Treason, Treason!

Rate this book
Think you know American history? Have you any idea how close we came to losing the Revolution? Find out here!Imagine what the world would be like if the Revolutionary War was still going on -- 232 years later! The world you know doesn't exist. Britain rules most of north America, and two people have a chance to change things. Physicist Raines Kerr and his daughter, Leah, risk everything to see the colonies win their freedom. But first they must survive the Event which will send them back in time. If they reach Colonial America in 1780, they must then work their way through loyalist territory to find George Washington. If they accomplish all that, they will still face the challenge of convincing him that his most courageous general -- a very close friend -- is about to switch sides.

Treason, Treason! explores the darkest period in the founding of America and the fragile threads which led to greatness, but which just as easily could have ended in disaster.

Josh Langston lives and works in Georgia with his amazing wife and two undisciplined dogs. He co-authored the best-selling Druids trilogy with Canadian author/editor Barbara Galler-Smith. This is his fourth solo novel.

About the author

Josh Langston

Josh writes books which amuse, anger, enlighten and entertain. He regularly mines history for background material that's little known but reliably fascinating. His plots are complex, interconnected and layered with humor and suspense; his characters are rarely predictable, and even his bad guys tend to be both engaging and diabolical.

A graduate of Georgia State University with a degree in journalism, Josh's writing tastes quickly shifted away from reportage. His fiction has been published in a variety of magazines and anthologies, and he currently has two short story collections in the Amazon top 20 for genre fiction.

Josh has branched out more recently into contemporary thrillers and currently has eight such titles on the market along with an historical fantasy trilogy set in the 1st century BC, plus a handful of short story collections.
Oh, Bits! his latest novel, is a paranormal mystery/romance set in Atlanta during WWI. Published by Janda Books, Oh, Bits! debuted in July, 2017.

Great book

A wonderful historical “ what if “ novel about the Revolutionary War and how our history can be altered so completely because of one event in our past. It makes you wonder how each of us is affecting our descendants in the way we live today. A very thought provoking book.

This altered reality novel takes full advantage of the cliché that history is written by the victors. Had Benedict Arnold not been foiled in his treason, the world we live in today in the United States of America would not exist as that entity, World War I might have had a very different outcome, and many quotidian chores and choices that we take for granted would not be possible. The book's very interesting premise controls the plot from beginning to end. The characters are not quite as much fun as the ones in the author's "Primitive" books, but his facile handling of a historical "what might have been" makes for a compelling read.

Very interesting premise—-the Americans did not defeat the English in the Revolutionary War. A professor and his daughter from the 21st century go back in time in order to help the colonies win. I mostly enjoyed it, though there were a couple of unnecessary graphic details and language.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was an easy read that was just fun! I quickly grew interested in the characters and felt invested in their outcomes. It was an entertaining, quick moving story. I would definitely recommend it.

Josh Langston's latest book, Treason, Treason, is either a deftly crafted blend of historical fiction and science fiction or a daring revelation of how the Revolutionary War was won. Either way, it is a rollicking good read. Replete with the author's characteristic wit and historical scholarship, Treason, Treason carries the reader from a rather dystopian 21st century that might have been to the crucial days of the late 18th century that led to the America we know now.  No superheroes, Langston's characters exhibit both virtues and failings as they meet and struggle with characters we all know from high school history (who knew Alexander Hamilton was a pompous jerk?) in their efforts to quash a treacherous plot and change the course of history. With a mix of heroism, humor, time travel, and even a little romance, Treason, Treason delivers an entertaining alternate history that encourages the reader to ask that essential question, "What if?"

Very good reading. An alternate to history as we know it. Could it have happened this way? Who knows.
