A.M. Yates is the author of YA urban fantasy and paranormal romance, including Summoners and The Horizon Cycle. She spends most of her time living in worlds other than this one.
She does not leave reviews on books in her own genres or closely related ones. But if a book appears on her "read" shelf, it means she thought it was good enough to recommend.
The twists and turns in this series are endless. I found myself not wanting to put it down. I wanted to continue reading to see what was going to happen next. Fated Gods is full of action and drama. Just when you think you have it all figured out, the rug is pulled out from under your feet and you're left wondering what just happened.
I would have liked to have had more of an explanation for one character in particular. I felt like he just left when there could have been a little more to his story. Was he a traitor, was he another God in disguise? Since I thought that he was the bad guy for so long, it seemed like he just disappeared without resolve. Other than that, I thought this was a great ending to this series!
A teeny bit disappointed. I felt that the final book was not as amazing as the other two, but then, the first two spoilt me! Josie has to make incredibly difficult decisions, with death and destruction hounding her and her little band of supporters. An intriguing ending, though. I'm thinking this could be the start of a follow-on series ...
Fated Gods did not disappoint. The war has started and everything and everyone is being destroyed. Throw some demons into the mix along with a crazy earth goddess and the end of the world is imminent.
Or is it?
Gotta read to find out.
Lots of action and more info is revealed about Josie. Things that make you go “hmmm.”
This was a good series. Didn't expect the ending. Josie was an interesting character growing up the way she did, then having to function in the world with different expectations. How she dealt with it all made things interesting.
Fated Gods had me on a roller coaster of emotions. There was plot twists, death, action, love, adventure, sacrifice. On one part, my head exploded when I got to a huge plot twist. And another part I was crying due to a particular death or two. Since starting this book a couple of days ago, I haven't been able to put it down. The story was so intense and had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through it, not knowing what was going to happen next. Near the end, I was in tears and I wanted to scream at the characters but I also wanted to hug them all and keep them safe in my arms - I was a mess. This trilogy has definitely become one of my favourites that I have read and I am so sad that this journey is over. I fell in love with the world and I don't want to leave it. Can I live in this world, please?! I really need these books as movies. The Summoners trilogy is like nothing I have read before. It has Triune's, tripartite, gods, Summoners, charm makers, mask makers, nothing I have read about before. It was amazing!! It has been an amazing journey with these books and the countless hours I have spent reading them and sleep I have lost but it has been worth it.
I liked the last book in this series. I'm glad Josie (although I didn't like her) ended up with Judah. I was a big fan of Ty too, he was funny and seemed very smart for someone his age. Overall this was a pretty good series.
Questions/Comments:
1. How did Josie think having her belly button pierced twice with the crystal in the middle was a good idea? I mean it's not like anyone got it, but I just imagine it looking weird. Why not a necklace or something?
2. Why did Josie never tell Tessa what was going on with Judah sooner?
3. "You are a mask-maker. You will cease acting as if you are apart and above the rest of us." But wouldn't she be someone special considering she's the only who can fix a mask? And considering the last mask-maker was around hundreds? thousands of years ago?
4. I was so tired of Josie describing Judah's scent as "slept-in sheets". What exactly does that smell like? And for some reason in this book, the author made it seem as though that hadn't been used in his description in the last 2 books.
