Those are my brother’s words, and if Ryker burns me, I know he’ll say them again. But it’s hard to worry when I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. I wasn’t looking for anyone when I found Ryker, but now that I have him, I can’t imagine anyone else in my life.
I think the feeling is mutual, because his eyes light up like fireworks every time he seems me. We’re always together, and if we aren’t, he’s blowing up my phone with all his texts. Not only is he the kind of man I want, but he fits in with my friends seamlessly. Living on cloud nine, I let my emotions slip and I say those three little words before I can stop myself. “I love you…”
But he doesn’t say it back. Doesn’t say anything, actually. It’s awkward, but I know in a couple days it’ll go back to normal and we’ll just pretend it never happened. But it doesn’t go back to normal…not even after several weeks.
I don’t want my brother to be right—but I think he is.

I am in love with E.L. Todds new series. I love how all the characters are with each other. So caring and so relatable.
Rae is so strong and loving I can't wait to see what's in store for her in the next book, hopefully Zeke. I'm not sure how I feel about Ryker, I'm hoping to learn more of why he's like this in the next book but, I'm team Zeke all the way!!!!
My favorite person in this entire book is Rex!!! He's so dumb I love him!!! He's hysterical, I mean who gets stuck in beads!!! I enjoyed seeing his progression with Kayden since it was beyond obvious in the first book how she felt.
I don't know why I torture myself. I know it has to get worse before it gets better and it kills me every time! Not only did that ending kill me but I'm not even sure where the author is taking this one. I'm not sure where I want her to take it. I'm so torn. I need book 3 ASAP!

Well this a title like that I was sure not be fooled around and I was right! Have you ever got the feeling that sometimes everything is too good to be true and wait for the other shoe to drop? That was my feeling all along this one.
I was a bit disappointed but I wanted more. I wanted to push a little. I felt Ryker a little off, more than that actually. Rae was my hero and I loved how tough, honest and totally sincere she was; loyal to the ones she loved, she stayed true to herself , never beating around the bush.
Just saying … I have a crush on Rex, Rae’s brother. He might give her the time of the day, but his sibling was just endearing, even this all his habits but full of charm and I can’t wait to hear more about him and to see him, like most of his friends falling in love.
Even if I am a pissed a bit between Ryker and Rae, I was glad to have once again the multiple POVS. It gave some rhythm and great balance into the main characters’ passionate and intense journey.
I can’t wait to read the next one, because Rae is a badass and all I want is to see that she will find her match. She’s gonna kick some ass and I’ll be there to see her shine. I really liked how the story was build, the banter is great and this tight-knit group of friends have some interesting stories to come.
Ray of Hope is a continuation of Ray of Light and Rae's and Ryker's continuing love story. Oh there is so much going on in this book. There is no HEA in this book, it’s a continuation of book 1 , so book 2- Ray of Hope just sets up the upcoming book 3 storyline. Rae is just as sassy, smart and sweet as she was in book 1. It is hard to see why Rae loves the hero, Ryker in this book because of how selfish he is. Maybe it is the sex is all he wants from her and she is too blind to see this but maybe other books will soon shed light on what is going to happen between them. Then we have the story of Kayden, one of Rae's BFFs, and Rex, Rae's brother. Their developing story was good to read. The most exciting thing happened toward the end of this book and you will know what it is when you read it but kudos to Rae for doing what she did when she said what she said. This is something I think every woman says when she is so hurt by someone she loved and is ultimately betrayed and/or hurt by. Will Rae stay with Ryker or will she ultimately give up and move on to someone who truly loves her and will give her that love back? I guess book 3 will answers some of this questions.
My Rating: 4. 6 stars ***** "I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***

Please note: This is not a standalone and you need to read Ray of Light first.
Ray of hope continues on from where ROL ledt off and again it's told from Rae's and Rex's POV.
I must admit I was warming up to Rex in this book and we did get a few more chapters from his POV here. I enjoyed his developing relationship with Kayden ( even though he was completely oblivious as to her real motives).
I loved the progression in Rae and Rykers relationship . Despite Ryker being very secretive and closed off to ever opening up about himself or his family I am a complete Team Ryker fan! I loved how he showed Rae and everyone else how much he cared for her and I loved his possessive ways and his need for her to be with him whenever possible.
I love Rae and her strength of character and honesty. Rae has allowed herself to fall for Ryker hook line and sinker, she bares her soul to him and Ryker's reaction and words completely crush her ( and me truth be told). It was a totally unexpected and uncharacteristic reaction by Ryker and I am wondering why.........
Off to read the next book where fingers crossed it works out the way I hope.
This story continues on the path that we all expect. My favorite person in this entire series is still Rex. Rae and Ryker were going strong in the beginning. Rex and Kayden are getting there.I love this group of friends and how tight they are. Each people have their individual relationships and chemistry that I really love. Rae is just as sassy and smart in this book and Rex is just as dumb and adorable in this.Rex was portrayed in a much more sophisticated manner in this book and that I really liked.Ryker had his faults and I thought he could overcome this but the ending proved me wrong. I can’t wait to read the next one, because this book had a much better cliffhanger than the previous one.
SPOILERS! I think the author missed an opportunity to turn this series into a really good read. There were issues that could have been explored with the female lead character...Rae...with her mom's suicide and she could have gone into Ryker's past as well. I think that is truly what ruined the series for me. I felt Ryker was short changed in all of this. I am actually glad he did not end up with Rae...she was incredibly selfish and I was team Ryker all the way. Too much drama and manipulation with Zeke. The book just seemed like immature drama in between sex scenes. I actually skimmed through a lot of the sex because it quit being hot and began being repetitive. I am not a fan of these books at all. I did read five of them before reviewing...wish I didn't. I actually thought book five would unleash the deeper details...didn't happen. Don't get sucked into this nonsense...move on.
Ray of hope by E L Todd is a romance read. There's no way to sugarcoat it.
Ryker dumped me.
Everyone warned me dating him was the wrong decision. But I did it anyway.
Now that it's been three months I'm finally in a good place. I haven't started dating just yet but I know that will happen in time. Finally, I don't think about Ryker anymore.
But when I have a dream about Zeke, a very inappropriate one, I start to wonder things I shouldn't.
And I start to look at him in a way I never have before... This was a fantastic read. Rae is still my favourite character. I love this series. Highly recommended. 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from Erika herself.
These books are terrible if you’re a big reader. Wicked predictable and although it’s listed as a romantic comedy, it’s neither romantic or comedic. If you’re look for an easy read with some decent sex scenes, have at it. Otherwise, steer clear.
The series is supposed to be a romantic comedy but I can’t say that’s the case for all the books, not all of them I found to have a comedy anywhere near it, book one for example. So why did I continue to read the series well honestly because I was on the ARC (advance readers copy) list. I read other books by E.L todd and I can tell you one thing she seem to follow the same format for her characters, they are youthful early 20’s and somehow live very soap opera lives.
Rea , oh Rea….she does what every girl should never do she falls not only the bad boy but her brothers best friend as well in one series. Like I said book 1-5 or Light – Heart focus on the relationship between Rea, Ryker and Zeke. While the characters were easy sometimes I found myself questioning their intelligence. While the books were good and I kept reading, You could easily tell what was going to happen before it happened. So the twists through that series really in fact were not really a twist but still written well enough that I still read on. But by the time you reach book 4 it goes from being on a good streak down to plop. Book 4 was just completely mind-boggling and not in a good way at all. The relationship that formed with Rea and Ryker was hot and steamy. But then Zeke happens and it fell flat for me. It just wasn’t there, you know what mean. That sparks. I didn’t feel it. I didn’t even feel it towards the end. I was so team Ryker and E.L. Todd was so set on Zeke and Rea.
There is a lot of back and fourths in these books, like all of them you’ll find it happening at least once in every book. Throughout the book you don’t find your usual run of the mill problems for young adult. Rea is scientist, Rex ( her brother also the comedic aire in the book) won the lotto and bought a crappy bowling alley, Ryker (guy number) was left his father’s company and is now Rea’s boss and Rex’s friend, Zeke (guy number 2) is a freaking doctor and Rex’s best friend, Kayden and Jessie are the best friends of Rea. Check out my full review -----> https://shealwaysreads.com/2017/10/08...
This story continues on the path that we all expect. Rae and Ryker are getting closer and it seems like they could be in it for the long haul. As most couples tend to do, they don’t talk much about their feelings and about the future, but if you stop to think about it, it’s only been a few months, so why should they right? Instead, they enjoy what they have, and Rae keeps her thoughts to herself. until she doesn’t.
In this second book, we also get to see a bit of the supporting cast get their time to shine. Rae and Zeke have helped Rex remodel his bowling alley so he’s got his swagger back (and some income) and that’s what was missing from his ability to be a great guy (we think).
Then if you think back, Zeke was going to tell Rae how he felt and then chose not to when she started things with Ryker. Well, now he’s met a girl named Rochelle and they seem to be perfect for each other. They are deep into their feelings, they express things in a way that Rae and Ryker don’t, and everyone seems to love her. (except Rex). Remember that he’s the one that knew how Zeke felt about his sister and to change his tune so quick, well he’s not buying it.
And then onto Rex. We saw the beginning of an interesting. thing with him and Kayden in the last book – awkwardness from her and feelings that no one else picked up on (except Ryiker). She takes things into her own hands in this second book in the form of tricking him into being her ‘teacher’ by saying she doesn’t know how to attract or keep a guy, and we all know that this can’t go anywhere but in the WRONG direction.
So, throughout this second installment, we get to see a roller coaster of things happen. GREAT relationships continue, new ones start, things get dicey and then things crash and burn. Hearts are broken and i can’t wait to see how this plays out since we all know how it will end
In the secound book of Ray series by E. L. Todd we have well known charachters. Rae, Rex, Zeke, Kayden and Ryker. What happend with Ryker and Rae? They were fooling around just like in the first book, but Rae wanted more, and she wanted to be in a relationship with Ryker. The book is loaded with sex. Usually I wouldn't mind but Ryker was off. Something about him rubbed me the wrong way. I couldn't tell does he really have feelings for Rae or he just wanted sex. He didn't want to share anything from his private life with Rae, and that sucks. Rae feel in love with Ryker. She wonted more but she didn't want to end up with a broken heart. On the end of the book that happend. Rayker broke up with her as soon as she told him she loves him. What a di*k.
On the other side we have Rex, who is recently drown to Kayden. We all could figure out Kayden was in love with Rex. She had it bad. So when she asks Rex to teach her how to seduce a man and make him feel good in bed, Rex jumps on the train not even thinking about the consequences. I liked their love story much more then the story about Ryker and Rae, because I didn't see the point. They were fuc*ing most of the time.
There is also Zeke. Sweet and smart guy who is in love with Rae. He saw there is no future between him and Rae so he moved on. He wants to settle down because he is tired of meaningless relationships. So when he meets sweet and smart doctor Rochelle, he jumps in a relationship with her and soon they start to use L word.
Honestly I liked the first book a tiny bit more but this was great read as weel. Now I just want to jump on the 3d book in Ray series.
Was wohl wieder an der Übersetzung liegt.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book (given by the author)...
POV: Dual POV (Rae and Rex)
3.5 stars
Possible Spoilers:
Ok so this book was filled with lots of sex, I'm not complaining just stating a fact. We pick up where Ray of Light left off where Ryker and Rae are in a full relationship and Rex's bowling alley is complete and ready to open. I still think Ryker is a little too clingy with Rae but I think it's cute he was making an effort. Unfortunately, things start going down a downward spiral after Rae tells Ryker those three special words.
Meanwhile, Rex and Kayden have started a very steamy arrangement of their own and it's all a dirty little secret.
I wanted to love it but Ryker's complete disregard for Rae's feelings was so cruel. I think there is something going on with his family but instead of trusting his girlfriend he pushed her away. Rae was little annoying to me in this book and I couldn't connect with her this time around. However, I did love how she handed Ryker his ass after the incident.
It doesn’t make sense. Rae puts Ryker in his place whenever he insists she ditches her friends and hang with him. She is not a fan of that kind of possessiveness. So when he dumps her, albeit under shitty reasoning, why is she so upset? Not playing down her feelings, but you can’t beg someone to put in effort, tell him you will always choose your friends over him, allow them to never speak truthfully about his life before you or his family, and then wonder why he dumped you? Girl, get it together.
Rex, you stupid boy. First you missed the clues with a neon sign that Kayden has feelings for you. Then you think starting a friends with benefits situation with her is smart. Dumbass. She isn’t that good at hiding her feelings and she is your sister’s best friends. This is not going to end will for you.
Last thought. What is hell is with that ending? Nothing was resolved.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Rae and Ryker are still seeing each other and after almost three months together, things seem to be getting more serious. Is this perfect relationship as perfect as it seems? Rex's POV in this book were some of my favorite parts. I loved seeing how amazing of a big brother and friend he is. Ray of Light made him seem like a slacker but Ray of Hope shows how willing he is step up for everyone he cares about.
I love this group of friends and how tight they are. I can't wait to read Ray of Love to see what happens next for all of them!
*This is my voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy*
While reading this second book of the series, it occurs to me that this in not your ordinary romantic type book. There are 6 main characters whose lives run through the plot. There are other characters that come and go from their lives. These seemingly peripheral characters impact the main character's lives in various ways. Some are more important to a main character than others. I can't go into details without spoiling but suffice to say that the interweaving of all their stories makes for a complex and richly nuanced story. There seems to be no beginning and no end between books, only a story that moves and changes, flowing with ease and clarity of the writing. I am enjoying this a lot.
Honestly, reading these books felt like watching 5 seasons of the show Friends; except the characters and humor weren't as good.
The characters were all around 30ish, but pretty often their dialogue and thought process had me thinking they were in their early 20s. It had several moments where I was shaking my head at what was happening or being said, and thinking "Seriously?"
Rae was the main character and unfortunately I was not a fan. To me, she came off as a know-it-all who did no wrong. I actually liked Ryker more than any of them.
Overall it was just ok for me. It kept my attention, but I didn't love it like I hoped I would.
Second book in the series and definitely does not disappoint! E. L. Todd is masterful in her words.
The intricate web weaved between the relationships leaves you wanting more. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll share heartbreak and frustration with her characters.
Then, when you reach the end of the book, you're left wanting more!!
I hate reviews with spoilers - and have not mastered the craft of writing a review without giving any...
Read this in one sitting (as I did with Ray of Light). Be prepared to do the same! Cannot wait for #3 in this series!!
Die Geschichte steigert sich im Vergleich zum 1. Teil wesentlich.
I was so excited to read the second in this series!!! I probably laughed-out-loud the first twenty minutes of reading. I can't get enough of this story of the characters. I was happy to see a couple of the characters getting closer. I hope they get even closer. I'm not sure how Rae's story is going to end, but I'll be with her every step of the way.
I don't know what I'm going to do before I read the next book.
I voluntarily review this book after receiving an advance reader review copy
It takes up from the end of book 1, the relationships between the characters and how they interact with each other and the reader are great, and how as a reader they evolve and we find out more about them I absolutely loved, i have to admit I am in love with Zeke
A truly wonderful read by a talented writer I highly recommend and I am anxious to read book 3
