Spirited: Too Late?

Rate this book
Sequel to the award-winning teen novel, Spirited Book 1: No Accidents.

Since crossing to the afterlife, Cassidy and Sienna have each learned more about Cassidy’s stepfather and soon-to-be mayor, Bruce Williams. Now they are left wondering if Bruce is a good person who sometimes does bad things or a bad person who sometimes does good things—and whether Cassidy should care. Those musings are cut short when they meet Graham, the ember who has his eye on Bruce. Good or bad, Cassidy and Sienna must get through to Bruce before Graham does or everyone in their hometown could suffer.

They are only trainees, but this time, they have a plan. Sort of. Can they pull it off? Or is it too little, too late?

Happily married mother of 3. I enjoy fantasy romance with or without spice with a growing preference for spice-free reads.

Author of the award-winning young adult afterlife fantasy series, Spirited (14+), where redemption is a thing, and no one really dies.

Oh my gosh, this book guys!!!
I loved book 1, but book 2 definitely picks up the story and packs a punch. I usually don't like the second book of a 3-4 book series because it tends to drag, but that is not the case with Spirited 2. S.M Webb picks the story back up and it is epic. The action kicks up more between my favorite baddie Graham (sorry god) and our girls. The romance plot line had me engaged and shipping a certain 2 people. The ending, oh my goodness what a cliffhanger!! Run to get this book/series, you will not regret it.

A lot tamer than my usual reads but definitely one for an emotional but sweet and reflective story about second chances.

Cassidy and Sienna are now together in heaven after the events of book 1 and have to navigate their new surroundings. There are some great additional characters in this one, my favourites being Mateo and Graham.
I liked the concept of the Life Albums as this really helped us look into the consequences of trauma and how we might help those that are struggling.

The ongoing ideal of fighting for souls is an interesting take and the fact the girls have to enter training to do so makes it more believable as far as it can be in this setting. I did have an issue with there being something to learn throughout but as i was learning alongside the girls, it made sense and a good style choice for the book just not for my reading taste.

I absolutely loved the end which was a great cliffhanger! The lead up to that was emotional but made sense for the story and im interested in seeing how the girls navigate this newest hurdle.

Overall a clever, inventive and sweet story that continues to explore the notions of faith and the support it can provide in such extreme circumstances.

I thoroughly enjoyed this YA paranormal fantasy, as it focuses on issues not only faced by teenagers but by all humanity. What happens after we die? Or do we? - die that is. Witnessing the evolution of the two main characters shows (in my opinion) the importance of the choices we make everyday and this is where our power lies - in our choices. Specifically how choosing love changes everything.
I especially love the way Webb develops the strengths and weaknesses of Cassidy and Siena who go from hostile acquaintances to loving friends.
S.M. Webb has a writing style that draws you in and makes one want to know more. I found myself crying at one point in the story. To me, this is good writing if one can evoke that great of an emotional response.
And then the CLIFFHANGER! AHHHHHHH! Can’t wait for the next book!
Bravo!

This book haunts me. Literally.

More than exploring what happens after you die, this is a book that also builds on powerful thematic elements of trust, love, friendship, and grief. Webb has created a world that is so unique, yet she draws on familiar tropes and makes them enchanting.

The relationships that are built are expertly crafted, the world itself so big and full of so many incredible elements that if I could spend a whole day in it, I would. I particularly LOOOVVVEEEE the way Webb builds the 'realms' up, along with the court that oversees souls and their actions. Absolutely wicked.

And. The. Ending. When I tell you that I GASPED. I had to physically get up and walk away from the story to deal with all the emotions. A top all time ending for me. I'm getting chills just thinking about it again.

Can't wait for book 3!!! ♥️

A round of the applause for SM Webb who has done it again! She wrote a novel that pulled me in so deeply I felt a million emotions!

The second instalment of the Spirited series was amazing! The plot picked up beautifully where the first book left off and I love that the author gave little reminders of what happened in the first book so if you’re a reader like me who doesn’t always read series one after the other, you will remember what happened.

Sienna and Cassidy continue to be wonderful characters and stay true to who I remember them to be. They both fo through growth, but they don’t lose the essence of who they are in that growth. I think they are very well done.

The plot of this book.

Oh my goodness!

I spent a lot of this book stressed because (potential small spoiler) I thought something was going to happen to Bruce. And while I learned about Bruce’s past and what makes him tick, and his behaviour toward the end of the novel felt spot on for him, the author threw a massive curveball! I was NOT expecting that ending and I’m just floored at how she threw my expectations! So well done!

Also! We learned pretty much all the soulmate connections. I predicted the one at the end of the book in the first book, but now that it’s been building up for two books, I’m very excited for the kiss! It’s going to be epic!

If you’ve not read this series… why not? It’s seriously so freaking good! The writing style is so well done, and it’s a perfect YA fantasy!

THIS BOOK!

Sorry for the shouty capitals, but Spirited 2 is by far my favourite YA series!

The character development is on point, and, even secondary characters get the attention they deserve.

As the reader I found myself pulled in by the complexity of each character and just when I thought I had them figured out, plot twist of epic proportions.

S.M. Webb has flexed her storytelling muscles with Spired 2, and she left me dangling on the edge with the cliffhanger at the close of this book.

I can’t wait for book 3!

“No One Ever Dies.”

If you enjoy YA Fantasy with a deeper spiritual message that also entertains, this series is for you. I greatly enjoy this author’s writing style, voice and eloquence, along with the imaginative story telling and book two continues to deliver. As always, I applaud the most important message imparted in this series: No one ever dies. It was an emotional read for me personally, exploring the questions and the grief of the two main characters, Cassidy and Sienna, are working through. Yet it was fun to see them developing on their journey. I find the realism of all the characters satisfying as this is important to me for a story to be immersive. She pulls you in with their insightful scenes. I rarely cry reading books but this one … it grabbed my heart in so many scenes … so yes, okay, I did cry a couple times (especially reading the last chapter.) What a powerful ending! And what a twist! Most of all I enjoyed the soulmate journey of this sequel because it’s my favorite trope to read. Five stars! Wish I could give it more.

I look forward to Spirited, Book Three and finding out what happens!

I read Spirited Book II: Too Late? and was blown away. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book and immediately with excited ease jumped back into Cassidy and Sienna's journey. S.M. Webb did not disappoint in answering plot twists and adding new characters that fit in perfectly with the story. One new character is so wicked he's kind of likable. :)

If you enjoy YA Fantasy this series is for you. The writing is brilliantly powerful. As a reader, you want and need all the emotions that keep you turning the pages. Well done S.M. Webb!!

What crushed me was the CLIFFHANGER!! I can't wait for the third book!
