My mother said to me, 'If you are a soldier, you will become a general. If you are a monk, you will become the Pope.' Instead, I was a painter, and became Picasso.

Interesting bibliography book written in Spanish on the personal life of the prominent artist, with good amount of quotes and some memoirs. To say that Picasso had a complicated relationship with women is an understatement. Picasso was married twice, but had many lovers (9 partners covered in the book) throughout his life and left behind four children by three different women.

There are many fascinating details of Picasso’s life that help enrich understanding of his artwork. A highly complex, if not difficult, individual, many events have shaped his life and legacy. Rating: 4 out 5.
