When Jennifer and her group of survivors arrived at the castle, she thought they were safe at last. With strong walls and strong soldiers surrounding them, the threat of infected became negligible, and she could finally relax for the first time in what felt like forever. But the need for a cure outweighed Jennifer’s personal comfort, and the castle didn’t have the facilities needed to synthesize a vaccine from her blood.
She should have known safety wouldn’t last.
Back out in the world plagued by infected, Jennifer and her group head to Paris, where they could begin to find a cure for the virus that decimated humanity. But things don’t go according to plan, and they are left scrambling to get away with their lives.
Determined to find a safe place to hunker down and ride out the worst of the apocalypse, Jennifer and her broken but hopeful group return to the UK. Once there, they soon find that the infected aren’t the only threat.
A story about found family and overcoming the odds, The Safe Zone is the thrilling conclusion to the Survivors duology.
As a child Amy loved reading and writing, so naturally she graduated with a degree in biomedical science and has worked in a microbiology laboratory ever since. Her passion is writing, however, and she turned back to it during her years at university. When she is not writing about surviving apocalypses, vampires feeding on the rich, exploring space, and conquering magic--all celebrating queer love-- she can be found reading or playing games about those very things.
She lives by the sea with her wife and their eighteen year old cat, who still runs around like a kitten.
Amy is the author of the VAMPIRES trilogy WE'RE ALL MONSTERS HERE and SHOW ME YOUR TEETH, with book three due 2025, and the SURVIVORS duology, SURVIVORS and THE SAFE ZONE. She has more works in progress.
Gripping read! An action-packed, at times chaotic & intense interactions between the many secondary, an array of supporting characters & zombies made this book #2 of 'Survivors' series, very entertaining. Highly recommended book and series!
As a zombie movie fanatic I’m aware of elements that make a good zombie story and Safe Zones has all of it. I five starred this story because of the author’s ability to create minute details concerning the characters that make them more human, hateful and loveable. The characters and their growth from pre to post apocalypse were what carried the story for me. The zombies just added spice (not sexual spice, spice as in more flavouring) to the story,
THE SAFE ZONE is out now everywhere! Highly recommend reading book 1 first as the events here won't make sense otherwise lol. It takes place 1 month after SURVIVORS and throws us back into the world Jennifer and co. are fighting so desperately to survive.
☣️Global apocalypse ☣️Found family ☣️Expanded queer cast (more queer people join the group) ☣️Multiple POV ☣️Humans are the real monsters ☣️Badass characters ☣️A fitting ending to the duology
Content warnings include: apocalypse, pandemic, violence, death (main and side characters), homophobia.
This is the most visually stunning book of the year! MUST. READ. The detail and description in this book is so well executed you would think it poetry.
The world building from the state of the streets in London + Paris: to the feral looks of infected, to the look of the different stages of the diseased, etc makes readers think about how scary this would be. More so Marsden brings to readers the unnerving reality of trusting strangers, needing tampons or antibiotics, washing in rivers and rationing food or risking starvation (incase food is contaminated with the virus in) as well as the ages of infected ranging from children to elderly - can you imagine shooting a infected child or grandmother to live?? This makes you truly feel like you're living in this chaos with everything fully thought out aka for us readers, everything to worry about as a Survivor. What an absolute emotional rollercoaster. I fully admit I cried over 'Jams' and Ismay, and I can guarantee I will read this again in the future and cry...
The author truly throws you in the ringer and makes you tense reading this throughout. As I fell more in love with each character I too felt like I knew this found family and their stories. I wish I could see Dan and Ismay grow up! I wish I could see Alexia and Jennifer grow old together! I wish I could see Elise and Victoria develop fully into thier switched roles. I wish I could see Ota + Trueman's blossoming relationship. Finally I wish I could see Edward Ota's Poems - perhaps with a dedicated poem to each person lost throughout this duology.
What will Wright do with the chocolate bar??? I wish so much Teona was real, as the supreme commander is my favourite character I can't get enough of her!
The mental health and LGBTQ+ representation is beautiful and I wish we could rebuild a society like this group will. I truly felt Jennifer's depression and glimmer of rare hope, this is so painful to read in the best way to show what depression is. Jennifer is a bright light for anyone struggling mental health wise, and for anyone who needs her bravery when faced with homophobia or biphobia. There are so many lessons to learn from this book. READ IT!

This started with a bang, and it didn’t slow down until the last page. You really do need to read book one in the duology, or you’re going to find yourself a little lost. The setting and characters are really built up in book one, and this throws you right into the middle of the action (literally). I once again found myself in the middle of post-apocalyptic earth, with unforgettable characters who are living through a nightmare. Marsden did a great job getting my heart racing with the action scenes, and kept the story moving at a good, even pace. If you enjoy zombie books, you’re going to enjoy this duology!
