Pink & Patent Leather

Rate this book
Sasha "Pink" Jansen has heard the voice of God. He spoke loud and clear at her purity ceremony, when she was just sixteen years old and Pastor Malik Stroman placed that ring on her finger. And He was just as clear when He told her that purity ring would someday be replaced with a wedding ring from the same man . . . all Pink had to do was save herself. Dreams of a life with Pastor Malik were enough to keep the privileged princess committed to her vow, dodging all kinds of temptation, resisting every romance, and the whole time, keeping her eyes on the prize—the day she would become first lady. There’s just one problem—Pastor Malik already has a wife. But Pink is accustomed to getting what she wants—by any means necessary. With her grace and virtue on the line—and what she thinks is God’s word in her head—Pink is on a mission no one understands. She's determined to show Pastor Malik that they belong together—and come hell or high water, she plans to get the good reverend to agree.

Candy Jackson has penned a page-turning tale of one-woman’s quest for love and the spiraling descent she’ll take to get it.

Sidne aka Reading Rendezvous Reviewz
Pink and Patent Leather by Candy Jackson is a novel about a young girl 16 years of age. Her church is hosting a "Purity" ceremony and she is one of the young teens partaking. When her pastor walks up to her she hears what she says without a shadow of doubt the voice of God saying, "The man of God for you have been chosen". What!! The pastor was to be her husband, she was so excited because Pink already had a teenager infatuation with the handsome pastor. From that day forth, Pink, her nickname, set her plans and sites on molding herself to be the best FIRST LADY of Grace Tabernacle and wife of Pastor Stroman and that included being abstinence until she wed the Pastor. Whats wrong with that beside him being a little older than her. Well Pastor Stroman was a Married Man.

My Review: okay, for the readers that don't mine reading a book based upon Christian virtues but don't want it to be 'preachy'. Here is your book.
Sasha Jansen aka Pink was a very fortunate young girl growing up. Never knowing what it meant to want something and couldnt have it. Always wearing the latest fashion clothing from head to toe. Her family resided in one of the most prestige housing sections in Washington D.C. All Pink knew was success and getting her wife by any means necessary. She works hard to achieve every goal and she plans each precisely. She is CRAZY!!
Author Candy Jackson did a great job with the character development of Sasha. I mean she was very easy to imagine and relate to. The story grabbed me from the beginning to the end. I was talking to Pink like the darn girl was in the car with me. The tone of the story line gives you humor, sympathy, and scattered thoughts. I commend the author for being able to take one subject matter and keeping my interest upon that one focus throughout the book.
Well developed characters: Most liked supporting character for me was Amber. Loved her attitude. The element of surprise was Pastor Stoman.
My reading pace was moderate to moderately fast to flipping pages toward the end. The ending was wonderful and complete ,did not leave me wondering about anyone. I can flip back to the last page and still get that satisfying moment when my eye want to let down a tear. The novel is a great read that didnt need several twist to blend it altogether nor keep you interested. The title and the story line rating 4/5, the book cover, 4/5. Pink and the patent Leather sits on my reading shelf as a Darn Great Read with a 4.5/5 review rating.

OMG!!!! I cannot believe how this book ended. This is the first novel I have read by this author and it is truly a good book. I wanted to jump in the book and tell Pink a couple of things, but I know no one is perfect and they interpret the word of God very differently. Pink should have known that God would never ordained adultery. I really hope there is a sequel to this because I have so many unanswered questions.

I've been waiting to read this book for a long time as it patiently waited on my reading list. Once I started, I couldn't stop reading and when I was forced to stop, I would be thinking about this book until I finally finished. Sasha aka Pink was definitely something else with the dedication and loyalty that was impactful. Pastor Malik proved that even though he was a man of God, he was still just a man. While Xavier left me wondering if that type of love truly exists and does it wait. When the book ended, I was in shock because I needed more. I had so many questions and wanted to know what happened as I felt the conclusion was just the beginning to another story. A story that I need to read as soon as possible! If there is ever a book two, I know it will be just as intriguing and entertaining as the original.

God’s Will, will be done
Sometimes we hear the voice of God loud and clear, we remember the exact moment God spoke a word to us. For Sasha “Pink” Jansen God spoke to her about her soon to be husband when she was just sixteen. But can one really understand the voice of God at such a young age? Well this reader believe its possible, if we get out of God’s way and allow His plan and not ours.
Ms. Jackson did a wonderful job sharing Pink’s story. So often we hear a message but somehow we get it wrong. Some of us know the word but are we grounded in it or the flesh? I enjoyed Xavier he was a man of God grounded in the word. The way God used him in this story almost brought tears to this readers eyes.
So many topics for book clubs to discuss like, hearing the voice of God, friendships, love, adultery, Christians and PK’s (preacher kids) but even more lessons for readers to learn which reminds me of a saying “we make plans, God laughs and I am sure He had a hysterical moments with Sister Pink.
Fantastic read

The voice of God doesn't tell you to take another woman's husband. Thou shall not covet thy neighbor's...husband, but that's what "Pink" did, right up until the very end. Pink had saved herself for the man she thought had been promised to her, even though he was married, and the pastor of her church. There was more to this pastor than meets the eye. He might have been preaching God's words, but he was nothing but the devil.
This was my first read by Ms. Jackson. It was a very interesting story and I was curious to know how it would end for the characters. Minus some grammar mistakes, it was a good read.

Thus book's storyline showed how women lose in the area of deceit. The young lady Pink was totally obsessed with her pastor for many years & refused to listen to any type of reasoning....spiritual or otherwise. She really had a true friend In the young man who was interested & in love with her. I enjoyed reading this story eventhough my heart kept skipping beats cuz I just knew somebody was going to lose their life!! The characters were well developed. I predict a sequel to this book. I'm unsure if the mother knows her daughter's secret, however, I feel the father does know.

Good Read

When God says Go, you Go!! Six years Sasha "Pink" Jenson has waited to stake her claim on the man that she says God "chose" for her at the age of 16. Problem is........good ole Pastor Malik is married. Although she comes from a wealthy family, is educated, independent & has a best friend named Xavier that's in love with her, she plots and schemes to take another woman's man. This book is well written, entertaining and a page turner!!

Wonderful read. I finished in a matter of hours. I had to keep turning the pages. It's so funny how our own desires can interfere with what God has in mind and how stubborn we can be. Pink really really learned her lesson in this one.

This was the first book I've read from this author. I enjoyed it, but I must say Pink got on my nerves!! Also I didn't like the way the book ended. I felt like there should've been more. Hopefully there will be a part 2.

Five star book

This book was a great read. I wanted to smack some sense into Sasha throughout this whole book but isn't she like many of us, misinterpreting God's words? If you read this book you would not be disappointed. Great story and great writing!!!
