This novel is quiet short and an easy read. The only down fall about this that I had a major issue with is the title, and the summary that the author provided. Basically what's in the summary on the back of the book is the whole book, minus the details.
Over all, it was okay. 3 stars. Just wished the character said their feelings earlier instead of dragging out. Then maybe the author could have included more of their relationship, then just based on their past relationship together.

Kate Devaney's father died when she was 7, protecting Garrett Gage from killers. As he died, he asked Garrett to look after Kate, so the two of them are linked by quite the tragedy. Even more tragic, Kate is hopelessly in love with Garrett, but doesn't know if he feels the same way!
Sick of the heartache of wanting a man she can't have, Kate decides to leave Texas for Miami. When Garrett finds out, he's determined to make her stay. But does he love her back? And what about the marriage of convenience suggested by Cassandra Clarks, whose company he wants to buy out?
I mostly enjoyed this romance, so I'll get the bad parts out of the way first.
1. I didn't like how Kate's answer to her predicament was to run away! Surely moving out and renting nearby would be less drastic? It didn't sound as if she had any actual plan in place for when she got to Miami!
2. The big sex scene takes place when Garrett is sick with fever and strep throat. Gross!
3. The marriage-of-convenience subplot. It felt like a set-up for a book between Cassandra and the illegitimate brother Emerson, which would be fine, but it's also used here as a manufactured way to develop the big misunderstanding between Kate and Garrett. The secondary character of Beth kept on telling Kate that Garrett was going through with the wedding, which wasn't the case, and he'd given no indication that he would, so why would Beth keep on harping on about it? In any case, Kate and Garrett had enough emotional conflict to deal with, without that silly external conflict.
Other than that, it was a quick, easy read and a couple of tears may have welled in my eyes towards the end!

Day and night Kate Devaney longed for this man, Garrett Gage, one of three successful media magnate brothers, that she tried to forget. They had shared history...and now a child. For Kate must find the right time to tell Garrett that he was going to be a father. But now he was engaged to be married, a marriage in name only, (for business reasons) and she must accept the news.
Kate was at her little sister's wedding, Molly who was marrying Julian John, and Garrett, Julian's brother was the best man. Tomorrow, Kate was leaving with a one-way ticket from San Antonio, Texas to Miami, Florida.
The Gage family had taken Molly and Kate in when their father was killed, and they had became orphans, the Gage family provided for them. Kate's father had died protecting Garrett from gunshots, because Garrett hadn't run for cover when he should have. I really, really wanted to love this one, but only got as far as liking it! This was my first read by Red Garnier and I loved how she brought out the emotions of Kate and Garrett. But what turned me off and made me give a star less than it deserved was how this book seemed to drag out the past, the recent past, of the protagonists. While reading, just when I expected that the story will now proceed, I was disappointed to see that it still remained in the past. Kate and Garrett had great chemistry, though!

Don't buy, waste of money. Bad story.
To much angst. I love harelquin presents. But spending $3 was not worth it. No real story. The hero was good and bad! Nothing in between to substantiate why. The heroine was weak and unrealistic. She's moving to Florida with no plans. This one should have free.

It was ok. I was not a fan of hero knowing heroine wanted to be with him (while also wanting to be with heroine) that he slept with tons of other women for years.
Also not a fan of the hero considering marrying another woman for most of the book. He never wanted to do it, but he was seriously considering it.
They had a strong connection and would have ended up together even if she hadn't been pregnant (she didn't tell him she was pregnant before he proposed and told her he loved her). P.

My least favorite of this...trilogy? (It seemed like there was sequel bait for another, but I don't see it anywhere.) It did get me to read the first two books in the trilogy, though, which I enjoyed much more, so I think this was just not a story that worked for me.

The characters were sweet and had good chemistry. Unfortunately, a lot of the book's potential was let down because the author chose to have a simple, stupid misunderstanding be what kept the leads apart. I hate it when the entire plot is driven by people's inability to communicate.

Pas umur 10th, Garret Gage & ayahnya mengalami kecelakaan, lebih tepatnya ditembakin orang si (secara mereka kaya raya). Ayahnya tewas, dan David bodyguard nya Gage juga tewas pas ngelindungin Garrett. Garrett merasa bersalah banget, karena saat itu David nyuruh Garrett buat lari dan sembunyi, tapi Garrett malah lari ke ayahnya yg berlumuran darah (wajar si kl menurut gw 10th lah) dan saat itu "BANG2!!" tau2 David ude nindihin Garrett dan bersimbah darah juga. Saat itu juga David minta Garrett buat janji ngejagain dua putrinya Kate 7th dan (gw lupa si Molly umurnya berapaan), dan jadi Hero buat mereka.
Bertahun-tahun kemudian, Garrett selalu menjadi Hero buat Kate, trus Molly? yeah yg ude baca buku 2 nya tau deh.. Molly ini otomatis bakalan lari ke Julian (adeknya Garrett) dan otomatis Julian jadi Heronya Molly. Tapi, ada perbedaan antara Julian dan Garrett, Julian ini tipe2 yg easy going, menunjukkan cintanya ke Molly jg ude dari remaja sampe Garrett mati-matian ngejauhin Julian dari Molly yg lugu. Sementara Garrett, karena rasa bersalah ama Kate yg ude menyebabkan bpknya mati die ga berani mikir macam-macam, pokoknya tujuan hidupnya adalah membuat Kate bahagia tapi dengan ngangep Kate bagian keluarga.
Kate, jatuh cinta ke Garrett sejak.. hhmm mbuh, sejak lama deh pokoknya, masalahnya Kate itu tau Garrett kaga nganggep die seorang wanita dan sebelumnya semua itu ga masalah buat Kate, sampai die melihat interaksi Julian - Molly dan London - Beth, die jg pengen (ya iyalah, gw jg kali mba Kate #eh). Dia ingin punya keluarga, laki-laki yg mencintainya, anak yg menyayanginya, intinya dia ingin bahagia tapi ga mungkin kalau Garrett ada disampingnya. Karena bagaimana mungkin dia bisa mencintai orang lain kalau dia mencintai Garrett? makanya Kate memutuskan untuk pindah ke Florida dan memulai hidup baru, cari laki-laki yg mau mencintainya dan dia akan mencintai balik, simpel kan.. sampai Garrett tau Kate mau pindah.
Kesel? sudah pasti.. marah? iye lah.. Good book with some intense heat between Garrett and Kate.
Garrett has loved Kate for years, but his guilty feelings over her father's death won't allow him to believe in a future with her. Those feelings get worse when they give in to their passion and he feels like he has betrayed his vow to protect her. Garrett is torn up over his feelings for Kate. He wants her in his life, but can't believe she would want him because of his part in her father's death. I loved seeing his brothers try to convince him to go after what he wants.
Kate has likewise been in love with Garrett, but hasn't been able to get his attention. She's ready to give up and move away, in hopes of getting over him and finding someone else to love. Her one night of passion with him shows her what she could have. When she ends up pregnant, she isn't sure what Garrett's reaction will be, especially since she believes he's about to get engaged to someone else.
I loved the ending and seeing them both at Molly and Julian's wedding. It was fun to see their reactions to what the other said and did. I loved the way that both finally admitted their love and were able to overcome their fears.
There's an interesting twist to a business deal the brothers are working on that I hope is a setup for another book. The existence of an illegitimate half-brother who hates them has the potential for a really good story.

I thought this was a rather cutesy read. Good thing I found this in my TBR mountain just in time for some light reading. But I do regret how I got to read this book first instead of starting with the first one in the series because I think the Gage brothers are A-okay.
Garrett had always thought he was undeserving of Kate because of a tragic event in their past. Kate couldn't stay with the Gages anymore because being with Garrett but them not being together was getting more than difficult. But the the news of her moving to another state proved to be the catalyst for them to confront their attraction with each other...with a rather (un)expected result.
I'm pretty sure the general plot had been used by other authors already. But I still like the storytelling in this book. A smooth flowing and engaging narrative is definitely key.

This story had a lot of good elements and really made me want to keep reading. I love that the first chapter is actually from near the end of the book and then you go back two months. The relationship between the characters was well developed and enjoyable.
My biggest complaint about this book was the title. It had nothing to do with the story, at all. I put this book at the end of my "to read" list because the title was off-putting. The story, however, was great. I was shocked. The writing itself was enthralling and kept me reading. Without the horrible title, this would have been a 5 star story, and I've only read one other story I would rate as 5 stars.
I will be reading the other books in this series.

Spineless, unreasonable, weak heroine...that was Kate and I don't like them that way. Then you have the playboy hero, Garrett, who it took to the final chapters to suddenly figure out he was in love with Kate and had been their whole lives, ever since her and her sister who were orphaned came to live with them. It took that long, more than twenty years, to figure it out? Kate knew from the very beginning. The story just didn't flow for me and was, in certain chapters, boring and slow-moving. I felt it wasn't worth my time. Everything seemed to take forever to happen.

January 9, 2016This has been on my TBR pile since it came out. Unfortunately, picking it up today, I was disappointed with how misleading the title it. The prologue starts 30 days after the hero and heroine sleep together and she gets pregnant, then promptly goes back 2 months in time. The rest of the book is all backstory. With this title, I was expecting (and looking forward to) a book about an unplanned pregnancy but really the most we see of the pregnancy is her getting a confirmation scan right at the end.

I recieved this book in a Goodreads giveaway, this in no way affects my review. I enjoyed this book, i though it was well written and well thought out though I do question (and have mixed feelings) about the whole strep scene, but hey, weird as I thought it was it fit with our deprived heroine and hero. As always with books like this, I do recomend them if you want some light reading with a romantic flair to it.

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.
This was a quick and easy read and the plot was enjoyable. I did however tire of the main characters dragging out the conflict. The outcome was obvious and dragging out the conflict seemed a bit forced the third and fourth times. I wish the author would have delved more into the past between the main characters, thereby better establishing the love story angst. However, this may have been done in earlier companion novels.

akhirnya bisa jg baca ni novel.....meskipun tak bisa menggantikan posisi JJ-Molls tp cerita mereka berdua ini lumayan bikin ngakak...apalagi pas scene yg lagi hot2nya makeout eehhh ke gap sama adek2nya lol...sekarang tinggal nunggu cerita selanjutnya *kalo ada sih* tapi maunya sih ada ttg sodara tiri mereka...hmpfh

I received this book via Goodreads first reads giveaway. What a great quick read. I loved Kate and Garret. Both tormented by the past, a little too stubborn to see their future. You couldn't help but just root for them all the way to the end.

This book was a prefect read on a day like today; cloudy and rainy. It was a great quick read. One I couldn't wait to finish. Garret and Kate are both tormented by the past, and need to get through it to see their future together.

Should have read this one after reading Molly's story but ah well! This was a good read. The only quip I had was that I wished that we got more development of Kate and Garrett's relationship after they hashed things out. But good read overall.
