What a total alpha book! Cyrus is a true alpha and oh my is he yummy! He's alpha of Manhattan! I would love to be in that pack. ;) Betsy is miserable! Her life has been ripped out of her control by her "fiancé'! It's a mess of a situation that can only end bad for her. When she meet Cyrus though that all changes and in a matter of hours! It was comical to watch Cyrus this strong alpha war in his mind with being alpha and dropping on his knees and begging her to be his. Someone has been stealing female pack members THAT ARE PREGNANT! Betsy can't believe that it's her forced fiancé and his father. Hunters! Ugh! I really flew through this book it was easily read and enjoyed! It's was action packed and so much yumminess! This is perfect for all lovers of paranormal romance!
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review (Fated Publishing)
I was pleasantly surprised by Alpha's Strength. I have read a few of the books in Royce's Westervelt Wolves series and was fairly neutral about them. However, Alpha's Strength definitely captured my attention in a matter that Westervelt did not. The characters were multidimensional. The story was very interesting and complex. The plot was intricate. All of those elements worked together to create a story that kept my attention from beginning to end. I can't wait to see what Royce has in store for Lake and Beaux. Their pairing already started out in an interesting way. Great beginning to a new series.
Life changed for Betsy the moment Cyrus followed her into Starbucks. Betsy is in an untenable position being blackmailed into marrying a man she hates to protect her parents. Cyrus is the Alpha of the Manhattan Pack of werewolves. Born to protect and Betsy’s fated mate. Problem is Betsy is latent and doesn’t know she is a werewolf and then there is the whole protect the folks thing. Cyrus runs a whole pack he isn’t going to let a little thing like a fiancé and extortion stop him from getting the one thing that is for him alone. Betsy’s heart. This is a fast paced, sometimes intense read loaded with plenty of tongue in cheek humor. Betsy is stronger than it first appears and Cyrus will need every bit of that strength. Lots of wonderful secondary characters to build on. I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Cyrus is a sexy and strong Alpha and his world gets turned upside down when he stumbles across his true mate Betsy! Only problem is Betsy doesn't know what she truly is let alone Cyrus. Betsy is tangled up in a something that will lead everyone into danger. Will Cyrus be able to help Betsy and keep his pack safe? Will he be able to claim his mate? What will happen when Betsy finds out what she truly is and the truth about her upbringing? So many questions and this book will take you on an adventure. I loved Cyrus and Betsy! You must get this book and she for yourself Cyrus and Betsy's journey!
People have been doing what Cyrus told them to do since he was 12 years old. Groomed from an early age to be an Alpha, he challenged the former Alpha of Manhattan when he was 20 and has been running the city like a well oiled machine ever since. He is tough, tenacious, powerful and doesn't have time to seek a mate. Consumed by the modern world of business, fated mates and moon gods are nothing but fairy tales to Cyrus. Little does his pack know that his apartment is lonely, he doesn't sleep at night and behind his strong facade beats a heart that no one loves.
Betsy realised too late that she had been raised by monsters, her parents hid their evil from her as long as possible. The day they were captured by a group of purists was the day Betsy's torment began. Blackmailed into an engagement by her parent's kidnappers, she feels obligated to try to rescue them, even though it means subjecting herself to the attentions of a cruel and selfish man.
When Cyrus and Betsy first meet, sparks fly and their attraction is irresistible, but Cyrus is an Alpha whose pack is on the brink of war and Betsy, a latent wolf, believes herself to be a human with no means of escaping her future.
A fast paced and well written paranormal romance. Resisting the Alpha offers readers a well developed storyline and complex characters. An passionate and emotionally engaging roller coaster ride from start to finish!
Cyrus he's demanding, "I don't know that I'm somebody you should know. But you are going to know me. Count on that." It's really apparent that he'd do anything for Betsy, "she might not like it here. Someday, when she was officially his, if she wanted to move he'd let her pick any place in the city she wanted. Anything to make her happy." I mean he'd give her the world, "you like the silk, princess? I'll drape you in it. When I let you get dressed." I mean he can be an a** some of the time, "your temper shows how human you still remain." He shook his head. "I'm the Alpha of this pack. I don't discuss pack business with anyone if I don't want to. Things that relate to us, I'll be happy to bring to your attention, but this is me as the Alpha. I don't talk to you about it. Ever." But then there's the animal side, that is also caring, "Cyrus stroked Betsy's leg, not caring if anyone noticed. Another day of being so completely desperate to make love to her and he might decide to take her in public. Screw anyone who wanted to watch. He'd make sure they got a good show." I loved reading this book and I'm looking forward for more.
Wow – this new series from Rebecca Royce is off to a great start! I loved the modern urban twist on the werewolf pack running a corporation in New York City. Cyrus is both super-hot and endearingly bewildered by his reaction to Betsy. Alphas and fated mates are always a little tricky because I need an equal pairing in a relationship, but Betsy more than holds her own. This was a sexy read with plenty of action and plot to keep things moving outside the bedroom.
Royce’s world-building is fantastic with lots of political set-up and characters for future novels. I can’t wait to read Lake’s story!
Great second book in the Fallen Alpha series. I loved the interaction between Cyrus and Betsy. It was nice to see that the Alpha isn't always so sure if himself and that he needs someone to lean in. Betsy is a great mate to the alpha being strong emotionally considering all her hardships. If you love to read about strong males with a soft side and soft females who are up to the alpha challenges, then the Fallen Alpha series is definitely for you!!
Cyrus is the Alpha of New York city and works nonstop to keep his pack safe. But something is missing in his life, a mate. Until one day, he smells an alluring scent that leads to his fated mate who turns out to be the plot twist in the story. Betsy had a strange and solitary upbringing but she didn't have an inkling on what a meeting with Lake would entail and how her life would change forever. I enjoyed the book even though there wasn't much of a build up to the relationship but that is usually the case in shifter romances. I liked that Betsy's true personality came out as the story moved on and she became a strong, confidant woman. Cyrus was always ON. He was always in protector mode when it came to his pack so Betsy coming into his life gave him someone to focus on to help him relax a bit.
Rebecca Royce is a name to watch . She's starting to really get noticed by my fellow readers of paranormal fiction and with this her new Fallen Alphas series I can a certainly see why . This story which is full length follows on from her story Alpha Rising which appeared in the anthology Ever After . It's a standalone story which is fast paced and certainly kept this reader entertained. Cyrus is the werewolf Alpha of Manhattan and although he has a sister and his pack to care for something is most definitely missing from his life. Going into a coffee shop one day he stumbles upon the one thing guaranteed to make his inner wolf sit up and take notice, Betsy his mate! Slight problem though as she's engaged to a human and doesn't even realise that she's a werewolf herself! Betsy doesn't understand why all she can think about is the great smelling stranger in front of her but one thing is for sure she can't let her fiancé know just how attracted she is. Betsy has been blackmailed into a loveless relationship but the safety of her parents depends on her doing the right thing. Only problem is doing the right thing is getting harder as a certain gorgeous and demanding man is determined that her place is with him ! When Cyrus sets his sights on something he will move heaven, earth and even the odd fiancé to get it and Betsy is most definitely his! This book has everything a lover of paranormal romance could ask for, a strong sexy loving hero, a heroine who possesses inner strength , wolves that will fight for their loved ones and villains who really need taking down and believe me the bad guys in this book are truly evil. This is a sexy tale set amongst shifters that will keep you turning the pages . The story progresses nicely and pretty soon we learn that these captivating wolves are much more than one dimensional. The author brings heart to the story and her interesting supporting characters really help to flesh out this new world that she's creating . A great read in what I'm sure is a series destined to do really well. It's a story that just works and although there's no cliffhanger as such I feel Ms Royce has a lot more planned for her readers.
I have read this author before on a different series so I am glad I have the opportunity to read a new series from her. Paranormal romance is where I really enjoy the different aspects that a author can deliver a story where they take for quite the exciting ride with some intense characters who are not your average person. This author can deliver that, she takes you into her world and breathes life into it with her characters. This story was takes you on a romantic adventure when a alpha finds his mate something he did not quite believe would happen for him, ironically he does just that happens upon her. In the big city this story takes place in that is quite a accomplishment especially when he is so determined and consumed by keeping all ones he rules safe with little or no regard for himself at times. He goes to get a coffee much needed and smells the scent. When he catches up to it bam his mate who happens to be mistaken at first by him of someone else. Betsy the loner that she is but engaged to a man by no choice of hers does well I would say in the first meeting even though she is jerked out of there by a jerk. But this is the beginning of the end of that and the start of something different for her. Thinking there was something wrong with her she will also discover not so that she has really not been living as she should be all along. The supporting characters are also just right and well matched that makes this a very delightful read indeed. Filled with adventure that comes with a shifter novel there is drama and trouble that keeps entering all their lives that must be handled and faced.Cyrus is one alpha that is most definitively up for any challenge especially now with a true mate by his side. Extermination is what one group would like for them and that is not going to happen on his watch and that of others. Romance that is in here is hot enough it sizzles when occurring so be prepared for the heat. Enjoyed how it all comes together and the opening of the next possible one is seen, love to guess who might be next in a series or what will be next. Received a arc for a honest review.
Thrills and chills to keep readers on their toes with this action packed and emotion grabbing werewolf romance.
Betsy, a young woman with no idea who or what she is, is suddenly thrust into the world of werewolves when one suddenly pops up her into life and decides she’s his. Cyrus is the Manhattan Alpha and has a lot on going on in his life, like the two visiting alphas breathing down his neck and he certainly didn’t anticipate meeting his true mate and her needing his protection from the true believers out to destroy all werewolves.
This fast paced plot gets the adrenalin pumping with lots of action, suspense and romance. The story is brought to life with vivid imagery, details and strong, charming characters that capture the imagination. There are a few surprises that the reader doesn’t see coming and the action is well orchestrated and believable. All of the characters grab the reader’s attention, are easily related to and have the reader wanting to get to know them better.
Cyrus and Betsy’s attraction to each other explodes from the pages and the relationship is obviously meant to be. Their emotions and reactions are conveyed with vibrant intensity that certainly captures the reader’s heart. Betsy quickly becomes a favorite with her strong, take charge attitude but with a vulnerable unsure side when it comes to dealing with the wolf side. Cyrus is definitely all alpha but he takes protecting the pack a little too far and has a few things to learn with comes to dealing with a mate.
I really like how Cyrus explains to Betsy, the wolf’s attitude about doing what needs to be done and what is not acceptable. I was caught up in the story from the very beginning and really taken with the characters and I really like the author’s spin on how the werewolves came into existence, such a sad but romantic way to come into being. I can’t wait to get to know more of the Fallen Alphas’ characters better.
I am appreciating Rebecca more and more as an author these days. I feel like, not only does every series gets better, but she also creates a world wholly new and fresh for the readers.
Of the books I've read by Rebecca these seemed to be the darkest for me. That isn't a bad thing, I actually like my shifter books more edgy because I feel like when you pretty up basically animals too much, you ruin the whole thrill of the shifter verse. I was so totally thrust into this dark world that I couldn't stop reading once I started the book. All the characters pulled me into their angst, trials, and emotions that I felt truly connected to them.
My heart reached for Betsy and how she was raised. I mean honestly it was like living in a cult. The whole evolution of Betsy as a characters tugged and pulled at my heart strings and I so needed her to get an ending worthy of all her trials. Cyrus drove me crazy sometimes! He was alpha, boy oh boy was he a right and proper alpha wolf and no one was going to move his choices in the least--until of course the mate brings him to his knees.
And can I just say I was sooooo into the whole 'chasing' scenario. I'm a huge fan of the wolf chase--well--ANY shifter chase to be honest!
I thought the shifter children being kidnapped was a great twist in this world. It was something I haven't read before and I was so excited to get something fresh from the paranormal/shifter world. All the stuff floating around is so full of the same plot formula and these seemed to even up Rebecca's game where her books are concerned. The voice was strong, the characters were raw and endearing, and the story made me cry, laugh, and ache for everyone in it. Truly, you did well with this one Mrs. Royce.

Cyrus is an Alpha through and through. He cares for his pack, is tough as nails, and doesn't take crap from anyone. At times, he comes across as a complete ass but, I think, it's due to what he took on when he became Manhattan's Alpha. It wasn't just the responsibility of being a leader but mending together lives broken by war, heartache, and loss.
Betsy is...broken. There are so many paranormal stories of broken heroes and heroines, and they are indeed broken. But Betsy... Her story, her history, really touched me and broke my heart. Before she met Cyrus, she had and lost so much due to secrets and lies. Meeting Cyrus really helped put her back together, not into the woman she was before but into a woman who's strong enough to face her past, to stand beside her Alpha, and grab hold of a future she never thought possible.
Alphas are often portrayed as detached men who only show affection to their mates, and usually in private more than in public. They come across as harsh, demanding, and domineering. I can't say Cyrus isn't any of those things. He is. He has a pack to run, treaties to observe and honor, new treaties to consider, and a company to run. But having Betsy changed him in a manner that was remarkably refreshing to read. He was still the "I'm Alpha and my word is law" kind of guy but she brought out a side of him I think even he was surprised to see. He became more caring toward his members of his pack, asking one warrior how he was doing, and even taking the time to listen to his sister.
Ms. Royce is off to an incredible start with this book in what promises to be a great series. (If you haven't already done so, check out the prelude to this series, "Alpha Rising" in the Ever After anthology.) I can't wait to read more of her Fallen Alphas.
Rebecca Royce is a new author for me. I can say this is not the last that I will be reading of hers. I truly enjoyed reading Alpha's Strength. Cyrus is the Alpha to the New York pack but lately he has felt like something is missing. When he goes after some coffee he notices what his life is missing and goes after it. Nothing was going to get into his way. If there was a problem he was going to fix it. Betsy is not having the best time. She is fighting to keep her parents alive by giving up her life. When her life collides with Cyrus things change. She is forced to face things that she never knew was possible. Betsy finds out things that are so hard to believe. She wonders how she could have missed it. Together Cyrus and Betsy rise up over all that is thrown at them.

“I’m not a werewolf or whatever you are. I think I would know if I had the ability to go furry. I get one visitor every month, regularly, and it has nothing to do with the full moon or walking on four legs."
"There had been things she wanted to do, plans she’d hoped to achieve after she settled the Nathan problem and saved her parents. There had been food to eat. Now she wouldn’t be able to even eat any chocolate. She sniffed—unless that rule applied only to domesticated dogs and not werewolves."
"Betsy tuned out the rest of what they said. They could growl, hiss, or pee on each other for all she cared at that moment."
My all time favorite:
"He controlled an entire pack, and he belonged to her."
Cyrus, the Alpha of Manhattan, doesn't know what has been eating at him lately, but his temper has flared often and he is needing a breather. When he ends up in a coffee shop he is shocked to see his mate, although initially he mistook her for another.
Betsy can't explain the attraction to Cyrus, but she can't do anything about it right now as her parents are being held and she has had to become engaged to man she hates to ensure their safety. Cyrus though smells the treachery that surrounds her fiancee and has a plan to remove him from her side immediately while he gets Betsy to accept him as his mate. With a pending war and new found alliances with other packs, their courtship is not easy but when Cyrus discovers the truth behind Betsy's upbringing, he will do everything to bring justice for Betsy.
Exciting story, Cyrus is a broken alpha in a sense. He has lost a bit of his belief but when Betsy arrives in his life she brings a fresh perspective that has Cyrus thinking about much needed changes in his pack. Looks to be a fantastic series, was really intrigued by one of the other alphas in the story who seems to be a bit of a bad boy.
Cyrus, Alpha of Manhattan, finds his true mate, Betsy, in Starbucks. But Betsy is a latent werewolf who doesn't even know she is one. So they've got that little problem to get past. Oh, and Betsy is engaged to a man who is blackmailing her.
Betsy's past and Cyrus's current werewolf problems intersect in a way that neither could have foreseen. Cyrus will do anything for Betsy and his pack--even place his life on the line--to end the horrible acts of their enemies, the True Believers. But in the end, who will really pay the price?
I liked Cyrus. He's sexy, and he has some very funny lines. Many of them unintentional (on his part, but not on Rebecca Royce's). He doesn't know how to handle Betsy. He's never had to deal with a woman who was raised as a human and who needs to be romanced.
Betsy thinks she's dumb and weak, but she's actually very insightful and strong. She is the Alpha's strength. And his weakness. She is his everything.
Alpha's Strength is a fast, fun, hot read that will keep you turning the pages. Enjoy!
I liked this book. It brought be right back to the Westvelt Wolves which is one of my favorite series. They are not connected and not entirely the same but they do both include a nice mix of pack politics, mystery, powerful shifters and magic to make them a fun read.
This installment in Rebecca Royce's world is about the Alpha of Manhattan who meets his "True Mate" who is a latent werewolf who does not know she is not human. He has created a business in which is entire pack can work at to keep them from mixing with humans and reduce the possibility of being found out. It is easier to exist when you live in the woods of Maine...quite another thing in the middle of one of the world's biggest cities. In uncovering his wife's mysterious upbringing they mix with another pack in Montana and solve some really mysterious events that have happened in the past.
Great read....I still have trouble with the whole...I see you, smell you and are totally committed to you thing but getting past that....I loved it and look forward to future installments.
Cyrus is the Alpha werewolf of Manhattan, has been since he took out the previous alpha at age 20. He has built a business and a home for his pack in this concrete jungle but lately he has been feeling like something is missing. Short tempered and agitated he storms out of his morning meeting and out the front door to get some are and a cup of coffee at the coffee shop across the street not knowing his world would change. Betsy was just in for a cup of coffee and then back to her life of servitude to a man that she hates but has her parents held prisoner. She did not know the man that approached her in the coffee shop. He follows her home and her world is going to be turned on its ear. And to top it all off he tells her she is a werewolf and his mate. Now with werewolf babies disappearing and a long lost identical twin sister Betsy might make it out alive.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review .I love love love this story Cyrus is the New York Alpha he's not looking for a mate his only concern is keeping his business running and caring for his pack.Betsy is a latent werewolf who has no clue about what she is .Cyrus catches an intriguing scent and follows it inside a Starbucks and finds Betsy his mate .Betsy is being blackmailed ,there's a group out to kill all shifters , a war is looming ,and Cyrus has to tell his mate what she is which all makes for a page turning can;t wait to see what will happen next read .I couldn't put it down this was a fantastic read even better than the first book in this series .I can't wait for the next story .Definitely one of my favorite series of 2015.
3 out of 5 stars. I'm not a fan ... I stuck with this novel because I paid for it. And while I appreciated the plot and the way Ms. Royce wrote Betsy, it was hard to like Cyrus. Overtime Betsy is able to brake through Cyrus' shell but I cannot say out right that I ever really liked him as a character by himself, his relationship with Betsy though was entertaining to read. In addition, I liked how this novel wrapped up and built to the next novel in its series.
I recommend it if you are a fan of Ms. Royce and looking for a unique werewolf romance.
You have to read this book. Read this book. When your done; go buy the other book in this series and read that too. While this book is part of a series, I don't think that you will be lost if you start the series here. Rebecca Royce is a master at world building, and that is definitely evident in this book. I feel like I could join the pack, personally, and know what was going on.
This is Betsy and Cyrus' story, and it was an action packed whirlwind romance from start to finish. I loved it.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Whatever the price of this book is as you're reading this review, it's worth it. Buy it. You won't be disappointed.
This was my first book by Rebecca Royce and trust me folks, it won't be the last!
Betsy was the type of heroine I enjoy reading about -- smart, strong, engaging and adorable.
Cyrus, oh, Cyrus… Alpha all the way, baby! Sexy, caring, smart, protective of his family, friends and of his MATE. Yeah. I must say their love story was very believable, and I absolutely love when the hero and heroine fall in love quickly and it feels real.
Besides, this story is packed with conflict, which I love. The babies, her fiance, everything really. I don't want to give much away, but I can't wait for her next book. Nicely done! :)
Loved it! I loved the alpha couple, Cyrus & Betsy, they had great chemistry. Cyrus, the dominant alpha male who was in control but caring to those he cared about and loving towards his mate. Betsy, quietly in control, strong and loyal to their pack and loving towards her mate. I'm looking forward to Lake & Beaux's story! I absolutely love shifter stories and this book, for me, was perfect in every way.
Alpha's Strength is pack full of suspense and sexy wolves. All the stuff I love about paranormal romance. Mrs. Royce knows how to pull you into a story and have you begging for more.I LOVE this series! It's at the top on my must read list. I can't wait for the next book. I highly recommend this book and series to all paranormal lovers. You will not be disappointed.
