I love this book! I’ve read everything from this author and I have to say that this is the best one yet. She did such a great job of keeping us involved while not revealing who the culprits really were until the very end. I thought I knew two or three times before she finally gave us the answer. She did wonderful and twisting and turning to keep us guessing.
I did receive an advance copy of this book so I could read and review it.
From the first word to the last, the intensity of this storyline held me captive! So many vividly described characters, so many pieces of the puzzle, each waiting to be put in it’s place, one can’t help but expel a long breath, thinking that finally the big picture is evident. But wait! There’s more? Oh yes, more suspicion, more danger, more accelerated heartbeat, and yes, even a bit of romance intertwined through it all! What a story! I eagerly await this author’s next endeavor!
This was a great Christian based mystery. All the characters make you think about choices in life. All without making it over the top. The mystery was really good. I read it in 2 days. Gotta sleep sometime.
I really liked this book. It has great characters that get thrown together for greed and good. It has a great ending that I didn’t see coming. It was well written and edited.
I really enjoyed this book! Lots of suspense, surprises, clear faith message, and romance! Old friends, new friends, and then there were the bad guys, but who could they be? I didn’t figure it out! This is the second in a series, but it can be read as a stand-alone. I can’t wait to read the next one!
I enjoyed this book, but found it a little hard to follow. I was never really sure where the characters lived or how the children fit into the story. The subject was interesting and kept me involved. I liked that the characters supported each other with prayer. Good story!
This second book in Sherri Kukla's Romantic Suspense series packs quite a punch! After reading Suspicious Minds, I was excited to see some familiar faces in this follow-up. This time deputy Griffin Black is the main character. After helping his friend in the previous book, it's interesting to get to see the story from his perspective as he returns to work and his new role as the local Homicide Detective.
Dry Bones Calling takes readers on a wild-ride with some surprise twists along the way! This book is a bit heavier than the previous one, although murder is pretty bad, and might make some readers uncomfortable. It does deal with trafficking (organs), and while the author does a good job in her attempt to keep it as ungory and vague as possible, there are still mentions of the trade and some of the things that go on as a part of the vile cycle.
I ended up enjoying this one even more than the previous book, although both were interesting and refreshing in a genre that can at times start to feel stale and overdone. The dialogue is a little stilted, and sounds strange or less-than-natural at times. It's only really noticeable from time to time, and seems to be mostly when the main characters interact with certain other characters. There were also plot holes, nothing that affected the main story over much, but still there for readers like me that tend to notice those. These two things kept it from reaching it's full potential, but we still have a fun story and a twisty mystery to solve!
I can also see some encouraging improvement from the writing of the first book and this one, and I'm interested in seeing if that trend continues in the next book. I'm also kind of excited since they take yet another approach to the genre, and while this one is different from the first as well, the next one sort of flips it all on it's head? Fun times!
I'm so glad I found this series, and really enjoyed seeing how this story was going to play out. The characters were good, the plot kept me guessing, and I really enjoyed the last several chapters as we get to see what happens. It was a lot of fun seeing how all the pieces were going all fit in the end. The romance in this one was also different from the norm, and I liked seeing the characters grow in their faith as they navigate this difficult aspect of their lives along the way.
