Tom Marlowe #6

Broad Sword

Rate this book
Ex-British MI5 “Section D” agent Tom Marlowe has been burnt, his Security Services clearance restricted, and his protection from foreign agencies removed. However, recent events have left him somewhat untouchable...

So, when the Home Secretary asks for his help to find an AI weapon named Broad Sword, stolen from the Stealth Fighter it was built for, and before it's sold to the highest bidder, Marlowe and his allies start a hunt that crosses from Europe to the Caribbean, and from Spain to Silicon Valley, constantly in danger as they attempt to regain the most dangerous weapon in the world - before it's used.

But while Marlowe does this, he's hunted by The Gravedigger, responsible for the death of an old friend, and one of the most feared assassins in the world.

As the bodycount rises, can Marlowe stay alive long enough to save the world?

And what happens when the secret cabal known as Orchid reappear, calling in a debt to confirm Marlowe's appointment to the High Council?

Just keep getting better.

I’ve read all 6 of the Tom Marlowe thrillers and can only say that I was on the edge of my seat numerous times. Bring on book7 in October and all I can say to anybody reading this review, is that you should read the first six then, like me, look forward to book7.

Good story, ironically about AI.

Especially considering the impression that the author has toyed with AI editing.
Still, I have to admit, it was less evident in this tome, so either he's gotten better AI or sensibly turned away from it.
These Marlow stories remain imaginative, timely & highly entertaining. A good read & a rollicking ride.

Tom Marlowe is, once again, tasked with saving the British secret service when it loses control of an AI technology named Broad Sword. Marlowe is assisted by Trix, Brad, Sasha, and a few other allies. Warring factions of Orchid weave through the events. A solid spy thriller. 3.5 stars.

Fabulous tale of many spies

This was my favorite Tim Marlowe story so far. I keep thinking Jack G. just can't get any better but I should know better by now, he keeps knocking it out of the park. I love Tom, Declan Walsh & Ellie Reckless!!!

Lots of people are afraid of what AI is capable of. After reading this, that fear will no doubt grow. Marlowe and gang are chasing a billionaire again, and it’s another with a god complex. This one just wants to prove he’s better than his daddy. Exciting, frightening, and explosive. Good book.

Broad Sword by Jack Gatland is book 6 in the Tom Marlowe series. Joanna Karolides, the Home Secretary, is in Scotland to see a stealth bomber through its paces. The bomber has an AI device fitted to assist the pilot but can take control of the aircraft in different circumstances. What could possibly go wrong. Tom Marlowe is called in by the Home Secretary to investigate when things do go wrong. Tom and Trix Preston team up. I really like Trix, hacker and computer extraordinaire. We see the return of the Gravedigger as well, who has been hired to kill Tom. I have enjoyed this whole series and Broad Sword is a great addition. It is fast-paced, thrilling and so exciting. It was hard to get my nose out of the book as it took me on a roller-coaster ride.
