When I caught my husband having an affair, I picked up what remained of my tattered pride and broken heart and left the city behind, heading for a small town where motorcycles outnumbered cars three to one.
Ashland, Tennessee was where I planned to start over and become the woman I wanted to be; a woman who was fun and just a little bit reckless. The need to break out of my shell led to one wild night with a man I never planned on seeing again. But when the tattooed stranger showed up unexpectedly at my new job, he made it clear that once wasn’t going to be enough for him.
As the president of a motorcycle club with a checkered past, Courtland Pope should have scared me, but no matter how hard I tried to stay away, the pull to him was too strong to ignore.
However, when old rivalries breach the surface and the line between good and bad begins to blur, I find myself stuck in the middle. And as much as Pope wants me, he might not be able to protect me from the past.
Born and raised around Houston, Jessica is a self proclaimed caffeine addict, connoisseur of inexpensive wine, and the worst driver in the state of Texas. In addition to being all of these things, she’s first and foremost a wife and mom. Growing up, she shared her mom and grandmother’s love of reading. But where they leaned toward murder mysteries, Jessica was obsessed with all things romance. When she’s not nose deep in her next manuscript, you can usually find her with her kindle in hand.

I'm a big fan of Jessica Prince and she's one of my go-to authors when I want an easy read that I know will keep me entertained. And I did enjoy this one, and loved the characters together. But sadly it also felt very rushed to me. Amazon has the page number as 328 but before I looked at that I would have bet money that there were no more than 200 pages to this story. Everything just moved so fast and by the end I felt like Pope and Lennon barely had any moments together. I loved them together and their intimacy was done so well at most moments that I couldn't get enough of it. But take away the smutty scenes and it felt like we were left with nothing more. At least not of them with one another.
Overall, I liked the characters and they intrigued me. I just with their story wasn't so rushed.
It's okay. Start of a new series, in a new small town. This book has the Hero president of an MC but the series is not restricted to the MC. The heroine is very recently divorced. No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine. No other woman drama. No flirting with anyone else. No relationship history for the Hero. Ex drama from her exhusband who won't let go. Lots of secondary characters who have potential for storylines.
HEA. Epilogue. HEA I imagine will be scenes as the series develops.
I felt that I had got to 67% and the Hero and heroine had a ONS early on in the book but hadn't actually spent much time together since, he was kind to her and thoughtful when they did but they didn't really know each other but they were all in. It was filled mostly with the heroine's past, the club's past and her job. The reason I think I felt this way was last week I read Kristen Ashley's Avenging Angel, new release, and it also was the first book in the series and it introduced a new heroine and a new area but I got to 27% and loads had happened and the couple spent loads of time together and hadn't had sex yet.

Jessica Prince has a brand new series out y'all and I am always on board when it comes to her and her wiring. The Ashland series is all-new (mayyyyybe) and Dead to Rights is the first in it. In this beauty, we are introduced to Pope and Lennon (squeeeeee!) and the paces these two took me through was everything. They packed their story with heat, heart, swoon, explosive chemistry, an unforgettable journey, and allllll of the feels.
Jessica is an amazing author and I'm really excited to watch/read as this series progresses.
It’s quite romantic, actually they’re start with a ONS and that’s not my thing at all but they fall in love very quickly, She is amazing, smart and independent He is perfect, no hesitation at all, he is all in since the beginning and I love that! It’s a safe read but there’s some violence not very explicit The sex scenes are really good as always with this author and very emotional, I like that part of her It’s the beginning of a new series and I’ll continue reading, I’m more interested in Bane who is a little psycho than in Roe who I think will be the next, he is too much of a manwh for my taste and as usual, this author let us all know in a crude way… that is the part about Jessica Prince I don’t enjoy… But I’ve enjoyed the book,

This work could really use an editor. I’ve read my fair share of Jessica Prince and was pretty disappointed at the amount of errors in wording and tenses in this one. There was also more than one occasion where the beginning quotes of someone speaking were missing or quotes would appear alone at the end of a sentence that was not someone speaking. At times the timeline didn’t add up. What is written to be a timeline of one week is referred to by a character as a “couple weeks.”
I read some reviews that said Pope and Lennon’s story was rushed and hardly had them spend quality time together outside of 🌶️ time before falling in love and I don’t disagree. The characters fall hard and fast but it’s almost like the fast part is an accident. It doesn’t read like a whirlwind romance but as a Hallmark movie template where everything has to start and end within two tv hours, except for Pope and Lennon it’s more like two weeks. I definitely found myself confused at times over what was going on and how long they had actually known each other and spent time together.
🧡Romantic Suspense 🧡Touch her and ☠️ 🧡Starting over (for her) 🧡He falls first 🧡Bad boy biker 🧡Small town romance
This is the first book in Jessica Prince’s new interconnected, standalone small town romance series.
I devoured this book! It was such a fun read!
Pope easily became one of my favorite book boyfriends😂 I absolutely loved his character - the bad boy biker with a heart of gold?! What more could you want?! I also really loved him and Lennon together. He was everything she needed.
I really felt for my girl Lennon and everything that went down in her marriage, but she definitely upgraded! I really loved how attentive and caring Pope was towards her even before he learned her story. He really made it a point to make sure she felt cherished and loved.
I also really loved Pope’s relationship with his niece. It made my blood boil over how horrible her mother was. The side characters in this book were incredible as well. Iris and Phoebe were hilarious! “Cockwaffle” instantly became my new favorite insult 😂😂 Esther and Otto were so freaking cute too!
The suspense element in this really had me in a chokehold 😂 I just love romantic suspense and I think it was done really well here. I cannot wait to see where the rest of the series goes from here!!
A massive thank you to Jessica Prince and Love Affair with Fiction for the ARC to this incredible book! I absolutely loved it 🤍
Lennon thought that she was married to the man who would be her forever after only to be betrayed by him. Lennon had no qualms about walking out and filing for divorce. Her ex though wanted her back and fought her at every turn which is why Lennon packed up and moved to Ashland, Tennessee. Hindsight is a gift and a curse, it had Lennon realizing she was not living life the way she wanted it. Celebrating her new house with her new friend has her meeting Courtland Pope, he is everything her ex was not and one wickedly fun night with him has Lennon leaving without a second glance, even though he rocked her world.
Pope was not pleased waking up and finding Lennon gone, he wants her and knows she is his game changer. Pope is a man who never planned to settle down but with Lennon he wants everything she has to offer, now he has to convince her of it.
When I read this book was coming I was anxious to get my hands on it. Total thrill ride and Pope is pure alpha male vibe. I was completely enthralled with Lennon, it was wonderful to see her blossom in this book. Page turning entertainment, I did not want to end.
I have just collected yet another book boyfriend; Pope is a dirty talking, swoon worthy start to a new series.
Lennon, a recent divorcee and middle school teacher, is starting over in a new town. She meets Pope, MC Prez, and discovers what she was missing in her marriage. Do not dwell on the MC part of the story, it plays a small part in this story. Lennon and Pope’s story is one you do not want to miss. I am ready for the next book in the series.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Okay, I liked the story though it felt as if chunks of it were missing. But my main complaint is this: I love books. I mean, really love them. I think being a writer is one of the most rewarding and challenging professions. But why don’t these romance writers use editors? Why is their grammar so poor? Using who’s instead of whose. Brother’s instead of brothers. Effect instead of affect. Misspellings, incorrect tenses etc. Doesn’t correct English matter anymore? Don’t publishing houses use editors anymore? Do better, lady.
I have high hopes for this series already. Yes, after just one book. I’ve been waiting for Pope and his story, and I was NOT let down one little bit by it. He’s everything I dared imagine and more, and once he finds The One, he’s all in. This man doesn’t let up one bit. He communicates, he lays it all on the line, and he supports Lennon in the best ways. These two combined are the powerhouse to jumpstart this series, and I’m 100% here for the next book.
Now trust this author when she says this isn’t an MC series. Sure, there’s an MC in town and I’m willing to bet that we’ll see a lot of them as the men find (or refind?) their forever, but I also see something coming with a certain member of the local corruption team. And I do mean corruption. This town has some problems that aren’t going to be solved easily, but the chipping away at the rot will be something I eagerly await with each book.
Beyond finding love, holding that love, and setting the entire house ablaze with lust, Pope and Lennon introduce us to the people that have become important to them. They prove their own characters can’t be tarnished in any way. And they bring a feeling of family that can’t be beat. Oh, I look forward to more of this town. I really do.
This book was such a great read. A motorcycle club president and a middle school teacher meet one night, and a connection is made. Pope and Lennon may have different personalities, but they hit it off from the moment they met. Pope was such a strong male main character who was protective of the people in his life and was determined to keep them safe from any threats. Lennon is a female main character who wants to move on from her cheating husband and start a new life where she is able to get true to herself, Pope is definitely the guy to bring Lennon out of her shell. Pope is exactly protective of his niece and wants to ensure she is taken care of, especially when her mother seems to be attracted to the wrong sort of people. This book is a great read, I love the small town setting, and that involves a motorcycle club and has some drama. I look forward to more books from Jessica.
A new series, new characters, new club, complicated town, steamy one night stand, found family, fresh new start. Our main character, Lennon is starting her new life, away from her cheating ex husband. She’s finding herself again, new career, new town, not looking for any relationship. A one night stand with a stranger turns out to be the President of the MC club in town. Whispers going around that they’re dangerous? Maybe…stay away??? Pope can’t get this raven haired beauty out of his mind.
Motorcycle Clubs have stigmas attached, but Pope has been working hard to not have these rumors over their head. He loves his family, will do anything for his niece. We have some suspense and so much chemistry!!!! Looking forward to the rest of the guys books!
I was pulled right into this story. The story has laughs, secrets, and heartbreak.
This is Lennon and Pope’s story. After catching her husband having an affair she leaves and is in a small town. She is ready to start over. After one night of fun with Pope she settles into her life. Only Pope was looking for more then one night. Once he tracks her down, he makes that known. Will she be able to trust him after all the problems she has with her husband that she trusted. When she is targeted he makes it knows that she is protected. He has to keep he safe and makes sure that his own family is safe. Do they have a future or will danger take that away?
Pope....wow. I've been so beyond excited at the potential for a Pope book since he was introduced in Redemption. Jessica Prince did not disappoint! Phew! What a book! I couldn't put it down . Lennon was absolutely perfect for Pope. I loved them both so much. And Marigold...she was the perfect addition. I loved how soft she made Pope. It was amazing to see their Niece/Uncle relationship. This was an incredible start to a new series. I can't wait for more of this series. I'm really excited to see if Iris gets a book. Loved this so so so much! 5 stars
I love JP, she's a go to for me but this one just lacked the angst that draws me to her books. I was so excited for Pope and he was an amazing hero, but it just lacked angst.
** Sigh **
It was a decent read, I can’t really fault the plot or even the heroine just wanted JP angst and I just didn’t get it
I’m obsessed with Jessica Prince’s books and absolutely loved this one! I was introduced by Pope and he was even better than I imagined. He was such a sweet (and super protective) guy under all that leather. Lennon was awesome. I loved her and how strong she was. I loved her relationship with Pope’s niece too. This was a great start to the series and I can’t wait for more!
Five out five Cortland is the perfect book boyfriend with the perfect combo of swoon worthy and alpha hero and touch her and die vibes.. the way he falls for her first is dreamy. Also how he can cook just made me more weak in the knees for him just wow. Don’t get me started on the steamy scenes just wow the first night and then the second time was just yummy 🤤 .
What a crazy good book of starting over. When you think that being alone for the rest of your life is meant to be, then you meet someone who just won't leave your thoughts. Then throw in some great friends who become family.
Started off giving major ‘but where is the PLOT?!’ vibes, but finally gained traction 3/4 of the way through. Not a bad read but shite character names lost the book a star 🤷🏼♀️
I knew from the first few pages this was going to be five stars. With a super alpha hero who falls first and is like “my woman die if u touch her or even look at her.” I love that. But there was a lot of other stuff that happened in this too which I love when there is more to the story and really good dialogue. Jessica prince is really a reliable read for me lately.
Pope was robbed. Ugh, what a disappointment his story was and that's without taking the lack of editing into account. This book is not the author's first rodeo so I expect better. The story is rushed, yet nothing much happened apart from them constantly banging their brains out. No character development, no story development, no feels, nothing. I skimmed a lot because one sex scene was the same as the next and I was bored out of my mind.
Lennon's moved to this small town to get away after divorcing her ass of an ex. One night with a gorgeous man could mean the start of something amazing, or something...dangerous? Because Pope is the Prez of the local MC and we all know what that means. But perhaps not because he's worked hard to clean up his club, protect his town, and most of all, protect his niece and his brothers. Now he's got a new person to protect, to care for, after that night, and he's not letting her go.
MC fiction can be a bit much. Not that I don't love my SOA, because I freaking do, but MC stories are not always my jam. Here in Dead to Rights, though, the MC aspect is toned down and isn't the main focus. The main focus is Pope and Lennon, and whew! Because they're hot together. He had a down and dirty mouth, a protective, bossy manner, and loves fiercely. Lennon is amazing, throws the sass, but Pope is the perfect person to show her how a real man treats the woman he loves. I think this is an excellent way to start off a new series, and Pope, Lennon and Pope's niece more than exceeded the expectations I've had of him since he was introduced in the Redemption series. Now I'm excitedly waiting for the next Ashland story.
ARC provided by Love Affair With Fiction for an honest review.
Dead to Rights by Jessica Prince is the first book of her new Ashland Series. A new small town with new characters, new drama, new love stories, new emotions and much more I couldn't get enough of! ❤️
When Lennon caught her husband cheating on her she packed her bags and moved to Ashland, Tennessee. A small town with lots of history... and the motorcycle club of the Iron Wraiths. Courtland Pope - for everyone just Pope - is the president and has such a charisma that could definitely difficult for Lennon to resist him... But does she really wanna resist him when he could be the guy to make her forget the past?
OH MY GOODNESS! I KNOW I LOVE JESSICA PRINCE'S BOOKS... buuuut HOW does she do this?! Every time I read a new story I fall in love again. I add the main characters to my top favourites list and they have a special place in my heart. It happens all the time, never gets boring and I can't get enough of it!
The whole storyline just got me hooked! I loved Lennon's personal development. She's this hurt, young woman who moved into a new town to leave her past life behind... and turns into a strong, independent and self-confident woman. The perfect choice for Pope. POPE. OMG, even writing his name makes me shiver! AWWWWWWW!!! So, I thought this could get really dark and absolutely dangerous and I'm not sure I could deal with it all... Buuuuuuut this guy, OMG! Just let me tell you: POPE OWNS MY HEART! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Yes, he's the president of a motorcycle club and you could think that they're just bad guys... but nope. They're more, so much more! And what's not to love about them?! They've the heart in the right place!!! ALL THE THINGS HE DID!!!! Awwww! 😍🥵🤗🥰🙏❤️ I don't wanna spoil you, although I'd love to tell you all about this fantastic book!!!!! I'm sure I forgot more to mention now... but... YEAH, I LOVED DEAD TO RIGHTS AND I'M READY FOR MORE!
If you love: 🏍️ Small town romance with all the spice 🏍️ Romantic suspense 🏍️ Touch her and die 🏍️ Starting over (for her) 🏍️ He falls first 🏍️ Bad boy biker
THIS BOOK IS DEFINITELY FOR YOU!
Awwww! Thinking about Lennon and Pope now... I can't stop smiling for sure! Ugh! They've to deal with a lot!!! There's so much drama, suspense!, love, the normal small town madness, ... ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!! ❤️🙏🙏❤️
Thank you so much for this wonderful book! This is my honest review in my own words.
After her divorce, Lennon Cody is ready to start over, and Ashland, Tennessee seems like just the place to do it. She is ready to heal and spend some time finding out who Lennon really is... and the last thing she expects is to meet a man who has her rethinking her "prefers-to-be single" status...
Courtland Pope may be the president of the Iron Wraith MC, but there is way more to him than the patch he wears... and he can't wait to share it all with Lennon... when he finds her again...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dead to Rights was an ultra-sexy, opposites attract, small town romance! Lennon and Pope shared an amazing night, which Lennon thought was just too good to be true. But when she and Pope reconnect (small town living!), their attraction turns out to be so much more than just amazing sex...
I loved Lennon! She was such a strong and independent woman who was finally taking her life back after divorcing her cheating ex-husband. Her move to Ashland immediately feels like the best choice she ever made, she makes great friends, and meets Pope all in one opportune swoop. But while Lennon wants to embrace every great thing in her new life, she has to deal with the voices of her past second guessing everything...
Pope belongs to a MC which hasn't always been above board with their extracurricular activities, but when he became president, he changed things. And while he may still stretch the law on a few instances, Pope is a trustworthy man who would do anything to protect the people he loves.
This book was an engaging and supremely sexy read which started off the brand new Ashland series with a bang! Lennon and Pope's love story was sweet and fun... and did I mention... H.O.T?! I loved their connection and the attraction they shared, but what I enjoyed the most is how easy it was for them to show each other how they truly cared.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
Good start to a new series, needs editing clean up
What I love about this author’s stories is that they are about real people with real problems (sometimes some really big awful ones). The timing may not alway feel right to the characters, and they may fight it, but they are always meant to be together.
Pope and Lennon are no different. She’s fresh off a finally signed divorce, and moved for a new start in a new town when she meets Pope in a bar. They have an amazing night together, in what she thinks is going to be a one night stand. Her chance to do something wild and fun for the first time in years. It changes both their lives though, as they both find a connection they weren’t looking for. He’s the president of an MC, having made the change to legitimate income over the years after seeing the loss off too many lives. They still live with a lot of the rumors and stigma though, but Pope is really a cinnamon roll underneath the Viking exterior. I love that he falls first. She isn’t far behind, she’s just a bit resistant due to her recent divorce. She doesn’t let that stand in the way long at all though.
This is an insta- love type of story, no real struggle for either of them to accept their feelings. I loved it. No unnecessary or contrived drama. No OM/OW drama, one scene with her idiot ex. No third act breakup, which I love. The conflict is all outside their relationship.
Editing is pretty atrocious, particularly in the beginning. Like, it feels like it’s not a final draft. Misplaced punctuation, incorrect words…. It’s very distracting and not at all what I’d expect from this author (as she’s definitely NOT a newbie). It did improve, so I’m not sure what was up in the beginning, but it bears mentioning.
Overall, I will always one click this author without even reading the description. I know I’m going to enjoy the read. I love that her characters are real and relatable. And I love that the series are spin-offs of characters from previous books, but that you don’t have to have read the others to have any idea what is going on.
