Where oh WEAR could she be?

Wolf shifter and fashion designer Zane Bellamy has a he’s ‘face-blind,’ unable to recognize people easily no matter how often he’s seen them.

Victoria Hawthorne has a secret, too, but she’s a long-term substitute teacher, and if she’s learned anything from teaching first graders, it’s that the best way to keep a secret is to not tell anybody. She and Zane have that in common...but absolutely nothing else.

Haute couture collides with ordinary life when Vicki wins a dress design by Zane himself. She knocks him off his feet when they meet...and even so, his face-blindness means he won’t recognize her the next time they see each other!

Vicki has no real plans to put down roots, especially because some of Virtue’s founding families make it clear outsiders are unwelcome—although her students, especially six-year-old Noah Brannigan—don’t seem to feel the way the town elders do.

But when local-boy-made-good Zane returns to make her gown, everything changes in a heartbeat—even as Vicki fears there’s no way this instant attraction can turn into something lasting. And although Zane can’t deny the connection he has with Vicki, he’s never really believed in fate...until circumstances run out of his control and he realizes he’s about to lose everything. But thanks to Noah’s interference, Zane might have one last chance to make it right with Vicki, and earn their fairy tale ending.

Love is blind in WEAR WOLF, a charming, steamy standalone that will have you in stitches with a guaranteed happily ever after and no cliffhangers. If you're looking for charming, funny paranormal shifter romance, one-click now and fall in love with the Virtue Shifters!

Wear Wolf is either book six or book nine, depending on whose word you take for the intended order. At least the title pun makes sense this time.

Zane left home the minute he graduated from high school, needing to get away from his toxic father and small-town life. Now he’s a fashion designer to the stars, happily ensconced in Los Angeles. He sponsors a charity contest to give away a custom-designed dress and is greatly surprised when the winner is in his hometown of Virtue, New York. He figures the winner must be someone he went to school with, and he's dead set against going back to Virtue to meet the person.

Victoria came to Virtue as a long-term substitute teacher. Every year, she signs a contract with a different school district, traveling from state to state to see where she might want to settle down. Once in Virtue, she entered a contest at the behest of her elementary school students and is even more surprised than Zane when she wins.

Zane resists going back to Virtue, arguing that it shouldn’t be a problem to sweep the winner off to Los Angeles and treat her like a queen. His long-suffering personal assistant, Dion, strong-arms him into going to the winner’s hometown as the contest was advertised. It’s a good thing, too, because Zane knows as soon as he sees Victoria that (of course) she’s his fated mate. There’s only one big problem: Zane suffers from face blindness (prosopagnosia), so he can’t recognize Victoria. Dion and other parties whisked Zane and Victoria apart to speak to the press at the award ceremony, and Victoria was gone by the time Zane got free of the reporters.

This couple has at least two difficulties to overcome: their geographic incompatibility and prosopagnosia. I gave this one five stars, as the two seem more believable (despite his fairy-tale career) than most of the other characters. This volume helped me to finish the series.

Fated mates and leaps of faith

I loved Zane and Vicki’s fated mates, opposites attract romance. I have enjoyed all the other books in the series and this one was wonderful. The story had a good mix of humor, love, real life issues, shifter politics, secrets, healing, and spice. Vicki is a human who is living in small town Virtue for a year while working as a long term substitute elementary school teacher. She likes living in the small town but also feels like an outsider. Zane is a well known fashion designer who is also wolf shifter. He grew up in Virtue, a shifter protected town, but left after high school graduation and has not been back. When Vicki wins a contest to have a dress designed by Zane, he is forced to return to town. Zane’s wolf instantly recognizes Vicki as his mate but he’s not sure he believes in fated mates, she knows nothing about shifters, he hates his hometown, he lives across the country, and he is not sure he’ll be able to recognize her the next time he sees her because he has facial blindness. To get to their HEA there will need to be truth telling, baggage unpacking, and leaps of faith. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, good world building, and a captivating storyline. I hope to read more stories set in this town.

Fairytale or furry-tail

Okay, I was really looking forward to this book, but was sadly disappointed. One, it didn’t “catch” me like other books did; it dragged. I kept putting it down and having to force myself to come back to it. Second, unless New York does teaching very differently than other states, she’s not a “substitute” teacher, she’s just there on a 1 year contract which most schools do with all teachers. How does she already have another “substitute” job lined up for next year when she’s not half way through with this one yet? A substitute is not typically (but can be) certified and is there because the actual teacher had to take a leave of absence or quit. And teachers don’t bounce across state lines. She says she’s certified, so unless she got a National Board Certificate she would have to get recertified in each state. Believe me, I have taught in other states (Navy wife) and it’s not something you just bounce around for. Three, why did it have to be written out of chronological order from the other books? Why not put Noah in 3rd grade? There was nothing I saw happen in the classroom that couldn’t happen in third grade just as easily as first grade.

Once he finally told her his secret, the pace picked up a bit, and I was able to sit down and read until the end.

OK, yes, this was an adorable paranormal, small-town shifter romance with some great diversity rep in there (we have a main character with face-blindness, and a main B-character who's Black and queer - both of which are just accepted as part of who the characters are by everyone who matters to the plot)

Plus, it had just a hint of one of my favourite tropes these days: the dirty-talking cinnadom.

Once again, I love how Ms Murphy (the Virtue Shifters Zoe) writes her characters - sweet, competent in their own ways, and actually able to communicate with each other like grown-ass adults (at least, when they have access to their phones, anyway!)

I wasn't a super fan of the borderline third-act breakup, but if one had to be in there, it was one of the better-written ones I've come across. And on the plus side, the B-character romance thread was almost as heartwarming as the main one, so on balance I left the book happier than when I came to it. Which is pretty much why I read the Zoes, after all.

And the best treat of all was discovering that not only is there a new Virtue Shifters instalment coming later this year (sometime around October, I suspect, given the Octoberfest backdrop), but there's also a new spinoff series coming. I can't wait to read both of them!

Surprises galore in here!

Vicki is a long-term substitute in Virtue, where her students convinced her to try and win a haut couture ball gown. Zane the fashion designer had left his hometown Virtue long ago and sworn never to return, but he had to, to honor his commitment to design the gown. When he gets there, he finds that Vicki is his mate! But with his disability he can not recognize people easily like everyone else can. How can this big-time fashion designer and a substitute teacher make anything work?

The pace is fast and the tone is uncertain yet hopeful with a character oriented storyline that has some steamy suggestions but not a ton of detail. The characters are vivid and engaging. Read this series in order but expect to move around a little in time, as this story takes place before the Some Bunny book in time. Hopefully that will make sense to you. Either way, this is a cute story with a bit of angst to it surprisingly. Enjoy!

I both liked and didn't like this book. Zane is a wolf shifter with a facial recognition disorder. Originally from Virtue, he left and became a famous fashion designer. He returns to make a dress for Victoria, a first grade teacher who won a contest. I really liked the facial recognition disorder representation and how Zane managed that part of his life. He and Victoria were cute together and I loved how he made her feel seen. I think my favourite scene though was when the old grumpy badger guy got up on stage at the "should we lock down Virtue or not" community meeting and essentially smacked down everyone who disagreed with progress. That was fun. So was Zane's apology to the wrong person. I think what I didn't like so much was the shifter aspect. His wolf was so quiet (normal for him) that he wasn't there very much. It didn't feel like a shifter book to me and my favourite parts of this series are usually how the characters' inner animals act and speak.

A bit of fluff

This is a stand alone romance set in Virtue, NY, an established setting for books by Zoe Chant/Murphy Lawless. (For new readers, I don't think this is a co-authored book. These are two pen names of the same person, but other authors also write as Zoe Chant, so it can be bit confusing for new readers. They're all great!)

Wear wolf is a bit silly and very sweet romance between two people who wouldn't seem to match, on the surface. The sex is mostly implied, but there is one described sex scene, and I really liked that she got her hands on him. The scenario itself is pretty wild, and both careers are not very accurately portrayed, but to be fair, one of the characters can turn into a wolf.

There is some Virtue politics for fans of the town, and we get to see some past characters having their HEAs.

it was good till it wasn’t

I really did not like the ending. I’m not what you would call a traditionalist or old fashioned but in fantasy books … I really do think love, marriage, then…the baby carriage in that order. Sorry that was a flat ending. How dare you actually try to pull off a literal Cinderella fairytale story then have her knocked up before marriage. Sorry but that is a bad ending. But I appreciate you intent to give a Cinderella story a twist ending.. I guess?.. but Cinderella getting knocked up. And not married?… um nope .. you could have at least let her get married before the ending while it’s too early to tell, so it’s redneck hillbilly white trash,… stretch.

Not your Alpha wolf

I loved everything about this story, from the stunning cover to endearing twists and turns at the end. It’s well written, the main shifter character is delightfully not your typical shifter alpha wolf. He’s a bit fussy, unsure of his romantic feelings and overall artistically delightful. He’s not an alpha at all in fact, but in a world of his own talent who, as a homie of Virtue, NY brings his skills home to broaden all of their world when he meets his mate — a tracher who can wrangle children and temperamental wolves alike. It’s fun to read, engaging and has the best end of story twist and turns I’ve read in awhile.

another wonderful book in the Virtue series

I really like that the individual authors are identifying themselves in the Zoe Chant series. This book was great from beginning to end. I do want a book on how Noah takes over the world when he grows up! He is a wonderful minor character that probably wants to take over the whole book!

Vicki is great and Zane has an interesting disability. I liked how it was worked into the story.

If you like HEA shifter stories, the Chant series is a must!

Loved It

Another great book in the Virtue Shifters series. I adored Vicki and Zane. Zane has a disability that I'd never heard about before and found fascinating. I love how even a fun romance canon educate me. Add this to a shifter not sure he believes in fated mates , a human who knows nothing about shifters. small town politics and you get a great story that gives you a range of emotional feels. Of course Noah is so darn cute. I hope someday we get to see him as an amazing adult. I highly recommend this whole series.

Okay, so, I liked it. I liked the MCs a lot. The story was fairly cute. The dad though, Gah! I wanted Zane’s mom to storm into town and put him in his place, or maybe dad’s fated mate to finally show up on the scene (since he doesn’t believe in them) and rip him to shreds. What a jerk!

Also, that end bit was silly, with Dion. The press wouldn’t care about that. Neither of them was anybody. A PA, and some guy that works at his folks’ B&B in upstate? Uh, no. That wouldn’t have distracted anybody.

I also don’t know how I feel about a couple who doesn’t stay in Virtue. :/

Wear Wolf (Virtue Shifters)

This is proof that you should trust fate (or your inner animal) when it comes to finding THE one. Several romances come to fruition in this story each ending in HEA's for all. I suggest reading this series from the first book as some characters show up throughout most of them. Love the series, stories and characters, but what about the train? Keep writing more.

As always, it’s a fabulous vacation to Virtue!
Great characters, several places that I laughed out loud, (much to the dismay of my husband, who was sitting the same room) and as always a HEA.
It’s always a joy to visit with old friends and make new ones!
Can’t wait for the next one - and now I have to go re-read the others!

Brilliant Series

Wear Wolf (Virtue Shifters) by Zoe Chant & Murphy Lawless. Vicki was a substitute teacher and never won anything. Now she would have a dress made by designer to the stars Zane and when they meet they are drawn to each other but there’s a rocky road in front of them.

Wear Wolf (Virtue Shifters)

Zane and Victoria's story is one for the ages. It allows you to experience all types of emotions happiness, sadness, anger, and contentment. You'll get choked up with the feelings of the main characters and everyone in Virtue that you meet. A great HEA to read more than once to make sure you didn't miss something. Enjoy!

wear wolf

Wear Wolf part of the Virtue Shifters books about shifters and finding their human to love for the rest of their lives. It’s such a great, adorable story with couple of twists and turns which would send you on a dizzying ride while wanting to reach them and knock their heads together to make them see what’s right in front of them. Adorable ending

Funny story

Lots of misplaced angst in this story! Loved the mold school verses the new in the town of Virtue, but would have been nice to see a bit more resolution. But a good read.

A big city designer meets a small-town teacher. This couldn't have been a sweeter couple. Every story out of Virtue guarantees a HEA. 'Zoe' never disappoints. As a sucker for a fated mates tale, I loved this. A must read for shifter lovers. This is my honest opinion of an early copy I received.

Twisty and satisfying

The story starts out with some obvious possible complications, but the complications turned out to be different than I expected, and the plot keeps twisting! Two sweet stories in one, and the further effects of Sarah and Matt taking on the charter.

Started off very entertaining and humorous but I found the ending a let down.
Our HEA couple actually hadn’t committed to each other, whilst the gay couple really stole the show, quite literally.
