A secret can make or break any relationship. Even the closest of friends can surprise each other. Newly single Amy is struggling to find herself and discover what, and who, she wants in life. Meanwhile, her best friend, Kloey and her husband, Adam, recently found out they were pregnant but despite Amy's excitement for them, excitement is the last thing on Kloey's mind. Will the secret Kloey is about to reveal ruin her relationship with Amy, or worse, Adam? Or will it be what Adam has been hiding that destroys everything? Regardless of the outcome, sometimes secrets just have to come out and become complicated truth...
"Complicated Truth" was a quick read at about 138 pages. The book was not horrible, it just wasn't anything amazing. The story is pretty blah and there is absolutely no character development so the book is basically just the story itself. You don't really get to know where the characters are coming from, their backgrounds, or even have a developed independent voice. All pretty much spoke the same and I didn't get a feel of any real distinctions. The other thing that I feel compelled to mention is that this book needs some serious editing. There are numerous spelling and grammatical errors (example: the author uses the word "threw" instead of "through" a couple times). Simple little tweaks that, to me, are a necessity in publishing a book.
Like I said, the story isn't horrible or immensely boring - it just was...ok. If you are looking for a quick read and the little editing errors throughout won't bother you, then grab a copy and enjoy :)
