Vex was born into servitude, collared and trained into submission by the Xen'dari Empire. An unexpected turn of events offers him the chance for freedom, but Trexen were taught to fear freedom, and to fear themselves. Without the Xen'dari collar around his neck or a Master to tell him what to do and how to do it, Vex is faced with having to make his own choices while fighting against the instinctual, carnal nature of his Trexen heritage. Cris is the last of her kind, enslaved by a man who uses her charms to subdue the crowds of his tavern and heal the wounds of his gang who attack the territories surrounding their outpost. When Vex steps into her world and kidnaps her into freedom, she must decide if she will accept it or if she will run from it and him. Together, they will search for a grasp of freedom, an acceptance of themselves and an understanding of each other. *This book is intended for mature readers and contains mild violence and romantic scenes of intimacy. The events in this book take place after Whispers From Exile. About The Corwint Central Agent Files Corwint Central Agent Files is set in a galaxy far, far away. Various planetary systems and alien species, some human-like and others very unique, offer a backdrop to the adventures, struggles for power, character development and romance. As a space opera, character development and world building are the key ingredients. As a romance, ideals of love and relationship development are what drive the stories forward. The Corwint universe is a constantly growing, changing and evolving universe. From space stations to newly discovered planets, each story in the series adds to a universe rich with life, struggling with conflict, and evolving its own sense of existence. Love is the key theme in the series. Each book explores different aspects of love; from 'love at first sight' to unrequited love, from 'friends to lovers' to 'opposites attract', and everything in between. It also explores both sides of love - the good and beauty that can come from it, as well as the destructive force it can unleash when love turns to obsession. Everything, and everyone, in the Corwint Universe has a past, present and future. Nothing is stagnant or an island. Every action, or inaction, has the potential to cast stones across the universe, creating ripple effects that may not be realized until years later. Fate mingles with choice, and consequences follow every decision.

C.E. Kilgore (1981 - ) is an author without genre, who likes to dabble in several genres from romance to science fiction. She also enjoys pushing the boundaries of those genres, trying new things, venturing outside formulas and turning tropes on their heads. Admittedly a control freak, she is currently a self-published author under the name Tracing The Stars, and hasn't quite found the publisher who fits all her quirks. This is the side story on Vex, one of the characters that we meet in book two - and I have to say that this is my favorite. The love that happens for him is unlike the other ones - it's not physical, but more mental. And I really like his character so it was really cool finding out more about him, especially what happens with him after book two. After speaking to the author, I found out that soon the second part of this story will be out and I can't wait to read it. I kind of, I don't know, relate to this one.

I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an HONEST review.

UPDATE: Recently I was informed by the author that this has now become a full-length novel - which I am very excited about - and I have since downloaded the full thing from Smashwords. When I complete that novel, I will be updating my review.

I am reading this from the Sing A Song of the Stars anthology

3-1/2 stars - Story about an alien (well really they are all aliens in this book) who comes across a woman who is being used and kidnaps her for all kinds of reasons. I was confused about the ending - was the guy who found her when she was a child good or bad? I liked that there weren't endless sex scenes. I know, I'm jaded!

This book rushed through things too fast. It became too trite.
