Linger takes these questions and presents them in how the Dominant/submissive relation is based... how when everything is done with totally trust... it is an equal exchange... and the key is back to what all love is... total trust in one's partner.
The hook for this book in not the usual set up... strong alpha man and soft submissive woman... this is a tale of a woman clear in her kink... the need to Dominant. It could be a combination of her life in Foster care and need for control... but she really just feels this is her way of expressing what she needs. She has been trained by the best and she is at the club to enjoy a scene before leaving for her veterinarian internship with a Dr. who works with large animals. She will be going to Montana for a year and this is her last experience before leaving.
As she enters the club she stumbles and is stopped from falling by a wall of man... muscular... intense eyes and solid. He is polite but so piercing in his stare... something is exchanged by the two of them in that moment. They break apart... going their separate ways ... with both of them thinking about the meeting.
As she goes out to the main part of the club. she can't help looking to see where the man went... she finds him and is stunned when she sees he is wearing leather cuffs with rings on them.... indicating he is a submissive. Her friend who trained her as a Dominant sees her eying this fella and warns her... he is a hand full... he tries to manipulate in order for none of the Doms to break him.... With the warning heeded, she still approaches him.
He is at the club to let off the pressure and stress he has ... he holds everything in... under control until he can't... coming to his friend's club for a safe haven... to allow himself to release some of the pressure... but never allowing anyone to break him down... that will never happen.
These two can not stay away from each other... they have a night and what takes place is eye opening for the both of them. She touches things in him he has never allowed... and for her... it was an experience which connected deeper... and she is a little sad she is leaving town and will never see him again...
But... she does... he is her supervisor of her internship in Montana- yup... she is living in this man's house and supposed to work for him.
Will either of them be able to function as professionals... and what happens with the intense feelings they have for each other... and if they do pursue a relationship... will he open up to her totally and become the submissive he wants to be but fights every step of the way....
This is a serious love story which just happens to use the BDSM community and ways to explore how we love... because real love for one another is based in trust... without it... you are hedging your bets...
The story is graphic and it is not the usual. Our gal is extremely strong... she has goals and heart. I liked her; he was all alpha but at the same time wanted to turn over his control ... to just let go... but due to his life experiences... the demons caused him to fight his needs.
As I mentioned on my update... I thought this was a western Montana romance to read... What I got was so much more... yet strip away all of the specifics of BDSM... it all comes down to loving one another and being free to give, receive and share fully...

I didn't like to read about a male submissive before! But this one is different, she is not your typical Domme and he certainly a real Alpha Male, even thought he totally submit to her in the bedroom hah!

Right from the start, Linger is a pretty easy read, so I didn't expect it to have such a mature view on the BDSM lifestyle. Many of the stories in this subgenre rely on swanky clubs and a rigid set of rules on which to base their content; take the story outside of the club, take away the fancy equipment, take away the unending rules, and the relationship between the characters falls flat. Linger isn't like that. It is a celebration of open Montana skies and a love that can overcome even the most traumatic memories.
Author Lauren Jameson has crafted these characters with layers of confidence, doubt, realistic expectations, and fragile hopes and dreams, so that when they interact, it is on a personal level and always progresses their very organic-feeling connection. The emotion in Linger shimmers just below the surface for most of the book, the manifestation of a heart-rending story just waiting to burst free.
Something else I really enjoyed about the story is the unexpected depth of the characters - both of them. Logan is truly an alpha male, a former soldier-turned-veterinarian who only submits in the bedroom. Scarlett is a newly minted Domme who understands that all people have different needs and it's her job give her sub what he needs rather than what he stubbornly insists he wants, even when that delivery is emotionally or physically painful for her. She's commanding without being a bitch and calmly holds control without seeming overbearing. The perfect combination.
Linger may not be glossy and posh and sophisticated, but it has a whole lotta heart. I believe even readers who aren't into BDSM can get lost in this couple; incorporating kink into your everyday routine is as unique and individual as the people practicing it, and those with an affinity towards the lifestyle should enjoy the nuances of the connection between Logan and Scarlett.

I don't usually go for books with female Dommes, but this is a Lauren Jameson book, so clearly all my preferences go out of the door and I read it anyways. Almost the entire time my brain was telling me I wasn't going to like it, yet I couldn't put it down and I was utterly addicted to Logan and Scarlett's story. Only you, Lauren Jameson, only you could make me love a female Domme story :)
This is easily the best thing Lauren Jameson has written that I've read so far. Everything rang so true, and it was just solid. Beginning to End.
It was a rather interesting reading experience. I couldn't help but to love Scarlett and Logan the entire time, but the whole female Domme / male sub relationship is so not my thing.
Scarlett is fiesty as they come. I loved the push-pull dynamic between her and Logan. It's constantly there under the surface, and it totally drives the story. There were moments where she was almost a bit too much - she needed assert her dominance to a point where I felt it was almost a fault. I also loved Logan - he's the tortured alpha male, yet he plays his part a little differently from most of the stereotypes out there.
Both main characters love for animals was wonderful, and Scarlett's past as a dancer drew me in. That was once aspect of Scarlett that I wish had been explored a bit more - while readers get an explanation for why she didn't pursue a career about it, I would've liked to hear more about her experience with dance and why it made her tick.
Luca, the third part of the team who heads up In Vino Veritas, plays a role in this one and I can't help but to wonder if we might get his story next.

All that Scarlett wanted was to perfect her vet skills and open a hospital. She also knew that for her do do that she needed more experience in all kinds of a inlays so she got an internship on a farm. She moved from Vegas to Montana for a year long internship. But she didn't think she would find a submissive for herself as well.
Logan was completely afraid to let everyone into his personal life. He went to Vegas once or twice a year to fulfill his need as a sub. But meeting one woman has changed him forever. If he could let her into every part of him he would be the happiest man alive.
This author is amazing. It is a must read book.

It's not often that I want to read a book about a Domme with a male submissive, but I'm glad that I read this book. From the very beginning, Lauren takes you on a wonderful, heartfelt, and often intense journey as one man learns to accept this his submission is a true gift for one particular female. From the very first moment the two main characters meet, there is intense chemistry that continues to build throughout the entire story. I haven't read the other books in the series, but I'm definitely looking forward to delving more into the world of In Vino Veritas!

This was AMAZING!!!! I received an ARC from Lauren and read it because Lauren sent it, not because I would have picked it out. BOY DID SHE CHANGE MY MIND!!! This is a MUST READ for anyone who enjoys a good romance. The characters are wonderful. She develops them until they are friends, not just a book. I couldn't put this book down until I had reached the end!

When I first started reading this book I didn’t know that it was a part of a series. When I found out it really didn’t matter because we didn’t see any of the previous couples…I don’t think. I’m not really sure, it’ a guess. The book was a great introduction to this author and her writing even if I began in the middle.
Scarlett Malone is a dominant. She goes to her favorite sex club one last time before she moves to the middle of nowhere Montana. When she gets there she feel an immediate attraction to an Alpha cowboy. She tried to forget him because there is no way he can be a submissive. This was the first book I have read about a female dominant. It’s not really my things but I enjoyed this book anyway.
Logan Brody is a vet in Montana he craves the open space. He has been through some serious things and it makes he crave to be alone. He has tried to bury his submissive tendencies until he can’t anymore. For a night or two he gives in and goes to a sex club in Vegas. He finally meets his match when he meets Mistress S. She gets past the walls that he doesn’t let any mistress past.
What Scarlett doesn’t know is that Logan, the submissive cowboy, is actually her new boss in Montana. Now they have to maneuver a situation where Logan in Dominant outside of the bedroom but the submissive in the bedroom.
The story focused on the steamy side of things obviously but there was so much more to the story. Logan had a lot of baggage that he wasn’t dealing with or letting anyone else help him with. Scarlett uses those steamy moments to show him that it’s ok to let someone take care of him. The connection they felt that first second is worth fighting for and Scarlett is going to have to fight hard enough for the both of them.
I would recommend this to any readers of erotica or BDSM romances.

Whew! This scorching tale kept me up reading late into the night as the story of Logan and Scarlett unfolded. Logan is a cowboy, a solitary man who lives alone on his Montana ranch. He ventures into the city periodically to tend to his submissive desires and there meets Scarlett, a Domme at the club he attends who is drawn to his alpha male personality. They share one night of passion with no expectations for more - until Scarlett ends up as a vet trainee on his ranch and alone with him in his domain. Can what they started between them become something more?
This was a really interesting, well put together BDSM romance. Logan comes across as a strong, handsome, dominant man - except in the bedroom where he longs to let his control go. He suffers from PTSD which causes him anxiety when he's in crowds of people and doesn't expect any woman to want to be with him out on his ranch away from big city life. Scarlett is equally strong, only in all aspects of her life, including with her sexual partners where she is the one in control. I did find that her age of 24 seemed a bit young for the calm control that she exudes but I liked her ability to take charge of Logan and lead him in the dance of dominance and submission. There were a few scenes in this story that pushed the boundaries of my comfort zone (I think I would classify myself as a fan of BDSM light) but they were key to the story and the plot. The sexual chemistry between them sizzled and the sex scenes well written and emotional.
The secondary characters introduced were a key part of the plot and added to the dynamics and tension of the story. The setting, whether the club scene or the ranch was well described. The overall story was a sexy, riveting, emotional and entertaining read. If you like your romance with some kink on the side, this will not disappoint! 4 stars!

He suffers from PTSD which causes him anxiety when he's in crowds of people and doesn't expect any woman to want to be with him out on his ranch away from big city life. Can I just say, nom nom nom and leave it at that? No? Well, shit. Ok, I love this book. It’s not perfect, but it’s pretty close. It’s not very often I find a book about a Domme/Mistress that isn’t completely hokey or it turns out she secretly wants to submit (gah!) or she is a bitch strutting around on stilettos. Scarlett is likeable which is a plus. Logan is a bit too bratty for me, but he has issues, so I let it slide. I love a big brawny guy who submits. It’s such a turn on, but what else is great about this book is the emotional turmoil and how Scarlett doesn’t give up on Logan. It’s put a little bit too simplistically and the time it takes for her to break down his walls is ridiculously short compared to how long he’s been carrying the burden, but I still enjoyed it immensely. This new-to-me author has me hooked. Can she provide more along these lines? I’ll have to see.

Linger by Lauren Jameson was so good. I needed time to just bask in how much I loved the book and wanted to read it again.
Scarlett and Logan are so great today. They filled each other's needs perfectly and we're practically made for the other.
Scarlett is a dominant, not seasoned, but she knows what she wants and handles herself well. Logan, is an experienced submissive, who goes to In Vino Veritas to give up control every once in a while. It's the last night in the city for both of them when they meet in the club. Right off the bat, once Scarlett sees Logan, and with encouragement from her friend Luca, decides she wants to be with him for the evening.
However, Logan doesn't make it easier on her. He's purposely obstinate and though he pushes back instead of being flat out submissive to her, Scar doesn't loose her cool and then all the fun begins between these intriguing characters.
They challenge each other and push the other. I love how Scarlett is able to help Logan and have him open up more throughout the novel. Once they are in Montana, and find themselves working together on Logan's farm, the story moves along and we get to see the characters grow in their relationship. This novel is definitely character driven. The sex/play scenes between Scarlett and Logan are hot, but what was really great was seeing the emotion especially when Logan opens up about his time as a soldier especially at the end.
Overall, Linger was a great book that I am absolutely putting on my must read again list. It's a book not to be missed.

Linger is my first book to read by Lauren Jameson. I found it to be very well written and provides an extremely detailed depiction of the lifestyle which is the basis of the story. She does an excellent job of portraying the roles and the psyche's of the two main characters, Logan Brody and Scarlett Malone.
The story begins with Scarlett having one last night out at her favorite sex club before leaving town for the wilds of Montana to begin a year long internship to complete her training as a veterinarian. She literally stumbles into the sexy Logan and neither can believe the immediate pull they feel as he has her in his arms. They pursue the attraction once inside and have a glorious time together, but once their scene is over Scarlett leaves, knowing there can be no tomorrow since she's leaving.
Scarlett and Logan both get the surprise of their lives when the Montana ranch Scarlett reports to is none other than Logan's. Logan being her new boss makes pursuing the feelings they clearly have for one another awkward, but they quickly find a way to work it out. Devising roles for when they are "on the clock" and for when their time together is personal. Of course it gets a little muddled from time to time as immediate needs must be met. Logan has some secrets from his past that complicate the relationship further, but with time it's all worked out and they find their peace in their love for one another.

OH MY GAWD
Let me start this by saying that i have searched for years for a book to follow in the footsteps of natural law by joey hill. In that book, mac Nighthorse is this mouthwatering, sexy as sin alpha in tight jeans... and he is also a submissive. That book, the way that this little sprite violet got him to submit, has stayed in my head for years.
I won linger in a facebook contest. I was excited to see that it was a bdsm book, cause I hard core love maya banks and lexi blake and, of course, joey hill.
And then i started reading it. And my dreams came true. Logan and scarlett are a different couple with different dynamics, but i loved this book every bit as much as natural law. Logan, like mac, is a stubborn, steel willed alpha male, who simply prefers to be brought to his knees in the bedroom. Scarlett, like violet, is younger but a super strong female character. There isn’t any suspense plot line in linger, he focus more on the emotions of the couple, but the book is ultimately as satisfying.
Bottom line, i’m happy dancing because i feel like i got a mac and violet fix, but a new story at the same time. I love love love this book.

I received an ARC for a honest review.
I have never read a story with a female domme before because it usually isn't the type of story I read. But when it comes to reading a Lauren Hawkeye / Lauren Jameson story I have to give it a try because she has never let me down before. This story did not disappoint. Their intense attraction is puzzling to each of them. They both feel it the moment their eyes meet, the heat of their attraction emanated from their skin. They think they have only one night but fate has something else in store from them. He has never let anyone in since a tragedy happened in his past but she made him feel things he hadn't wanted to feel and had made him like it. Scarlett doesn't want to give up on her dreams but will Logan ever let her in. This story is sizzling hot. My first reaction to this book was: Holy smokes! This book is hot! I don’t typically read books with BDSM and trust me when I say that this is NOT the main focus of this book. It was so much more – it was a story about instant attraction; it was a story about two broken souls; it was about meeting your other half.
When reading this story, you can tell Lauren Jameson poured heart and soul into this book. The characters – Logan and Scarlett – really touch you. But boy is this story hot. For me, the description of the characters worked its magic as I could picture them perfectly – Logan’s blue eyes seemed to be right in front of me.
I highly recommend that you read this book – you won’t be sorry.

This is the first book I've read about a female Domme. It isn't my cup of tea or anything I'd grab but it's Lauren Jameson. I found it interesting how she fought to gain control of such a strong Alpha. He's an alpha through a through unless it's in the bedroom. I enjoyed Scarlett and Logan they had an immediate connection and power struggle that was supposed to be a one night only. She was leaving to start an internship and never supposed to see him again until, so she thinks. Imagine showing up at your new job as a vet on a farm in Montana and finding your submissive from your one night. You can guess how it goes from here he's in charge at work and she wants the control in the bed.

I'm not usually into books about female Dommes. Like, at ALL. I picked this up because I'd just discovered that one of my fave writers, Lauren Hawkeye, IS Lauren Jameson. I don't know why there are two pen names, cause they're the same kind of books. Anyway, I wanted to check out all of these books of hers that I hadn't read, and didn't realize it was a Domme until I started reading... and then I was hooked. So even if you think you don't like female Dommes, you should read this. Logan is as sexy as Christian Grey, any day.

It was really refreshing to see a book with a male submissive. I really liked that they both stayed true to their characters throughout, and I would have only liked the drama to peak a little more because at times it fell flat. The bdsm element was great, I just think that the stuff outside of that needed a little more oomph to be a five star read. I’ll definitely be looking for more male sub books now.
