Lettie “Lettie Bug” Scott and Dane Greathouse have been friends since they were in first grade. Her address is her Granny's trailer on the property of the Greathouse’s. But in the five-bedroom mansion, Dane’s mom gave her a room of her own. She stayed there more times than not. Quirky genius friend of Brooke that we all got to meet in the last book and grew to love. She stole our hearts with her undying love for Dane, and when he was caught in the fire that Reed saved him from, it bonded them even more.
However, the two still didn't have enough backbone to ask the other for more. But they hated seeing each other in the arms of another. Time was running out. It was their senior year; things were becoming more demanding in their lives. She was on the Stallion’s equestrian team, hopefully on her way to the Olympics. Dane was on the Stallion's basketball team, not to mention all his endorsements, practices, games, his father’s events, his father's run for office, volunteering, etc.
Here’s the problem. His father was becoming extremely demanding. The more he became submerged into his US Senate campaign, the more he was pressing Dane to do more. Be more. Be better. So after the semi-relaxed summer in Kentucky on the property with their families, they return, and things start amping up, but it's one day at a Timber Thrills water park and Lettie on another date with one of his teammates. This teammate, it turns out, has a drinking problem and nearly gets the whole group kicked out.
Not to mention Nick attempted to grope Lettie’s ass. She had turned her back on him and his awful behavior. Nick, pissing off the side of the platform. He yells, “What else was I supposed to do? I know I’m not the first to pee here. I can’t lose my place in line.” Security realizes he’s with the rest of the tall guys, so they come to us and say, “Is he with you?” Devon says, “Unfortunately.” “Well, he’s banned from entering Timber Thrills for the year. So, I guess one of you will have to go with him.” “We came in a bus, and he can get there on his own,” Devon responded.
“F-you. Some teammates you claim to be. What happened to We Are One?” Nick spews their basketball team motto. Devon got up in his face. “Because you need to learn a lesson. How to represent our college and how to treat women.” Dane placed himself between them. “Nick, we'll see you on the bus.” Lettie didn’t say a word to him, turned her back, and crossed her arms, talking to the others. Both Lettie and Dane hated being there with other people. Not that Hanah wasn’t nice; she was, but... Then came the mystery kiss. Did he or didn’t he? Such a good story. See if they can make it work even when someone throws a wrench into their life-plan together.
