Peter Sturges Ruckman (November 19, 1921 – April 21, 2016) was an American Independent Baptist pastor and founder of Pensacola Bible Institute in Pensacola, Florida (not to be confused with Pensacola Christian College, also in Pensacola, Florida).
Ruckman was known for his position that the King James Version constituted "advanced revelation" and was the final, preserved word of God for English speakers.
Written in Ruckman's typical, scattered style of which I have come to endear. This book is certainly not for the faint of heart, nor the scripturally ignorant; You are expected to know a little of prophecy and where this world is heading. Personally I have had to put this book down multiple times and become more mature before I could finish. Some is a bit far fetched as he doesn't provide a lot of sources in what I recall of my reading, though I can just point this as laziness and unwillingness to search the matter out. Overall a very thought-provoking and interesting book.
I very much respect Dr. Ruckman and have no doubt that the things in this book are true. However, I gave 2 stars because I wish I had not read it. A friend recommended it and I thought I could handle it, but now I know things I wish I didn’t. I don’t like the feeling that there’s something more to worry about than what I read on the news.
Quite a lot of police state talk between the interesting stuff, but I get why he felt it was relevant. The ending chapter puts it all together and definitely worth the read.
I read this several years ago, so my recollection of the material is not as fresh, but I enjoyed it. It was a challenging read, and I would not recommend it for someone who isn't a born-again, Bible believer who has good doctrinal knowledge. I have read some of Dr. Ruckman's other books and this one lacks some details he would usually include, but I had the impression he was just trying to put down his thoughts on paper. Some of his points were things I already suspected or thought about, but others were issues that hadn't occurred to me before, but should have. I gleaned a lot from this book and it was definitely worth my time.
