Quarantine #1

Quarantined

Rate this book
A gripping, friends-to-lovers-to-enemies, dark romance.

New York City—not for the faint-hearted or the sweetest of souls. The last thing I expected was to be back in this city, after all these years. And I definitely did not expect to be back in this house, where it all started. I have spent years avoiding this place, and the cold hard reality of what happened here.

But I have no choice. We are all quarantined together in this house. It took the end of the world, for me to come back here and face him.

Milo Sinclair.

Once my legal guardian and savior in life. The person who saved me from drowning in loneliness. Who gave me everything I ever wanted. But then he took everything away from me. Plus interest. He broke me. He will not break me again.

THIS IS BOOK 1 OF A THREE-PART SERIES AND NOT A STANDALONE.

*Dark romance is subjective. Some readers have found this book to be a light read while others were sensitive to the discussions about the pandemic, mental health issues, mature new adults, and dubious situations. Milo isn’t a normal romance hero, and might not be considered a hero at ALL. So, please don't read if any of that offends you.*

WARNING: This is a DARK romance, that contains triggers, including dubious consent and virus outbreak, that some readers might find offensive. This is only a work of fiction intended for a mature audience only. The author does not condone the behavior depicted.

4.5 stars- Noncon/dubcon deliciousness

The opening scene was intense👀… if you cannot read noncon/dubcon scenes, then this book is NOT for you- steer clear!!! Now me, I LOOOOOVE me a man that doesn’t let anything stop him 😉. There’s something so captivating about a man that knows his woman better than she knows herself, which means that he doesn’t know what the word no means 😈🔥 even if she “means” it, he’ll do anything to… um… PERSUADE her 😈🔥🥵.

This book starts off right after the quarantine starts in March 2020. Raven’s (21) moving back home after being gone for years. Milo’s (25) the only one there, so she tries to be courteous and friendly yet also puts up a wall. I got the sense that there was an underlying history between them even though nothing was spoken about the past. It isn’t until Raven decides she’s going upstairs that Milo‘s true nature comes out, and this is where the noncon begins😅👀

The book then goes into the past, when both Milo (17)and Raven (14) were younger . We get the background info on Raven’s family history; both her parents aren’t present in her life. Her mother pursues a career in clothing and modeling while her dad is in different countries (Doctors without Borders). Because of this, she ends up moving in with Milo’s family. Milo’s mom is depressed and his dad works job after job in order to maintain their lifestyle. Milo ends up being the legal guardian of not only his two younger siblings, but also of Raven’s. He’s only three/four years older than Raven and Reid, but he’s the most responsible one that could care for them.

As time passes and they grow up, Raven and Milo become attracted to each other. It might seem that Raven’s fascination with Milo is based on the fact that she wants parental guidance and acceptance since she’s missing it in her life, but it becomes more than that. Milo feels guilty since she’s younger than him and he’s in a position of power- he’s her legal guardian- but it becomes inevitable as they get older.

Once she’s 17, they share an innocent kiss that ends up transforming their feelings into something solid❤️. Time passes and then… then Milo realizes that he only wants Raven… and it’s time she finds out just how much 😅😉😈🥵🔥. Their connection… their chemistry… their passion is so damn delicious! She says no, she hesitates, but Milo knows EXACTLY HOW to convince her💦🔥. His mouth, his tongue, his fingers, his d… and it’s ALL about her pleasure. He ONLY wants her… so when she says NO, he bulldozes and does what he wants (and she too I guess 😈)- exhaustingly so 😅. She keeps resisting, and he knows why- and he doesn’t care 👏🏻😈💁🏻‍♀️.

I love me a man that goes after what he wants 🤷🏻‍♀️💅.

The CLIFFY!!!! Gahhhh. I was left with my mouth open- even with the revelation that Milo’s sister made to Raven😳😬! Good thing the series is complete 👀.

Why 4.5 stars? The writing style was sometimes jarring to me- like “I am… she is… he is… etc” versus “I’m… she’s… he’s…” I needed it to be smoother. In normal conversations, we don’t talk that way.

I need to see what happens once the family finds out 👀 (ETA- I’ve read book 2 already, but I still need to read book 3)

nothing gets my engine revved more than a COVID love story 😍

interestingly enough COVID wasn’t a large part of this book. that’s likely because it’s almost entirely a flashback into the hero and heroine’s relationship progression years before COVID started. btw, it remains true that i can’t stand when books are predominantly a flashback. especially since i got sucked into the book during the prologue—

“Stop it unless you want to get punished!”
“Get off me right now, or I will do it again.”
“Then, I guess you want to be punished.”

plot wise, there isn’t really one. raven (h) and milo (H) basically have the worst parents in history. to break it down:

➵raven’s mom divorced her dad and moved to Paris or some shit. her dad is highly neglectful and only cares about his work. neglectful to the point she’s left in a house without electricity or food
➵raven’s dad decides to go to Africa to volunteer for Doctors Without Borders and signs over his parental rights to milo’s parents
➵surprise surprise, milo’s dad gets a job offer in the Cayman Islands, so he can no longer take care of any of his children or raven. this shit is so dumb
➵so he signs over his parental rights to milo…who’s 18 fucking years old. so at 18 years old, he’s not only legally responsible for raven but unofficially responsible for his brother and sister. in case you’re wondering, milo’s mom doesn’t do shit to help and doesn’t even appear in the story

@ their parents:

like literally what the fuck is this shit??? how can their parents just fucking abandon them like that 💀 an 18 year kid should not be responsible for 3 minor kids???

moving on, milo and raven have known each other forever because raven is best friends with milo’s younger brother. raven always had a crush on milo and milo always lusted after raven, but he hid it because she was underaged

i really need to stay this, the writing was horrendous. but it’s worth mentioning this was this author's first work EVER and i recently read Lust by her and her writing was MUCH improved so 👍

this doesn’t mean I’m not gonna make fun of some of the lines in this book—

'I also know, depression is not a luxury a parent can afford.'

'Raven is so gorgeous, even fatness couldn't suppress her fierce beauty.'

i’m convinced Drethi Anis is afraid of apostrophes because she avoided contractions like they’re COVID-19

like girl, you aren’t writing a research paper, you can say “i’m” instead of “i am” 😭

back to the plot/romance itself, the book got better the more obsessed milo became with raven.

“All this time, you were too busy to return my calls and messages. I didn’t send you to Paris to spend your summer on your knees to blow assholes.”

him getting jealous because she gave a guy she met in Paris blowjobs 🤪🤪

the last 15% of the book, raven started pulling away from milo because she had this notion that he only wanted her for sex and that he didn’t mean it when he said “i love you”. she also kept mentioning that she viewed milo as her guardian...like girlie that's not what you should be calling the man you've been fucking

in turn, milo starts taking raven’s refusals as an invitation—

“You are such a confused little girl," he yells, as he shakes me. "You don't know what you want. You need me to tell you what you want, like always.”

the rape scenes were hot af not even gonna sugar coat it. i originally was going to give this 2 stars until the smut started getting spicy af—

He pushes two fingers inside me as he bites my neck and breasts. I am sobbing and crying, and Milo is kissing my tears, telling me how much he loves me.

raven starts avoiding milo by sleeping in his sisters room he manipulates her into sex by threatening to fuck her on his little sisters bed 😍—

“I’d rather fuck you in my bed, but if you are going to be this difficult, I will happily fuck you in this hallway, or your bed, hell even in Mia’s bed. Choose an option.”

or even his parents—

“…Disappoint me tonight, and you will see how much I don’t care about what other people think. I will fuck you in front of my parents if that’s what it takes to show you. It’s your call.”

goshhh obsessed heroes are my shit and i'll be continuing the series because this ended on such a messy note i can't wait 🤪

"I knew you would remember. Your body always remembers that you are mine. You will always be mine."

Nope. If anything, it’s the opposite. Time has only fed my obsession with her.

As I said, I am not a good man. I chant my daily mantra; I can’t do this to Raven. Even as I make my promises to stay away, I know I won't.

Story

*I must say this story is very similar to Corrupt Idol; they were almost identical initially before converting into different stories. But this story portrays -why it comes to this point– in a more detailed way.

*This is the story of Milo 25 and Raven 22; their parents are close friends, Raven also becomes a part of Milo’s family, and at some point, Milo becomes her legal guardian. Raven adores and idolizes Milo from the beginning, Milo also shares a deep connection with raven, first more elderly but later romantically also, they become each other’s World. But all the reasons for them not to be together cause Raven to take a step back, but her refusal awakens something monstrous in Milo; their pure relationship starts to shatter and begins to turn into toxic, sick, obsessive love!

I am feeling out of control with confusion. But I can’t deny him, not when he is crumbling. Everything I am is because of him.

Even as he is inside me, I am a sucker for his compliments. It distracts me from the pain. I forget about the burning sensation and moan as he sucks on my ear lobe.

Footnotes

This story started as a love story. Soft, romantic, and lovely, but it slowly turned into a horror. I really like how the author gives this change in their relationship. It’s not every time that I can see a problematic lead's reasons for being what he is rather than just knowing he is that. Here, I can actually experience the shifts in Milo’s character and his change of heart about Raven due to particular events.
On the other hand, I can also experience/see how Raven’s thoughts shape into something else, how she becomes so helpless and indecisive towards Milo.

Eye Roll

I wouldn’t say I like Mia. And how old is she again? I mean, there were times I thought she was 7, 11, 17, or whatever; never once could I be sure what her real age was. For example, her speech to Raven sounded like coming from an older person than she is. Like it didn’t make sense that she could make these observations and that speech on her own. It annoyed me so much.

Overall

*I loved this book, it was a great read.

*This book also addresses the Covid pandemic. It takes place at that time, so I am happy that the author didn’t exclude this horrifying reality.

*This book was a romance, then it was dark, and I am a person who loves dark and romance reads separately, and this book offered them in a heterogenic way, which was great!

*I have a word for that Cliff/Hint in the end. I don’t like the Kissing Booth vibe coming up from it nor where it’s headed. That’s NOT the case. That’s NOT the problem in here. NO NO and another NO!

*This book is KU, so it’s not fair that the next one isn’t…

Dark Triggers: Romance Story turned Horror Story, Nonconsent, Dubious-Consent, Sick + Obsessive love, Taboo, Abuse

"...I can't live without you. I love you. I love you so fucking much. I don't know how to make it stop. I feel like the only way it would, is if I rip my fucking heart out."
...
"In that case, you are doing the most heinous things in the name of love. If you love me so damn much, how can you do what you did?"

You know what? I think about this toxic ass series enough that I'm changing my rating on the first two books. Milo's insane ass telling her he's gonna fuck her in front of their parents to prove his love to her? 5 Stars ⭐️

Original Review:
3.5 Stars

The title had originally put me off, but this was a lot better quality than I thought it'd be. For some reason I thought it was gonna be on the cringe spectrum somewhere around 365 Days and Fifty Shades, but it really was not like that at all. I don't know why I thought that. I mean just the complicated family dynamics and the heroines baggage and parent issues were very well done.

If you’re searching for love, romantic love is not the way to go. All the marriages in my immediate vicinity are indicative of destruction. However, all of the friendships in my life are indicative of true love. Romantic love is conditional, but friendship and familial bonds are unconditional.

Not her damage matching my damage 👯‍♀️

description

When Milo told her she's so emotionally damaged he doesn't know how to reach her I was t r i g g e r e d d d d d. I did not ask for that kind of self-reflection today okay 🤚🏽

The reason I can't fully sort out of my feelings on this book though is the characters. The heroine, Raven, is very likable, mature, and relatable. She was sometimes so mature and overly-reasonable that I caught myself thinking that she is too emotionally intelligent and then I was like wow.... I'll really find a way to complain about anything huh. Someone shut me tf up 🙃 Do you ever exhaust yourself?

description

You can tell I'm nitpicking here, but the only way I can describe my qualms is sometimes the heroine is so formal with her dialogue it sounds like she's speaking her work emails out loud. Like she speaks to people in that robotic, slightly passive aggressive way you speak to a coworker who you don't really fuck with, if that makes sense.

description

And Milo, oh, crazy, insane, Milo. How I don't understand you. As a surprise to no one, it's not the rapey/obsessive behavior that's holding me back from fully liking Milo, it's his personality. There are two sides two him. One I don't understand and the other makes me wanna catch some zzz's. When I think of Milo's character development through this story from beginning to end, and how things escalated, I still don't understand how we got to the end point, even though I read it all and didn't question anything as I read it. I know this doesn't make sense, and I am confused by my own confusion, but yeah his obsession just really crept up on me so I'll be praying for this girl.

In the end I am excited for the Reid development, not bc I ship them but just cause I'm always here for some mess. I always think I don't like love triangles but then the jealousy and toxicity of one starts and I get ready

Thanks to Jade Violet and her intriguing updates which brought this new author to my attention! It's a must read dark romance.

'He might be enveloped with an angel's face, but he is darkness, and he made my life dark. He is Lucifer, the devil himself, disguised beautifully to trick mortal women. He is my worst nightmare.'

Milo (25), is a enigma, he is one kind of hero whom I cannot figure out. He is the perfect definition of a good son, brother and lover.
Raven (22), is a sweet girl who has grown up neglected among her parents.

'From what I understand of this psychopath, his fixation on me comes from my rejection. Women throw themselves at him. I didn't have the same interest in him. Given that I wasn't even one-tenth as beautiful as the girls he brought around, I think it irked his huge ego.'

The prologue (which is the present of the story) showed us what is happening. After that the story takes us to the past. 16-years-old Milo takes care of his younger brother and sister for his mother is mentally depressed and his father works hours and hours to keep the roof over their head. Their father's best friend comes back to the city after a divorce along with his daughter Raven (she was 13-years back then). She was born to parents who didn't want children hence she was alone and sad when her father forgets her existence most of the time. Milo aware of this and tries to invite her in his house and include her with his siblings so she won't feel left out. As they grow up Milo is assigned as their (Milo's brother, sister and Raven) legal guardian. Milo was the epitome of perfectness, I wondered where is the dark part of the story and what turned the past Milo to this present Milo who is complete the opposite.

'This is true. Milo might have started our sexual relationship. But every time my parents rejected me, I sought out Milo. Our physical connection is this crazed magnetic pull that never dies down. But that’s it. Attraction and sexual satisfaction. I took comfort in his arms and in the oblivion he provided.'

Raven has always idolized Milo for taking care of her. To her he was her everything. When one day after returning from Paris (Milo's belated birthday gift to Raven) their feelings are expressed after years of holding it. I don't understand Raven's feelings clearly, she kind of goes back and forth with her confessions. And Milo's love is obsessive kind of love. Raven has always seeked out Milo whenever she is sad, lonely and felt rejected.

"Because I trusted you,” I try to speak evenly. “I went along with it because I didn’t think you would ever steer me wrong. We both made a mistake.”
“Keep telling yourself that. You love me, but you’re too scared of what people will think. I can’t do it like you can, Rave. I can’t sacrifice what I want, in fear of what people will think.”

I'm not putting it mildly when I'm stating Milo is obsessive. He threatened to fuck her infront of his parents just to prove his love. They are held back (mostly Raven only) of their forbidden relationship. Milo is her guardian and Raven is a minor (she was 17 and Milo 20). They are always rudely awakened from their fantasy.

'Being with her is this potent, mind-boggling, addicting dosage of cocaine. One hit and I was hooked. Food, money, life, success, friends, family; there is nothing I won’t sacrifice. There is nothing I can prioritize in my lust-filled sick mind, that's worth stopping this madness for. Nothing placates me till I am inside her.
No matter how many times I have been with her, I just want more. It’s this sickening addiction, that's getting worse every time I am with her. My body has built up a tolerance. I need more of her to get the same high.'

I enjoyed this story. I'm in a mess and crazy for not understanding the H and h. One moment I like the H and h and in the next I don't like them. It's like with a dictionary or therapist session is not enough for them to understand each other even I don't understand them even though I know both side of their thoughts! This author has the talent to make good stories. In a way I was addicted to H and h's fights. Of to start the next book after that crazy cliffhanger my mind is stuck at.

I STRUGGLED through this book.

We’re told that the h is super mature but I couldn’t see that ever demonstrated. She was a hot mess of conflicting motivations and actions. I know I’m supposed to think Milo is an antihero, but I thought Raven was harder to like. Her emotions were all over the place. And her inner monologues were so very cringe. Total buzz kill during the sex scenes. There’s nothing sexy about having sex because your self esteem is in the crapper and you are grateful to the dude for being nice to you. Or doing it out of guilt or pity. 👀🥴 She was in desperate need of therapy.

And Milo? I liked him overall. I loved the scene were he lost his sh*t when he found out how she learned to give a bj. Best scene of the book, in my opinion. 🤷🏼‍♀️ But the way the h just seems to pity him and truly not want to be with him… it gave me second hand embarrassment for him. He came off as a desperate sad sack, rather than a ruthless male in control.

I am the target audience for this. I love dubcon and noncon, but the way this is written just fell flat for me. I prefer the worst of the noncon to happen early and then the relationship evolves… but in this, the longer the book went on, the more toxic their relationship became and the less I liked either character. Raven truly seemed to despise him by the end. And dude was just pathetic. That’s not much fun for me.

I didn’t understand the way they felt they needed to hide their relationship. I sort of understood that they wouldn’t want to upset Reid… but anyone else??? I mean, Milo is only TWENTY. He’s a college student. Yes he acts like he’s 40, but he wasn’t. He’s not even old enough to buy his own drinks. 🙄He was basically just the teen left in charge. There was nothing remotely taboo about their relationship and I was really confused why they were acting like it was scandalous. They aren’t even step siblings. She’s just the girl that stays with them. And there’s only 3 years between them. So, the premise just didn’t deliver the angst for me. I wasn’t buying it.

And lastly…. I just didn’t feel their connection. I didn’t understand why he liked her and her attachment to him was In question too… because she liked him, til she didn’t. It was just confusing. I think she had more chemistry with Reid. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Bottom line? After confirming that the h sleeps around in the next book, I think I’m ending my journey here. 2.5 stars cuz I liked Milo’s jealous freak out before they have sex the first time. 😅

First time published author with a fantastic book. Quarantined first came under my radar from a friend; the author lost her job due to Covid-19. Then wrote a book, and part of the proceeds of the book go back to people who were effect by Covid-19. I downloaded the book without reading the blurb and went in blind—one of my best decisions.
Quarantine is a dark romance. Heed the warning of triggers. From the first few pages are triggers for some.

I loved the storyline. Quarantined starts in the preset as Ravena ( love her name) Pov. Then we go back to the past between Raven and Milo's POV. We see how their story through the years evolves, how Milo became Raven's hero when her parents were not there. Then we see how they are present. Wow is all I am going to say, and what a cliffhanger. I cannot wait for book two.

I’m sick and twisted and I’m not the only one.
God Milo, your love feels like the moonlight illuminating Raven . I absolutely adore how crazily in love you are.

This book starts off in the present where we meet Milo and Raven. There’s this tension around them. I hated Milo in the first scene but then I got to know the young Milo and I now understand him.

Raven. Good luck with this man!

2.5 stars.

Writing was terrible. The heroine was as deep as a shallow pool and there were too many mentions of the hero's past sexual experiences. Also, nothing about this book had anything to do with covid or quarantining. This should be labeled a prequel. Won't continue with the next book.

Safety:
Heroine is a virgin. Hero is a previous manwhore.
Rape/dub-con. I think it was more on the rape side.
Heroine is a minor (17) when the Hero starts pressuring her to have sex.
Hero is the heroines leagal guardian but i still dont know how the math added up for that to happen.
No OW/OM drama for the most part
No cheating after they get together

Holy shit.
HOLY SHIT.
Ho-lee-shit.
If I were a crack addict, I just got myself a fix. A fix and a fucking half.
i was not expecting the insane alpha-ness that is Milo. I loved it.
He's bad. And obsessed. And also good. And mostly --- off his rocker with how he feels about Raven.
But I SO get him.

The way the author introduced us to Milo, you can absolutely appreciate how he became this way. He's endured so much. He deserves to have just this one thing!
And same for Raven - I got her.
I loved her. I understood all that she was feeling and why she felt that way. After all, she's endured so much, too!

I can't wait to see where this goes.
It's more than a smutty dark romance (though it has all sorts of delicious smut with noncon and dubcon too)

It's got depth to it that - for me as an author - I seriously SERIOUSLY dig.

I am tickled about digging into book two even though I know I'm going to be whining like a big baby when it ends because I'm sure it's another cliffy and I love to hate and hate to love cliffies. Yeah yeah... I know I've left a reader hanging a time or two so I'll suck it up. I'll still whine though.
;p

So the vibes are that this book sets us up for the forced proximity quarantine vibes of book 2 with a looming past between the MCs. This book shows all the events leading up to the “present” which is March of 2020 when the stay-at-home orders were placed, forcing the reluctant h to be around H again.

H (3 yrs older) raised his younger brother & sister along w h. h is a longtime family friend, neighbor, & bff w H’s brother (who is same age as h).

Side mf note — HATE when books reference “real life events” (like when pop culture is referenced). Ugh, I’d rather if it just said “quarantine” & even tho we know it’s alluding to Covid the book doesn’t acc say it. Idk something ab it is so cringy to me 😭😭

VIBES ✅: forbidden, sneaking around, are each others safe place, changing dynamics, family, forced proximity, h tried rejecting H

Twas good! Was a little bit of a slow read bc it was (sorta) similar to Corrupt Idol, which I just read.

Def hits on the development later in the story amping it up for book 2. [that very last paragraph 😫😫 ughhhh was waiting for that ever since it came up]🔥

It was a good forbidden, we shouldn’t be doing this read. Both characters have flaws influencing some of the tension in addition to outside conflicts.

Overall, enjoyable & picked up near end. 100% think book 2 will be better. 🖤

Very fun read with an obsessive and possessive H bordering on abuse, something really scary.
However, the writing let me down a bit in certain respects. The story felt repetitive, with a little too much self-talk.

For some reason, this book rubbed me the wrong way, and it’s not even the rape part that did it... I can’t even put my finger on it.

Anyhow, reading the book’s blurb, I did laugh when COVID-19 was mentioned. I laughed because internally I was thinking, “Hell no! I’m reading to forget about the real world, not to get even more embroiled in Corona Virus themes.”

But alas, it said it was a dark romance, and I cannot possibly resist a dark romance.

The opening scene was interesting, and I was gleefully turning the pages to see how Raven (the female MC) will deal with being stuck in the same house as Milo (the male MC), which she hates for good reason.

BUT, the book goes down memory lane, and the rest of the story is a recollection of when they were 13, 14, 15, 16, etc etc - BORING. Yes, I wanted to know how they met and the extent of their relationship in the past, but that could have been succintly done in a couple of chapters, showing some pivotal moments.

But what we get is a storybook of their early teen actions, then mid teens, then later teens... You get the idea.

Milo was actually a great character - he was smart and so mature. After a bit, I was double-guessing myself: did I really read what he did on the first chapter?
Yes, I really did. His ‘inner monster’ came out eventually towards the end. Up until then, I would have called this book a tame romance filled to the brim with lousy sex.

Raven was... I don’t know. Sometimes she came off as a robot. She had emotions, but she didn’t at the same time? I know it makes no sense, but her character was so confusing. Milo describes her as a very intelligent and strong person that is not afraid to say ‘no’, but I did not see that.

Like I said in the beginning, I just didn’t feel it with this one. It could have been the COVID-19 mention, it could have been the rape scene in the first chapter, it could have been the boring childhood details thereafter, it could have been the mentally draining arguments between the two MCs, it could have been Mia-the-bratty-selfish-moronic-younger-sister (I really, really didn’t like her), it could have been the successive rape scenes towards the end... It was probably all of them combined.

Suffice to say, I think I would still pick up the second book as I want to know what happens next. But it might take me some time.

This book started off with a bang and was immediately captivating. A seemingly mild-mannered hero turned into an alpha, coercive a*hole. Fully enthralled by his taboo lady love, he would not take no for an answer. The hero was the heroine's legal guardian though there wasn't much of an age gab between them. The hero had been taking care of his younger brother and sister since his childhood.

This story follows their meeting, growing up, and interaction through a series of flashbacks, until present. The sexual encounters were hot af, dub-con to the max just the way I like it. I could have done with fewer childhood flashbacks as those detracted from the flow and progression of the storyline, sort of like watching windshield wipers. Still, I loved this crazy ass hero who impressed his will upon the heroine.

The book ended in a major cliffhanger, and I can't wait for part 2.

Non-explicit version lol
This book began with a bang and was immediately captivating. A seemingly mild-mannered hero turned into a coercive alpha and would not take no for an answer. This hero was totally enthralled by his lady love for whom he was legal guardian, though there wasn't much of an age gab between them. This story follows their first meeting, growing up, and tumultuous adult interaction described in a series of flashbacks, until present. The sexual encounters were smoldering hot, delivered often with glorious, delicious dubious consent. Still, I loved this story, and I fell in love with the hero who impressed his will upon the heroine. So steamy.

I felt there is too much of inner monologue; it's kinda boring! There is also the case of mixing up of the characters' ages. One minute Mia (H's sister) is 16yrs and the next, she is 13. The age gap between the H & h keeps shifting from 3 to 4 yrs every now and then.
The h lies to the H that she didn't get drunk on her 17th birthday when she was blackout drunk and high. The older H didn't realise that and kisses her. Just wondering how he didn't pick out that she wasn't drunk?!?
Oh, and the h keeps lying over and over to everyone. The h is a compulsive liar with abandonment issues.
On top of everything, the H's younger sister (Mia) shames the h of being in love with the H as he was their legal guardian. Mia confides to the h that their middle brother, Reid, (who is a manwhore) has been in love with h since forever. Great way of showing a girl that you are in love with her!!!
I hated the h for being too clingy.

I didn't hate the second half.

The first half was kinda boring and annoying, especially with all the miscommunication between the two main characters, 🙄 but then it got more interesting towards the latter half.

Milo is definitely fucking unhinged.

But I liked his unhinged behavior...

Omfg....
I just loved this book.

Perfect forbidden love.
The H is the h’s guardian, her best friend, her brother-like, her......everything.
And he loves her like CraZzzzyyyyyy....
And I loved that the h was not desperate. It was all the H doing the pursuing.
Just amazing.
The h was resilient and in denial about her feelings.

Now this is how a forbidden love story is made.
Thank you to this author for this amazing book. You are just amazing.

And for people planning to read this book, be aware, that there’s forced sex scenes and this is a Dark romance. So please if such stuff offends you then please do not read this book and complain about the dubious content.

I’m dying for book 2. I hope it gets released soon.

I read this book first when it was released and decided to do a reread because I wanted to finish the series and I am so glad I did because it was spectacular!
Milo is a young man with way too many responsibilities for someone his age, taking care of Reid and Mia. But then he takes on the role of guardian for Raven while going to university and starting a business. Oh my goodness how this young man doesn’t snap….until he loses his ever loving mind with his attraction to Raven.
That cliffhanger was devastating and I need to devour more ❤️

I'm impressed, this is the author's first book. She's very talented and wrote a very good dark romance. I've almost avoided this book due to the title and thinking it's COVID 19 related. But after reading the reviews I understood that it's just in the first chapter.

I'll see if she'll focus more on that subject to decide if I'll continue with the series (Like everyone in this planet I'm tired of this virus, even more bc I'm a MD, I don't want to read about COVID when I try to escape reality!)

Covid-19 dark romance?? Excuse me???
The idea WAS there, just got executed poorly, I can't comprehend what I've read and this book feels like a blur to me.
Help I'm traumatized by the MC by his way of thinking

Reread 2023 Aug - (might feel too bad for Reid to actually reread this )

I absolutely LOVED this crazzzzzy psycho hero and this book! ❤️5 stars, keeper!

You need this if you’re into heroes who are insane and are SCARY Obsessed with the heroine. The road to his madness is gradual, there is a spark when they meet when she’s 13 and over the years we see him going nuts. he’s so fixated on her that when she tries to break it off, he won’t stop. He can’t accept because he’s so in love with her. He’s totally scary jealous and possessive lunatic for her..and this is a dub con romance, you’ve been warn. This dude is Crazy!! 😂

I am serious, read this ASAP and ignore the cheesy title of this book if you love crazy obsessed alpha heroes, it has nothing to do with this story.

Hero, Milo, is only 3 years older than the heroine, but he’s made her guardian when she’s 14 because their dad\mom are fucked up people and are never home. I felt so bad for the hero for not being able to grow up like a normal boy. Imagine, he had to take care of his 2 younger siblings since he was a little boy because his mom is depressed (for years), his dads never home, and then he had to take in his neighbors daughter (h), because her dad pretty much ditched her, and then when he fell in love with her, he can’t date her because he’s her guardian. Just so fucked up!

I felt so sad that because of the way he grew up, he had horrible panic attacks and anxiety and the only thing he wanted -the heroine - didn’t want him. it’s no wonder he became crazy! I can’t wait to read part 2 of their story.

Book ends in a minor cliffhanger.

3 book trilogy. Dark forbidden romance.

Steamy love scenes.

Safety gang

No cheating
4 year separation.
Hero is faithful celibate throughout the entire trilogy, even when they’re apart for years, but the heroine had other lovers when they broke up. It’s understandable since she was a virgin before H, and in book 2, she says she wanted to test her reaction to other men. (from reading other people’s spoilers)

Dub con -non con, not pc story! This means when she says no to sex, get off me asshole, no stop, etc, he goes right in seducing her into an orgasm and has his way with her anyway! If this is a trigger, you should avoid this.
