I was born in Detroit, MI to a couple who are still happily married. I consider my parents one of my greatest blessings. They brought me up with love and faith.

I taught elementary school for over 25 years. Due to a brain tumor, I developed clinical depression and quit my job. With God's grace I faced my GIANTS and started a new life as an author. My passion is to use personal trials to encourage others in their walk with God.

My second book, Divine Interruptions: A Bible Study Through The Book Of Job is now available on Amazon. I share my struggle recovering from brain surgery and align the experience with lessons found in this wonderful story.

My newest writing adventure is in creating the Sadie Sunshine Cozy Mystery Series. School Lunch is Murder and Belly up in the Koi Pond are both available on Amazon.

I presently live in Colorado Springs with my two dogs, Bosco Bill and Akasha Kelly

What a blessing! This was my first time reading the whole book of Job. Until this Bible study, I truly didn’t understand Job’s experience or his friends’ reactions to him. I, myself, suffer from chronic pain and have my faith tested often. So it was a big plus that this author has endured suffering herself but overcame her tragedy. Cheryl Zelenka, openly shares how her life fell apart with an undiagnosed brain tumor. With each chapter, I learned not only of Job’s despair and doubts, but of the author’s and how she got through it with her faith in Christ. Each chapter can be studied in a week with challenging questions and scripture searches arranged in a 5 day format. I love that she takes things one step at a time and is thorough. Most importantly, I learned much more than just about God’s sovereignty. This study is filled with God’s promises, His love, and His faithfulness to us in the worst trials imaginable. It is filled with wisdom on surrendering, having patience and so much Hope. It has given me great encouragement and a more positive perspective on growing or being stretched when facing trials. I’ve also learned how to be more supportive to others suffering. It is both challenging and comforting. The discussions are really insightful. I highly recommend this Bible study not only to those that are hurting and feeling despair, but to all Christians because it will help you greatly when you go through valleys. It will help you help others when they are suffering.

This book guides the reader through a study of the Bible book of Job, a man who had much, lost everything and questioned God. In the end of course Job finds that God is not accountable to us. The author openly shares her own loss after going through a decade of depression, only to learn that a benign brain tumor was the cause. Intervention by family saved her life, but she had lost her teaching career and home that she loved, along with friends and her life there. She worked hard to rebuld her life, seeking God's direction what to do next. God is using her mightily! Through this devotional study, you will find that God does have a good plan and purpose for the times in our lives when God suddenly changes what we have been experiencing. We tend to live in our comfort zones, and the only way He can direct us to a new direction, unfortunately is by taking away a job, health, and other things we may take for granted. Through this journey, the reader who is willing to apply it will be seeking God openly for His best Will, where restoration can be possible. Each chapter the author shares some of her own experience, then has sections of Job to read, study questions to delve in deeper, and then exercises to apply to one's own life to help you grow. I highly recommend this book!

Divine Interruptions is a wonderfully crafted study through the book of Job and based on the author's own personal life experiences. Cheryl Zelenka has done an excellent job in the writing of this book and the result is a Bible study that is both thought provoking and painfully honest as she takes us step by step through her trials, diagnosis, surgery, recovery....and rebirth! I really like the format and layout of the book which breaks the book of Job down into bite-size nuggets that makes it easy for you to read and digest. There are ten chapters with five days of studies for each one....this makes it easy to pick back up if you get "divinely interrupted" during your study. I also like the use of other scriptures throughout the book to support and enhance your understanding of the triumph you can have over trials and suffering in your own life. The study guide is a great tool and gives you ample space to answer the questions in each section as well as put down your own thoughts and feelings as you work through the book. I would highly recommend Divine Interruptions for anyone who is searching for either a personal or small group Bible study. Great job, Cheryl!!!!

Divine Interruptions is a well written Bible study based on the book of Job. Suitable for single study as well as in a group Bible study or small group setting.

The book of Job deals with adversity and Cheryl is no stranger to this herself. Each chapter begins with a personal glimpse into Cheryl's own painful trial having dealt with a brain tumor. Cheryl skillfully leads us through Job's trials using key verses from Job and other related books of the Bible, as well as presenting thought evoking questions.

Key take-away: We can see through this study in the book of Job and Cheryl's own personal trial and subsequent victory over it the way through. No matter the trial or problem we face or the depth of our pain, we need to trust in God realizing that His grace is enough. Both Job and Cheryl faced serious issues and through the grace of God both came through whole once again.
