Tui T. Sutherland, who sometimes writes under the pen name Rob Kidd, is a children's book author who has also written under the pen name Heather Williams. She shares another pen name, Erin Hunter, with writers Kate Cary and Cherith Baldry when they collaborate with editor Victoria Holmes on the Seekers and Warriors series of novels.In 2009, she appeared as a contestant on Jeopardy!, becoming a two-day champion and winning a grand total of $46,200.

Let me begin by saying that anyone who knows me absolutely knows that I am completely obsessed with Pirates of the Caribbean. I love Jack Sparrow and Johnny Depp (well, Depp is Sparrow) and I have watched all the movies multiple times. And I am super excited about the fifth one coming out in the summer of 2017!

No, seriously, you do not understand how much I love the Pirates of the Caribbean. It is literally my most favorite movie franchise of all time.

This book was cute. I liked it. Obviously, it can by no means surpass the movies, but I was really impressed by how the author was able to really portray the mannerisms of the characters. The description was really beautiful especially for such a short children's book. The characters really came alive, and I could practically hear Johnny Depp's voice and see him. And Tia Dalma? That accent was spot on. However, obviously there were some qualms. And well? Jack Sparrow? Inimitable.

This one was kind of a slog of a read aloud to get through. There was a lot of random drama between some random women who were original characters. My boy wanted to read it for Jack Sparrow, but he wasn't excited by it. The writing was good, but not sure if we'll keep going with this series.

Sometimes I find books I want to read in the weirdest way! I was trying to find the little speech Barbossa held while freaking Elizabeth out:

"For too long I've been parched of thirst and unable to quench it. Too long I've been starving to death and haven't died. I feel nothing. Not the wind on my face nor the spray of the sea. Nor the warmth of a woman's flesh.
You best start believing in ghost stories, Miss Turner... you're in one!"

Instead I first found the title of this book.

I have such a soft spot for screen-to-book adaptations. Most of the time they truly are labours of love. Delightful.

I would say that this book series is a lot better than its predecessor. It's a lot more mature and well written. It's more well thought out. The characters I found to be more interesting. Jack is a bit more mature. I know these books are written for children, so I'm not exactly the target audience.
