Clare was an independent career woman -- and then her life was turned upside down! Her relationship with Lachlan Hewitt had started out as a business affair, but their passion had resulted in pregnancy.
Lachlan immediately insisted they get married, but was this just for the sake of their babies? Clare would do anything to safeguard the future of the twins, but she wanted to marry for love, not convenience. Did Lachlan feel the same?
Gillian Smith (alias Lindsay Armstrong) was born in South Africa. She grew up with three ambitions: to become a writer, to travel the world, and to be a game ranger. She didn't achieve the last one, but her fascination for wildlife and that special something about Africa and its big game still remains with her. When she went to work it was in travel, at an agency and an airline, and this started her on the road to seeing the world.
Lindsey met her New Zealand-born husband, who had been working in West Africa, when he was on his way home through Johannesburg. He did go home but in a matter of weeks he was back in South Africa, and six months later they were married. Three of their five children were born in South Africa. Then one in London and one in Australia, after they made the decision to emigrate from South Africa.
It wasn't until her youngest child started school that Lindsay sat down at the kitchen table determined to tackle her other ambition to stop dreaming about writing and do it! She hasn't stopped since. She's not happy unless she has a book under way, and she's discovered she can write through just about anything.
Lindsay and her husband have moved around a lot. They've trained racehorses, farmed, and lived on their boat for six months while they sailed it from the Gold Coast to the Torres Strait and back, an epic voyage! They currently live in Queensland, overlooking the water; they sold their farm, and they're looking around for another boat. She and her husband love to travel and have been back to Africa twice in the past few years. The highlight of one of their trips was a visit to the Serengeti, in Tanzania, where Lindsay did the one thing she swore she would never do: take a ride in a hot-air balloon. She was a nervous wreck as the balloon tottered upright, but will remember it as a unique experience to see the game spreading out on the Serengeti plain beneath her as the sun rose.
"They say you can take someone who was born in Africa out of the bush but you can't take the bush out of someone born there..."
Despite this passion for wildlife and Africa, Lindsay considers Australia her home now and loves the country. She travelled to Sydney to witness the closing weekend of the Olympic Games in September 2000; it made her proud to be an adopted Aussie!
Re Having His Babies - Lindsay Armstrong does book ten of the Expecting Series in this very uneventful, but strangely sweet HP outing.
The h in this one is a 27 yr old solicitor who has been in a relationship with the H since she handled his divorce. She finds out she is preggers and since the H has never indicated the h was anything other than a nice time in bed and to hang out with, the h has a bit of angsting to do over her status in the H's life.
The H makes noises like the h is a not so convenient mistress, but to be fair, LA does push the impression that these two are a modern couple. The H has a huge estate to run and the h has a busy law firm that she owns.
The H also has an eight year old son and two giant dogs who are absolutely hilarious. When the h finally tells the H she is expecting, he proposes right away. The h isn't so quick to accept, even tho the H's son tells her that his mother is making full time custody noises and he figures if his dad marries the h, that would be preferable to his mother and her new boyfriend.
The h does worry about what drove the H to divorce his first wife, tho with the advancement of her pregnancy the h doesn't dwell on things. After the h's father has a heart attack and the h finds out she is having twins, the h decides it would be better to marry the H.
The H is a very supportive husband and the two of them are really sweet together. There is a LOT of pregnancy things going on and the H's son is hilarious when he goes on a one hour hunger strike to protest going off with his mother - who cannot deal with him at all- and her new boyfriend who has no clue about precocious eight year olds.
Fortunately the h is a natural at step momming and the eight year old has definitely got his mother's number when he tells her that he is living with his dad and not to take things personally cause she will always be his mother and he will always be her son.
The H's ex wife gradually reveals her true colors as she flaunts herself as being thin and attractive when compared the burgeoning shape of the h, but the h doesn't let herself get too worked up over things, carrying twins is a full time occupation in itself.
The h gradually adjusts to life as a the wife of a huge landowner and the h and H learn to compromise between their respective careers. Neither one has told the other that they love them, tho the h gets a little morbid and writes a letter in case there is a tragedy and in the small H POV flashes we get, it is patently obvious he adores the h.
But the H still has baggage from his ex-wife's treatment of him and so when he and the h have the inevitable arguments, there is some flash back to his first marriage on the H's part. But when the h doesn't try to manipulate him with sex and instead tells him off, the H gradually starts to relax and appreciate that the h is a whole different kind of woman.
Then disaster strikes as his ex wife and her now husband have the H's son on a little visit and their boat gets rammed. The h is very close to her delivery date and fortunately her mother is there visiting.
The H goes to sort out his kid and the h goes into labor. After three and half hours, the h delivers a boy and a girl and the H manages to arrive for the almost end of things. The magic of babies finally makes the H confess he loves and adores the h, but he also found her letter and that was a big encouragement for him to claim his emotions on his part too.
The H and h are really happy, now that they know they each love each other and that they have the skills to work their differences out. We leave the two of them happy and in love, celebrating their babies for the big HEA.
This is a very sweet, low angst story. Not a whole lot happens except the h feeling she is turning into a whale, but it was so cute and adroitly done that it wasn't boring. Give this one a go when you want a nice, calm HP outing with just a frission of typical HP h and H behavior.

Hero rebounds with his divorce attorney: How tacky!
She gets knocked up with twins and they enter a marriage of convenience.
The first wife spews her venom. She is a supermodel glamour puss who delights in making the heroine feel like a float at the Macy's Parade and still gives come hither looks to her ex-husband. The eight year old stepson has the wisdom of a young Confucius and the discipline of Mahatma Ghandi: He goes on hunger strikes rather than go on outings with his bio mom. There are two cute Alsatian dogs who sadly never bite the witch.
Finally, hero tells heroine he loves her as she is delivering the babies, but only because he found her Seekret, Unsent Letter that detailed her unrequited love for him first.
And they say romance is dead!

A slice of life story , its almost like you pick up a personal diary of Clare, the heroine. And witness all that happens to her in a span of 2-3 years.
From the time she meets the hero for the first time. That's when he walks into her office to discuss his impending divorce. She is an attorney you see. The divorce proceeds, their friendship coasts along. Once the divorce is final, he expresses interest in her. She is longing to admit that too. A no strings affair begins.
In 6 months, she gets pregnant by chance. But is insecure about her position in his life. He doesn't show any signs of wanting to marry either. She hesitates to talk to him about it. But when it comes out, he is prompt and insistent with marriage plans.
From the tentative first steps into marriage, their sweet and bumpy ride is what makes the rest of the story.
Its never easy to step into the life of a divorced man. However devoted he may appear. There are always remnants of his past that come calling. In this story, the super sexy show girl Serena, his first wife, does cause a few ripples from time to time. But its all very real and relatable. Clare manages to deal with her admirably, though she falters at the start.
Her biggest ally is the hero'es 8 year old son. The boy loves to live with daddy. And he thinks, Clare with her cool computer skills makes a good buddy. They hit it off well without being too overtly affectionate. The fellow's mischief also breaks the ice in some tense moments. Good portrayal of an 8 year old precocious but sweet kid !
Now coming to the hero, Lachlan. Very close to a flesh and blood blood portrayal of a business man, a family man who is also wickedly sexy. He is also an expert on baby matters, thanks to the first experience.
His is actually quite nuts about Clare right from the beginning. But two things make him wary. One is that Clare comes across as a serious career woman with great priority to to her thriving law practice, and quite rightly so. He isn't mean about it, just worried how marriage and pregnancy will impact her personality.
His second problem is more subtle, the bitter after taste from the first marriage. So he spends the first few chapters wondering if he can afford a second marriage going bad, especially how it will affect his son. As a responsible father, he is right to be cautious.
However, the baby bombshell changes the whole deal. They jump in and get ready to face the ride, together. And they do it quite admirably. The end result is double delight - twins !!!!
Its an unvarnished , real life story with a strong romance track woven into it. Good read.
This was a good story, pretty upbeat as it didn't go overboard with problems, misunderstandings and jealousy (though the h did feel a few pangs of it, when it came to the H's ex-wife) and - despite their reluctance to admit their true feelings a first - you never doubt these two are meant for each other, and their marriage is more than just for the sake of the babies-to-be.
In all of her books, it feels like hero is punishing the heroine for his ex's mistakes. It felt like she is being punished and expected to "FIX" things she had no idea who broke and she is always catching up with Hero's past scares which he didnt even felt the need to share with her. It just didn't sit well with me.
This was okay. The heroine was an accomplished career woman, which I like. She is a lawyer, and in fact, she meets the Hero because he engages her services for his divorce. So that part was a bit distasteful for me, I don’t know about the ethics of this. However, they didn’t get together until the divorce was final, which took about a year.
So, there was a nice progression towards their attraction and it starts when the Hero asks her out for a celebratory dinner, and it goes from there. They have been in a relationship for 6 months when the heroine finds out that she is pregnant. She is in a dilemma since this was definitely not in their plans and she is dedicated to her career. I liked that the Hero was not her whole world. And he saw it as well.
She finally confesses to the Hero. The Hero seems happy to be a father again (he has a child from his first marriage, whom the heroine likes as well) but he is hard pressed to convince the heroine to marry him. Finally she agrees.
Although they have a good relationship, the heroine is insecure since she isn’t sure of the Hero’s true motivation for marrying her. She feels part of it is because he is a decent guy who won’t shirk his responsibilities, but she also thinks he may have married her to provide a two parent situation for his son. His ex is getting married also and has hinted that the child might be better off in a two parent household. The heroine also feels that the Hero and the ex still have unfinished business despite the divorce,
The ex and her new man show up a few times when the pick up the son for outings and such. This gives the heroine some insecure moments since the ex is a beautiful and sexy woman and the heroine is hugely pregnant at this point. The ex also takes the opportunity to make veiled catty remarks to the heroine.
The heroine is no doormat, and for most part she is rising to the challenge of juggling her career plus being a wife a step mom and ultimately a new mother. Throughout all this the Hero is very protective and caring. He also takes a lot of opportunity to compliment the heroine. He totally cannot be faulted in his treatment of her. In fact at times, he goes around her back to make sure she is well cared for.
The hero gets called away for an emergency. The son bumped his head while out with the mother and is now in hospital. The ex also broke a leg, so she can’t be there for the son, therefore the hero has to go. Though he is reluctant to leave the heroine since she is near her time. Since this is HP land, of course the heroine goes into labor, and they have a a hard time contacting the hero to add a bit of tension to the story.
Suffice it to say, he arrives at the enth minute to participate in the last part of the birth. They are happy parents, and finally declare their love for each other. He explains that he loves the heroine totally, more than he ever loved his ex. He now realizes that it was only lust since the ex was a beautiful woman. Also the ex used to use a lot of sexual manipulation, so he had some issues with that and at first thought the heroine was trying that on with him as well. He soon realized that the heroine is a very honest and forthright person and it was totally not in her make up to do that.
The kid and his dogs were quite cute though I didn’t expound on it in this summary.
I actually liked this one. There was no horrible, OTT angst. Just two people devoted to each other, yet insecure about how the other felt.
Circumstances that were extremely credible led to the conflict in the story. It made for a nice change of pace to have a hero that was strong, loving and not set out for revenge.
AWFUL! Note to self: don't read Lindsay Armstrong again. She has absolutely no connection with the reader OR her characters. They are totally 1 dimensional! I found myself willing things to happen because it was such a BORING read!
Yet another simple but cute story. I was expecting more once again but the most I got was twins. Ha! Okay, not so funny but I did enjoy reading the novel. I would of loved to watch the heroes ex getting dumped/divorced again. She annoyed me.
Un retrato real de lo que pasa a la gente cuando no se permite hablar de los sentimientos y se pone a dar por hecho lo que piensa de su pareja... cosa que pasa a mucha gente.
