Jürgen Stroop was an SS General during World War II. He is best known for being in command against the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and for writing 'The Stroop Report', a booklength account of the operation. Following the defeat of Nazi Germany, Stroop was prosecuted during the Dachau Trials and convicted of murdering nine American POWs. After his extradition to the People's Republic of Poland, Stroop was tried, convicted, and hanged for crimes against humanity.
A glimpse into hell with the banal commentary of a 'thanocrat' who sacrificed his humanity at the alter of National Socialism; the most reveling document I have ever read on the 'thoughts' of a Nazi. This book should be required reading at military academies as a clear example of what an unlawful orders is - and why it must be disobeyed.
A very bland, repetitive and depressing document recording one part of the great evil caused by the Nazi regime.
"The dregs of humanity" and then a picture of naked physically disabled people is shown. Very sad.
The report is written in a very emotionless way, stating a number of Jews and Polish bandits were "destroyed".
The pictures of the people pulled out of bunkers by force and its women and little children who look scared and have no idea what is going on. That such terrible things survived and were written down and documented so brazenly is hard to understand. It is hard to understand that people have this much cruelty and can be so evil and yet it is happening in the world again now.
"Considering the greater part of the men of the Waffen-SS had been trained for only 3 or 4 weeks before this operation they must be given special recognition for their daring, courage and devotion to duty." This describing the forces that hunted down and killed innocent people, including children.
This report manages to describe what was essentially hell in cold, clinical terms.
