Leia writes edgy and emotional stories in Dark Reverse Harem Romance. She enjoys crafting flawed heroes with a dark side and strong women who hold their own.
I loved the first two books and was all set to love this one too . However the author had Joonah cheat with Caleb no rhyme or reason . It added nothing to the story other than ruin the relationship for me . When things got tough J cheats and continued to cheat when they are reunited with Aurora. Left me doubting that he really is in the relationship
This is book three in the Walking With Monsters series and Jonah, Killian, Asher, and Aurora are going to need to step it up and Burn It Down if they want to come out on top!
This. This is the dark romance RH/WC that I can completely class as elite.
The characters each hold a special spot of my soul after reading this. The intelligence. The empathy. And the sheer understanding for each other, has this sitting so far above most books I’ve read this year. ( the love and care reminds me of how I felt when I first read Losers).
Where most why choose fall victim to OW drama and outside elements of persons making ridiculous decisions or it becoming almost unbelievable, this author shows the intelligence of her writing in the form of every single character, how they deal with the mechanics of their relationships and how they deal with everything dark and twisted that happens and show that they’re not the naive 20 year olds you reading in most university/academy based novels, the emotional intelligence of all the characters is another level.
The plot it’s self is brilliant, all be it dark at times and heartbreaking, at no point did I feel like I was just reading a WC/RH that is just smut with a background plot. The plot is the true drive for the romance and I love how that made it such a full and encompassing trilogy.
i feel the same about this one as i do the first two. i wish there weren’t so many phrases that the author chooses to use in everyone’s narration.
if you’re going to write a book that shifts pov between 4+ people, then you need to make sure they all have their own inner voice. and they all use the same “fucking well” sentences, even including revenant, who is not part of the core group that spends all their time together.
and i’m still tired of “a beast of a thing.” they’re just such distinct phrases and they’re all overused.
but generally, i love these characters because i love the way they relate to each other. i love jonah more than anything in this world. i love how solid the relationships in this book are, and i love watching asher reassure everyone that he loves them, even when he’s trying to make too many heavy handed decisions for them.
i still think that most of the sex scenes are deeply unsexy, but that might just be a me thing.
however, i’m also very curious about caleb, so i’m probably gonna read the other series when it comes out, even though i’m sure it’s gonna have some of the same things that bugged me about this one.
Jonah cheats. There’s not warp around or anything about it. It’s 100% cheating.
There are sooooooo many filler conversations and words. Honestly this trilogy could have been a duet. I started skimming around 45% and trying to figure out my next read
That’s why this gets such a low rating. Great story. But there was no TW for cheating and it got boring.
Im not enjoying this book, I know it’s never been stated but I got the vibe especially by the end of the second book that they were kinda exclusive with each other - but no Asher was/is kidnapped and being tortured and abused and Jonah just had to go get fucked by a toothbrush (and then suck it, which is so so gross fyi - like there’s so much bacteria EW, not sexy at all!!) and then kinda get fucked by the other guy, which just pissed me off. If you’re worried about ash cry or punch a wall or something. Also considering they kinda thought aurora was dead only Kill was sort of sad about it, Jonah didn’t particularly seem all that arsed. Obviously she’s not dead, but it’s not until like 40% of the way through they actually decide to look for her, it just feels very non genuine and like there’s no real feelings for her at all, like she’s just a fuck toy, I’m not getting much emotional - I love you - vibes even though they’ve all said they love her. I mean there’s still half the book to go but honestly this is just a disappointing reverse harem for me, it feels very much like aurora is an interloper in a m/m threesome relationship, which would be fine but it’s not marketed as that, just that there is some m/m - I like my harems to be obsessed with the girl with some m/m in but not like the focal point, not to mention some of this sex is an bacterial infection in the making, the sex scenes could be written wayyy better.
Okay I’ve finished the book. What’s with all the darkness this and darkness that yet it’s never very dark. The sex scenes are just recycled and happen in different places, Jonah cheating was gross and nobody was that bothered by it, also Jonah was clearly only in it for ash which is fine but I kinda wish he didn’t try and get with aurora - there’s no chemistry, the ending was totally rushed. Aurora went from being a badass to being like every other girl and being soppy for her guys, the only guy who was like all the way in with her was killian - ugh this book just annoyed me and what’s with all the ughhhhing when they have sex, talk about off putting.
🔥 Book Review: Burn It Down (College Reverse Harem #3) 🔥
This book definitely had its moments! The characters truly hold a special place in my heart—there’s intelligence, deep empathy, and a level of emotional maturity that you don’t always get in college-based reverse harem romances. I loved how the author crafted relationships that actually made sense, rather than just tossing characters into drama for the sake of it. 🙌🏼
The plot? Dark, intense, and not just background noise for the romance. Unlike some RH books that feel like pure smut with a side of story, this one actually had depth. That balance between the dark themes and the love between the characters made it really stand out. And yes… there were definitely some steamy moments. 🔥🔥🔥
💡 What I loved: ✔️ Emotionally intelligent characters who handle things like adults 👏🏼 ✔️ Strong, well-developed relationships—especially Asher constantly reassuring everyone 🥹 ✔️ A plot that actually drives the romance, not just filler ✔️ Jonah. That’s it. Just Jonah. 🖤
🤔 What didn’t quite work for me: ❌ The writing style got repetitive—so many distinct phrases were overused across different POVs. If you’re switching between 4+ characters, they need their own unique voice. ❌ Some of the sex scenes just… didn’t do it for me. Maybe that’s a me thing, but they weren’t as compelling as the emotional parts. ❌ The phrase "a beast of a thing" was everywhere and started to get on my nerves. 😅
Overall, this was a solid conclusion to the series, but it wasn’t perfect. If you love dark, intense RH stories with emotionally intelligent characters, it’s worth the read! And honestly… I’m still curious about Caleb, so I’ll probably check out the next series. 😏
⭐⭐⭐/5 – Good, but not without its flaws!
Would I recommend it? If you’re into mature, emotional RH with a dark edge, then yes! Just be ready for some repetitive writing.
As a series, the storyline was pretty good. The FMC was a little too perfect, which was annoying. She literally embodied all the character traits of all the guys. Perfect in every way for them. Yeah, okay. So, of course they fell in love with her within like a second. It also annoyed me how much she “beamed” at them. Anytime someone smiled at someone else, it was a “beaming” smile. I just started picturing crazy, psychotic and sinister smiles because of it. There was over-use of italics in all the books as well for some reason.
I found it odd that nobody cared about the whole Caleb thing? I mean he wasn’t part of the core group but it’s okay for him to join with some of them?
Also… there were quite a few times when they were getting freaky and I was like, huh?? That is impossible. Unless someone has like, tentacle arms, there is no way that can happen.🐙
Meh. I wanted to see how it ended but I feel the same about this as the others. Although Jonah got significantly more annoying and needy in this book. I usually love M/M relationships in reverse harems but this one just didn’t do it for me by the 3rd book. Jonah was way too obsessed with Asher and I feel like it was more a relationship between Jonah/Asher and Killian/Asher/Aurora. Like yeah Jonah joined in on the group s*x but he also cheated multiple times w Caleb when things were hard soooo that isn’t saying much.
There were also so many grammatical errors, a lot of the phrases were so annoying and half the time you had no idea who the heck was talking and you had to re-read the entire page to figure it out. It got confusing. Honestly, I wouldn’t recommend this book. There are a lot better reverse harems out there. I finished it bc I had too but I could’ve lived without this one.
I actually got tired of making notes about things that just wouldn’t work or didn’t make sense with these books.
It was like the author just forgot things or got in a mood and decided to change how characters did things randomly.
There’s an over abundance of word vomit to get to the actual action and so much repetition of everyone’s thoughts.
Easily could have been one to two books with decent editing, chopping nuance scenes and cutting unnecessary smut.
Over all I finished it because I was curious how it resolve for the characters and apparently that was just for them to drop certain character traits altogether 🙄. Anyways it was ok but it just didn’t do much for me but pass time.
Burn it Down concludes the college reverse harem series with a gripping, intense narrative that explores the characters' darkest struggles. The author masterfully balances darkness and sensuality, creating a captivating story that's hard to put down. Aurora and her men face their demons, leading to a satisfying conclusion that showcases the author's skill in crafting a compelling series. While mature themes are explored, the writing makes it easy to become invested in the characters' journeys. A great ending to a captivating series! And yes! There was some very dirty hotness. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Just know there are very dark elements within this story.
And thar RARELY happens. It was downright gritty, gruesome, nail-biting, triggering (for some), and overall fucking awesome. It has some major dark parts that aren't for everyone. It was non-stop all the way thru. Couldn't put these down and finished all 3 in 2 days. Can't wait to read more from L.K. I haven't been so caught up and intertwined with a series in a while. It had really steamy scene. Aurora's dynamic with Ascher, J and Kil was on point. She wasn't a drama queen. She was straight up badass. If you want to read a thriller/suspenseful/steamy/bloody/keep your attention book, these 3 are it.
4/5⭐️ I appreciated how the series was wrapped up! As I said in my review to book two, there were times where it felt a bit wordy/drawn out but I didn’t leave the book with any unanswered questions. I thought their love story was sweet and was happy for it to end!
I will say that the book description didn’t really match the story to me - I’m glad it was a third book because if it was something fresh - I would have been a touch lost from it!
I liked this book less than the other two in the series but thought it wrapped up nicely.
However, I really hated the whole Caleb situation. There’s actually nothing I hate more than someone joining into the group’s relationship after the harem is established. But he didn’t even join in, him and Jonah just hooked up multiple times. And no one cared? I wasn’t really down with that at all.
FINALLY finished this series. The story and plot were good but there were quite a few grammar and spelling issues throughout all three books. Along with the constant use of the phrase "fucking well." It was fucking well this, fucking well that. I never, ever want to read that phrase again because of how many times it was in this series.
Loved this series. This author is fantastic and look forward to reading more. The characters were great and I’m glad everything worked out. I wasn’t sure how it was going to end, but it worked out. Would love to see more with the side characters
Well, they finally got their HEA! It was a bit rough there for a bit, but everything managed to work out for the best. It was nice that the author mentioned some of the characters going to therapy at the end of everything. That made the characters a bit more relatable
Aurora with her men and close associates goes against the infidels and heretics to finally be free from their parent's mistreatment. Her father locks her in her room because he sees her as his little girl still. Her father hates lovers' fathers. See who is going to win the war.
Not quite the ending I wanted. A bit rushed. Overall this series is absolutely amazing. It's dark. The vibe is different. I'll be recommending this series. Asher is definitely the most interesting character.
The 3rd book of the Walking With Monsters, Burn It Down, ends this series with a bang. This series is dark in a lot of ways, but it is a really good story and the spicy level is pretty high.
Good series, sometimes hard to follow and hard to believe the dramatic change in the characters, but I can see the reasoning for those changes and how love can bring down those wall we all keep.
I liked everything about this book. I’m glad everything worked out. I am going to miss reading about them. I would recommend reading the book to anyone.
