(Arabic: جوزيف ميرفي) Joseph Murphy was a Divine Science minister and author.
Murphy was born in Ireland, the son of a private boy's school headmaster and raised a Roman Catholic. He studied for the priesthood and joined the Jesuits. In his twenties, an experience with healing prayer led him to leave the Jesuits and move to the United States, where he became a pharmacist in New York (having a degree in chemistry by that time). Here he attended the Church of the Healing Christ (part of the Church of Divine Science), where Emmet Fox had become minister in 1931.
In the mid 1940s, he moved to Los Angeles, where he met Religious Science founder Ernest Holmes, and was ordained into Religious Science by Holmes in 1946, thereafter teaching at the Institute of Religious Science. A meeting with Divine Science Association president Erwin Gregg led to him being reordained into Divine Science, and he became the minister of the Los Angeles Divine Science Church in 1949, which he built into one of the largest New Thought congregations in the country. In the next decade, Murphy married, earned a PhD in psychology from the University of Southern California and started writing. After his first wife died in 1976, he remarried to a fellow Divine Science minister who was his longstanding secretary. He died in 1981.
I found old copies of this series on my family bookshelf. Like 10 books or so. I haven't read all of them because: the first book in the series was great, the second was repeating a lot from the first, the third was repeating a lot from both the first and third. By the time I got to the end of the third book, I had the feeling that all that the author wanted to say, had already been said.
Overall the information is helpful for creating a positive mindset. However, he takes scripture out of context, without considering the audience it was written for or the meaning of the original language. He forces it to apply to what he wants it to apply to. At times I found this very frustrating, and I also questioned whether I should believe anything else he said because this made me question his credibility.
I do not believe that we are gods, nor does the Bible teach this. He repeatedly says that we are our own gods. This concept conflicts with Christianity as well Judaism.
I do know that positive thinking works, however. I found the ideas for positive thinking helpful. The ideas about being my own god I disregarded

I actually quite enjoyed this book and found that I got quite a bit out of it. It has some sharp insights and easy ways to implement them. I keep stumbling into this idea of how to facilitate change by 'changing' your mind and this is the first book that really makes sense. In fact, I've done this in the past without being cognizant of doing so .....with some success as well. However I haven't used it much as of late, having lost the confidence once I got off the path of certainty.
Biorąca na tapet głównie wiarę w siebie i zmianę sposobu myślenia, dając bardziej suche fakty, niż porady do wprowadzenia w życie.
Another excellent book by that mystical magician Joseph Murphy. Yes many of his books seem to be singing the same tune, but in this case repetition of his mystical incantations is food for the soul.
Good content on programming your subconscious and being aware of your thoughts. Got a bit overly religious at times but I enjoyed this very much despite that.
This was solid, but teaches some limiting beliefs. I would not recommend this for beginners who don't have enough discernment yet when it comes to the law.
Of course I will rate this book with 5 stars. Why? Well how would you rate a book that makes you feel so good about yourself? Isn't it great when you find an author whose books always seem to light up your life and influence positively on your attitude? That's what I found in Mr. Murphy's books..they are just always here for me whenever I am confused or feel like life is challenging me to do something..and I feel like being on a crossroad. His book work miraculously on boosting my self-confidence. Just like any other of his books I've read so far, this one has the potential of changing your life..all you have to do is just give it a chance. I personally, loved it!
I consider myself pretty open minded, however as a follower of Christ, I'm personally uncomfortable with how he uses some of the Biblical references in the book. There good material in the book, but there's also a potential for a lot of confusion. Just because the book was written by a pastor and uses scripture doesn't mean it's accurate.
