McKenzie Burns is a multi-genre author from the suburbs of Chicago with a passion for writing stories that involve diverse cultures, witty banter, and women who don’t take no for an answer. Her spare time is spent drinking copious amounts of coffee and scouring Spotify for obscure music.
I enjoyed all of the characters (except Josh, for obvious reasons). A sweet book with simple complications to shake things up. An easy read, both in difficulty and emotions.
10/10! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I loved this book! It was the perfect book to sit and read while listening to my “reading romance at 1am” Spotify playlist! Vibes were 100/10, classic midwestern girl, hot British guy- what more do you need?
I fell in love with Jordi and Alfie- and when they were with his family 🥹 I can’t!
I love love love the support we are giving women in this book and letting them have their space, get reassurance and have moments when they need them! I wasn’t sure how we were going to surmount the obstacles at the start but it was done so smoothly and in a way that was reassuring Jordi and the reader! I had like minimal anxiety about them as a couple because they had GREAT COMMUNICATION AND CONVERSATIONS!!! (which is hard to find in the romance genre- normally you reading and thinking omg just talk to each other!!!) So thank you McKenzie for writing such an amazing book and I can’t wait to read the next one in the series!!!
This was SUCH a good book! I’m so glad I found this during a stuff your kindle day 🫶🏼
Starstruck is a great read for fans of Emily Henry and Christina Lauren—with some added steam ❤️🔥
I fell in love with pretty much every single character in this book. The story was well written, the spice was SO good, and I NEED more people to find this story and read it! 5 stars easily, no notes. I’ll be picking up the rest of the series as well 🤍
While this was a feel good romance, I recommend reading the Author’s Note at the beginning for any TW.
Don't get me wrong, there's a more serious undertone to this story (an assult that happened before the story begins), but Jodi and Alfie are just *chef's kiss* in their budding relationship.
You can't help but root for them!
My slow reader self read this book in three days. (With a 7 month old at home, mind you!)
A hot, charming British actor with eyes only for me at a convention? Uh, yeah! This story is what my 14-year-old fangirl self would’ve dreamed about. Jordi is such a relatable character as she works on her career, builds her self-confidence, and navigates a rekindled relationship.
Jordi Wright “kept a calm life filled with books, comic con visits, and good food and drink. Nothing to see here. Until now.” While on book tour with Starr Publishing and Media, Jordi is shocked to catch a glimpse of her celebrity ex Alfie Fletcher.
“The reason he was at the Starr booth that first time we saw each other was because he was looking for a book. With my name on it…It would break his heart to know the reason that dream didn’t come true was because of him.” “Our relationship had ended before we’d had the chance.” But “There’s no one here this time…This moment is all ours…Our redo.”
“We’ll take it one con at a time.” “Denver. Omaha. Boise. Minneapolis. Every other weekend—at max, every three—we’d reconnect. We’d explore the city we found ourselves in, going full tourist.” Their glamorous second chance romance continues to bloom until they find themselves at a red carpet blood drive. “I could have simply been attending a black-tie wedding—if I kept my eyes off the blood bags.” And an unexpected encounter from the past makes a guest appearance, sending them in fight (Alfie) or flight (Jordi) mode.
“The glow of the streetlights was just enough to reflect off the fabric of my dress, making it hopefully a bit easier to see the woman running away from her problems…I hadn’t thought that in running away from my problems I might have also given Alfie a great, bright neon sign that said I was running from him as well.”
“Drive. Passion. Love of [the publishing] industry. And more than anything, authenticity…I was up all night reading it. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for in a book. The way [McKenzie Burns] crafted that world and developed such nuanced but lovable characters.” She writes “stories that involve different cultures, witty banter, and women who don’t take ‘no’ for an answer.” But her favorite part of any story she’s written is the romance. Put on your avocado pajamas, pour up a jumbo margarita, and prepare for the best “mild-stalking-disguised-as-a-book-tour” of your life between the pages!
I loved the banter and chemistry between Alfie and Jordi. I also loved the way Alfie interacted with Jordi's coworkers and family. I do wish that the relationship between April and Jordi, especially considering their shared trauma.
However, the romance between the pair was just incredible. Usually celebrity romances have an ick factor due to the power imbalance. But that imbalance wasn't present, despite their differences, the two felt like equals, in life and love.
Everything McKenzie Burns is always 5 stars for me! This book in particular though got me out of my reading rut!! It’s every little girls dream to fall in love with her Hollywood crush and Burns showcases such a realistic and grounded version of that. I loved it and I hope everyone gives it a read!
This book was alright. I had a great time reading it, and it was very smooth and engaging. Alfie was very cute (though absurd to believe he wouldn't have read an arc of her book), and Jordi was very balanced.
However, the romance was a little dull and some elements of the plot could've been considered more carefully -- I think switching a few things up would've really improved this book.
Got this through stuff your kindle day. So much better than what I usually end up with. Really cute story. Plus the characters actually talked to each other about things and that was a delight. Miscommunication trope is the worst.
Star struck is a second chance romance following Jordi (soft, sweet pumpkin) and Alfie (hottie tv show star) on their journey back to each other and all the roadblocks that come with it. We all dream that we one day will fall in love with our movie star crush. Jordi does and in the process, finds inner strength that she needed to move forward with not only Alfie, but herself. From the beginning, this book reels you in with its humor and relatable characters. It’s perfect for those who are fans of Christina Lauren and Emily Henry.
Jordi is living every girl's DREAM!!! I loved everything about this book🥹 nothing I love more than a book with characters you can really connect with, and that's what this was! 10/10 recommend!!🫶🏻
