After a vacation fling, a high school sex ed guidance counselor and a single father are forced to face each other in real life. Having been the honor roll student, good girl in high school who got pregnant at sixteen, Cassie Finnerty knows what can happen if teens aren’t educated about safe sex. Her job is to counsel the students, answer their questions, and hand out condoms when requested. Jake Lucas is a divorced, single father raising his almost sixteen-year-old daughter. When the contents of his daughter’s purse spill and condoms tumble out, he freaks out. After interrogating his daughter, he finds out she got the condoms at school, so he goes to confront the person who gave them to her and gets the surprise of his life. Spicy
As a tween, Tina Gallagher and her best friend would create happily ever afters for their favorite soap opera couples. Eventually, the soap operas lost their appeal, but the writing never did.
Before living her dream as a full-time author, she worked a spectrum of jobs ranging from baking and cake decorating to marketing and project management.
In between creating memorable characters, traveling, and taking pole dance lessons, Tina enjoys spending time with her handyman husband and two grown children.
“It was a vacation fling. It ended with the vacation.” Or so they thought…
Luke is struggling to understand his daughter. Being a single parent is tough enough, but add in teenage attitude and hormones and things can only go from bad to worse. His best friend, Jay can’t sympathize, so instead tries to take him away from his problems with a vacation. Only what was supposed to be relaxing and restful turned out to be an exciting and arousing vacation fling with a woman Luke won’t soon forget. And he won’t have to either once he meets his daughter’s new guidance counselor.
Cassie may be able to clinically discuss as well as educate and guide young confused minds on the subject of sex, but she hasn’t had much luck with it in her own life. Having had a life altering experience at the impressionable age of sixteen, her professional goal now is to counsel young people away from making the same choices or mistakes she did. Unfortunately, despite her best efforts one can still manage to slip through the cracks and little did Cassie know how profoundly this one would affect her personally.
Ms. Gallagher is now one of my new favorite authors. This story is thought provoking with true to life situations and a passionate romance. The characters themselves were both vocally and visually easy to realize while reading with wonderful description and dialogue. There were just a few hiccups, during the first few scenes of the story in which there were abrupt endings or scene changes without warning, so I found myself re-reading lines to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. However, the majority of the story flowed really well and I became more emotionally invested in the characters with each chapter. The sex scenes too became increasingly spicier and expressive with each encounter. Overall, I really enjoyed the story for its believability in both the characters and their situation. The ending was perfect, but left possibilities open for the author to continue exploring Luke and Cassie’s story or move on to their commitment-phobic best friends.
All contemporary romance readers who would enjoy witnessing a deep relationship develop between two single parents should definitely read this story.
A vacation fling, no strings attached. Then back to your normal life never to see that person again. But, as Cassie finds out her world is about to flip upside down. An irate parent enters Cassie office, because she gave his fifteen year old daughter condoms, she looks up to find none other than her vacation fling Luke standing in the flesh right in front of her.
The attraction that was so hot and heavy on vacation is still there. Once they act upon their feelings things end up getting much worse in the relationship before they get better. There is a big trust issue on all sides and allot of pain and hurt that needs to be taken care of before this couple can move forward.
Cassie finds it hard to keep what Luke’s daughter Megan tells her in confidence at school but she does. In doing so it puts a strain and jeopardizes her relationship with Luke.
Cassie as a counselor has chosen to help other young people make good choices when it comes to sex. This is the whole premise of the story. She made a dumb choice at sixteen but it gave her a wonderful son named Kevin who she wouldn’t trade for anything. But it wasn’t easy going to high school with a baby then onto college. Even though she was able to do it most girls aren’t ready at that age, so Cassie is on a mission to help them.
Luke a single father with a teenage daughter enough said right there. As things go from bad to worse with his daughter he can’t help but feel that Cassie has betrayed him by not informing him of what was going on. But would he have listened?
Ms. Gallagher brought a topic that tends to get covered up out into the open. This makes us realize how important it is to always keep that line of communication open with our teen children and with counselor’s that are only trying to help. Single parents or not it isn’t easy. Kudos to Ms. Gallagher for a refreshing story that touches on allot of important topics.

Even early on, I knew there was fiery attraction between Luke and Cassie, and their reunion wasn't going to be easy. In fact, it was very dramatic. There's a lot of things the two have to learn about the other, if only they could keep their hands off each other. Could it be more than just a fling?
The pair has a lot at stake. What will Megan, Lucas's daughter, think? And Kevin, Cassie's son? How can Cassie keep work and play separate, considering that Megan has come to Cassie with private information, and Lucas shows a concern for his daughter's behavior. There's part of the strong conflict right there. And I knew that once things were found out, it would be explosive. That's what makes for a dramatic romance!
The characters are fresh and exciting, full of life, and very believable. In this contemporary story, real life situations are played out with Lucas, Cassie, Megan, Kevin, and other secondary characters that each have their respective roles in the novel. Add in some hotter-than-fireworks attraction and the need to make the relationship work, and you have Misguided. It's quirky, fun, but yet so down to earth. Readers can very easily relate to the happenings of this story, which is what makes a book stand out.
If you like your romances contemporary, with plenty of sizzling attraction, don't let yourself get "misguided" about reading this book - it's a great novel that shouldn't be missed.
Growing up was never easy for Cassie, especially with a baby on her hip far too young. Having to be an adult before her time didn’t make having a social life too easy for her, but when the opportunity to change all that on a vacation was a gorgeous man named Luke, the ideas were just too delicious to pass up. When the cold light of day and reality set in, will the adventure be worth it or will Cassie decide that one casual fling was enough to last a lifetime?
For Jack “Luke” Lucas, meeting Cassie was the best thing that could have happened to him. But when she becomes more than a dream, but a living breathing thorn in his side, can Luke see past everything to the woman that won his heart without even trying?
This heartwarming story was a really great read that showcased the two main characters and the struggles they went through to be together in the end. Tina Gallagher is a new to me author, but I can definitely say that I will be looking for more of her works in the future since this one was such a hit. The story held more than just sex and a HEA, but there was an actual background to each character and I have to say that was a nice change of pace. The only thing I would have liked to see more of would have been the actually make up that happened between the main characters at the end, and the possible budding relationship between the best friends and kids. Other than that this is a great story if you are looking for a lazy day read that will warm your heart and leave you content.
