Ebon Moon
SAVAGE TERROR WAITS UNDER A DARKENING MOON. Seeking to escape her psychopathic husband, Jessica Lobato flees Chicago with her five-year-old daughter Megan. Reaching the small town of Hope Springs, Oklahoma, they rent a trailer house out in the country and think they are finally safe. However, this small town has a very dark secret; one that emerges when the moon is full. A pack of werewolves hides amongst the populace and secretly kills selected people to satisfy their hunger. Ebon moon
This is a real, honest to goodness scary story. The only parts I didn't care for were the killing of Passion and Tig. Just a personal preference. It even leaves the path open for a sequel. Could Jess have gotten pregnant? Will Terry eventually find her when he's older? Hey, all my guys are younger! But that's cougar, not wolf. At any rate, this is a really good horror tale for anyone that likes the genre.

not bad
I’ve read so many werewolf stories. It’s my favourite genre.
I found this one lacked the imagination and descriptive text when the werewolves were changing. I’m used to the writer going into a lot of depth in explaining not only the pain the person/werewolf is in but the bones snapping shifting etc etc until they have turned.
The story wasn’t bad and there were some surprising deaths. As well as finding out who was and maybe wasn’t a werewolf.
Over all not a bad read, it was worth reading. 👍

Jessica and her daughter Megan are fleeing from dark times in Chicago. Unfortunately, they chose the wrong town in Oklahoma to settle down in...
Part of the problem I had with the book is that there are a lot of characters that are not particularly sympathetic () and I didn't feel particularly driven to continue the book outside of watching what the werewolves do next. And they do quite a bit - there's a lot of good action and transformation going on, I just couldn't get into it. Good ending, maybe went one night too long on the story.
So I'm left with an okay werewolf horror novel with decently developed werewolves. Perhaps you'll find it more gripping than I did.
I keep flipping in my mind whether this is a 3 or a 4. Would I reread it? Probably not. 3.

The book was good and full of horror. Just a few mistakes in things that did not complete what the characters would logically do (like when the heroine makes love with the sheriff (who she didn't know was part of the pack at the time) without protected sex...). Alsp the end seemed rushed and the heroine left the teenage boy to answer questions of the deaths, etc...

Excellent!!!!!
This was THE BEST werewolf story I have ever read. There were so many twists and surprises, I could barely put it down to sleep. I cant think of a bad thing to say about this story. I'm really hoping there are several follow ups soon. does Jess have a baby, human or part werewolf? Does Terry go on to seek out others to kill? I guess ill have to wait and see. A girl can hope, lol.

WOW!!!
This book was "EXCELLENTE"!!! The plot, MC and others characters was on point. The book had me non-stop on the edge. Such detail that you could see everything he wanted you to experience. Can't wait for the next book, series please. This book was AWESOME!!!

creepy from start to finish
Throw in a pack of monsters, a homicidal maniac, hormonal teenagers and a beautiful woman with a child running from that maniac into the throes of those monsters and what you get? A roller coaster ride of unexpected twists and turns.

WOW painfully good
I was not expecting this to be as well wrote as it is. I picked it up and WOW it grabbed hold and didnt let go. I devoured this in one setting. There was no way I could stop. The action was non stop and the gore was just the right amount.

Ebony Moon waa a great book
Any book fan or horror aficionado that enjoys werewolves is going to find this a good read. I enjoyed it as it was a real novel. Good complete ending to this story. I hope Dennis McDonald writes many more books.

Very good
This was a very good book,it had gore excitement. Good guys bad guys Jess was very brave and very protective of her little girl Megan. Running from an abusive husband. Really liked the characters.

Excellent old fashioned werewolf story
If you are looking for a good werewolf story this is it. Good characters, big bad wolves, a good story line, based in the plains of Oklahoma.

Great Read
Loved this book. It has some nice twists and was very dark. The only thing that bothered me was the use of the word "then" instead of "than." It drives me crazy.

Loved it! It was such a fun ride! Abusive husbands, bloodthirsty monsters, multiple POVs, and cohesive writing. Creepy vibes all around. Very nice! 🌑🌕

I can’t for the life of me remember the last time I read a werewolf novel. I’ve done plenty of zombies and basic horror recently…but lycanthrope-themed book titles escape me at the moment. Regardless, I’m pretty sure it’s been quite a while. So when I met author Dennis McDonald at Texas Frightmare Weekend, he was kind enough to give me a review copy of his werewolf tale, EBON MOON. And thankfully, McDonald offers up a book of terror that will satiate even the most savage of bestial readers.
Do not be dissuaded by the fact this is a self-published book. It looks professional and has been extensively edited for grammar and spelling. I believe I only found one misspelling and one omitted word; from a self-publishing standpoint, that is truly awesome.
EBON MOON is written well and flows at a nice, even pace. The book measures in at almost 350 pages, but it is so immersive that they fly by; I was done reading it before I realized it. McDonald writes with a simple but effective style that shows more than it tells, and the result is a quick read that satisfies.
The characters are solid and believable, and I particularly like how the author chose a battered woman running from an abusive husband as the main character; we, as the reader, sympathize with her plight and therefore take a vested interest in what happens to her. Not to mention the fact that it’s always nice to see what happens to these abusers when they finally get their comeuppance.
The plot of EBON MOON is a big win as well. McDonald weaves together a detailed story that criss-crosses the lives of several people within the small town. These interactions and how the characters intersect in the wake of a series of gruesome murders help bring the story to life. Many times during the read, I felt like I was there with the characters, adding my own spark to an already intriguing story.
But the werewolves win the gold star for this book. I really like how McDonald makes them simple people who are not afraid of what they really are. Granted, they have to ‘hide’ in human form in order to survive, but they never apologize for their nature, nor do they lament about it. This gritty, realistic take on lycanthrope is a big part of what makes this book so good.
EBON MOON is a huge win for me, and I recommend giving it a look. This book is a nice, refreshing dose of horror that reminds us to beware when the moon is full. It is available now in a variety of formats.

Jessica Lobato moves to Hope Springs, Oklahoma with her daughter Megan to escape her abusive husband Blake, a crooked cop with a out of control drug habit. Little does she know that the place she has relocated to is more dangerous than her husband could ever be. All the characters were engaging, and the pacing was great, although I did feel the ending was a bit rushed. What I found interesting is that the Character of Sheriff Dale Sutton was more in control of his inner wolf than Collin, Roxie, and Uncle Johnny even though he was not a "pure blood" like they were. Dale's story came to and end all to quickly, as I was hoping there would be a confrontation between Dale and Blake at the end.

This was a rip roaring romp that I absolutely did not want to put down. I caught myself looking at my windows after dark and shivering a little. If a book can still scare me after all the scary books I have read, then it is definitely a good one! Thank you Mr. McDonald for a great werewolf novel! I loved it.

Really good, different take on werewolves. Interesting.
I really liked this book, fast read and kept my interest. I read this in a few hours. Except for some misspelled words , the only thing I didn't like was the last chapter. Maybe it could have ended differently, but not my call. Well worth reading.

Excellent read
I found this book to be different and unique in it's own way. Whoever's said that monsters aren't real they need to rethink it. Some men are monsters in sheep's clothing. I love the storyline and plot of this book.

Great story
A very well written and told story. I really enjoyed it. Plenty of werewolf action throughout the book leading up to the final confrontation to keep you on your toes.

Pretty good. The author stumbles in a few places, but his description of action is quite good, and I feel that towards the book's end Mr. McDonald's writing really picked up in quality.
