunch is back… I love that both Sugarland Blue and Firefighters of Station 5 are so intermixed. We get double the pleasure of Firemen and Police officers.

The mystery of why police detective Chris Ford has been so ill from the previous book comes front and center as he and his partner Tonio Salvatore are assigned to investigate a weird set of break in of homes that also seem to tie into a rash of heart attack deaths from people who didn’t suffer any heart problems. This also introduces us to Dr. Robyn Lassiter who has questions herself about the deaths of seemingly healthy people dying in her ER.

The author keeps the story moving at a quick pace between the mystery and the romance between Chris and Robyn. Many characters from the Firefighters series make an appearance and there is even a tragedy for one of them.

I’ve always enjoyed Jo Davis stories and this latest was no exception. Looking forward to Tonio Salvatore’s story next – he’s as hunky as his brother Julian is..

REVIEW:
I enjoyed this novel and how Ms. Davis wove the hot romance in with the mysterious threat surrounding them. It was also refreshing to see two destined lovers open to the possibilities and not fighting the attraction with every breath. They made a great couple and did I mention their romance was hot? All the characters are believable and it’s clear they share a closeness and comradery that is common among emergency personnel. All in all, a very fun read that kept me guessing until the end. I’m looking forward to the next visit to Sugarland Blue and the hot guys that work there.

Jo Davis takes readers back to Sugarland in the third book in her Sugarland Blue series, In His Sights. Davis is well known for her stories about firemen and policemen and dabbles in the paranormal as her alter-ego J.D. Tyler. Readers who are looking for a story about the every lives of service men and women will love this series. Davis has a knack for understanding what it takes to serve in this kind of career and the ups and downs it can cause in family life. In His Sights is a wild ride both in the romance and suspense departments. An excellent addition to this intriguing series!

What I liked:

Like most women, I like a man in uniform. There is just something about the people that serve and protect, whether it be a firefighter a police officer and even the doctor's that we depend on to keep us healthy. It takes a certain kind of person to be able to serve in those kinds of careers. They are often dangerous. They often require long hours and hard work. They take time away from family and friends. It is ultimately a commitment to serve their communities. And in my book that is the definition of a hero. Jo Davis knows how to write about heroes. She started out with firefighters and now brings readers the Sugarland Blue series, focused on police officers. I think she does a fantastic job of feeling that pulse that beats just a little bit differently in these kinds of characters. She knows what makes them tick and what drives them and she writes about it flawlessly. In His Sights is a book not just a book about a cop who is about to fall victim to something potentially deadly. It's a story about an everyday hero and I really liked that.

Not only is Chris a great cop. But he's an all around great guy. He may have had a bit of a reputation for getting around in the beginning of the book, but when he finds the right woman all that goes out the window. He knows what he wants and what it will take to get it and more importantly keep it. I liked his commitment to his job and finding out what was going on and causing these unexplained deaths. Even when he was feeling the effects himself, he still kept driving ahead. Determination.

Robyn was a great character as well. As I said before, doctors, nurses and people in the health field also gain a lot of my respect. It takes a lot of drive to work the kinds of schedules they do and to see the kinds of things they have to see. I loved the fact that Robyn was inquisitive. She knew something was up and once she teamed up with Chris was instrumental in figuring it all out. She was also a great mom, another one of those unsung heroes. I loved the way she protected her daughter and thought about what was important to her life, as well as, her own. Selflessness.

One of my favorite parts of this book wasn't the sizzling romance believe it or not. It was the interactions between not only Chris and Robyn but Chris with Robyn's daughter. A real man understands that he can never take the place of child's father and I loved the fact that Davis made Chris a real man. He wanted not only Robyn but the family that they would have together. It was heart felt and totally believable.

What I didn't like:

I liked the whole thing. I think Davis was pretty spot on in both the suspense and romance aspects of the book.

Bottom Line:

The romance was hot and steamy and the suspense was fast paced and creepy as all get out. I mean, these bad guys were twisted. I loved the way that Davis ties everything together. There was great balance in the story and more importantly there was a wonderful sense of accomplishment. They did something right and it felt good and the reader is sure to feel it as well.

Good thing I was in the mood for a light, breezy romance with a little bit of mystery and murder thrown into the mix, because that's exactly what you get with Jo Davis's newest release. While not the most intense or emotional read, Jo Davis gives us some endearing characters who have to solve a mystery that's turned far deadlier than they had ever imagined.

Chris is normally at the top of his game as a detective for the Sugarland PD, but lately he just can't seem to shake an illness that has been leaving him weak and fatigued. No matter how sick he's feeling, though, Chris isn't letting anything stopping him from doing his job, which involves tracking down who's been breaking into homes all around town over the past several months. But when Chris meets Dr. Robyn Lassiter, nothing can take his mind off of the beautiful and intelligent woman. With a rocky past of her own and an adorable daughter who's her world, Robyn isn't sure she's ready to let a man back in her life. With Chris, though, she finds it easier and easier to let her guard down and really fall for him. When a mysterious link between deathly illnesses pops up at the hospital and claims Chris as its latest victim, Robyn works with Chris to find the culprit before she risks having her heart crushed all over again.

Like I said, this was a very light and easy romance. I flew through the pages and thought that Robyn and Chris had very sweet relationship. While I think that their attraction might have happened too quickly in an "oh my gosh, she was the most beautiful creature ever" sort of way, I think they were a perfect fit for each other. I loved how easily Chris fit into Robyn's life and accepted her daughter Maddy. I think Maddy's character was very cute and really made Chris decide if he wanted a real life with Robyn and her daughter instead of the bachelor life he's been living. Robyn, on the other hand, knows what it's like to have a rocky relationship and have her heart broken, so Chris definitely has to prove he's worthy before she even comes close to letting him into her and her daughter's lives.

Along with the romance, the mystery behind the illnesses and break-ins going on around town definitely added a level of intrigue and suspense to the novel. Who was behind the break-ins? Why were so many seemingly healthy people dying? Early on, we get a small passage from the viewpoint of the killer, so we know some seriously shady business is going on, we just have no idea who it is or why they're doing it. When Chris's illness gets worse and worse, his relationship with Robyn is put to the test and they're forced to realize how much they really care about each other. I enjoyed how they had to work together with their different backgrounds and both brought something to the table when they were solving the mystery. Robyn is a very intelligent person and was definitely never a damsel in distress in the relationship, which is refreshing in a romance novel with a detective as the male lead, a normally dominating character role. Chris and Robyn balanced each other out and had more than their relationship to deal with in this novel, which only brought them closer together.

Overall, I really enjoyed Jo Davis's latest Sugarland Blue novel. It is definitely a lighter read, but I enjoyed the simplicity of the relationship and the added suspense to the story. With a hot detective chasing a murderer while falling for an intelligent woman with an adorable daughter, In His Sights is a fun romantic suspense you won't be able to put down once you start.

Our Review, by LITERAL ADDICTION's Vivacious Valkyrie - Marta:

--Actual rating 4.5 Skulls

This is the third book in the Sugarland Blue series that features the detectives working in the Sugarland police department . This is a romantic suspense series that features strong men and women who will do whatever it takes to uphold the law but always find time for their loved ones. Prepare to read about mysterious deaths and an insane revenge whilst this fast paced story pulls you in and doesn't let go until the very last page. Gritty and full of emotion this series just keeps getting better with each installment.

In Sugarland Detective Chris Ford is always seen as a bit of a player with an eye for the ladies but seemingly no intention of ever settling down . When he keeps feeling weak and ill he shrugs it off but when his symptoms put him in the path of the lovely Dr Robyn Lassiter his blood pressure rises and it's not just because he's sick! Forced to admit that his mysterious symptoms might be serious Chris wants more than ever to find a cure but he's determined to be around to get to know Robyn better.

Robyn moved to Sugarland with her daughter after the death of her husband. She has thrown herself into her work and can't help but notice that deaths keep occurring that seem oddly similar. When the sexy Detective Chris Ford starts to show the same symptoms her fear starts to rise as it's looking more and more as if someone is poisoning people. There's a connection somewhere but finding it will test all their inner strength as it looks as if time is running out for Chris!

Oh this was a great story and if you normally enjoy the likes of Karen Rose or Karin Slaughter then this book will be right up your street. A fast paced story full of twists and a mystery to solve. It's a truly diabolical plan that the perpetrator has and innocent people are dying because of it. I think what makes it feel worse is the fact that it has taken so long for anyone to realise what's happening and for many the truth is revealed far too late.

Add to all this the human element with a romance that just feels so right and it's a great read. Chris may seem to many to have it all but meeting Robyn shows him just how much he is missing. He is quite a surprise as he jumps head first into the idea of a relationship with the lovely doctor and indeed it's Robyn who seems cautious. It's understandable that as a mother she wouldn't want to push things too quickly but his pursuit of her is lovely to read. Romantic picnics and flowers plus of course hot sex all work together to work their magic though and it's a beautiful thing as this family comes together.

Jo Davis has managed to write a sexy story filled with danger and a cracking ending that will have readers on the edge of their seat. It's a wild ride but there's a heartwarming scene that will leave you truly emotional as Chris finally gets what he had in his sights!

Ms Davis also writes smoking hot stories under the name J D Tyler too and I thoroughly recommend those if you enjoy a paranormal romance.

I"m not sure what to do with this series. While I loved the previous series - Firefighters of Station 5 - this one is different and not in way I appreciate. The story in this one was nice, the romance sweet, there's a bit of action but less than in the first two installments. But there was something missing or rather I felt as though even with their problems Chris and Robyn were too perfect. It's not that I need angst, it's more like it's strange when there isn't any.. also the villain was deranged in a way I find it hard to believe no one spotted...

There is very little I have to say about this one.. I WAS really interested in knowing what made Chris ill, and I gotta say the method of how he was harmed was VERY original, I haven't heard of anything like it! But I was a bit put off with how crazy the villain was.. I should say the villain was easy to spot...

The romance between Chris and Robyn was perfect. Yeah she took her time before she opened her heart to him, but besides that, it was TOO perfect, especially the way Chris connected with her daughter Maddy which felt a bit OTT. Yeah I get that Chris wanted to settle down and that he loves kids but it was unrealistic how he played and generally reacted to Maddy sometimes before he got around to being with Robyn. I don't know how it is to be a single mom, and I get that Robyn was worried about finding someone in general and especially that would be a good father to Maddy but on the second date asking Chris "what about Maddy?" was REALLY strange. Chris was naturally very sweet about it, saying that Maddy is always welcome but he thinks it's better for the second date to be just them.. well, YEAH!

In general I don't like books with kids and somehow this one as well as the two previous installments have the parenting issue in a very pronounced way.. first with Drew the teenager Shane takes to his care after his father dies, then we have Blake - a 20 year old Cara and Taylor takes into their care (even though he isn't a kid.. or even a teenager.. he needs parenting), now we have the 7 years old Maddy. WHY oh why do we need the "kids" in the picture? For me, romantic suspense should be about the action and the coupling not about forming a family (in about a month time..). Besides it being unrealistic it's NOT what I signed for..

The only light in the end of the tunnel is a hint of a relationship for Blake. I like that specifically because he is gay and I felt as though the issue of him finding someone was dismissed way too many times.

I don't think I'll continue on reading this series. It's not what I want it to be.. There's too much emphasis on family, and too little about "realistic" romance not to mention not enough action (even though it's not what I'm usually after, this is what I expect this series to be..).

Personally - Disappointed. Yet you might not be - If you enjoyed the previous two you'll probably enjoy this one as well.

*Beware of possible Spoilers*

Dr. Robyn Lassiter had her heart broken when her depressed husband committed suicide and left her and their daughter, Maddy, to fend for themselves. She was left with nothing, but a mountain of debt. She moved to Sugarland, Tennessee to start over. She has a job at the local hospital as one of the ER doctors and has made friends. But the one thing she hasn’t done is trust her heart to another man. But all of that is about to change when police detective Chris Ford enters her life.

Chris didn’t have a good childhood and he hopes to one day have a family where he can show his wife and kids the wonderful things he never experienced as a child. But the right girl has never come along, but a warm body to share his bed with is never far away. He looks at the great relationships of those around him, and can’t help, but feel a bit jealous. When will it finally be his turn at a life of happiness and love?

There have been a rash of burglaries that Chris and his partner, Tonio, have been investigating. The strange thing is … nothing has been taken! Things are just moved slightly out of place, but nothing more. It’s up to Tonio and Chris to find out exactly what this burglar is after!

Chris is on the mend after wrecking a car while on a police chase. But something is still plaguing him. He seems to be getting weaker and weaker. He’s starting to wonder if he will ever recover. And once he meets Robyn he discovers that there are several suspicious deaths coming into the ER. They appear to be heart attacks, but now Robyn isn’t so sure. And the scariest thing of all?? These people are coming in with the same symptoms that Chris is experiencing!! It’s a race against the clock to figure out exactly what’s going on and reverse the damage before it’s too late for Chris!

This is the first Sugarland Blue novel that I have read. I was easily able to pick up the storyline at book 3 as this novel reads well as a stand-alone. I was pulled in rather quickly and really enjoyed ‘watching’ the relationship between Chris and Robyn (and Maddy) develop. Although at times it seemed a little too perfect and unrealistic. For example, what are the odds of her loving ‘American muscle cars’ just as much as him? But those moments weren’t enough to ruin my enjoyment of the book.

Chris was a good guy, a bit too perfect at times, and I really enjoyed my peek into his life. Robyn and he were a good fit and definitely had some steamy chemistry going on!

The ending of this book was chock full of excitement, although it was easily predictable, I still enjoyed it greatly. This was a decent story and I look forward to continuing this series in the future.

In His Sights is the third book in the Sugarland Blues series by Jo Davis. It can be read as a stand alone novel or in series order.

This series is one of the best romantic suspense series I have read. Jo Davis creates strong, passionate characters that will do whatever it takes to uphold the law, solve the case, and serve justice. She adds the right amount of high octane action and a sensual romance that will have the readers fanning themselves. The plot is well delivered and keeps the readers on the edge of their seats.

Sugarland Detective Chris Ford has recovered from his injuries he sustained during a previous case. He’s ready to get back to work and back to his normal daily activities, including his activities with the ladies. The only problem is he seems to be suffering from some kind of illness that is affecting his return to normalcy. He doesn’t seem to be getting better. His symptoms are getting worse and are becoming more debilitating.

Dr. Robyn Lassiter moved to Sugarland with her daughter after the death of her husband. She has thrown herself into her work and raising her daughter. After noticing similar symptoms causing the deaths in several patients, she has become suspicious. When Chris Ford starts displaying the same kind of symptoms that caused the deaths of other patients, she is determined to find the connection. It is looking more like someone is poisoning people. Together the two will have to find out if it is random or connected. They will have to find the source of the poison as well as the source behind it.

The attraction between the two just escalates both their blood pressure. Chris will use all his determination and skill that he uses on the job to convince Robyn she needs more than her work and daughter in her life. The chemistry between these two is combustible.

In His Sights is a story packed full of suspense and danger. The ending will have the readers on the edge of their seats. This life threatening, passionate case will be solved with a heartwarming ending that is exactly what Chris had In His Sights.

Jo Davis delivered another fantastic book. She is the queen of romantic suspense and erotic romance. I highly recommend In His Sights and The Sugarland Blues series.

In His Sights by Jo Davis is the 3rd novel in her Sugarland Blue series. I looked forward to reading this book, as I really enjoyed the first two books in this series. Chris Ford is our hero, and he is a detective on the Sugarland police force. Chris has only been in Sugarland for a few months, having moved there to be near his cousin Shane (also a detective, and one of our heroes in the earlier books). Chris has just about recovered from an injury on the job, but he tries to hide from others that he is feeling seriously under the weather. He pushes himself back to work

Dr. Robyn Lassiter is our heroine, and as she is walking with her young daughter, Maddy, she comes across Chris, who was approached by Maddy as looking sickly. Robyn tries to help, but Chris perks up when he sees her, and soon he will go all out to win over the beautiful doctor and her precious daughter.

While a romance is about to begin, a mystery develops that starts with Robyn at the hospital losing a patient to a heart attack. She becomes suspicious with the recent similar deaths that have been happening. She enlists the aid of the medical examiner to check into the symptoms of the deceased. While this will take time, poor Chris is unknowingly the next victim of a serial killer.

The romance between Chris and Robyn was very sweet and sensual. Chris knew he was falling hard for Robyn, and Maddy. He was not only hot, but so so sweet to both of them….a perfect match. The only issue was Robyn was hesitant to become involved in a relationship, having lost her husband a few years ago, and she did not want to get hurt again. But love will prevail, if Chris will survive the serial killer.

Both Robyn and Chris begin to suspect something might be very wrong in his house, since when he stayed over at Robyn’s ( yes very sexy nights), he would feel so much better.

As the mystery deepens, the danger escalates and the fierce breathtaking ride to the climatic ending made it impossible to put this book down. In His Sights is another wonderful story that was romance suspense at its best. In the middle of this suspenseful intense mystery, the romance was great, as I loved both Chris and Robyn. Jo Davis does it again with a fantastic addition to this fabulous series. If you love romance, mystery, suspense and a wonderful couple, then look no further than In His Sights.

I never get how I can get behind on those authors that I really like, but I do. I've been a fan of Jo Davis since she started writing. I loved her Firefighters of Station Five and her Shado Agency books. I'm now loving her Sugarland Blue series.

In Hot Pursuit you start to see that something isn't peachy-keen with Chris. You get right away that it's setting up for his book and really want to know what's going on.

I'm so glad that Chris held up in his book. I really hate when you like a supporting character and then when it's their book, they fail to engage you. From the second I started In his Sights I couldn't put it down. I just loved it.

I think out of the whole series so far it's my favorite. I know, I say this a lot when I find a book I like and then the next thing you know I'll be telling you that I love On The Run, the next book in the series, and it's my favorite.

I also like Robyn and her daughter, Maddy. It does seem that Chris fell for Robyn very quickly, but I got over that as I read more and more of the story. They worked together and you felt that right away.

I even enjoyed the mystery, that didn't overshadow the romance (which I like) you were kept in the dark with only a few hints (I did figure it out pretty quick).

One of the best and worse part of the story is that the firemen from station five visited in the book. Here's the worse part, Clay is hurt and you really don't know what's going to happen to him. I hope we learn more in On The Run.

Another part that really bugged me and kept pulling me out of the story was that she never once mentioned that Maddy, Robyn's seven year old daughter was put in the car without a car seat, repeatedly. Now maybe I missed it and in that case I'm sorry but....I don't think so.

As a whole, this is a very good story that has made me want to keep reading the series. Who knows, maybe you'll see another of her books on my Damn...too many books! post.

In His Sights is a fun, entertaining romance with suspense and mystery. This is part of a series of books that take place in Sugarland, Tennessee featuring both police officers and paramedics living and loving in the community. I like how there are many characters that are either related or know each other; it makes for a series that feels very connected.

Robyn Lassiter is an emergency room doctor in Sugarland, Tennessee. She is overcoming heartache from her husband’s death several years ago while keeping a busy work schedule and taking care of their daughter, Maddie.

Christian Ford works for the Sugarland police as a cop, he moved here about six months ago to be near his cousin Shane. Since he moved here, he has been fighting health problems, and to top it off was in a car accident. He tries to keep his weakness to himself but his new partner and boss see through him and vow to watch him before he keels over.

It is amazing that both Robyn and Chris have not met yet as they have several mutual friends, and when they do finally meet, when he is about to drop after walking down her street, there is an immediate attraction that neither can deny. He has always been looking for the one, and apparently subconsciously also a family as he bonds with Maddie and they become fast friends. When his sickness, some mysterious burglaries and heart attack deaths become too much of a coincidence they must work fast before someone else is killed.

This is an enjoyable romantic suspense that is not too disturbing. The characters are engaging and I like the camaraderie and friendships they share throughout. This is the third book in the Sugarland Blue series with characters from the other books frequently appearing in the scenes, and the author does a great job of keeping you in the loop so you will not feel lost and it can easily be read as a standalone.

In “In His Sights” we get to learn more about Chris Ford. Chris is finally recovered from injuries he sustained while helping a fellow officer. Now he is ready to take back his life. Only problem is that he is plagued with some kind of illness. An illness that just seems to only getting worse.

With a string of deaths in seemingly healthy people Dr. Lassiter thinks something strange is happening. But first she needs to prove that the deaths are in fact not natural. But when Chris is admitted to the hospital with the same symptoms Robyn is convinced that this is no normal illness. But the question is will they figure it out before anymore victims turn up?
In His Sights is book 3 in Sugarland Blues series and another great story from Ms. Davis. Chris & Robyn are both great characters. Chris is a great cop that doesn’t know the meaning of stop both at his job or in his personal life. Robyn on the other hand has no desire to do anything more than take care of herself and her daughter. But thankfully Chris blows that notion right out of the water.
If you have enjoyed the prior Sugarland Blues books you will enjoy Chris & Robyn’s book. If you are new to the Sugarland Blues Series no fear you can read In His Sights and not be lost, although I would suggest reading the series from book one (mostly because I don’t like reading books out of order :D )

In His Sights, the newest Sugarland Blue novel by Jo Davis, is a very sexy, romantic mystery. Chris Ford, a sexy, single detective in the Sugarland PD, was suffering from a mysterious, reoccurring illness that was starting to effect his ability to do his job. At the same time, pretty, single mom Dr. Robyn Lassiter, who worked in the emergency department of the local hospital, was seeing a distinct increase in the numbers of patients coming to the emergency room with the same unexplained symptoms.
When Chris and Robyn met, there were immediate sparks between them, even though Chris wasn’t sure he was ready to commit to anyone, let alone a single mom. Robyn had her own demons to work through, and she was equally unsure of starting a romance with Chris. What they were sure of, however, is that they wanted to work together to find out why so many people, including Chris, were becoming ill.
I wasn’t sure I was going to like Chris in the first chapter since he woke up in bed with someone whose name he didn’t even know, but his real personality emerged when he met Amber. Robyn was a strong, intelligent woman, whose world revolved around her seven year old daughter as well as her job. She was very easy to like. All of the characters were well written and their actions and reactions were true to life.
In His Sights is a compelling novel that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a steamy romance with a strong plot and a good mystery. Even though it is a part of a series, it is very satisfying as a standalone novel. I had one question remaining at the end, which I won’t divulge here, but all in all, a very good read. I’m giving it four stars.

I can’t wait to read more of the Sugarland Blue series.

Detective Chris Ford has been fighting a mysterious illness. He never seems to completely recover from it. When he attempts to do more than he should he’s rescued by Dr. Robyn Lassiter. Robyn is an ER doctor who has seen more than her fair share of mystery illnesses and death lately. It doesn’t take long before Robyn and Chris realize that a rash of what appears to be common burglaries is anything but. Searching for a serial killer they find that they are also falling in love. But can they figure out who the killer is before he finds a way to kill again?

I have to admit, I’ve been a huge Jo Davis fan since her Station Five novels. I was almost afraid to try the Sugarland Blue series because I loved the others so much. But with In His Sights, Jo Davis has hooked me yet again. In His Sights turns steamy, passionate scenes to dripping with suspense, nothing is missing from this book! Highly recommended for those readers who are looking for a book to draw you in and keep you mesmerized until the end!

Jo Davis provides a great combination of romance and suspense in her latest Sugarland Blue novel, In His Sights. The story follows the relationship of Chris Ford, one of Sugarland Blue’s finest, and Dr. Robyn Lassiter. Chris becomes one of Robyn’s patients, and just the latest victims with a mysterious illness that leaves most of its victims dead.

Jo Davis does not disappoint in this latest story, with Chris and Robyn joining forces to figure out what is causing the people to die and why someone is killing them. Ms. Davis really moved the story along effectively and quickly, with the crime and the reasoning behind it very interesting. It was great to see how Robyn and Chris complimented each other, and his budding relationship with her daughter was just one more thing to love. Added to all of this were secondary characters that enhanced the storyline and helped bolster the relationship between the two.
